2161  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Someone is using my email to sign up for spam on: January 17, 2006, 07:18:45 AM
I have only had 1 piece of noticed spam hit my Gmail account. I don't use the conventional name.name@gmail that they suggested so that may be part of it.

Condensed version:

Gamestop and EB Games suck. They are run by assholes that dont know shit about gaming and only care about getting your money.
Newsflash!

Welcome to corporate America! Thanks for stopping by!

Edit:
Yes I do happen to work at a GameStop here in GR. Yes, what he says is pretty much the truth. There are a couple points that don't apply everywhere like our store, but the majority of it is good advice. You would be suprised how many people don't have the brains to figure out to hang on to thier receipts or even attempt to read them when they do have them.
2164  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Way behind.... Metroid Prime (and Echoes!) on: December 31, 2005, 03:49:07 AM
Is it for sure only $10? I was reading at CheapAssGamer and they didn't make it sound as though that was true.
2165  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Way behind.... Metroid Prime (and Echoes!) on: December 30, 2005, 04:47:00 AM
It was probably just an old tag. You should have asked about the price. Probably 17.99 or 14.99.

2167  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Circle lines on Xbox discs - normal? on: December 15, 2005, 03:29:43 AM
NO the drive just started going bad and it's eating the disc. Take the system back and show them the disc as well. If they are all grouped in one spot like that it means that the laser casing is starting to get too close. Mine was doing the same thing. I had to take it apart and fix the protective case on the laser.

Take it back and get another one.
2168  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anything new on Team Fortress 2? on: December 15, 2005, 03:24:09 AM
I agree about ET:TF. The size threw me off when I tried it as well. TFC kicks mucho ass. Too bad it's not as popular anymore.

So I guess Half-Life 2's release just went right over everyone's head?
Not at all. They just promised the fans that they would release information about TF2 real soon after it's release. Yes I know 'soon' and Valve do not go together but something in a year I would hope would not be too much...

2171  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / XBox 360 scratched disc solution on: December 12, 2005, 09:49:02 PM
Here's one:

Don't pick the stupid thing up and move it intentionally while its running like the Llama guys did...

Edit:
Think about it, what do those guys provide? Parts. When you get panicky and start messing with the system and it does screw up where are you most likely going to go to get the parts? Other than the warranty issues, I'm sure most of us have opened the original Xbox for some reason or another. We will do the same to this eventually. It sounds like they are just looking for ways to get people to spend money on thier site. They are looking hard apparently for the little rubber pads...

No proof?! Have you forgotten about THIS picture?

I hope not. I still have some of the old media movies of it on a hard drive somewhere. That clip, the ammo loading for mounted gun, the lipsynching where guys are parachuting down in the background, and other stuff. I would have been elated if it was looking like that and released at that time. We would probably be on Team Fortress '05 by now.
2173  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anything new on Team Fortress 2? on: December 12, 2005, 06:11:40 AM
Chances are that it has been quietly cancelled with the hopes that the fans would have forgotten about it. They keep claiming that it is still being worked on, but have shown no proof of it at all.

2177  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / New PC Gamer mag on: November 19, 2005, 05:38:01 AM
Meh, I'll believe it when I read it. I used to get it for the longest time, but the amount of quality content compared to the mindless crap that they put in there to try and be funny was getting pretty small. And they took forever to even offer a DVD version. I would have probably kept up my sub if that had been offered when it ran out.

Question about the controllers:

How do the sticks feel? Do the have the same tension as the S controllers? I've never seen a 3rd party one that had the same firmness. Including the overrated Logitech wireless ones.

Erm, usually just make sure that it is updated and then double click the entry in the list. Try right clicking it as well to see if a context menu comes up. Not at home otherwise I could tell you immediately.

2195  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / BB price question on: October 04, 2005, 02:35:03 PM
The GameStop where I work usually has the items as Active or Delisted in the the register. Active means that we would be getting more and Delisted means that no more new ones would be coming in. Usually with guides and accessories, especially lately, when the item is Delisted we put a X% off on it to clear it out. Usually 30-50% off the original price. When the register price drops to $0.01 we pitch the guides.

Ask a somewhat knowledgeable looking person there to see if they can find the status of the item.

You also might need a license.  I know that a local woman didn't have a license for a monkey she had and it got loose and started attacking people in the neighborhood.  I don't know if it applies to a squirrel, and I guess I really doubt it, but better to be safe than sorry.
But was it flinging poo? That's the real hazard.
