Digital Foundry takes a look at Tomb Raider.  Not the truest comparison as XB1 is capped while the PS4 is uncapped.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-tomb-raider-definitive-performance-analysis

Gameplay Analysis    Xbox One    PlayStation 4
Lowest Frame-Rate    24fps    33fps
Highest Frame-Rate    30fps    60fps
Average Frame-Rate    29.84fps    50.98fps

Its capped at 60.

It doesn't make sense that the Xbox gap is so bad from a hardware standpoint that it's forcing devs into 30fps vs 60fps decisions. The XB1 has games - even multi-platform games - that run at 60fps.

Yea but those are rendering at 720p like Ghosts. Its an either or tradeoff for devs. 1080p30 or 720p60 is the choice they have to make.

What does this mean? Well, it means a respectable amount of extra GPU power will be available to devs, which will be of particular use when it comes to cross-platform titles. It's somewhat bad news for fans of the Kinect though, as this also means that devs will now have to make a choice between Kinect support or more GPU, and I don't think Kinect is going to win that battle very often.

It will help but its not going to stop the multiplatform titles we see being 1080p vs 720p, or 60 vs 30 fps.

Black Tusk were originally supposed to be developing a new IP to alternate years with Halo, but now it looks like they are just going to be the Gears shop.  What they showed at E3 has now been said to have just been concept work, and didn't represent an actual game in development.

Well that's sort of what Gears was on the 360. Get Halo one year and a Gears game the next. I also feel its not quite the franchise anymore MS thinks it is. They would be better of trying to lock up Titanfall beyond the initial game and pair it with Halo like Gears was last generation.

The fact that two systems sold 7+ million in a month and a half completely puts to rest the dumb comments about gamers not wanting a new generation. Quite the opposite in fact. Heck we've never had two big consoles launch literally head to head like this. Its always been a a year or so separation so the fact they can sell that many is really impressive.

I think what Purge is trying to say is that even if Sony has been a proponent for digital distribution, they certainly didn't trumpet that when MS was facing a backlash over online DRM.

That's called being a smart business. Also they don't need to trumpet it. Their actions in what they offer with digital speak for themsleves. MS screwing up their own PR is their own fault. Sony had no obligation to bail them out.

Nobody said they Sony had to - even I pointed out how it was a good strategy for THEM, as in Sony. For progress in gaming? Notsomuch - they set back disk-less console gaming licenses being more than just buy it and be stuck with it. There is nothing to be done about it now - MS will likely swing their product in that direction via open-market means (eg: hey buy Halo 5 online, and you could trade it in / share it vs buying in-store). If they're smart, they'll make it slightly cheaper. Or they may just nurse their DRM backlash wounds and not push further.

OMG you are freaking hilarious. You actually think that MS was on some amazing path with digital distribution an licensing with the Xbox One and Sony irrecoverably ruined it? Geez dude talk about going off the rails....

Huh? I have no idea what your saying dude. You obviously have some conspiracy burr about Sony ruining your dream of an all digital world when the facts say otherwise. Everything bad that happened with the Xbox One at its launch was self inflicted by Microsoft and horrible PR. Again since you seem to ignore the facts that Sony has pushed digital distribution on consoles faster that MS has so again no idea what your issue with them is but whatever.
94  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: January 11, 2014, 05:32:37 PM
Sony isn't hindering the future of games distribution. They have pushed it on the PS3 with their Day 1 Digital on PSN and with having all digital buying ability on the PS Vita. If you want to not ever buy a disc/cart with a PlayStation product you can.

That's why I suggested the USB drive and partnering with Gamespot, or even better Red Box.  Just go up to a Red Box plug your drive in and download the install files.

Eh at that point you might as well still sell discs as people still have to leave their homes to go get the content.

The streaming can be used on about anything Sony. Even Bravia TV's will be able to do it.

To me, the most interesting part of that is the Wii U number (which doesn't include the extremely important Nov/Dec numbers).  Their sales aren't quite as dire as I'd been imagining.

I get that Nintendo didn't have the impressive out-of-the-gate stats (and, in fact, stumbled), but this indicates that they're gaining more traction than I expected.  I don't imagine they'll overtake either of the other two in the long run, however.

Huh? That shows how Nintendo sales have utterly collapsed. The PS4 has basically caught the Wii in 6 weeks. The Wii U has zero traction at this point.
100  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Re: 2890 Days until launch. Which system are you getting? on: January 08, 2014, 02:43:28 PM
Microsoft clearly put allot of stock into the US since its already become easy to get one now. If they had taken some of that into other markets they could have been closer in sales, but then again they are also hindered by having to get Kinect voice working  in all those different languages.

Here's something that will blow your mind.

It took the 360 2 1/2 years to reach 10 million units. The XB1 has already hit nearly 1/3 of that in less than 2 months.

The PS3 reached 20 million units in 2 years. The PS4 has already reached nearly 1/4 of that in less than 2 months.

Both of these consoles are crushing records. Game publishers have to be doing a happy dance right now, because apparently the console industry is FAR from dead.

Your numbers look like just U.S. not worldwide. 360 sold more than that in total after 2 /12 years.
103  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 2890 Days until launch. Which system are you getting? on: January 07, 2014, 07:15:48 PM
Its like E3 all over again. Sony comes in after MS and gets to poke fun at their slip-ups with DRM, used games sales etc along with a lower price. Now the day after MS touts 3 million Ones sold they get to counter punch at CES with 4.2 million.

The Bond movies were meticulously restored by frame by frame from the original negatives.

According to this Forbes article, which they admit is based off info from a sketchy site, the One was outsold by the Wii U the week before Christmas.
And the 3DS outsold everything. That's pretty amazing for a system that was practically DOA.

The 3DS was just overpriced at the start because Nintendo was greedy. Coming off the success of the Wii and DS they thought people would pay a premium for their system even though affordable was a cornerstone of those systems success. They quickly saw the error or their ways, lowered the price and it started selling.
107  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: DISNEY buying LUCASFILM....More Star Wars coming... on: January 05, 2014, 06:27:33 PM
Ah that's right. Its was the merchandising rights Lucas held onto at the time since the studio didn't think they were worth anything. Bad executive decision on that part.

Now I wonder why has there never been blurays of the original trilogy released so many fans have wanted(Not Lucas's bastardized versions) . Lucas always gave excuses up to saying that there basically weren't viable versions around anymore. Knowing Fox had the rights its amazing that they didn't keep negative copies of their own stored securely.

Is it true FOX still owns the current 6 Star Wars films until 2020 apart from the original Star Wars film, that they have the rights for forever?

Pretty sure Fox has just been the distributor for the previous films but Lucas owned all rights to the them, which would now be with Disney.

Who are these "they" you're talking about? We are dealing with a different company now, and in particular, with one less George Lucas.

Oh i see,so Disney will just ignore everything from Episode II?..damage is done

Looks like the January games have been announced, and they finally have a good, somewhat recent game in Sleeping Dogs and there will also be Lara Croft: Guardian of Light.

Roughly a year and a half after PS+ gave Guardian of Light away for their members. retard

Hey it's only 9 months after Plus gave away Sleeping Dogs.  Seriously though, Pllus started off pretty crappy for games and got much better. GFG seems to be getting better and Microsoft didn't give up on it right at the end of their initial announcement.  So I'm pretty happy about it even if I've played both of the games.  Competition could make both of them even better.

I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs. It was much better than expected.  I actually got the Platinum on PS3.  It deserves more exposure.

Microsoft is gonna have to get allot better if there's to be any sort of competition in the monthly free games area. PS+ subs got these games awhile ago, and this month will get Brothers and Bioshock Inifinite. Frankly there's no comparison between the two offerings on a month to month basis.

I will probably end up watching it because that makes her happy, but I won't last long if it veers too far into soap opera.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Well you can't blame the writers/producers on the ending of season 3. The actor playing Mathew wanted out because of other roles being offered. It wasn't originally in their plans to off 2 main characters in one year.
