What's the consensus on platform for this one? I will probably get it on 360. Is everyone pretty much playin on PC?
I went PC due to the better graphics and mods. plus, I got it with a video card I was buying. make sure to pick it up today if you can jump on it though. Amazon has a sale on all 3 versions. D'oh! Missed it! How much was it?

Got my Amazon preorder yesterday and played for about an hour. I got an invite to play with some GT guys (Thanks, Hark!) but I decided to get my feet wet in Boot Camp first. So far, I like it! I'm still terrible, but was showing some signs of improvement by the 4th or 5th round and even was able to call in a killstreak and finish a round >1.0. Sadly, I'm looking at my schedule and don't see when I'll have a chance to play again before Saturday, assuming I don't have to work this weekend.
For anyone else who preordered through Amazon, did you get your Nuketown 2025 code yet? I still don't have mine.

I will buy it and I will suck at it. I'm still playing, and sucking at, MW3.
As I still have my copy and have been feeling up for a little MP, I could be persuaded to suck along with you. Ummmmm...yeah, that wasn't the ideal choice of words. The wife is studying for finals, which means I will be left alone all weekend...

I bought the TB X41s over a year ago and I love them. The transmitter plugs into the optical out of the 360 and is powered by the 360's USB port. The headsets are lightweight and very comfortable and the sound and 3D effect are excellent. It's especially noticeable and useful in games like COD. Chat volume is separately adjustable. I originally bought them because my gf was moving in with me, and now I find that I prefer them to my 5.1 sound system even when there's no one else at home.
Price is $140 on Amazon, but you should also plan on buying rechargeable AAA batteries, as they eat through batteries pretty quick.

So... I boughten the elite premium membership today in anticipation of new maps (new maps!). Do I need to separately download the maps, or will they just sort of show up? If I need to download them (which I suspect), where can they be found?
If anyone's online, send me an invite.

The best thing you can do is simply keep playing. I agree with this to an extent, but I've been playing CoD games for years. I've played every one since the original MW except WaW, and I've got about 35 hours of MP on this one and I'm still the worst player I know (Hark was kind enough to point out several women he considered worse at the game than I). I feel like there is something very fundamental that I'm missing. I suspect that it has to do with my movement around the map and my use of cover. I wish there was a way to spectate because I suspect that if I had someone who was good at the game watching over my shoulder, saying "no no, don't go there" and "pay attention to that" I could improve. It's very frustrating. Edit: Turns out I've only played about 26 hours. My K:D is sub 0.5 and my longest kill streak is 5.

Second member! First time I've even been able to log on to Elite in days. I was trying out the survival mode last night, which is fun enough, but I get stuck at wave 6 when the choppers show up and I don't have any anti-air. How do you get past that? Use anti air? Where do you get the anti-air? Can't find it at the weapons vending machine. Is it somewhere else?

Edit: Actually, other than the page Hark linked to, I still can't connect to Elite. I can't imagine that they have the balls to actually charge money for this.

Go to multiplayer in MW3 and you will see it in the main menu there about halfway down.
Done that. It just gives me the option of downloading it (again) or no thanks. Edit: Got it working. I would call it anticlimactic had I actually expected anything. Well, that is laughable. Now, how do I get the 2 hours of double xp? Also, how do I get the double xp for entering a MTN DEW code?

The first Modern Warefare's single player campaign was fantastic. One of the best single player experiences I've ever had. MW2 was not nearly as good.
Now, pardon me for a dumb question. What, exactly, is Elite? I downloaded a free add-on on the XBox, which doesn't seem to do anything. Am I supposed to connect that to something on the web? Does it cost money? What do I get, other than online stat tracking?

HEY GUYS!
So, I haven't read this entire thread. Or really followed any MW3 news at all. But my preorder is coming in this morning and, as I do every year around this time, I've resolved that THIS YEAR I'm going to really put in the time and attention to get good at this game. Fortuitous unemployment should help.
So, what do I need to know? Is there anything I should read this morning while I wait for my preorder to arrive? And what's all this about tokens anyway?
Thanks!
Your humble and obd't servant, Ike

BTW, I'm trying to race with 100% assists off this time through. Including no brake line (which is tough on new tracks) Only problem I have with the way assists are is when you get to the high end sports cars, some have stability and traction control by default in real life and I wish those cars just had it on in the game at no penalty. There's a reason they come with it I've been trying this too. In the single player, I won't use the racing line, but I'll generally run a few practice laps in free run with the line on just to learn the track. The only exception I've been using is that I've been using manual shifting but not clutch. That's just too much button-pushery. I've been loving the World Tour mode. I like how the additional race types add some nice variety. The one that I've been having trouble with though is the bowling races. Haven't beaten one yet. I got a couple of invites from Hark yesterday, but by the time I got in the lobby, they were already racing and I didn't have the patience to wait, so I went back to the SP. If anyone sees me on today, feel free to send me an invite. Currently unemployed, and the woman has midterms! There's been this annoying loud hiss whenever I hook up the mike though, and I don't know whether/how it will affect things in game. I'm using a Turtle Beach headset. I'd like to see the GT and Qt3 car clubs combine. There's a fair amount of crossover, and I think a bigger pool would benefit everyone. I'm not an administrator of either, though, so that's just my two cents. Anyhoo, off to race more!

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Madden 12 online league

Online leagues here have met with disappointment in years past, but I played in the Quarter to Three league last year, and it made it through two seasons and was a lot of fun. We're having some trouble rounding people up this year, so I thought I'd cross-post. Here's the link: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=65929Madden is very good this year. I think it suffers from some polish in the presentation and sound issues, but the gameplay is excellent. A lot of you already post on Qt3, so you know they're a bunch of likeminded, good guys who will play a good game of football. Anyway, check it out if you're interested.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: So If I'm Going to Philly, Where Do I Go to get a REAL Philly Cheesesteak?

So I was in Philly for a wedding and had budgeted enough time before my return for a cheesesteak and I remembered this thread.
We went to pat's; I had a "wiz wit" and my lovely bride had a provolone wit. Also, cherry soda and fries. They were delicious. I've had better cheesesteaks before, but none so authentic.
Also, Philadelphia is one of the worst places on earth. The city is a hideous slum and her inhabitants are the lowest form of classless barbarian.
We also picked up some cannolis but we're going to eat them on the ride home.
Edit: the cannolis were from Isgro and were excellent. Asians on the bus are noisy.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Witcher 1.5 is out today, Enhanced Directors Cut due July 31st

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I didn't want to start yet another Witcher thread.
So, I reinstalled this, having bought it years ago and never having played past Act 1. Few questions:
I installed the base game, patched it up to 1.4, then 1.5. I'm using a Win7 64-bit machine. At some point I started getting an error message saying that the Tages driver was incompatible with my system and would be disabled. As I recall, tages was the system that made your game degrade if it wasn't legit. On the other hand, I thought 1.5 was supposed to remove DRM. Will this mess up my game?
What's all this I hear about a director's cut? I know I've installed the enhanced edition (1.4). Should I be looking for yet another patch?
And on the subject of patches, what's this about a blood patch? I'm fairly sure I bought the import edition. I don't care so much about the boobiez, but what I've played through so far (and it's not much) has been pretty bloodless.
Thanks, Ike
Edit: Another question! I had thought that the EE came with a pdf game guide, but I can't find it. Do I have to download it, or is it somewhere on my hard drive?
