I haven't seen any framerate problems problems with the Vita.

For the love of god change the placement of the analog sticks...I still can't stand playing FPS games on the Playstation because of that.

It's the other way around for me. I can't fathom why people feel the 360-controller has a better layout. The asymmetric placement of the joysticks makes absolutely no sense. Going from a 360-controller to a PS3-controller is like finally managing to reach that itch that has been bothering you for hours.

Better...explain how your thumbs hitting each other when trying to play is good design...its crap design. They took the original controller that didn't have sticks and just put them on without rethinking the design...its just plain lazy on Sony's part.

This thing is getting dumped on gaming sites all over...surprising miss from a usually quality developer in Gearbox. The Alien franchise deserves better than this.
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors begin. on: February 01, 2013, 10:55:10 PM
Its not just about spiffy new graphics, its the world you can create with a new engine. The giant teaming city of Rome in Assassins Creed simply could not have been done on a PS2. Well I guess it could have but there would be about a dozen people walking around in it and would have looked like crap. The world they could make helped make that game what it was.

Saying after almost 8 years that we are still fine with the same consoles is so narrow minded.

Looks like Ninja Gaiden is the next Plus game for Vita. I'll probably give it a try even though I've never been a big NG player.

Looking at the initial specs of the first system its just a mobile AMD A10 system crammed in a little box.

So underpowered + running Linux and not windows = fail IMO.

I've had one bug that stopped a mission(First one in bayou section). Had a transition from completing one section of a mission to the next where the screen goes black for a second. Got teleported inside a building that had no exit so was stuck.
56  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: DISNEY buying LUCASFILM....More Star Wars coming... on: October 30, 2012, 09:15:10 PM
I have midly optimistic hopes. The marvel properties have been done well overall, and they were smart to hand the reins over to Joss Wheaden. Plus they leave Pixar alone to release hit after hit. While I'm sure we will see kiddie Star Wars stuff at their theme parks I think they will be smart enough to not run the franchise well.

Graphics are far better than Wii.

As for the memory size, if they allow SD cards (not sure if they will or not, but you would think they would so that people can get their stuff from the Wii), then the built-in size doesn't matter.

Yea its on par with 7 year old tech like the 360...

SD cards? really? How about they use this thing called a hard drive. I hear they work pretty well for storage.

the 660Ti is a huge jump over your 550. Is it worth $300? Well that's a personal decision based on how much gaming you do on your PC and the upcoming and current games you would use it for.
62  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Sony Worldwide Studio Pres: Sony struggling to recruit 3rd parties for PS Vita on: August 20, 2012, 07:30:12 PM
Liberation and CoD will probably decide wether it gains any traction in the US at least. If they can sell well maybe publishers will take another look. If not then a I see only games Sony supports like Killzone getting made and titles like the Vita version of Bioshock fading away to never be released.
63  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Joss Whedon's new tv show on: August 09, 2012, 03:54:45 PM
I doubt he has much hands on with any TV series. The far bigger money machine is the next round of "Avenger movies" coming which I'm sure is his #1 priority.
64  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] The Dark Knight Rises - Impressions start page 12 on: August 07, 2012, 12:53:43 AM
Late to the party but overall enjoyed it. I noticed the length of the movie at times so that's not a good sign, and not sure about the very end. Can't decide if its a copout by Nolen or not. Felt a little to Hollywood to me.

Also not sure if it was the theater I saw it in but Bane's dialog was hard to understand at times. In fact there are several lines that I simply didn't understand what he said.

Not The Dark Knight but overall a good ending and a darn fine trilogy.

If the NCAA imposes sanctions I hope Penn State sues them to block. They have no business inserting themselves into this IMO. This whole business is for the criminal justice system and the civil courts with lawsuits to deal with. There were no sports rules violations commited here which is what the NCAA exists for. They were criminal acts by 5 men.

69  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Codemasters exec compares PS3 and 360 to Dinosaurs on: July 06, 2012, 06:31:45 PM
The next PS and Xbox will  probably offer expanded digital delievery like the Vita, but I think they both keep discs around for one more generation.

Darling wants all digital so the stores can be cut out of the equation so its just them and the platform manager(MS/Sony) splitting the $60 for the game.

Umm...that article was dumb. He is choosing between a PS3 and 360 for netflix for his dad? The Apple TV is stupid easy to use and costs $99, and you can get a Roku that streams all the major stuff for $60 starting, yet he is gonna pay between $200-250 instead. Why does this guy have a job giving out tech advice?

74  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: PS Vita, Impressions! PSN Plus coming? PSone Classics Support! on: June 11, 2012, 08:30:05 PM
No, were not 3 years into the system here. Were talking about launch titles and ones part of the initial wave. Vita games like Resistance and the upcoming AC titles were chosen to be made by unkown B teams before slow initial sales. The bottom line is publishers arn't treating the system like a full console experience in your hands as Sony like to tout.

My benchmark for what I'm talking about would be the GoW games on the PSP. Those didn't make you feel second class as a gamer. They were right up there with the Playstation titles in quality. Thats how these $50 Vita games need to be treated IMO, at least if they plan on wanting $50 a piece for them.

I still have all three of my jobs from previous Sony console purchases.  Tongue. Honestly though, I don't see the big deal with these prices. Ps3 was expensive at launch.

Exactly...and no one was buying a PS3 at its intial price so Sony had to cut. Sony can spin the value they feel is there all they want but its not selling. The 3DS is crushing it in japan(even the PSP is outselling it).

If they want people to drop $250 on it and $50 a game on this they need to show AAA level titles that look like they were made by the A level teams. Just look at the Vita AC game. Its being made by some unkown Euro team that has never done anything of quality. Why isn't it being made by a top level Ubisoft Montreal team? This half-assed level of commitment just won't cut it.

MS had a far superior online experience years before Sony. They got the mind share with hardcore online gamers, hence Sony has to do things like this to get their service attention. MS built their solid base going back to the first Xbox.

I also don't pay $60 nor did I pay $50 for any year of Live. I think the most I paid was $35. Deals several times a year for those who pay attention.

After last episode I wish I hadn't read book 2 and just had watched the shows.  Maybe I'll stop book 3 and just enjoy the tv series.

Think I've enjoyed the series more with the books being fairly blurred to me since its been so many years. I actually couldn't get into book 5 cause I was lost with so many names of characters I that I couldn't remember who the heck they were. I say just enjoy the series for what it is now , and maybe go read the books later.
