That guy presenting Disney Infinity 3.0 was dangerously close to Chris Farley levels of spazziness.

I do like the futuristic theme, so I will get it.

Damn, the action in that last sequence was so frenetic it was making me dizzy.

Good start with South Park and good finish with Ghost Recon but that was a messy middle.  You are up Sony!  Let's see some Morpheous action.

Totally agree. At least Aisha Tyler made it entertaining.
167  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 11:15:58 PM
So, a marginally better presentation compared to EA. Ubi showed more actual gameplay but they still were heavy on the prerendered video. That's the way E3 is evolving now I guess.

Sony is up next. I have low expectations based on what I've see so far today.
168  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 11:11:31 PM
Holy crap. New Ghost Recon game. Kill the drug dealers!

Forget that. Show more of Genevieve Forget! Oh la la!

Seriously though. I appreciate that they are showing actual multiplayer gameplay, but real world gamers don't talk like that while playing. Not enough f-bombs and insults.
171  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 10:44:27 PM
Lol, Angela Bassett is this year's Kevin Spacey celeb in-game character cameo.

Ubisoft sees your Spacey and raises you a Bassett. Your move Activision...

Tom Clancy's The Division:

No one in the real world talks like that during multiplayer gaming. NO ONE. As for the game, it looks nice but it doesn't seem particularly innovative or different.

New game franchise: For Honor

Looks like a medieval version of Battlefront, and they have actual gameplay footage! Watch and learn, EA!

177  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 09:52:39 PM
I am amazed by how much fluff they showed. Plants vs Zombies and Battlefront were really the only two games where they showed extensive actual gameplay.

And Peter Moore still owes us a definition of what the hell 'photogrametry' means.
178  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 09:25:56 PM
As a Star Wars fan, that Battlefront gameplay footage was 'holy shit!!'

Aside from that and Mirror's Edge, the rest of EA's presentation was a whole lot of lame. They showed a ton of "captured in-game" footage, especially with their sports games. E3 just ain't what it used to be. No one actually show gameplay anymore. It's all pretty marketing fluff.
179  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 09:16:51 PM
Peter Moore-ism of the day: "Photogrametry"

Star Wars Battlefront. Let's see if they have the guts to actually show gameplay.
180  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 09:08:09 PM
Finally something to get excited about. The new Mirror's Edge game looks pretty awesome. Hope it plays as good as it looks.

The catch-phrase of the show this year is "captured with in-game engine".
181  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 09:00:32 PM
OKAY WE GET IT, EA DUDE. You are a Pele superfan. Jesus.

I will give them credit for seemingly spending a lot of time and energy to bring women's soccer to the FIFA game.
182  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 08:55:06 PM
So far, this is the worst EA E3 presentation ever.

Who cares about soccer penalty kicks?? Where the hell are the games?
183  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 08:48:20 PM
Mobile gaming is where I take a bathroom break. Can't believe EA is spending so much presentation time on this crap.
184  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 08:45:07 PM
Kinda interesting that the EA NBA game presentation consisted of in-game engine video, but seemingly no actual gameplay or interface. Looks pretty but where's the substance?

187  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 06:49:27 PM
Thanks for posting the summary Caine. Now that I see the list after the fact, maybe it's a product of how many E3 shows I've watched to the point of being completely jaded, but the whole MS presentation was pretty 'meh'. A few interesting games. Everything certainly looked pretty, but nothing that excited me. Even the initial list of backward compatible games is disappointing. Seems like a random list of really really old early 360 games. LOL, Hexic HD was a 360 launch game, for god's sake. That Gears 4 gameplay preview was TERRIBLE. Graphics looked underwhelming and everything was so dark it was hard to watch.

I have a feeling Sony's presentation will be equally disappointing. Not a lot of pre-show hype this year for them, unless they are purposely keeping things very close to the vest in order to surprise people.

I love Cuphead's aesthetics. This is the kind of stuff I watch Microsoft's conferences for.

They showed this at last year's E3.  I was psyched about it then.  I hope the time has made for a super-polished game.

Man, I can't believe the BC stuff!  I'm sitting out the conferences this year.  Was there mention of pricing for this or anything?  Or is it just available for free if you already own the game?  Playstation Now was out of the gate really early, but their pricing model is ridiculous.  Any word on save games transferring forward?

No details about BC yet, but if you own the game on disc, you insert it and it acts like a download key to let you get the digital version. Here is the initial list of BC games. Kind of underwhelming:

189  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 06:11:06 PM
Pretty much a by the numbers presentation. Nothing really surprising other than the backwards compatibility announcement. While the games all looked visually impressive, nothing really blew me away. The Rare pirate  game looked mildly fun, and the indie game with the little blind(?) girl was different. Everything else was expected. The holographic Minecraft was cool, but beyond the impressive tech involved, how practical is this device? It seems like a pretty expensive novelty-- like Kinect was when it was announced.

During the Xbox 360's glory years, I was really behind Microsoft, but with PS4 I am pro-Sony so Microsoft really had to show me something special to make me come back. The needle is definitely pointing back towards them but still not quite there yet. I'm looking forward to Sony's presentation later today. Not expecting a whole lot but you never know.
190  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 2015 on: June 15, 2015, 05:33:34 PM
I've had zero interest in getting an Xbox One but backwards compatibility has me reconsidering now. I have a a huge collection of 360 games and if I can still use the discs as essentially download keys, that makes it a game changer for me.

192  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassin's Creed Series - Help Me Dive In! on: June 04, 2015, 04:43:56 PM
To me the only ones worth playing are AC2 just to get a decent introduction to the series and the mechanics, and AC4 because pirates are awesome. IMO, AC4 is the best in the series by far.

Unbelievable. I preordered the game on Amazon so that I would receive it today, the release day, and the tracking info shows that Amazon hadn't even handed the package over to FedEx yet.
197  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Mad Max Returns in Fury Road on: May 16, 2015, 05:11:43 AM
Saw it today. Quite possibly the best action movie I've ever seen in my life. It was that good. It's really amazing that since the invention of modern cgi, action movies have changed so radically over the years. By going old school with predominantly practical and real stunts it results in editing that is more deliberate and visible to the viewer. No more frantic quick, blurry cuts where you almost get a headache from the sheer kinetic edits and lose track of what is happening. By editing longer sequences during the chaos you can really appreciate the detail and the choreography of the fights, the chase, and the mayhem.

The story is pretty simple, which is the case with all the previous Mad Max movies but there is just enough character development and back story to really give it another level beyond mindless action. It was a little surprising how Max was not such a main character in the story. Furiosa had as much if not more emphasis. Max was more along for the ride than the focal point but I guess that was the case in Road Warrior as well, which Fury Road reminded me of. One thing I really really liked was how epic it was, more than any of the other previous movies. Some of the wide panoramic shots of the chase as well as of the desert were beautiful. The scene where Furiosa is kneeling on the sand late in the movie during one of the big plot reveals was such a spectacular visual image. I need to find that image to make it a desktop picture.

I have a feeling this movie is going to gain momentum over time because the word of mouth will spread about how good it is. As much as Avengers is presumed to be the movie of the summer season, Fury Road deserves it just as much. I'm ready to see it again immediately, which I have not felt about a movie in a very long time.

I'm convinced that IMAX and Dolby Atmos are marketing gimmicks that just mean theaters can crank the volume to 11, which is skull busting volume.

There was one person in my group that didn't enjoy Fury Road, and it was for a legit reason IMO.
During one of the last released trailers for Fury Road, there is a dude playing a flame throwing electric guitar during a destructive car chase.
If you think this is ridiculously awesome, you will most likely enjoy the hell out of this movie.
If you think that a scene like that would be ridiculously stupid, probably not going to enjoy Fury Road.

LOL, I personally thought the flame throwing guitar was sheer inspired genius, thus I guarantee I will enjoy the hell out of this movie.
