I liked it, and will keep watching it.

I also enjoyed the Oceanic airlines advertisement in the background in one scene.

wow, you are way overthinking things, and I don't feel the need to defend the movie to any of you here so I'll just say I liked it like PR_GMR did and leave it at that.
A little too long for my taste and maybe a few more slower moments would have been nice, but all in all a great time at the movies.

Actually, while I would have suggested a shorter film as well, I would go instead with removing some of the slower moments, as they were downright terrible most of the time. The action however was outstanding.

Similar impression here.  Maybe it was my lowered expectations, but I had a great time.  Sure some parts were painful, and some parts were really painful, but there were enough really cool moments to balance it out to 3 stars "liked it" on the Netflix chart.  Cut the twin Autobots out completely and it'd almost be to a 4 star "really liked it."

This and disarm's comments cover my impressions perfectly. I was relatively happy with it, and you cut the twins and a few other things out, and the movie becomes very enjoyable. The action in this one was indeed far better than the first for telling what was going on.

It's as if the writers ran out of steam 2 hours short of the finale. I really hope they know how they are going to wrap up this otherwise very strong season, because I certainly don't like the sudden turn.
92  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Would You Buy a house within 5 Miles of a Nuclear Power Plant? on: May 03, 2009, 01:43:17 PM
I live < 4.5 miles to what is known as 'Chemical Valley' here in Ontario, which is numerous oil and gas refining plants. These plants I would imagine are FAR more toxic (as they release numerous chemicals into the air, though in very minute quantities) than a Nuclear Power Plant. I still have no issue with where I live, as far as health concerns. So, I would have 0 issues with 4.5 miles away from a nuclear plant, considering you already live just ~7.3 miles away now. I'm not sure if the concern is with a meltdown, or just prolonged exposure, but at that distance simple exposure I can't imagine being a concern, and with a meltdown...well 7.3 miles you are still likely within that zone anyways. smile

Also, there appears to be a report saying there is some correlation between cancer rates and people living within *30* miles of a nuclear plant....so you are screwed already if that's the case.   ninja

There's a reason those teams are the top four in the conference, and Vancouver isn't.  And it goes beyond 3rd lines and defense.

Sure glad you said that before February eh.

Yep.  And I still see the Flames are one win away from winning the division and avoiding Chicago in the first round, in spite of all their current injuries.  Good luck with that Chicago matchup.

Hahaha. You have fun with that Chicago matchup actually. ROFL.

*giggle*

I never expected this from the 'Nucks this year, but I'm VERY pleased with how they have played lately! Bring on the playoffs!

I agree with what you said in the spoiler Kevin. I had the 'surprise' figured out early on I figured, and then doubted myself halfway through the episode. Very good way of surprising the audience.

Excellent episode. Of course, now that everyone is hooked/interested, expect to see a cancellation notice this week....

You guys are great - I thought the game was pretty damn boring.

If I was Dick LeBeau, I would have loved it.

36 yards a quarter isn't all that interesting to me.

Sorry if I offended the football Gods in here again.

This, coming from a Devils fan... icon_wink

I thought it was a pretty darn hard hitting game. Great football to watch? Not really, but it wasn't a bad game by any stretch. Compare this, to say, the Bengals/Eagles tie game stinkfest....this was far better. smile And, still, have to admire the strength of the Steelers defense. Should be a good Superbowl.

Just about weekly. I go out with a few friends each week to our local theatre (9 screens) on Tuesday, which is $4 day. While we have had the odd annoying person in the theatre, generally we all really enjoy the going out and having a good night on the town each week kind of thing.

I loved it.  I thought Max was funny without being either an idiot or a buffoon. He was a good shot, he was a quick thinker, but he just was clumsy sometimes.  One of my favorite movies of recent memory.

My feelings exactly on the the movie. It tiptoed the action/goofiness line perfectly, and took itself just seriously enough to be a blast I thought. Probably my #2 most enjoyable film this year.

Sometimes I wish I had a job that sent me places. I realize it likely isn't as enjoyable as it sounds, but being currently single, a love for seeing places, and not having family nearby means I'm able to pick up and go at a moment's notice.

I did manage to rack up ~27,000 miles over 6 trips, though all of those were vacation/touristy type trips.

This is, by far, one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Ever.

The fact that it is an Indiana Jones movie makes it even worse than one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

There was one great scene at the end though: when the hat blows in and jr.s about to pick it up and IJ is like no way son. That's my hat.

I give it 0 stars.  I should smash the disks so no one else has to endure this copy.

Fully agree 100%.

110  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [Olympics] NBC, you have got to be kidding me on: August 16, 2008, 05:20:28 PM
Anyone watching NBC's Olympics coverage this morning? Anyone notice a certain important race missing from NBC's coverage?

The Men's 100m final was at 10:30am EST, and the NBC apparently didn't bother to break away from the *round robin* 1st quarter coverage of men's basketball to cover a 10 second race (and a fantastic one at that). No mention of it whatsoever. They are going to show it in prime time instead.

How on earth do you not show (arguably) the single most important event in the Olympics, live? Because Gay didn't qualify? I wouldn't be surprised. Thank goodness I have CBC to follow instead. It was an amazing race.

Saw the movie on Tuesday. It was exactly what I thought it would be: Pure cheese, but fun. Only cost me $4 to see it, and I got my money and time's worth. Weisz missing was the biggest detriment to the movie really, otherwise, it was similar to the first two.

I didn't pay much attention to their cameras in the past, but Panasonic's TZ5 has been an outstanding camera to me. The 10x optical zoom is incredibly versitile, since I travel a lot and take lots of outdoor photography. It's amazing how a big zoom (on a small camera) can make such a huge difference.

119  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie]The Incredible Hulk on: June 18, 2008, 02:30:58 AM
Just got back. I liked it quite a lot, but not quite as much as Iron Man. To make a comparison, these two movies are like Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale. BG2/Iron Man has more story, more memorable characters, and in general the more complete package. IWD/Hulk takes the action parts from BG2, improves even more on the action parts, but drops a lot of the story and characterization to do so. Still, you can tell both came from the same developer/studio, since they both are quite polished and really, are good standards to judge other superhero movies against this summer.

Quote from: Caine on June 15, 2008, 06:11:41 AM

stark in the suit was much more believable and there's very little effective characterization going on when the hulk is on screen.  they make an attempt, but it comes off as king kong-ish instead of a real scene.

My friend mentioned this exact thing, that the Hulk seemed more like King Kong at times than anything, and it came off as odd.

As for Iron Man (Biyobi mentioned), it isn't any better than the Indy movie.

.......

I...ya, can't even remotely agree with that. I can only see The Dark Knight topping Iron Man for me this summer, Indy didn't come even close (it probably won't make top 5 for me this summer).

I hadn't seen the Indy films in over a decade, so I re-watched them before #4. Raiders was great, Temple was worse than #4, and Last Crusade was light but fluffy. I had no nostalgia going into #4, since I didn't remember a thing about the movies before re-watching them, only that I think I saw them. No warm and fuzzy memories or anything.

Indy 4 started with promise, but the jungle scene, the waterfalls, not to mention the ending put it firmly in the 'what the hell were they thinking?' camp.
