I agree with The Grue.  When you get to hard, there are songs where it is not tenable to be bridging to orange with your pinky, as it is easier to shift up with the strength of your index finger than overworking the pinky.

Myself, I am allergic to cats at a level of 3 out of 4 based on their scale.  I was never tested for dogs, but my reactions lead me to believe that my level with them is 1.  I can be around dogs and even play with them, but I need to wash my hands immediately thereafter, as any contact with my eyes afterwards will not result in a pleasant experience.

And as for just testing it, again, allergic reactions take time to develop.  Just sticking your face in varios dog furs isn't going to give you the information that you would need.

Scratch test, which its own brand of hell.  She gets to lay face down on a exam bed while the techs deliberately scratch her back in about 20-30 places and put all the local allergens on her back.  You then get to sit there while the body does its thing, not moving, while the itching begins, and you can do nothing about it.  Then, some maddening time later, they come back in and write down all the numbers of how badly inflammed each location got.  They will provide some cream for afterwards to stop the tortuer, and you will be good for sympathy points to wash her back off when you get home.

Refund is currently "pending" in my account.   I filed before receiving Form 5498 from my 401k to rollover IRA transfer.  And since it was an internal transfer, there was no 1099-R to worry about.

After rising today, realizing that it was going to take at least 30 minutes to chip my car into a driveable condition, probably an hour to get to work on ice-slicked roads with plenty of people around that don't know how to drive on ice and likely an hour drive that might result in damage to my vehicle, I decided that one day of PTO was not worth the risk and frustration that would entail me leaving the house before the afternoon thaw.

Dallas is expecting the worst icing conditions in five years.  It's been raining since yesterday, so everything is nice and wet for the temperatures that have been dropping since the sun went down last night.

By the evening, nearly a quarter inch of ice could be on roadways, trees and overpasses in Dallas.

I am supposed to go play dodgeball tonight followed by drinking and talking with the ladies at the league bar followed by our kickball HH marathon that falls on Thursday this week and of course would go out for a bit on Friday and stupid Super Bowl on Sunday.

I may have to quit drinking.

But then what will you do during recess?

Righty-o.  I love that movie.  It's darker than dark, the Vegas sequence can be kinda brutal, but after that, it's comedy gold, Jerry!

Sorry for the delay, I forgot that I had answered that one and forgot to check back.  Moliere was kind enough to remind me.

The other thought I had was that perhaps I could find a Holiday bundle at a different store with a Jasper chip in it, then return the Falcon Holiday Bundle to that store. But I've also heard that most places scan the serial number of the system? Do all places do that? And then again, I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with this ethically. Technically, an unopened system is an unopened system, but still.

There's also the SKU issue.  Unless the barcodes match identically, you will be SOL anyway.

Just got done watching FSM.  2/5 stars.  Decidedly Meh.  I got as many laughs out of the 5-minute gag reel as I did the film.  It was good to see Mila Kunis in a non-Jackie role.

And I will be so happy when Jonah Hill's 15 minutes of fame are up.  I can not stand him.  Bill Hader is not far above him on my list either.

Jason Segel lays it on a bit thinck, but I guess it doesn't grate on me in HIMYM, since he's not the sole focus for the entire episode.  Everything in moderation, I suppose.

Gonna miss him. Not sure how it will work out without him on there. He is supposed to appear off and on but it wont be the same Im afraid. Im worried that it will be the end of the show.

Too bad Peterson won't.  I think it can have promise, but I haven't watched the latest yet.  The preview looked good and it looks like they're not trying to replace Gil, which they couldn't do anyway.  If they can get the rest of the lab cast to step up and get some more decent CSIs to fill the void since they lost Sara, Warrick, and Gil, they'll be okay.  I'm not going to discount it without a shot.

I certainly gave it a shot with ER, but once they got rid of Greene's wife and killed off Gallant in a two minute sequence, I just couldn't take any more of Neela's whining, didn't care for Morris, and John Stamos just got on my nerves.

Time will tell.  If there were a way to turn it off while using the gun, I'd love it.  But again, I'd have to buy a Wii and that's not likely, so I guess my minor quibbles are in vain.

Oh, and Wiki says:
Also, a new feature called Battle Screen will add challenge to the game. It will expand the camera beyond the screen, forcing players to move their point of view. The game will also once again feature two player co-operative play.

Now if they'll just get around to implementing head-tracking, I'd be all over it.
7587  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: A cop, a secret agent, and a of the Dead - Wii on: January 23, 2009, 11:15:45 PM
That almost makes me want to buy a Wii (and make it the console trifecta).  I don't like the circle on the screen, though.  If you're going to make it point and shoot, you shouldn't need it.

My guess is that the snake was defanged, judging by the fact it didn't draw blood.

It would only have fangs if it were poisonous.  Which would be really stupid in the first place.  It looks like a constrictor type, which means it runs the same as any other run of the mill animal bite, but IANAH (I am not a Herpetologist).

I understand and certainly didn't take any offense, nor thought that was your intent.

There can be a certain comedy in a sad sack type character.  Heck, look at Eeyore.  He's completely morose, yet an entertaining character within the fabric of the Hundred Acre Wood.  He does have a certain perseverity in rebuilding his house, but he certainly never "gets over it."  If the film comes off to me as you read it, I certainly may not care for it.

I haven't seen it yet.  This weekend will tell me if I like it or not.  Given that's it's by Apatow, I don't have high hopes.

And I have a family and personal history of depression, so there are times that "pulling myself together" just doesn't quite work.  Self-pity is something that I am familiar with.  I have gotten a lot better over the last several years, but there's probably more in that film for me to relate to than you, Pete.

Hey!  Someone else remembers that game!  I love FFA!

I didn't realize that it was the start of a non-FF series:

Final Fantasy Adventure: Game Boy
Secret of Mana : Super Nintendo
Seiken Densetsu 3 : Super Famicom
Legend of Mana : PlayStation
Sword of Mana : Game Boy Advance
Children of Mana : Nintendo DS
Friends of Mana : Mobile phone
Dawn of Mana : PlayStation 2
Heroes of Mana : Nintendo DS

But then, I only had the original Gameboy and the PS2 (for a short while).

Not all of us are PeteRockian smooth wif the ladies.  As one who needs to grow a man sack on occassion, I may enjoy it more than you did, Pete.

Superbad was as the title suggested.  If it had been even one iota worse, I would have ejected it before it was over.  Kinda like I did with Napoleon Dynamite.  And looking at Apatow's list of films, it doesn't bode well.  There's little on that list that have interested me enough to even attempt watching, much less that I enjoyed.

Then there's Big O.  Imagine if Batman was a negotiator instead of a vigilante, had a giant robot instead of the Batmobile, Alfred had only one eye, and Robin was played by a teenage girl android with little emotional response.  A coastal area has suffered massive damage, the populace has no memories before the event, and people's statuses are determined by what skills they can remember and where they were when they "woke up."

CNet has it.

...Microsoft has axed hundreds of positions from its game division.  A Microsoft representative confirmed on Friday that ACES will be shut down but added that the company remains committed to the Flight Simulator franchise, though she would not provide details.  But while Microsoft's game division was hit hard, VentureBeat reported that its Lionhead and Rare studios--the former just published Fable II--as well as its Forza Motorsports studio were untouched.  Microsoft did not immediately confirm whether those studios are being affected by the layoffs.
