I'm sure I'll eventually buy Wargame: Red Dragon, but I haven't put enough time in the last one yet.  Divinity: Dragon Commander is on sale.  I may get that.
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Civilization: Beyond Earth - Finally an Alpha Centauri successor? on: April 13, 2014, 04:22:00 AM
Does someone else hold the rights to the name Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri?  Or are they just convinced that Civilization holds more prestige?  I'm excited regardless.

Sorry Eddie, if this was a RPG thread, I'd post in yours, but Turtle has mad Civ cred.  How long has it been since our last Civ IV pitboss game?

The price on this just dropped to free if anyone is interested.  I don't know how long it will last.

45  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Quick PSN Question on: March 29, 2014, 09:02:08 PM
I purchased Infamous Second Son digitally and got my code for $10 credit.  I redeemed the code and the money is in my PSN wallet.  I just got a follow up email from Sony stating that my code will expire on 31 Mar 14.  Now that I've redeemed my code, I don't have a time limit on using the funds, right?  I know some prepaid Visa cards expire if you don't use them.  Thanks for the help.
46  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / TV advice needed, small edition on: March 24, 2014, 05:50:37 PM
We've been rearranging furniture as the kids change rooms.  As a result, we finally got rid of our last SD TV. We'd like to replace it with a small wall mounted unit for the guest room. Any suggestions for the display or the mount?  We're not looking to spend too much since it won't be used on a regular basis.  I'd guess 30 inches or less.  I've researched high end TV's, but not these.  Thanks in advance for the help.
47  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Homeworld HD Survey on: March 18, 2014, 01:10:24 AM
They've changed the survey.  Now they want to know which collector's edition you'd like.  Perhaps more importantly, they list an estimated delivery date of early autumn 2014.  I think I'd be happy with either but the lighted version is pretty cool.
48  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: iPhone/iTouch app and game thread on: March 15, 2014, 01:49:39 AM
I was trying to remember who Lightbox interactive was.  It turns out they were formerly Incognito who made Warhawk, War of the Monsters and Twisted Metal: Black.  As Lightbox, they made Starhawk.  Not a bad resume.  I'll keep an eye on Plundernauts.

I ordered two things on the 8th and it has said "shipping soon" for days. If they release it tomorrow that would put it at 3-6 days till their delivery estimate. I bet they even use the exact same delivery service as Prime for simplicity's sake, making it no less expensive at all on their part.

Doesn't this strike anyone else as wrong? A company intentionally delaying shipment of products that you ordered for almost a week just so you'll spend money on a "premium shipping service" which is entirely the same as the free one except for the intentional delay?

We were just at the rodeo carnival.  Some people paid for those fast pass badges.  They got to go right to the front of the line while the rest of us had to wait.  Not always pleasant, but we had the same opportunity they did to buy the fast pass.

I've run a warehouse.  Items always get pulled by priority.  If it's slow, low priority items get out just as fast as high priority ones.  If it's busy, it takes a while to even get to the low priority items.  So no, it doesn't strike me as wrong.

Maybe I'm in a bad mood, but that sounds suspiciously like "We offer the better deal, but you're too stupid to realize it."

I mostly care about the end result, not good or bad messaging.  Anyway, this month has:

Civilization Revolution through the 15th.

Dungeon Defenders for the rest of the month.

Thanks Bob.  I try to send my updated attacks out on a regular basis.

Now I feel bad for not playing the last few days! smile  I had a novel to finish reading.

Don't feel bad.  You're still my bestest friend in the game.  That actually gave me good bonus damage last time.  Heck, half the people in this thread haven't even added me as a friend.  Thank you to everyone who's updated their attack.

I'm still having fun with the game, but I may start peeking at bosses.  Both Chaugmar and Qada were pretty easy fights once I figured out what to do.  It's not much fun wiping a couple times to figure that out.  I had been rolling up to bosses with whatever configuration my party was in, but that stopped working in chapter 3.

In case anyone else wants help with those two:

Spoiler for Chaugmar and Qada:
Chaugmar is nearly invulnerable in his first form.  You just need to default until he transforms.  Then Valkyries can high jump while everyone else defaults for his super attack.  After that you can go to town on him.

Qada isn't that hard if you dispel his regen.  Also don't use damage dispersal as an ability for the fight.  His super attack is on a single target and will KO them, but damage dispersal can result in a party wipe.

Oh, and nemeses also drop buns like mind bun.  You can use those to permanently increase a character's stats.

53  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Bravely Default coming to North America on: February 24, 2014, 05:57:19 PM
I'm only closing in on the end of chapter two.  I'm having a lot of fun.  I don't think I've enjoyed a JRPG this much since FFXII.  I'm not really using abililink.  I do like the summon friend attacks.  Bob is the only one who's sent his attack out enough for me to increase affinity with him.  Thanks Bob.  I try to send my updated attacks out on a regular basis.  I am looking forward to completing Norende so I don't have to keep updating my special attacks.  It's pretty nice when you reduce the enemies magical resistance and elemental resistance to something you have a bonus on.  Even better if you can poison them too.

And wow.  Those ranger outfits are even sillier than I expected.

Well, I maxed out the demo city and defeated the Adamantoise.  I think I'd rather grind in the main game than the demo.  I certainly got a feel for the system getting max level on one job each and getting to level 10.  I think I'm ready for the real thing.  Let's see how long this takes to download.  I added everyone who had a code listed in the thread.  It'll be interesting to see your characters and abililinks.
56  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Bravely Default coming to North America on: February 16, 2014, 05:33:49 AM
This thread got me interested in the game (since I didn't even realize the Final Fantasy connection).  I grabbed the demo.  I didn't realize I missed the big friend/profile update.  It definitely seems like my kind of game.  I'll probably grab the full game after I'm done tooling around in the demo.  Do I need to collect all eight things before I start the main game?  I don't see any sales on the game.  Is there any reason to go cartridge over digital?  Here's my friend code:

2277-6652-0246

I'll work on adding everyone in this thread.  I'm sure I'll have some more questions soon.

Well, you never know how many people out there don't feel comfortable with Kickstarter/Amazon Payments.  Here's what the devs said:

Quote from: Playdek
Again we want to reassure everyone that we will open up PayPal after this campaign ends and we are more than happy to prove going forward the value of the game through continued development progress updates.

We are confident that we will be able to build up more confidence in this game and reach all of the goals we set out to accomplish. This may happen quick after the campaign, or it might take a few months, but either way it is still possible.

So it's certainly still possible.
59  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Kickstarter] Unsung Story, spiritual successor to FF Tactics on: February 14, 2014, 03:51:31 AM
Last 24 hours.  They need about 19k to get it funded.  They should make it if all the fence sitters get moving.  Tick tock.

Edit:  Well, that didn't take long.  I doubt they'll make any of the stretch goals, but they will get funded.  They did mention opening up paypal after the Kickstarter to try to reach some of the stretch goals.

Well, that was shorter than I thought.  It was fun and not too hard.  Maybe I misunderstood the whole so big we have to break it into two parts.  I look forward to part two, but I hope it's a bit longer if it wants to live up to some of the classics.  At least I never ended up fighting the interface more than playing the game.

Was Shay's adventure easier or did I just get back in the adventure game groove after playing Vella?

CBS is getting half of the Thursday night games next season

http://nfl.si.com/2014/02/05/cbs-nfl-thursday-night-football-tv-broadcast/?eref=sihp

If the 49ers play on a Thursday I hope it's going to be in the 2nd part of the season.  I'm ditching satellite and will only have over the air.

I think you have that backwards unless you don't want to watch the game.

Having CBS produce all the Thursday games should be a big improvement.  The only thing I liked about their broadcast was the creative use of graphics.  I will say that Mayock is great during the draft.  I like him less as a color guy.

Time for another meaningless anecdotal report.  My local Target had 3 Xbones.  They also had 3 PS4's.  They had a bunch of 2&3DS's.  They had no Vita's and no PS4 cameras.  So clearly PS4 to Vita chat is the only killer app this generation and the new consoles are doomed.  I had to look to even find the WiiU display.  They were in stock.

I was wondering about the Clairvoyant and Quinn.

Spoiler for Hidden:
What if the Clairvoyant wasn't the big bad this season and Quinn was?  Then I thought the Clairvoyant could be the big bad for season 2.  But season 2 would be ending right about the time of the Avengers 2.  So what if the Clairvoyant was Ultron?  Perhaps it was a data sifting supercomputer (maybe with some alien technology incorporated into it) for a NSA type agency that achieved sentience.  All these efforts could be directed toward creating the perfect body to house it.  Probably a bridge too far, but it struck me as interesting

Looks like the January games have been announced, and they finally have a good, somewhat recent game in Sleeping Dogs and there will also be Lara Croft: Guardian of Light.

Roughly a year and a half after PS+ gave Guardian of Light away for their members. retard

Hey it's only 9 months after Plus gave away Sleeping Dogs.  Seriously though, Pllus started off pretty crappy for games and got much better. GFG seems to be getting better and Microsoft didn't give up on it right at the end of their initial announcement.  So I'm pretty happy about it even if I've played both of the games.  Competition could make both of them even better.

I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs. It was much better than expected.  I actually got the Platinum on PS3.  It deserves more exposure.

I enjoyed the episode but wouldn't rate it as a great one.  I did like all the references (especially to the psychopathic women in his life).  It did suffer a bit being so closely compared to the 50th anniversary episode.

Speaking of that, Tivo recorded the Christmas rebroadcast and listed it as new.  It was the same episode, but it had a brief introduction scene showing the Doctor regenerating into Hurt.  I have no idea where that came from.
