1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Kinect: Are you In or Out? on: August 11, 2010, 07:11:33 PM
Totally in.  Granted it is more expensive than what I had hoped, but I have a 6 year old daughter that would just love some Kinectimals.  With that and the wife actually interested in the dancing game it will be a instant buy.  I just hope the 250gb version has a bundle on release day.

3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2 on: January 18, 2010, 01:56:37 PM
I just began the game a few days ago and am really liking it, but I did encounter a rather nasty bug.  Do NOT overwrite save games.  The game sometimes saves, but still thinks you are at the previous save game spot.

When this happened to me I overwrote a save that was in the main world with a save when I was in the first towns guard tower.  When I reloaded the guard tower save, all the doors to the tower had vanished ( I guess the doors are their own item).  The game though I was out in the real world and therefore did not load up the doors on the inside of the tower.  Needless to say I was stuck and had to go back to a previous save game.

So now I just create all new saves and delete old ones when necessary.  Overall I'm enjoying the game quite a bit, but I like all RPGs (Two Worlds etc.)  I'm also a ranger character and haven't really had any issues with the ranged targeting.  As was mentioned it targets the closest character, but with the left trigger held in you just nudge the right analog stick to the left or right to cycle between targets.  I just don't think I'll get a chance to finish it before Mass Effect 2 comes out, so it'll have to go on the back burner for a while, but I'll be certainly coming back to this game later.

well, i guess that makes sense JD.  if you are supposed to be this badass when you are level 20 going to the newbie zones, then it means you aren't going to take on those 5 levels above you.

it's all run and gun though.  actually, that makes me kind of bummed.  i was hoping for something more advanced than quake 1 gameplay.

how are the driving/vehicular combat aspects?
The driving sucks, its Tank style fwd & rvs with the left stick and steer with the right

Like Halo?

Yes, they have said that driving uses the Halo scheme.

I haven't followed LBP at all, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.  Does anyone know if there have been many levels built specifically for the younger audience?  I have a 5 yr old and I can see this being fun if people made levels that only used the jump button or something with different kiddie type themes.
7  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Kidney Stones, holy crap... on: September 26, 2008, 04:32:22 PM
I had 5 stones in the timespan of 3 months a few years ago.  It's true that what you eat/drink can cause kidney stones, but it is also has to do with hereditary.  My father also had them a few times over his lifetime.  Although its possible to only have one, its more likely that if you've had one then you are going to get more unless you change something.  You will want to capture the stone (with a straining funnel if you can pass it) so it can be analyzed to determine what was causing the stones.  Hopefully the doctors told you to do this.  With mine it was some imbalance of acidity in my urine and was prescribed a potassium citrate (google Urocit-K) pill that I take daily and have for the past few years and have not had another stone *knocks on wood*.  I go to a urologist yearly now to get checkups and have the dye sent through me to get xrays of my kidneys to make sure no more are growing.

P.S. Mine also happened around 2-3am and woke my wife up and raced to the hospital.  I just remember telling her, "Must go faster!  If a cop shows up, just keep going we'll explain at the hospital!"  Luckily no cops showed up.  I initially thought it was an appendix bursting or something.  When I was in the room after being admitted waiting for painkillers a nurse came in to put in the IV thing, I said "Thank God!" and she said "Ohh I'm just putting this in, someone else brings the morphine" to which my wife says I said "You have got to be f***ing kidding me!" really loud.  I don't remember saying that, because that's not like me, but as you know with that type of pain you aren't thinking straight.
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Cancelling your XBL membership is a F'd up process on: November 28, 2007, 06:47:14 PM
Did they give you some kind of cancelation number?  Make sure they do.  I canceled my account when we moved to a new house that didnt have high speed in the area.  We also canceled the credit card "just to make sure" because the person online didn't seem to know what they were doing.  About 4 months later I got a letter from a collection agency.  Microsoft said that I didnt cancel and that they always give a cancelation number (which they did NOT give me) and said they tried to notify me many times through email (which was also disconnected since we couldn't get high speed).  Microsoft never gave up and I just told the collection agency, that I canceled the subscription and I wasn't going to pay and haven't heard anything for a few months.

Wow, my 360 just died as well on Monday.  Had it since day 1.  Been trying to get a repair order for it since Tuesday.  They have all my information in the system, but are unable to send in the order since their system is being "upgraded" for more than 48 hrs now.

I'm sure they didn't- the original Japanese release wasn't widescreen- that feature was added to the US version.

Ah, that explains the bars on the side.  I guess the bar at the bottom is in case you have subtitles turned on.

I always turn on subtitles and they are in that black area below the cinematic.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Old Old School - Atari 2600 retro systems question on: January 16, 2006, 09:04:14 PM
Oops, nevermind.  After a bit more searching I see there is a new Atari Flashback 2.0 that has Combat!  Very Cool, now I just need to find out what stores carry this.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Old Old School - Atari 2600 retro systems question on: January 16, 2006, 08:55:28 PM
I know those plug directly into TV systems are pretty popular and I'm aware of the Atari Flashback system, but does anyone know if any of these systems has the original "Combat" game on them?

We played "Combat" in college on my old 2600 system.  Nothing was a better drinking game than invisible tanks and rebounding shots.  I have a few college friends coming by and would like to break this out, but would rather buy a new system, than try to find my original 2600 buried up in the attic.

15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Are you happy with your 360? on: November 28, 2005, 10:21:25 PM
I love mine.  I'm a big home theater nut and have had an High Def. television for 5 years (when there was only a few hours of HD content on per week) so getting the console was a no brainer for me.  I've played quite a bit so far having finished both Kameo and Gun (both short games that I rented) and have messed around with PGR3 and PDZ.

I think the thing I like the most is the interface.  I love checking in with friends in the middle of games and had a good time one night where a friend and I were playing Gun with seperate games, but just chatted as we played.

I own all the current consoles and will get a PS3 as soon as possible, so I'm no particular fanboy just a lover of games.
16  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / So far, what are your favorite 360 launch titles? on: November 23, 2005, 09:19:34 PM
Only really played Kameo so far.  But having a blast with it.  As others have said  STICK WITH IT.  I thought I was going to hate the game during the intro level then kept playing it and started to love it.  Then I realized hey this is basically the Zelda game for the Xbox 360.
17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Lines Already Forming for XB360 on: November 22, 2005, 07:00:56 PM
Quote from: "Jimmy the Fish"
Well after deciding last night I would not line up anywhere, I took a chance and went to another local Best Buy at 5:30am. I was 37 out of 40 and got a premium package.

No way will I do this for the PS3 launch. This time was enough for me.

Very nice.  I drove by my local Best Buy in Mansfield, TX on my way home from Plano last night and at 1:30ish there were already 60 or so people in line and I'm not sure that Best Buy was going to get that many units.
18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Lines Already Forming for XB360 on: November 22, 2005, 05:53:17 PM
I was one of those crazies at the Plano, TX Best Buy midnight sale.  A coworker called around noon and found out about 40-50 people were already in line so we headed over.  We got there a little before 1pm and it turned out we were number 82 and 83 in line.

The Best Buy got 126 of the premium units, but they said they were holding 20 of them for the morning which would have pissed me off if I was number 107 in line.  The store handled the launch very well they wrote down peoples names around 3pm and then handed out tickets around 5:30.  Around 8pm they came around and took everyones order so that when you went in and gave them your ticket, they already had a basket with your Xbox and any games/accessories you wanted right there so you could just get right in line.  We got out of the store about 12:35.  They also handed out free tacos, coffee, hot chocolate, tee shirts and a few other little 360 trinkets throughout the day/night.

Before people start saying I don't have a life.  Well I admit it was crazy, but I'm 35 have a wife and a child and have a wonderful life.  I don't drink, don't smoke, and if waiting in line for a console makes me happy then I'm gonna do it.  Ohh and it did make me happy, a lot of the night we were playing multiplayer PSP and DS games with others in line.  Had a great time playing Mario Kart.

I'm a bigtime lurker for the most part.  Joined Gone Gold years ago.  And have lurked at Console Gold since it started.

I just joined the server last night and had a great time.  Harkonis killed me many times, but got him back on a boat to boat battle that went on for like 2 minutes (finally got to kill him when he abandoned ship and got him in the water).

Nickname : JodoKast

I'll have to rethink Xenosaga, thanks Kevin!

Thanks for all the quick responses all!
26  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Need suggestions for a PS2/Gamecube RPG.... on: May 09, 2005, 03:48:48 PM
I need to start using my exercise bike more, but I get bored.  I have set up a nice sized TV near that has a PS2 and Gamecube hooked up to it.  I'm looking for suggestions for RPGs that have more of a turn based combat.  I think real time would be too difficult while peddling etc.  I've already finished Final Fantasy X.  I was thinking of Xenosaga, but thought I would get other suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I was able to get Call of Duty for the cheap price at EB yesterday.  Thanks for the heads up on this.  I guess it pays to be so late at getting this game.  I even looked at their used section and they had Call of Duty there listed at 24.99.  Now I just need to finish it before Half Life 2 and Halo 2 come out.
