1521  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Pre-Release Thread on: August 17, 2005, 04:26:50 PM
Well I'm sure the guys at Bethesda are loving this deal...
1522  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Transporter 2 Trailer - HOLY CRAP!!! on: August 17, 2005, 06:40:04 AM
While the plot for the first movie was pretty standard, the action was well done. Still remember seeing the trailer with "the door" scene and thinking how cool that was.
1523  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dungeon Siege II Review is UP on: August 16, 2005, 05:25:27 PM
Not sure if I want to drop $50 on this as I liked the first overall but not allot. This maybe a wait for a GoGamer sale title...then again its real dry now for PC games coming out this whole summer.
1524  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / 720p = What resolution? on: August 16, 2005, 03:56:22 AM
It was a Viewsonic GS790 19'.
1525  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / This Just In: Jade Empire Sucks on: August 15, 2005, 11:45:39 PM
Well count me as another who liked the game. Not their best work but I enjoyed it. Bioware is still one of the few devs I'll buy a game if they're behind it without waiting for reviews or word of mouth.
1526  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / 720p = What resolution? on: August 15, 2005, 11:40:15 PM
I've had that problem with the few demos/games around since I switched to a flat panel(My previous regular 19' worked fine for those). I switched off 720p in the Xbox settings so doesn't try to run it at that resolution anymore.

Yes, the ability IS there, but I want to have a physical copy of the disc that the company has made.  The discs you can buy from the store can have issues and degrade quicker than the media that comes from the publisher.  The discs are also more prone to scratches than the media that you get from the publishers, as I believe that they coat it with some material that makes it more scratch resistant.[/quote

Uhh are you just makeing up whatever you can too keep your flimsy excuse going somehow? A couple of months ago a put in a burned copy of that old FPS Shogo(Was bored and wanted to see if it worked under XP and what kind of frames pers second I could get). The disc which is at least 5-6 years old worked perfectly fine. Can you get cheap CD media that doesn't work as good? Yea just like anything there's is stuff thats quality and stuff thats cheap and sucks.

If you want physical media then guess what then go and buy a copy of HL2. They gave people the option.

Your excuses get weaker and weaker with every post...
1528  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Untold Legends 2 on: August 14, 2005, 06:10:23 PM
Well as long as they have zero competition on the PSP they don't need to do much.
1529  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / $400 sound card?! Whaahuh?! on: August 11, 2005, 07:10:27 PM
Uhh not sure what your talking about the SB line of cards like the Audigy have consistantly been the lowest in CPU usage over the years. The one little fact people ignore when they complain about SB cards and problems is that since their are far more of them out there(at elast in the stand alone market not onboard sound) than any other one they are going to have more complaints.
1530  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Pre-Release Thread on: August 11, 2005, 07:06:04 PM
While a number of those games look to just be ones that will also come out for other systems so they will just be high-res versions of current gen games the list is pretty good for a system launch overall.
1531  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 to launch on November 4th at $299.99 per Wal-Mart on: August 10, 2005, 06:35:23 PM

*Forgot to add - the 360 gets FFXI with updated graphics!  Great!  Except I can renew my account and get a patch for the PC version that I have already.  Bummer.

Could of swore I rememebred hearing that if you cancelled your FFXI account you couldn't just start it up again but had to get a new copy/CD key.
1532  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Hold the Phones guys, Xbox 360 Hard Drive not included? on: August 10, 2005, 06:30:55 AM
If MS made the HD an addon they might as well throw it away. Throughout the entire history of consoles there is one lesson, if you want a feature to be widely adopted you make it part of the base system, period. All you have to do is look at the PS2 HD. Also as others have said I doubt Bethesda would be making Oblivion for the Xbox 360 if the HD wasn't going to be standard.
1533  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Rafael Palmeiro suspended for steroid violation on: August 03, 2005, 06:26:50 PM
Well this isn't some "mixup" with a supplament. He pretty much has no excuse other than "I'm a dumbass" anymore.
1534  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Rafael Palmeiro suspended for steroid violation on: August 02, 2005, 06:40:08 AM
Not sure what to make of this. He is the last person you would think would be taking steriods. At least at this point in his career. He has reached the 500+hr and 3000+ hits, and its probably his last year.Gonna sound like defending the guy but it makes no sense why he would do this purposly. The guy can't be that dumb.

I hear rumor they are shooting for the end of this year for a launch window.  We'll have that decision upon us soon enough.

Not a chance. Every site I see says it will be fall 06' at the earliest.

Don't see the problem with the specs. They are around what a mid-range desktop is today. In 18 months $500 machines will be able to meet those no problem.
1536  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Miyamoto on the Revolution on: July 27, 2005, 06:37:10 AM
Echo pretty much what Graham said about the GC controller. Its like Nintendo being diffrent for the sole reason to just...be diffrent. I'll take something like the S-contoller anyday(except make the buttons flat not rounded IMO).
1537  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Miyamoto on the Revolution on: July 26, 2005, 06:21:09 AM
He thinks the new Zelda on the GC is equal to whats being show as next-gen? He thinks the new Zelda matches something like Guilty Gear? Zelda is looking very nice visually but thats in comparsion to other current titles. Miyamoto needs to get some glasses.
1538  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Gizmondo on: July 26, 2005, 06:11:39 AM
So why would someone pay $250 for this when they could buy a PSP?

But to each their own.

They were just admitting reality. It goes on in all these games WoW included.
1540  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PC magazines are too high! on: July 22, 2005, 06:58:00 AM
Not sure what people are talking about. The Gaming mags I get(CGW and CGM), are not %85 ads. Can't rememebr what CGM editor Steve baumen said over at Qt3 but the ad ratio was less than half the magzine. Pull out a muscle mag or Bride magazine it you want to see tons of ads.

If you have a subscription the magazines are about $2.50 an issue.

Yea co-op was another of the fun things about Halo that I wish more games had.

1543  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dungeon Siege II: Anyone care? on: July 21, 2005, 06:28:28 AM
Won't be a day one purchase but if the reviews and word of mouth are posotive about GPG fixing the flaws of the first game I'd drop money on it.

If your "slapping your head in frusration" over somethng as minor as characters maybe being to lax in a certain situation I'd say someone needs to lighten up a tad....its only a TV show.
1546  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Diablo 2/Starcraft for DS, PSP?!? on: July 20, 2005, 06:40:35 AM
I'd like to see it. As a RTS player I have been wanting to see someone try a RTS on it too see how it would play. Wether the stylus would work well enough(Seems like it would) and if the screen would be big enough for it.

For instance, coming back from retrieving the supplies, they were talking pretty LOUD.  The guy on point is not doing what a guy on point should do, the guy guarding the rear isn't doing his job....all in all, very unsatisfying.

While I admit your waiting for something bad to happen to them in that situation and as soon as that scene started I was like "here it comes", I don't think it was totally out of place. None of those three characters are regular soldiers, there all support personel(mechanics and such) so that mode isn't "normal" for them so to speak. Plus they had made there way down to the site and were back up in the trees thinking there safer now. A minor down point I think.

The people who don't think the flood of illegal immigration isn't that big of deal don't live in one of the states being affected by it. Being a Arizona resident I see it every day.

1550  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Nice surprise from Gamefly. on: July 15, 2005, 07:31:01 PM
Got an email from Gamefly recently about a new service to help improve delivery times. They can tell when a game has been scanned in by the Postal service so they can send the next game out in your Que without waiting for it to be physically returned. I mailed a game off yesterday and it showed up today as being scanned with the next in the process of being shipped already. Looks like a good way to cut down on the turnaround times some have complained about before.

Oh well, the NHL always was horrible at promoting it's status as a mainstream sport.  Hockey is superior to baseball in every way, IMO.

Yea thats why dog shows get higher ratings than hockey on ESPN.
1553  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Greatest American Rock Band on: July 08, 2005, 06:51:42 AM
When I see a band list with Peal Jam at #1 but a band like Beach Boys at 18 it shows the profound lack of taste in music so many have today. Also shows why 90% of the music I listen to these days is 20+ years old.

When I think about it MTV has been about the worst thing to happen to music ever...
1554  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Sin 2 to be released via steam on: July 06, 2005, 06:35:45 AM
I don't see the problem with 6-8 hours of FPS gameplay for $20 either. I just burned through Area 51 and it took maybe 6-7 hours tops which is becoming more the norm these days(why I rent these games mostly). Hopefully they will include some MP stuff( Sin CTF was one of the more fun MP games out there at the time).

I'm just tired of the same old crap and having to play sections of a game over and over and over and over and over and over.

This is why a rent console games. The checkpoint save system thats prevelent in most of the games will usually make me quit a game eventually. I may be enjoying it up to a point but then a it some part that I have to do a certain set of things in a certain way or I die and restart and have to it again and again. What bugs me so much is depending on the points I have to play certain sections that get old fast over again before I get to the point I was at. That stuff can just kill the fun for me. Its like hitting a brick wall of frustration.
1556  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / XBox 360 vs PS3 hardware discussion for the day... on: June 30, 2005, 08:04:39 AM
Quote from: "Andrew Mallon"

As you said, you still need a mem card if you want to xfer saves or files from one machine to another. As for price, the PS3 will retail at the same price as the 360 or $299, whichever is higher. Everyone said the PS2 was going to be $399 before it was launched too. Retail pricing estimates for the PSP were way off as well.

There's no proof that the PS3 will sell at the same price as the 360, nor what the 360 will sell at itself. As for needing for transfering from one machine to another big deal. I'd bet about 1/10 of one percent of Xbox users ever wanted to do that and it also wouldn't be any diffrent that with the PS3 or Nintendo.

and the added bonus of me not having to buy mem cards for the system (I already have mem sticks and SD cards) and backup saves to my PC.

So? Don't need memmory sticks for the 360 at all unles you want to move stuff from one machine to the next.

From what I see the PS3 is gonna be more expensive unless Kutagari is lying about them not knocking the price that much below production costs. Even with the HD on the 360 the PS3 is gonna be more expensive to produce.

heh, server was full before I got the email telling me my own IP address.

Last night I found a server with 11/64 and it was full before I could connect.  This game is insanely popular right now since it's so new.

Gamespy shows it at #2 right now with as many players as HL. With the people still playing the demo added in its #1. Not bad for being out less than a week.
1559  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Favorite board game? on: June 21, 2005, 05:17:45 PM
Game of Thrones-Really fun game mechanics, just wish they didn't hamstring themselves with the map as it makes the game unblanced.

San Juan & Puerto Rico.

Settlers of Catan. Fun game but damn expensive if you want the expansions.

Not a board game but had fun learning Warmachine. Not sure if I'll drop the bucks needed for my own units...maybe I'll just borrow other players stuff.  smile

Not sold on the PSP for shooters with only 1 analog stick, nub or whatever its called.

What if you sort of reversed it, and had circle/square/triangle/X as your forward/back/strafe movement, the nubbin for your mouselook, D-pad for weapon select, and R-trigger for shooting?  The analog vs digital input would be the same as a mouse w/WASD, but would it be too hard to get used to playing sort of left handed?

Guess it would be "playable" that way, although I am used to the reverse of that for movement/aiming in console shooters. Also don't really like the thought of using 4 seperate buttons for movement.
