You can refuse service to anyone for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all ... as long as it's not an illegal reason.  And in many locales, sexual preference has become an illegal reason.

Six weeks of no foreclosures from Freddie and Fannie (God, those are stupid names that I'm tired of hearing...)

Quote
The six-week halt will begin Nov. 26, a day before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, and last through Jan. 9, the companies said in separate statements today. The hiatus is designed to give servicers more time to implement a streamlined loan modification program for struggling borrowers.

I find that argument to be disingenuous.  To my knowledge, a fair number of pastors/preachers/etc. are paid for their services to marry individuals.  Since this is the case, they are in a business.  Would the same argument not allow them to be sued if they were to refuse to perform their paid services to a couple that they do not approve of such as a location where gay marriage was legal?  Can I sue the mohel for refusing to perform a bris on a Palestinian child at request?

I'm sorry he has this disease and I certainly wish his reality was different.

But show me where the drug has a chance of putting this patient into remission.  This is a heartstring story that attempts to ignore the financial realities.  This case is financial triage.  The costs spent prolonging this man's life can be better used to purchase the services that have a much better chance to save others.

What has the government done better than private industry? Anything? Serious question here, not a challenge.

Police, fire, national defense.  Or do you want rent-a-cops, ADT, and Blackwater protecting your life and property?

The realty industry likes to pretend that they are trustworthy and in it for the buyers' best interests.  Same for the investment professionals.  I learned through personal experience not to trust anything that's on a variable rate.  Too many people took realtors at their word and believed that ARMs were a good thing.  I don't have any credit cards that run on adjustable rates after getting burned on those.  Everybody thinks about what benefits them now rather than what will happen in the future.
8517  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Microsoft + 120gb HD= on: November 18, 2008, 11:54:53 PM
I made sure that I got the highest HDDs available.  It's actually why I bought the 360 first (which turned out well for me) because they had discontinued the 80GB SKU of the PS3 at the start of the year and I refused to purchase a 40GB that was not backwards compatible with my PS2 games.  But then, I got Rock Band at the same time and knew that I would need space for all the DLC.

Add the SP campaign for Call of Duty: World at War.
