Actually what i was thinking about today, while I was steaming, was more in the mortal realm. It would be some sort of unmistakeable signal to idiot drivers that tell all other drivers that there is an idiot among them. Some sort of distintive horn/light combination.

In other words, AUTO PWNAGE!!1!!1!

Having fun with this as well just finished Mission 5. Just put down RTW after beating the long campaign.

I really wish the SP allowed you to play other races. It is amazing that each race has so much potential, but its only used in MP.

You can also tell Trump is really annoyed that the little gimmick of being able to bring 3 people into the boardroom as opposed to 2 has been an utter failure. I don't think ANYBODY has brought three people in yet so far - am I wrong?

If you think abou it, why would anybody ever bring in 3 people? That's just one more person you have to defend against. In almost every case, the person brough in turns against the PM, so why expand that, unless there is a very good reason.

Nothing pisses me off more than a driver on a cell phone, going UNDER the speed limit, in the left lane and not being able to pass. I had the pleasure of being behind THREE of these aholes this morning on the wonderful Florida highways. I was able to cut two of them off and slam my brakes in front of them to show them what I thought of their cell phone habits.

It infuriates me so much, I feel like i could actually take a human life.

Green- I had that Microcruiser, but i totally forget about it for probably something like 15-20 years!!! Wow, i can't believe how that memory came back to me in a rush. The wings were guns that shot those rubber darts and the remote made it move around.

Thanks for bringing that childhood memory back. Next thing you know, teh wife will find me curled up in a fetal ball on the floor.

Oh wait, I had this guy as well.

Those MicroMan figures look very similar to the MICRONAUT's of the late 1970's.

I know there was a GG'er who was a big collector of Micronaut toys...he has a website with the pic's...pretty cool old school toys.

That would be me. And yes I have those figures above as well. They even have a MicroMan scalled batman which is cool.

Here is pics of my collection from about 4 years ago.

Rob, those pics are awsome!! I remember that huge biotron, you could put other figures into his chest.  My favorite was Force Commander with the flying pack and Baron Karza! I haven't thought about Micronauts in....many years. Thanks.
2330  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / My son is 6 today! here's what we got him.... on: October 14, 2004, 07:41:56 PM
I was a huge micronauts fan. I had every comic from #1 until the series finished. I remember thinking that I only had 10 cents to spend and i had to decide between the brand new star wars comic and micronauts. Guess i made the wrong call

As far as kid bdays, my son just had his 4th, he got a remote control batmobile (that sucker is fast), an electric driving jeep, a swingset, a ton of smaller crap (spider man shooters, dolls, games, etc).  Plus we returned a ton of crap for a $250 gift card at Toysrus!! I ended up buying him 2 lightsabers so we can duel in the dark. (Hint to parents to be: little kids hit VERY LOW!!!)

2332  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Star Wars Episode 3 Trailer - SPOILERS on: October 14, 2004, 02:48:32 PM
The SW DVD has a great feature called Vader Under the Mask with some shots of EpIII.

They also had the making of the lightsaber. It was interesting to hear Lucas explain why swordfighting gets progressively better. The first obi-wan/Vader fight was between an old man, who gave up his jedi ways and  vader, who was part machine. The second fight with Luke was better b/c Luke started to learn some skills, by the final fight b/t luke and vader, Luke was a full jedi, able to use all his skills.

The prequel swordfights were the apparently the best because these were Jedi at their prime with 1000s of years of techniques behind them which were all lost during the clone wars. Interesting way to explain how their budget got better with each movie.

Same. Awesome place. Bali Hai!! (BTW, if you look at the motu (ring) in the bottom right corner is the airport that was built by the SeeBees in WWII.)

Going to Disney mid November. My buddy works at the AK hotel, so we pay half price on the hotels and get free park admission. Since the kids are so young (4 and 8mos), we're only doing 3 days at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, doesn't seem like much more we can do with the really little ones.  Its only a 3 hour drive, so we figured we'd give it a shot.

2339  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I Hate Consoles! on: October 13, 2004, 01:47:49 PM
I wouldn't say i hate 'em, they're just not for me. I did briefly toy with the idea of getting an xbox or ps2 to hook to my widescreen when the price came down, but that quickly passed since i dont have enough time to play the pc games i have.

BTW, JP this board has as much to do with consoles as the 'off topic' board at GG had to do with games. In all the time i've been here, this is actually the first thread i read about consoles  biggrin
2340  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Non-gamers don't get gamers. on: October 12, 2004, 09:33:44 PM
I actually try not to play the more bizarre games in front of her. Since our second baby was born 8mos ago, we've moved my 'office' into our massive bedroom, so its very hard to hide my gaming (when i actually should be doing other things).  She's a big Star Trek and Sci Fi fan, but i haven't been able to get her to even look at a game.

We've been together 13 years+2 kids, but we've never once discussed my gaming hobby/obsession. Is that weird??
2341  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / R&P Decision on: October 12, 2004, 09:17:15 PM
Quote from: "th'FOOL"
Here's what I think the problem is-

Gone Gold was pretty much just a message board for so long that people forgot/ never knew that it was once an awesome site about GAMING.  If anything, we here at CG want to carry on the spirit of that era of the site.  Those of you who went to the site JUST so you could post in R&P are missing the point of what we are trying to do here at Console Gold.

Gone Gold's staff consisted primarily of forum moderators, and that's all they had to do.  We, on the other hand, write reviews, previews, post news, create custom graphics, go out to the game publishers for special events, generally keep our finger on the pulse of console gaming (and soon PC gaming)- that's what this site is really about.  The forums have always been and always will be secondary.

That's not to say that our COMMUNITY will be secondary.  On the contrary, Eldon, our staff programmer, has some shit cookin' that will give the community more tools at their disposal for the sharing of gaming love than either site ever had.  There are some truly awesome things in the works, and we've only just started.

(my fave emoticon -> unibrow )

I'm sure i'll hang around anyway (since i'm having some real work stopping fun), but if these things happen, it would be great to have a great forum AND great game content. I know you guys held off on doing many things while GG was around (still can't believe its really gone), but if this site becomes more pc oriented, i would gladly stay around.

I think R&P was created more to 'lance the boil' that was affecting EBG and not everyone was happy. I'll miss R&P, but i joined GG for gaming, not political discourse.

I flipped on the Sat night version with the extended boardroom. It was EXTREMEMLY different than the Thursday version. First, Trump asked Pamela why she didn't bring Sandy since QVC specifically told HIM that they "hated her". He basically accused her of picking people she didn't like, rather than someone who didn't perform.

Also, Pamela said something about lawyers not having good business sense and George got very angry and said on behalf of lawyers, he was personally offended. He also said that Pamela didn't know what kind of business training lawyers had before law school. Stacy piped in to say that she worked at an auction house before law school.

BTW, both Stacy and George both went to my alum, Brooklyn Law, so i thought it was great

Yes, I had a question asked just before Gone Gold went down.

What is the culture penalty in the settlement details screen? Where does that come from and how can I combat it?

-Cota

Three ways to combat culture:

1. Exterminate everyone in the city; or
2. Tear down the pagan temples and put up your own.
3. Disband troops in the city. Mercenaries dont count toward pop increases.

Oh, this would have fallen under the cool moments in RTW thread.

I was doing a quick battle siege of Rome and was having fun hurling fierly bolders into the city and watching Rome burn.

I noticed that the only building the i couldn't burn was the aqueduct full of water. Just an observation of the cool attention to details by the devs.

Third, everyone is just so dang nice!

So true, it reminds me of when i moved outta NYC to FL and around 10pm we get a knock on our door. I yelled for the wife to bolt the doors and get the gun, turns out it was just our neighbors welcoming us to the street

A big thank thank you to KSD and the CG staff for putting up with the GG refugees.

Considering the incredible amount of bandwidth we are probably sucking up, is there anyway we can support the site? I see one ad on the home page and clicked through a few time, but let us know if you feel increased pressure of maintaining the site, you'll find this group to be very helpful.

If you need content, web work or even legal advice, you'll find some good talent among the refugees.

Please let us know what we can do to help.

(BTW, being able to see who is online is a great feature!)

I second that. Whether talking about games, raising kids, his life or life as a cop, he always had a poignant way about stating things that was very 'real' and usually moved me more than anything else i was reading on the net at the time.

It wasn't until his posts started to slow down that i discovered the underworld that is the GG forum. It felt like home.

I don't think you can retrain your pre marius troops into the new ones.  I would either use the old troops as cannon fodder or disband them in cities that need some growth.

My economy was so strong by endgame that i just bribed a bunch of large armies and used them with some elite troops (for the coolness factor) for the final push against Rome.
