Just got done playing the demo and it seemed to work out pretty well. The story certainly seems interesting, what with the demo mission having you defend a launch vehicle from attack. I would say I had about 80-90% success with the verbal orders without any calibration. Some of the failures were because I was already halfway down an order tree when I tried to give another order.

All in all, it looks pretty cool. I'm looking forward to it.

8487  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [Comics] When will I learn? (Now with the List) on: October 26, 2008, 01:49:59 AM
I'm going through my 7 long boxes of comics that I accrued from 2001-2004 and hoping against hope that I can get a substantial portion of my investment back. All told, I have probably 4 boxes of DC, two of Marvel and one of independents.

I will be keeping my Hedge Knight comics from George R. R. Martin and am toying with hanging onto Sojourn, Powers, and Rising Stars, but I don't know...

I spent the last half of the 90s in the throes of Magic cards and other assorted card games (Anybody want to buy a sealed case of Middle Earth: The Wizards starters?) before deciding that I would never again play something that worked on the rarity scale. And trust me, there were temptations when the miniatures gaming started taking off.

Instead, after spending a sufficient time exposed to a long-time comic book geek at a former job, I started reading comics again. And it seemed like every time I turned around, there was a new book coming out that looked interesting or some mini-series with my favorite characters. I wound up with something like a $40/week habit. Getting fired from my job was the only thing that stopped me.

All told, I'm looking at close to 1000 individual issues and hoping I can get $1 per out of them. Anybody sufficiently deep into the comic business to know the state of the market? My Dad has a guy at work that's interested in them and I've been working on compiling the list. I will post it here when I'm done.

If I can't get a sufficient price that makes me happy from him, I may forego a trip to see Texas Tech play Oklahoma State to try my luck with the dealers at Wizard World Texas.

My first year of college, there was a girl in our dorm of a certain moral lassitude.  Her nickname among the crowd I ran with was FOD (Faces of Death) because sleeping with her was taking your life in your own hands.  After a late night viewing of Star Wars, she was renamed "Falcon" after Leia's line upon first seeing the ship.

They were performing a public service.

Quote
The Beggar's Canyon womp rat reproduce at an alarming rate. Once it reproduced to such a point that the population could not be kept in check, and womp rats were hunting Jawas and raiding storehouses. The Imperial prefect of Tatooine and the Affiliated Moisture Farmers then passed a bounty ordinance of ten credits per rat. Luke Skywalker and his friend Biggs Darklighter got enough womp rats to upgrade their T-16 skyhoppers and have enough money for the Academy.

I'm listening to the intro to the song and I'm already bored. Yeah, that'll be fun to listen 300 times for someone who buys the CD.

Music Pet Peeve:  Songs, Empire by Queensryche for example which quotes stats about defense spending in the middle of the song for like 30 seconds, that have stupid crap at the beginning end or middle that you're forced to listen to every time.  They should have a re-mixed version of the song that's the same without the nonsense.

As for the rest of the song. Too much distortion on the vocals...and yes. Very generic. It sucks.

The judicious use of editing software could solve that problem.  WavePad is a good one.  I've used it to make my own ring tones before as well.

I think the problem is that due to the nature of the show, they don't get a ton of rehearsal time.  I watched a show once that talked about how their week goes and some of it is taken up by people presenting their ideas for skits and such, meaning there wasn't a ton of time to rehearse and get all the lines memorized.  Alec probably just showed up that night.

These guys are probably all on drugs, which makes memorization hard. slywink

Watch a show about making a show like that.

I stopped reading here :  '[edit] Break-action
For most of the history of the shotgun, the break-action breech loading double was the most common type
'

I don't even know what the disagreement was, but even there they include break-action as a breech loading type of weapon.

The point of the discussion was that even a pump-action shotgun loads the shell through the breech.  The opposite would be a muzzle-loading shotgun.  If you can find me a modern one of these, I'll be impressed.
