For some reason the DGen 1.7 won't finish loading up for me. It complains that the game could not be started. Is there more that needs to be done for it to work? I downloaded the latest version and still nothing. Do I need it to have the directory% also like the SNES one?

So for those of us that still have a 1.5, what are some of the good Homebrew items that have become available recently? I want a decent SNES and Genesis emulator for it. Have they released any faster ones? The ones I had were still in need of some work speedwise.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Slow downloading from Steam?

Yeah I know, you think Steam sucks. I don't care and neither do most others.
Now that the trolling is over, has anyone else been having slow downloads from Steam? When I originally got HL2 at launch it was pretty damn fast, but now with a reloading of HL2 it's slow as hell for me. Like 50KB/s average. Makes for a long download process to say the least.
I have tried deleting the .blob file to no avail. It updates the platform and then resumes the slow process. I can't get it at home as I am forced to use the public library and my laptop for net connectivity.
Any ideas as to how I can speed it up? I was thinking about getting Ep1 from it originally as I did with HL2, but not anymore.

Metal Gear Solid 2, for example, has the coolest video if you don't press start. Hell, when I hear the MGS2 theme, I can visualize the video in my head (just today, when I was playing the song in the car, I kept saluting at the part that it shows soldiers saluting and my brother's like, "Dude, stop saluting!") - it's great.
That makes me think of the Venture Bros for some reason with Hank yelling at Dean.

Don't talk too positive about GameInformer here or OO. Lots of people seem to think that when offered it at the GameStop checkout line they are being insulted...
I like the free subs that have been given away lately. Had like 3-4 free subs to game mags not too long ago but they have run out for the most part now as I haven't bothered to try and renew them yet. No time for any games makes them a moot point for me unfortunately.

It doesn't get better. That is one of the most overrated games I have played. I never did bother finishing it. Got to the 3rd disc and never went back. I should go and do it sometime but eh...

Because of the atrocity that is his post and the unbelivably awful link embedded within it, I propose that for the love all things decent, KD should ban himself.
That made my soul hurt.
<wretch> You have to admit that the ending was good. In a bad 80s way. Note: When I say 'bad 80s way' I certainly don't mean bad ass.

HE'S A SHILL, GET HIM! Actually it's looking pretty sweet. Although they said that it was only going to be like 10hours long though. I'm interested in what kind of new tech they come up with as I am playing through FarCry now and it's sweet. All except for that waterfall part which I had to break down and use quicksave for.

Wow, this is really the 'fix all known problems with Xbox360/Live' patch that they hyped it to be.
* Improvements to the Xbox Guide.
* Option to retain your saved games when you delete a profile.
* Increased accuracy of "last time played."
* Network configuration improvements for Xbox Live members in the Netherlands.
* More detailed messaging for unreadable disk or region errors. We get it. You are a Nintendo fanboi. We don't care that you don't like anything else.

Qbe, I do see that you are not located far from me. Try the GS on Alpine Ave next to Toys'R'Us next time. I'm there on the weekends generally. Hey Kagath, you're not the guy with the Moogle tattoo, are you? Heh, nope.

One of the reasons that I like Gamestop over EB is that we don't usually try to put a bunch of useless stickers on the cases. Generally a price tag, barcode, and that's usually it if it's from us. None of those big obnoxious round yellow stickers everywhere.
Occasionally there will be a small round sticker on the opening mainly a way for us to see if a 'new opened' (*see my post above*) copy was opened by the customer. We had a lot of that stuff that was sold during the holiday season and put those on there if we did not reseal the package for the customer. If that seal is obviously not broken or tampered with then the store will generally not hassle you if you are looking to return or exchange it. It's pretty easy to tell if it was moved so YMMV if you try to open it and then return it.

Misguided is correct. We can and occasionally do check out new stuff. Usually wait and prefer used.
We do also open/'gut' new stuff for display if we don't have more than one new copy. If the customer doesn't like that something was the last one, we also have a 'opened/shopworn' discount option that shows up on the receipt. Usually I don't have a problem with people not liking it as I always show the customer that the disc is in new shape when I remove it from the sleeve and place it in the case.
We can also replace the case with a different one if it is marked up or damaged as well, just ask as we normally have some in the back.
Thankfully there are multiple places surrounding our store that we can point people to when they don't like this.
As a side note, I also have lots of people come in and expect a used game to look brand new and yet still want the 90 warranty and discounted price. They will stand around and inspect it with a microscope practically for scratches. We do get in the occasion resurfaced disk (have a large 'R' on the rear UPC sticker) and also ones that are still sealed.
And for the love of the gods, keep your receipts.
