I've loved playing 64 player matches in BF2, but there gets a point where you have so many players it doesn't matter. Planetside years ago could have a couple thousand on a server at once but they all weren't in the same exact battle at once. This sounds like its better on paper than how it could ever be executed.

It doesn't look like it's going to be rootable like a Nook Color since there's no card slot. You also have to get all of your apps through Amazon, so not sure what will be there. The video made it look exactly like a Nook Color without expandable card storage.
I don't think it doesn't mean it can't ever be rooted. As long as the 8Gb of memory is accessible(which it is I believe to allow manually added things like video files) then I bet one of the teams can root it.

I think Jones wins it, unless he gets caught by one of Rampage's hard hits.
Jones by submission or decision.
.
I agree. Rampage can be fun to watch and has had some impressive fights but he is the past in MMA. Jones is the future and is already beyond most guys even though he is still very young. After seeing him just destroy Shogun I don't see a chance for Rampage unless he gets lucky and catches him early.

The Name of the company is Netflix, not DVDs by Mail. The plan from the beginning of the company has always been streaming. Disc media is going away. Blu-ray is the last format we will see. Netflix is preparing for that. Maybe making missteps along the way(I don't think they should split into two companies either) but they are doing what they feel they need to for the long run.
This doesn't affect me much since I dropped disc service awhile ago as one of those people that would have a DVD sitting around for weeks at a time that I realized I just didn't use it much.

But what would you do otherwise? I hate being locked in but I'm not going to get the same thing cheaper anywhere else so why not at least get a free phone out of it?
Get the best out there at the time since the overall price difference at the end of the 2 years is very small. Saving a few bucks up front for an outdated product that your stuck with for 2 years is just kinda dumb to me.

I always found Hendo to be hugely underrated. He has all the tools, has a fucking cinderblock for a chin, and it's his weight class. I don't think this is a good fight for Fedor. It's incredibly unlikely he knocks Hendo, as dude's NEVER ONCE BEEN KNOCKED OUT. Fedor has to cut weight, which he's never done to my knowledge. I just don't actually see a way for Fedor to win it.
They're fighting at heavyweight. Fedor has always been a small heavyweight so the difference isn't that much. plus Hendo has fought bigger guys than him from his days in Pride. If its the lackluster Fedor thats shown up to his last 2 fights its going to be another loss IMO. As great as he was I think his days are over.

it's too 'niche'? "Given that that title, now in two successive versions, has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way," Farrell said. He described the development team at Volition as "talented," and noted that they would be moving on to the company's Guillermo del Toro project, Insane. so I guess there won't be a Red Faction Guerrilla 2 Why they didn't build upon the success and go with Guerrilla 2 in the first place is beyond me. Maybe the dev team wanted to do something different I guess but now it looks done.

Besides, I can back up my point. Last November when we launched our $7.99 unlimited streaming plan, DVDs by mail was treated as a $2 add on to our unlimited streaming plan. At the time, we didn’t anticipate offering DVD only plans. Since then we have realized that there is still a very large continuing demand for DVDs both from our existing members as well as non-members. Given the long life we think DVDs by mail will have, treating DVDs as a $2 add on to our unlimited streaming plan neither makes great financial sense nor satisfies people who just want DVDs. Creating an unlimited DVDs by mail plan (no streaming) at our lowest price ever, $7.99, does make sense and will ensure a long life for our DVDs by mail offering. Reflecting our confidence that DVDs by mail is a long-term business for us, we are also establishing a separate and distinct management team solely focused on DVDs by mail, led by Andy Rendich, our Chief Service and Operations Officer and an 11 year veteran of Netflix. Can you? Umm actually that quote helps make my point. Netflix overestimated how fast DVD sales were slowing and needed to respond to it. The fact still is Netflix wants to phase out physical media and be a streaming only service.

Netflix wants people to drop their DVD/Bluray plans. The mailing costs, buying discs, and running the distribution centers eats up allot of their money. Plus when the next round of licsensing deals starts to come around they will cost them allot more.
I sincerely doubt that. That distribution has proven to be profitable over the years (and actually only gotten more profitable) and is their competitive differentiator. Their streaming content is very similar to Amazons. Without the physical disc model, Netflix would only be able to compete on price/platform, neither of which have high barriers to entry. There's no doubt about it, its What Netflix's CEO has said himself. Look at the name, its not DVD's by mail, its Netflix. Streaming has always beenthe end goal for them. DVD's are really expensive to do. Also IMO Netflix's streaming library is better than Amazon's plus they are on many more devices tahn Amazon. Got a cite for that? Dude seriously...its called Google. Hastings has done a hundred interviews where he talks about streaming and transitioning to it being Netflix's future not physical media.

I'd like to know what are the better options than Netflix? Really do the math people. Hulu? thats a joke. Redbox? You have more immediate service, but its a limited selection since the kiosks can only hold so many titles and you have to go back and forth to the kiosk. Amazon or Apple? Rent a few movies from them and you can spend what the combined monthly fee is even with the price hike. Netflix definately lost its terrific value which is why so many went with them in the first but its not like they suck now. All the other options people mention still have their own disadvatages too.

I'm annoyed that when Star Trek came on they removed Babylon 5! I had gotten my wife started on it, so now i need to borrow the rest of the discs from a friend.
instantwatcher.com is a good site to get info on streaming titles for Netflix like how much longer it is available. Good if your in the middle of going through a TV series.

Don't knock it. Most consoles are using slightly older graphics tech because playing games is ALL they're supposed to do. With your computer, you not only have to worry about graphics capability but all the other stuff that runs in the background: Antivirus, system services, all that fun stuff. Heck, the Super Nintendo had a 3Mhz processor in it. The original Playstation had a 33Mhz processor in it.
They're also making something that is going to be out there for years so it should be at least somewhat forward looking. At least since they are claiming that this console is supposed to be for the big AAA multiplatform stuff that was mostly absent on the Wii or had ugly versions. They could have at least used a DX11 part as the basis for the graphics.

According to Japanese site Game Impress Watch (via Develop), an 'AMD insider' has revealed that the Wii U GPU is powered by a new version of the Radeon R770 GPU.
The report claims that AMD is creating a custom version of the R770 chips that surfaced in PC GPUs in 2009. Even more interesting is the claim that Wii U will support Direct X 10.1, higher than the DX9 capabilities of Xbox 360 and suggesting a considerably more capable machine than those available today. So they will release a console in 2012 that uses PC graphics tech from 2009...umm impressive.

As I'm nearing the end of book 3 I'm getting more and more pissed off. I feel like the moral of the story is "No good deed goes unpunished". Seriously, fucking brutal.
I wouldn't agree with that. I think GRRM shows wether your honorable, not, or in between bad things can happen. War, deceit and treachery are brutal to all and basically nobody goes unscathed.

Another good episode but definately dissapointing they dont show any battle scenes. I know its a TV sries and they have a limited budget compared to a big movie but its still HBO so I expected more shown.
Tyrion still rules though.
It's been a few years since I read the books but I don't remember any large battle scenes. In Game of Thrones (I think, again, it's been years) I remember being surprised that the first big battle was sort of referred to in the past. When I think of epic fantasy I always assume there will be big battles. I don't think it affected the show or the book at all. Still, I'm with you. I wish there was a big Braveheart battle scene. My wife, who generally hates fantasy, is incredibly addicted to this show. She was pissed after Sunday's episode. Such a great HBO series. I hope it cleans up come award season. Pretty sure I remember the fight of Robb's diversion /w the Lannisters told through the eyes of Tyrion, which is disapointing since they just show him getting knocked out then waking up later, when I believe he does kill a man. Might be wrong though. As for no big battles

As far as power, we're really hitting the point of diminishing returns on graphics going past the PS3 and Xbox. I'm afraid that the more intensely detailed and graphics intense games get we'll be looking at longer dev cycles and higher game prices. The fact that it's going to run 1080p is going to be great, and suggests a more than adequate amount of power.
You realize that gets said all the time and shown to not be true. Just look at the demo Epic showed of what they can do with the latest PC tech with the Unreal engine. Thats a major step up in fidelity and what the next xbox/PS could do and would make the WiiU look like the curretn Wii does.

Well its Nintendo thats for sure. As someone who never got into the Wii I don't see how this gets me back into the Nintendo fold. Holding that controller while playing some hardcore FPS, action type games? Why would I want to be looking at a small screen on the controller and not my big HDTV? Eh whatever...

Man it really bothers me where the story is going. If you're bothered now... you know, the best thing about knowing the books and watching people who haven't read them watch the series is getting to watch them squirm I couldn't take it and read spoilers on Wikipedia and....spoilers about the book (guessing the rest of season 1) There's a reason Martin made such a large cast of characters(many who havn't been introduced yet). What happens throught the end of book/season 1 is the tip of the iceberg.
