While I'm sure this is interesting, is there any reason this hasn't been moved to P/R Nonsense?  If no one else has requested it to be moved, I will.  Thanks.

GoG just added free expansions to three EA games, Alpha Centauri, Wing Commander 1 + 2, and Wing Commander Privateer.  I know a few people around here were miffed at the missing Alien Crossfire expansion for SMAC.  Well, rejoice and redownload.   Or buy if you've held off, they're still sale priced.

Man, and here I was wondering if two teams had ever tied each other twice in the same season.  Oh, and sorry Lions fans.  It's been a rough stretch.  I hope the Texans get some corners back before facing Brady and Luck.

Why would someone need two copies of Metal Gear Acid 2?  It's a pretty nice collection, but I have most of that.  If you change your mind about breaking it up, let me know.  I'd take a few games.

Digital triggers and a resistive touchpad?  Does Nintendo not even look at what the rest of the technological universe is using?  Even Apple is not above stealing good ideas from everyone else.  It just produces a better product overall.  Is it true you can't run digital games from an attached hard drive?  I like Nintendo games, but I'm beginning to dislike the company.  I am thankful we have at least one new console this year.  I'm sure I'll get one eventually.  Maybe I should pledge to finish my Wii backlog first.

Anyone still interested might want to check out the GoG Sale this weekend.  Perhaps one of the mods can convert this into a GT Link:

GoG Sale

Some good TBS including:

Silent Storm
UFO series
King's Bounty

Etherlords in interesting but may be an acquired taste.  I also enjoyed Star Wolves and Soldiers: HoWWII on that list, but they don't fit the topic very well.

Do you mean stuff like Dwarf Fortress, Cave Story and King of Dragon Pass or are you thinking of something more like Quake Live, Age of Empires Online and Command and Conquer Tiberium Alliances (or the frostbite 2 beta)?

FTL might work, but my copy is on steam so I can't really check.

Trailer for the PS3 Exclusive Missions, which are all about Benedict Arnold and his betrayal at West Point...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/10/23/assassins-creed-iii-expose-benedict-arnold-exclusively-on-ps3/

Pretty damn cool looking....but this sucks for 360 owners. I'd be pissed if I didn't have a PS3. I hate the idea of platform exclusive levels and characters....but I know why they do it.

Anyway, I'm psyched for the game....and AC3:Liberaton, which looks incredible BTW for the Vita.

I'll just Youtube the PS3 missions if I feel they're that important.  it's not enough to get me to rebuy the PS3 or pay for the eventual 360 DLC.  of course I'm planning on getting the Wii U version, so I should say Wii U DLC.

Liberation though, that's got the potential to sell me a Vita.

The thing about Assassins Creed 3 Exclusive Missions are, they are never coming to the 360. The other exclusive mission series, "The Copernicus Conspiracy" for AC: Brotherhood was never released for the 360. This is going to be the same type of thing. Myself, I would not buy a PS3 just for this...but it does make me happy that I have the ability to experience this for free....though I think it should be available to all. It seems pretty cool.

Agree with you about Liberation. It's pretty amazing that they were able to cram all of it onto the Vita. It's a real Assassins Creed game, not some watered down crap like Call of Duty: Black Ops looks like for the Vita.

PS3 exclusive missions are all well and good, but did they remember to get the engine running well on the PS3?  The entire AC2 series looked worse, played slower and had a shorter draw distance on the PS3 compared to the 360.  If the engines run the same, of course, I'll take the extra missions.
58  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Joss Whedon to direct 'The Avengers' on: October 20, 2012, 04:39:00 PM
Ceekay, I understand and see your point.  It makes sense assuming some familiarity with the Marvel universe.  For someone who isn't familiar, Captain America fills in a bit of that background better.  Plus you get to see young Howard Stark before old Howard Stark.  I think that makes the legacy storyline in Iron Man 2 more impactful.  I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

We see the treasure vault in Thor (along with the infinity gauntlet), but the cube isn't there.  The Red Skull mentions it was the jewel of Odin's vault in CA.  Presumably the cube is back there after the Avengers.
59  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Joss Whedon to direct 'The Avengers' on: October 20, 2012, 06:19:53 AM
I'd put Captain America before the Incredible Hulk.  The supersoldier program was a major theme of TIH.  Plus putting it before Thor gives you some idea of the power and influence of the Asgardians.

UPDATE: Also this little tweak:
Quote
And for anyone else who, like me, hates seeing the long intro logos and everything, it's also easily changed.
Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XComGame\Config And find the file [DefaultEngine.ini] . Find a header called: PC Startup movies and delete those four lines under it. Removes ALL of the startup logos and instantly goes to the main menu.

you can also put a ; in front of the lines if you're not comfortable with removing them (or think you're going to want back that Firaxis logo at some point  icon_wink), like so:

Quote
; PC Startup movies
;+StartupMovies=Logo_2KFiraxis
;+StartupMovies=UE3TechLogo
;+StartupMovies=LogoLegal_PCConsole
;+StartupMovies=1280x720_Black

found this while searching for that heading:

Quote
; DLC Script Packages (if needed in editor)
;+Package=DLC_PreOrder
;+Package=DLC_PackIn
;+Package=SeasonPass
;+Package=DLC_Day060
;+Package=DLC_Day090
;+Package=DLC_Day120

It seems the patch reset this.  So far lots of fun.  It seems like the difficulty is ramping up quickly, so every research decision feels that much more important.  I wanted to get a full game under my belt before customizing squaddies with people I know.  Don't worry.  Soon you will all suffer under my command.  Virtually anyway.

Other than the loss of transit, has anyone here complaining about the new maps app had any negative experiences with it?

Yeah, I was looking up a music venue.  It gave the right address, but the directions went to a point 20 miles away from the venue.  Since you're familiar with Houston, the address was downtown, the directions went out to NASA.

Yikes. Which venue?

The old Verizon Theater.

I'd like a bluetooth keyboard that supports multiple devices. I would ideally like to have it support an android tablet, the ipad and my phone.  I don't need something that can fit in my pocket.  I'd rather have a good typing experience.  Yes, that means I'd like to avoid a chicklet keyboard.  Any recommendations?

Are there people who prefer chicklet style keyboards?  I certainly wouldn't pay $250 for one, no matter how neat.  Throw that design on a real keyboard, and I'll think about it.

Normally, I'd just put this list in the pay it forward thread, but there might be some who've given up on that thread who would still like a game.

So here's what's left in my Steam inventory:

Half Life 2
Freedom Force (x2)
The Ship (x2)
Frozen Synapse + Red expansion
Orcs Must Die GotY
Kohan Warchest

Let me know if anyone wants anything.  You must be an established member of the GT community and all that...  Let me know your steam name, and I'll send a friend request and gift the game.  If anyone else wants to add in their inventory, feel free.

My two year old has figured out the ipad, iphone, the harmony remote control, leapster, leappad, navigating the Disney junior website, windows phone 7, my old palm pre, my android phone, and the chumby on my desk.  Two year olds love to learn and explore new things.  This might not be true with all 76 year olds.  I like Apple, but they don't have a lock on easy to use (especially in the eyes of a two year old).  She actually has the hardest time using the iphone since my wife's work requires a passcode.  Two year olds have a tough time with six digit numbers.
