It's a great port of the base fame, but the severe lack of content made me uninstall it after a few hours. I'd pay for, extra tracks and stuff but I guess they have no interest in it. Feels in the end like a big tech demo in the end.
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox One Discussion on: June 13, 2016, 10:16:39 PM
Knew its was coming but don't know about announcing the "Scorpio" now when its still 1 1/2 years away. Feels like them trying to preempt Sony since the "Neo" PS4 will probably be out before. Also seems to undercut interest in the announced S version. Buy a new console in August when a substantially more powerful version comes out in a little more than a year after?

Well I'm very interested. WWI is a time period that you hardly ever see in gaming.

Because warfare sucked back then.  The guns sucked, the variety sucked...everything was primitive trench warfare.

The trailer pretty clearly shows this isn't some WWI sim. More like WWI as envisioned by Michael Bay.

I'm surprised anyone is upset about this. If I was a console-only gamer I would be thrilled at the option to upgrade my system. As it stands, I already spend something north of $500/year upgrading my PC.

The whole reason I bought a console is so that I wouldn't have to spend $500 a year on PC upgrades.  icon_neutral

You don't have top buy it, and when it launches were talking at least 3 years since the original PS4 came out.

I'm personally ambivalent about it. I do think its a weird move for them as I don't see it really being needed. Maybe I will pick one up but for now I'm perfectly happy with my launch PS4.

In the tradition of Halo and Fable, I'm expecting Microsoft to destroy the magic of the Gears series with this installment. Already it looks more generic than the original series.

Hate to be the messenger but Gears was the definition of generic from the start. It just looked really pretty back in the day.

You just don't understand what I mean by comparing WiiU games to ones on the others. I just don't know how to expain it. It's not a valid comparison. Not gonna go around and round on this anymore.

The hardware is underpowered.
Well I suppose, but every first party Nintendo game has looked gorgeous and most hold a solid 60 FPS despite the hardware limitations.  This is something neither the PS4 or XBone can come close to claim.

Apples and Oranges man. There are games on the PS4/Xbox that run fine. Also its ridiculous to compare Mario Kart or Smash Brothers to something like The Witcher 3. The games that run poorly on those systems is developers that push them too far and don't prioritize consistant performance enough.

In the end the WiiU frankly deserved its fate. Nintendo thought they had done something revolutionary with the Wii. They tried another gimmick with the pseudo tablet controller of the WiiU and it bombed.

Completely disagree. Halo 5's SP is plain goofy with its story but the multiplayer 343 did is halo at its best. Gears we have no idea until 4 hits.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Oculus Rift VR headset on: January 09, 2016, 08:52:22 AM
I assume the change in not having price so much the focus as the best experience they can offer has something to do with getting bought by a multi billion dollar company. Affords them the leeway of not having to immediatly turn a profit and play the long game. This first version is too much for me too but maybe in a couple of years we will be a couple of generations on with a more mass market price offered.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Biggest disappointment/surprise of the year 2015 on: January 09, 2016, 08:42:22 AM
Arkham Knight. It's a fun game still, and the city is technically impressive but I guess in the end it didn't quite grab me like Asylum and City did.

Rocket League. I had no assumptions about the game since I hadn't herd of it before. It just came up as another free game for PS Plus. Well 6 months later and I still play it. Not as much as initially but I see this game staying on the hard drive for a long time. Just a great example of a pure video game with great controls, simple to learn the basics yet a ton of replabilty.

I'm waiting for sites like Gamespot and IGN who are waiting to see what the live servers are like before passing judgement. In today's world of so many games being dependent on online reviews before the games go live need to be taken with a grain of salt IMO.

Basically a 2 minute teaser trailer, but I'm also ok with it. I really think JJ and Lucasfilm want to keep as much unknown as possible for fans to enjoy when they see the movie.

Some good flashes of new places like the ruins and that quick in the rain with the lightning that looks like Kylo and the Knights of Ren.

Whatever they do it needs to be affordable. Should be $200 tops IMO.

Why?  What other piece of high end modern electronics that you expect to last for years do you buy for $200?  A TV?  Computer?  A tablet?  Your phone?  Surely not, unless you went bottom of the line (and the cost is not subsidized over the course of a multi-year contract).  And bottom of the line anything is certainly not capable of playing high end games for years to come.

It baffles me how people are constantly saying consoles are too expensive when they are relevant for 5-10 years, but they'll replace a $600 tablet or phone after a couple years or less.

If they go high end in hardware this thing is DOA. Nintendo will be fools if they try to go head to head with MS and Sony. It's a waste of time. They need the affordable second system that can play their 1st party games which don't need Cryengine graphics to be enjoyable.

a games console and smartphones are different markets. Ones pure entertainment, and one is a daily tool, business nessecity for many. Apples and Oranges man.

Make use of modern controls and camera, but tone down the heavy shooter gameplay the series kept leaning twords. Give "old school" survival horror pacing, with modern movement etc.

there are plenty of games that allow you to play with and against other people with a wall between you and their bullshit.  This is why despite liking mobas I tend to play more shooters still.  I can play CoD and never hear another person who isn't on my friend's list.

Best thing about a shooter like Battlefield. I can be in a team the loses by 400 tickets and still have fun. Not the same with a MOBA.

Disliked the Duelshock 3 controller to the point it was the main reason anything multiplatform got played on the 360. While I still slightly prefer the offset analog sticks of the Xbox the DS 4 is a vast improvement in every other area. It's a non issue for me now when deciding on buying a game.

Been playing on PS4 since it's free with Plus. Been allot of fun so far. It doesn't try to be more than it is. Just crazy arcade soccer with vehicles. Controls well, with quick games. This will sit on my HD for a long time as a great pick up,and play whenever I have a little free time to kill.

This looks like one of the first early access types games for the Xbox. Will be interesting to see the reception from console gamers about buying a unfinished title to get in early. Also one that states it may never be fully finished.

Don't blame Microsoft or Sony for their networks taking a hit during this debacle. There's little anyone can do to prevent or stop a sufficiently large DDoS attack. Even worse, it requires just about no skill to pull off for the "hackers" (trust me, they aren't hackers even if they like to pretend to be).

This is not true. Companies that are well prepared can mitigate and recover much faster than what happened hear. This is not something that can't be dealt with.

Xbox One getting holiday only price drop to $350

MS really fucked up the initial launch of the XB1, but it's like they didn't learn anything from Sony and thei rlaunch  of the PS3.   The install base gap must be getting larger.

Wait, what did they not learn? Aren't we happy to see a $350 XB1 this Christmas?

Yes people are happy, I'm guessing hos point is how Microsoft got to the point where they are offering a still  new system for $150 less with a pack in game one year after launch as I doubt this was nowhere in their thought process originally.

Tomb Raider is an odd pick.

I don't see it as a big enough franchise to be a system seller so why do it at all? It's likely not going to drive XB1 sales...

MS needs exclusives. They don't have the in house/1st party developers like Sony, especially since Bungie left them. Tomb Raider did well in its reboot and is about the best action/adventure game out there they could tie up since Sony already has Uncharted.

Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, this game was announced some time ago, though without a name. The plan has always been for two Assassin's Creed games to be released this year, one for current-gen and one for last-gen. Rogue, which was tentatively called Comet until just now, is the last-gen version. I imagine it's going to be as vital to the series as Liberation was, which is to say, not much at all.

Unity is the only Assassin's Creed that matters this year, unless you're stuck on a last-gen console for now. Rogue is a bone thrown to those who are.

Unity may have the fancy new engine but as a huge AC IV fan the theme/setting of this Rogue game is more interesting to me than Unity so far.
