Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Superpower 2 Impressions

I haven't had too much time to mess around with it, but I have to agree with Charatan on the presentation. For a game of this magnitude it's almost necessary to include a tutorial. I'm going to have to wait for some play tips to start showing up before I can truly wrap my head around it. Did you have better luck dbt? You're one of strategy game masters so we're counting on you to figure it out and learn us all.

I think I'll snag the demo too as I really dig the premise of this game. I want to know if they addressed the issues from the first one. I recall reading that the developers said they tried to put a lot of effort in to doing just that. <crosses fingers>

I played through part of it back in the day when I worked at a game shop. It was a pretty decent adventure game with a great, if disguting, premise. Karma's a bitch.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Day 4 without Pepsi...

I used to drink a lot of soda, but once I got back in to exercising regularly the cravings went way down. Nowadays I have a couple sodas a week if that as I mostly drink water. I try to reserve my Mt. Dew splurges for when my allergies are bad and I need a little boost.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Beer - best and worst?

Mmm, beer. Anyone else have the Homer Simpson talking beer opener? Best:Newcastle Brown Ale (like liquid candy for me) Abita Turbo Dog New Belgium 1554 Paulaner Oktoberfest Guinness Dos XX Amber Bass Amstel Lite Red Stripe Yuengling Pilsner Urquell Worst:Coors Lite, Bud Lite, Miller Lite Super Lite carb beers (just drink water and a shot of vodka already) Meister Brau, The Beast, Natty Lite, <insert college "brew" here> IPAs and Sam Adams always give me heartburn. Are these beers more hoppy? They always taste bitter to me and I can only get one down before I start feeling bad.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 news - does this actuall make people feel better?

If they're not doing any in-depth testing in-house at Valve then show stoppers will always get through. It's impossible to predict what users will try to do with software. Sure it's taken a heckuva long time to finish the game, but it seems like they're actually close this time. So we're now hearing about the real issues with releasing the game instead of the questionable problems of the past. Now if they push it off another 6 months because of a 'major' show stopper or something...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Midway Arcade Treasures 2/Kingdom Under Fire - Out this week

I'll be picking up MAT2 tomorrow. But after playing the demo I'm honestly surprised at the interest in KUF. I just felt underwhelmed by it. The graphics were not very good and voice acting was, IMHO, very bad. I'll admit that I've never been in to the Dynasty Warriors gameplay style, but I've always understood why some would enjoy them. What am I missing about KUF that makes it so good? Is the final version different/improved over the demo?

Great thread and thanks for those links disarm.
Isn't it about time for some Terry Tate office linebacker? They even made a short film about him and sensitivity training. Good stuff.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Halo 2 has gone gold!

Excellent! What's the hub-bub? Well one of the best games of the current generation is getting a sequel. For me Halo ranks in the same league as Half-Life and NOLF. Great story, smooth control, sweet graphics, excellent sound and top notch polish all around. You can't please everybody as some genuinely won't like it and some are just curmudgeons. But this is one of the few where it seemed to satisfy a high majority of gamers.
I enjoyed Halo for the singleplayer portions far more than the little I put in on the multi. Sure there's fun to be had in multi-play, but I think the next gen of consoles is when it will really come of age. Live has done some fantastic things and continues to improve regularly. Personally I'm doing more and more of my gaming on consoles nowadays. HDTV, surround sound and friends on the comfy couch is tops for me.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Delayed?

I kind of hope it's delayed too. I counted six games in November alone that I want to play at some point. And I still have 4 or 5 on my shelf that need some thumb lovin'. And let's be honest, for most X-Box owners November is all about Halo 2 (and probably a good month or two afterwards).

Wow, I've been so busy at work this past week that I just assumed another server problem. But I finally hunted down quartertothree which led me here (don't know why I didn't think of it first, doh). It really is a bummer and one of those 'change is weird' moments. Thanks for the great welcome here at CG!

After looking at the screen shots my interest has gone down. Where are the Mario characters? All I see is Anime which is a big turn off for me. I like all of the features though.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Best pictures of the PSP and Nintendo DS

I've got to say I'm pretty disappointed with Nintendo's offering. It still has the same flimsy looking d-pad used on the sp. And just two more little tiny buttons on the front. Sure there are two screens, but they both seem pretty small. I love Nintendo's games but they seem stubborn against anything beyond slight evolutionary changes (ok, two screens is a big change, but you get my point). Meanwhile, I'm not a fan of the PS2 library, but that handheld looks great! A high-res large screen with some solid looking controls. I'll wait a bit for them to smooth out any wrinkles, but so far I'm very impressed. And wireless gaming to boot with people close to you! Here's the MSNBC article on them: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4953569/

I do like it on the X-Box, but I really wish they had downloadable mods from the community though. Although I almost always pick my big screen and surround sound, the mods tempt me sometimes to unload my X-Box version for the PC.
