A full extra year in development on next-gen systems and the developers still couldn't code Font Size + 2. Tiny, tiny text on the screen.

This game was good on the Xbox 360. It's outstanding in first person on a next gen system. Wow.

The number of cars and pedestrians depends on where you are and the time of day. Certain parts of the city have plenty of pedestrians, while others have few. Go to the highways and you'll easily see the increased traffic density for cars.

Btw, I'm pleased that with the new generation of hardware we're finally done with having the same cars everywhere (did you steal a garbage truck? Suddenly the streets are crawling with them. At least that's how it used to be before). Traffic contains a wide variety of cars at all times now.

Yeah, I took a walk down the street as Michael and their were lots of people everywhere.  Must have been the time of day and where was I at.

I've discovered some cars I can drive in first person, others it is an exercise in frustration.  I was trying to take a tight corner this morning and ended up plowing into a group of people on the sidewalk.  I think I'll set it up to auto-switch into third person for driving.

How do you set up the auto-switch? I tried to do that last night and it always kept me in my current view of choice.

GTA V for PS4. This is now the third time I've re-bought a "remastered" game for the PS4. (Tomb Raider and Diablo III being the others).

I'll be binging on Destiny tomorrow night.
7  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Have you ever written anything substantial? on: November 14, 2014, 02:22:32 PM
I would love to be able to write something substantial. I enjoy reading very much and loved the creative writing assignments way back when I was in school. The problem is that I have less than zero creativity in my brain. I simply cannot think of anything to write about. I'm thinking of maybe taking a creative writing class at a local college just to force myself to write something. But I keep putting it off. But man, it would be so great if I could just get over this hump and write "something".

I'm all over FIFA 15. The demo was incredible. Plus everyone in my office gets this game so it gets very competitive, especially when we do a FIFA tourney over lunch. I need to practice to improve on my 3rd place finish in the spring.
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you (AT)Buying this week? (09/15) on: September 15, 2014, 04:31:40 PM
Nothing until FIFA 15 next week and then I think that wraps up the year for me.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: on: September 13, 2014, 12:35:35 PM
NHL 15, FIFA 15 Demo, and Diablo 3.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you (AT)Buying this week? (09/08) on: September 08, 2014, 02:16:41 PM
Ignoring Destiny (my shootyface days may be over as I no longer have any interest in playing these games), and getting NHL 15.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: on: September 04, 2014, 03:45:10 PM
I'm in Act V now and it's all new to me since I didn't get the expansion on PC. Nice change of pace since I have played all the other acts dozens of times each.

One does not simply finish up Diablo 3. It's a game that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend.

It's all I'll be playing this weekend. And next weekend. And the weekend after that.
16  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 29, 2014, 12:36:49 PM
Is there an option on the console where you can assign skills to any slot and each slot isn't locked to just a certain group? I think on the PC it was called "elective mode" or something, I can't remember. If so, does anyone use it?
17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 28, 2014, 07:09:10 PM
Playing this thing basically solo and I'm having a blast still and I'm still only in Act III and level 41. Haven't even hit the good stuff yet.
18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Playstation Plus - Now with lots more free games! on: August 27, 2014, 03:28:19 PM
That's really weak for the PS4. I think it's been long enough that they should be able to offer a AAA title like Knack on there soon. Is anyone actually buying Knack anymore?
19  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: August 25, 2014, 03:29:47 PM
I have two controllers bought a month apart (early December and early January) that has the rubber on the left thumbsticks on BOTH broken and/or rubbing off. I don't have the receipts because they were gifts so warranty doesn't apply to me apparently.
20  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 22, 2014, 01:46:54 PM
You can add me if you want. I'm not super reliable when it comes to being able to join online games with any regularity with two young kids at home but you'll see me on from time to time in the evenings hack'n and slash'n. I'm HyphenNation on PSN.
21  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 21, 2014, 07:42:29 PM

What is the appeal of playing this again on a console?

I get to play one of my favourite games on my couch on a bigger screen in HD. No-brainer for me.

I've found I can only play this game an hour at a time, tops. Any more than that and it's just too stressful.  icon_biggrin

I find the same. After an hour I'm tense/burned out and I need to play something else.

Oh my. I'm hooked again. Controller works amazingly well. Better than I ever thought they could pull it off. Glorious HD. From my couch.

Less clicking, more streamlined. Just as fun as on the PC.

This may be as close as I'll ever get to gaming perfection.

I'm justifying this by telling myself that I didn't buy the Reaper of Souls expansion, which is still $30. So I'm really only double-dipping for half of the cost, which is justifiable in terms of this being a definitive edition. Plus it will be worth $30 to not have to figure out the status of my Battlenet account again. I feel the Caine pain on that front.

Same here. I skipped the expansion knowing I was getting a console version anyways.

27  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3] The Last Of Us on: August 18, 2014, 02:04:34 PM
That sequence is weird. I was definitely able to get the keycard before the generator. However, the bloater sequence played out differently based on my approach.

My first few attempts I'd set up traps on the ramp and try to kill the bloater as he came up the ramp. But that wasn't working because he'd still catch up to me from behind while I tried to kill the Stalkers blocking the hallway. So in later attempts I tried to just sprint down the hall using the shotgun to clear stalkers and when I turned the corner to the hallway with the keycard door there was a bloater waiting for me. It's almost like the game positioned the bloater so I would always have to face him, no matter what my approach.

30  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Apple banning apps that reward video ads/sharing on: August 08, 2014, 04:34:25 PM
Hay Day does this but it's so unobtrusive and optional. Basically once in a while you find a ticket lying on the ground that offers you the chance to watch a clip for 1 diamond (a form of in game currency). If you click yes you watch a 30 second ad for another app and then the diamond gets added to your total. The diamonds are not necessary to playing the game and you can ignore the tickets completely.

So after seeing the side by side of Destiny on the PS3 and PS4 I sold my PS3 and am buying a PS4 tonight. smile

On the plus side it means I just "finished" several games in my backlog but now I need something to tide me over until Destiny actually launches.

So what game should I buy for the PS4?  I am leaning towards Infamous because it seems like the one I am most likely to be able to play with my kids watching (ages 8 and 6) because while their is a fair amount of violence you can choose to be good and save people.

What else should I consider?

Infamous is great.

If you're looking for kid friendly the LEGO Marvel game is really fun.

Not kid friendly I'd go with Last of Us or Tomb Raider or Assassins Creed.

If you're into sports FIFA and MLB The Show are pretty great.

It's an older title, but I just picked up Cook, Serve, Delicious! and I'm completely addicted to it.  The more freeform way you can progress through the game, choosing your own new foods, food upgrades, and equipment, is a welcome change compared to the super structured way most time management games have you advance.  If you've ever enjoyed a Sally's Spa type game, I highly recommend it.

Oh man, I sunk hours into that game. I think I got my restaurant up to five stars. It's been a while though, may have to fire that back up again.

Catheter made me laugh.  Rest of the trailer did not.  Dumb and Dumber was the only Jim carrey movie that I ever liked.

Looked like a lot of rehashing the original.

Might catch this on netflix.

You didn't like The Truman Show?

I'm on the other end. They are basically paperweights at this point. I've gotten some recent mileage out of The Show but for whatever reason Infamous 2 didn't suck me in and my Xbox One hasn't been turned on in probably three months.

I don't even know what's on the horizon the look forward to... NHL 15, I guess?

I'm with you on this. The first few months of the year were great in terms of gaming content for me (FIFA, AssCreed, Tomb Raider, Infamous, MLB The Show). But now there is nothing on the horizon this year that I'm really interested in except for The Last of Us and NHL 15 (Batman was there, but delayed now).
