Yeah I was listening to it on the radio here. Terrible. Although I did call it for my friend with Flames in 6 so I'm ahead of him now.

Not that I am thinking that is a good thing however...

I was trying to follow a plan like that for a bit now. I settled on a 1 for 1 basis. Recently I've been playing through some of my older stuff and crossing it off without buying anything new. I've had a good thing going with around 4-5 titles since I picked up anything new.

Hell, I think it's time to stock up again! nod

Detroit picked up Calder and Bertuzzi.  Honestly, I'm not sure what to think.  I have no idea what Calder can do, and Bertuzzi is a huge question mark with his back, but fortunately what we give up is conditionally tied to our playoff performance and his ability to play.  Aside from that, he brings the big, gritty, power forward we need, but I'm not sure how I feel about taking on the guy who almost killed someone on ice.  icon_confused

I had a laptop go bust, and it took me a long time to learn how to take it apart. I rendered it useless in my attempts, but it wasn't a great laptop anyway and I learned a ton.

The trick is that the main screw is under the keyboard. There's usually only a couple pinch-tabs to get the keyboard off the laptop.
I still have most of the pieces if you need any. (2Ghz cpu, CD Rom, a battery -- no guarantee that it works but will send at cost of shipping)

Much appreciated-as I said, I think the primary issue is that the power pin inside the laptop (that you plug the battery into), has somehow snapped off its little electrical housing board. That is the thing that might make everything work if fixed.
It's a Compaq isn't it? I have to get mine fixed as well.

Yeah, I know Snake's Revenge is the red-headed stepchild of MG games.  What can I say, it was pretty fun.  I must have finished it at least five times.

If I recall correctly, I rented it... and then purchased it.  And I purchased very few NES or SNES games.  I rented a ton of them, however.

2304  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Halo 3 info on: November 16, 2006, 05:31:48 AM
I have pretty much only wanted to preorder when there was a good incentive. Master's Quest disc for Windwaker was one. The other was when EBGames was having a Halo2 option of trading in a game a piece towards it for $10 each. Dropped 3 craptastic titles and paid $20 and change for the collector's edition. Got more than my time out of the multiplayer on Live with that to make up for the small loss I may have taken when I traded in the games I wasn't going to play. The Master's Quest disc was nice as I had never played the Occarina of Time before so that was definately worth it. That and I worked at Gamestop at the time so I got the then 20% discount on the game as well.
2305  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: I caught one of my local Gamestops in a lie on: November 07, 2006, 08:59:19 AM
Aww I must have hurt some feelings here.

Yes I did read the thread. It didn't seem to be asked if it was available for a impulse purchase. Admittedly, it should have been asked but wasn't. That's what happens when you deal with clueless counterjockeys.

I think my biggest beef with people's responses here are that they generally don't do anything about it. Aside from running home and posting in forums about it. People complain all the time about the stores/franchises and yet make it sound like they keep frequenting the places even after the problems occurred. Have a problem with someone? Pick up the fucking phone and let them know. Make a scene. Refuse to go there regardless of their offers. Offenses like that would have gotten me fired as well. They didn't because I was courteous and tried to help the person. It's not a huge deal. Go do business somewhere else if you don't like thiers. Oh I forgot. It's cool to hate and complain about clueless gaming sales people and stores without doing anything about it. I wish there was an emoticon for me twirling my finger in the air.

Yes, I'm an evil bastard for not joining in the majority of the thread...

I was looking for FIFA 07 yesterday and went to a GameCrazy and asked if they have any copies.

"Got that preordered?"

"Nope, impulse purchase."

"We have 3 copies, all preordered."

So he calls the closest GameCrazy and they say they have a "few" copies.

So I drive down there, in a new area, so it's a little stressful, and it's a bit of a drive in traffic, and I get to that GameCrazy, ask them if they have any copies of FIFA 07 and they do!  Except they're all preordered.

WTF.  What a waste of time!

Dude, I thought it was just the one store! WTF man, complain!
Why are you getting upset at this, seriously? It doesn't sound like the guy lied to you. It's always a big title. That's one of the problems with making an impulse purchase. It may not always be around.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Some of you people are sounding like the biggest whiners there are.

Just say no thanks or you aren't interested for the counter talk. I could take it when I was there. I simply stopped whatever offer was being said and moved on with the transaction. I can't believe that none of you people have ever worked for a company that made you do and say things that I you didn't like while working there. I hated pushing the preorders and trade ins on people. I had to do it if I wanted to keep the position. Admittedly it was not a full time thing and I wasn't too worried about it but even so it wasn't the end of the world. As for the clueless employees that you encounter, take it up with the manager there on duty if it's a huge deal to you.

It's a shame that you people always seem to have problems with your stores and transactions. I'd hate to see what happened if there was a real emergency bigger than not getting a game when you went into a store...  Roll Eyes

For some reason the DGen 1.7 won't finish loading up for me. It complains that the game could not be started. Is there more that needs to be done for it to work? I downloaded the latest version and still nothing. Do I need it to have the directory% also like the SNES one?

So for those of us that still have a 1.5, what are some of the good Homebrew items that have become available recently? I want a decent SNES and Genesis emulator for it. Have they released any faster ones? The ones I had were still in need of some work speedwise.

Yeah I know, you think Steam sucks. I don't care and neither do most others.

Now that the trolling is over, has anyone else been having slow downloads from Steam? When I originally got HL2 at launch it was pretty damn fast, but now with a reloading of HL2 it's slow as hell for me. Like 50KB/s average. Makes for a long download process to say the least.

I have tried deleting the .blob file to no avail. It updates the platform and then resumes the slow process. I can't get it at home as I am forced to use the public library and my laptop for net connectivity.

Any ideas as to how I can speed it up? I was thinking about getting Ep1 from it originally as I did with HL2, but not anymore.
