Hadron Smasher

and I'm on Central time.

I'm working until 7:15 this evening after oversleeping this morning.  I should be available anytime after 8.
8482  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Rock Band 2 Band on: October 03, 2008, 09:11:36 PM
Think of Battle of the Bands as a high score bulletin board.  You (and your band, if applicable) play the designated setlist and are competing on the specified criteria.  You do not play head-to-head with anyone at the time.  Your score is posted and the Friends tab will show you who has previously performed the battle, what their scores were, and where you rank once you've performed.  When you re-enter the BotB area, you will get a screen that will inform you how many places you've been bumped down on each active battle and the time remaining if you want to try it again.

Since I can't match up score-wise with some the savant-level players on OO/GT, I typically stick to streak/star battles.

I'd be interested in some MP when available.  Anything on for this evening?

Guitar: Hard, not top level
Drums: Medium

Kinda takes the fun out of the old joke about what you're going to do after college with your degree.

"Yeah, that'll be great when they open up those geology mines... nvrmind."

Of course, you could always substitute factory, although I think geology may be joke proof along that vein.

Well played.

Allow me to clarify.  I can appreciate a beautiful woman that's done up with well-done makeup.  I am less appreciative when I am likely to wind up consuming said makeup.
8491  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: As of this Weekend - Personal Drinking Restrictions Begin on: October 02, 2008, 05:38:35 PM
While I appreciate most of your reasons, I believe that a household prohibition on alcohol may backfire by exoticizing it to your son.  I grew up in a household where there sometimes beer in the fridge, sometimes not.  Mom kept Kahlua in the house for her awesome fudge cakes and there was usually some other liquors around.  Since it was never made a big deal on eway or another, it was never an issue in my household.

Also, watching the news was usually a family/dinner affair and we would discuss things that came on tv.  There was usually a story every week about drinking involved with some stories.  I feel this did more to keep me from glorifying alcohol than anything else.  If it hadn't been around and a topic of conversation, no telling how I would have wound up.

I find that interesting but I also find that the before pictures are much more appealing and attractive than the after pictures.  Maybe it's just me but I prefer natural over made up any day of the week.

An interesting idea...

Assuming you're not in a Roth IRA, expect to lose 30% of the value when you remove it (+/- based on your tax rate).  You'll pay full income tax + 10% early withdrawl.
8495  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Palin opens mouth, useless comes out. on: October 02, 2008, 04:58:02 PM
Palin reminds me of my first girlfriend.  She had plenty of opinions on things, but could not rationally defend any of these positions.  Over time, it became apparent that all of her opinions had been placed there by her step father.  To this day, I refer to her as a chocolate Easter Bunny: sweet on the outside, nothing on the inside.

Just watched this one off the DVR.  They certainly came out with a strong opening.  One of my favorite actors stars, Peter Krause, formerly of Sports Night and Six Feet Under.

I must say that Bellamy Young is a beautiful woman.

Here's the ABC site for the show, but it requires a plugin to watch the episodes.  I can get to the "extras" clip, but the episodes aren't cooperating at the moment.

Unfortunately, writing isn't like ditch digging.  I'd be more upset with him if it wasn't a quality series that I wanted him to deliver a quality effort.

That being said, his lack of progress is one of the reasons that I own but have not yet read book 4.

Furthermore, Buffalo beating Arizona wouldn't be an upset special: the only reason Arizona is favored is because they are at home.  Please, try again.

And because, as I've said before, Buffalo is overrated.  Their record is not indicative of their ability.  I'm not all that surprised to see Arizona favored.

I hate to say it, but he's right.  If this were college, the rankings would have tailed off after weeks 2 and 3 despite the wins.  I expect a win for week 5 into the bye.  Weeks 7-10 are the true test, San Deigo followed by the 1st round of division play.

Didn't home field advantage used to be worth 7 points?

While checking on memory stuff, I found the key stored as a separate memory item on the HD.  Don't delete it...  I would imagine as long as it's present, you should be able to re-import at will, but I have nothing to back me up in that assertion.

I watch the Rock Band DLC page on wiki.  Again, there's not much in the way of advanced warning, but it's a good resource.

As for editing songs, I find it odd that Hammerhead made it through for Rock Band, but got sanitized in the Madden 09 menu music.

There are 123 checkboxes counting both sides.  I stand at 43, or 35%.  The outliers that I don't expect to be on most personal lists are The Apartment, Easy Rider, Amadeus, and Singin' in the Rain.
