Is the commodities market fixed? It's running. I can search for gems, and it will give me a price and show the average price. I can then buy them at the listed price. Then I get the gem(s) plus a small rebate. The rebate might be the difference between the listed price and the (updated?) average price. Is that how it's supposed to work? Regardless, it's nice to be able to buy gems and crafting materials again.

Microsoft lost me a long time ago. Looks like they're in no rush to get competitive in the gaming/technology wars. More 'Halo'? More 'Gears Of War'? More Kinect crap? Smartglass apes the Ipad?
No new console. No new franchises.
Blah.
Ascend New Gods is a new franchise. Good save I don't know that an Arcade release counts as a tent pole franchise. It could be fun though. I enjoyed the Toy Soldiers series.

I may be the tortoise, but I finally finished Normal. Of course I did finish faster than it's taking Blizzard to fix commodity auctions. The monk was pretty good. I'll probably try a ranged character after I dabble in nightmare.
How much gold does everyone have? Judging by the auction prices, it must start rolling in faster on higher levels.
You guys did scare me into adding an authenticator to my account. Is it necessary to set it every login?
Overall, fun game that gave me my money's worth, and there's still a lot to play. Let's see how long it continues to hold my attention. I like the auction house, by the way. It let me even things out after a run of bad drops, and I could ignore it when getting good ones. I must be terrible at setting prices since I clearly could have gotten more for some items and others won't sell. Does anyone play with shields? I haven't sold one yet.

and this is why Blizzard sucks. Had some time to play my single player game and the game is inaccessible because they are doing maintenance. For like 10 hours. This isnt WoW, wtf Blizz. Once again honest people pay the price for pirating. Those of you out there who pirate games..... Actually we're paying the price for hacking and cheating...I don't believe pirating the game was ever a big concern. Item and gold duplication would kill the real money market though (that Blizzard just happens to receive a substantial chunk of cash from). Personally I understand the reasoning but the lack of LAN and single player non-connected games still blows. Especially with 10 hour maintenance windows Do they really take down all the North American WoW servers at once for 10 hours at a time?

Are there any good hubs out there? I've had problems with the last two cheap ones I tried. Powered would be preferred. This one acts like there are interrupt conflicts, but they aren't showing up in the device manager. If I move the troubled device to the port on the front of my computer, everything works just fine. That lead me to believe the problem is in the hub. Thanks for the help.

Hmm. I forgot I was in some beta for this. It's been sitting in my steam games. I figured the least I could do is check it out for you guys.
I'm sure this is obvious to everyone else, but Warlock is set in the Majesty universe. So all the gods, units, spells and races from Majesty (especially 2 + expansions) are found in this game. As someone who enjoyed the recent games, that's a big plus. This also gave me a bit of a feel for the interrelation of the large numbers of unit types.
I'll use Civilization as the template since the developers obviously did. You start by choosing your warlock. This is a civ leader that determines your starting faction. You also choose a difficulty level, world size and shape, number of opponents and number of worlds. The world concept is a bit of a twist. Among the resources scattered across the world are gates. These will take your units another world. These are harder areas. The adviser implies that the demon world in Majesty 2 is such a place. He also mentions that you'll need a powerful army to conquer other worlds though they can be scouted with disposable units.
Anyway back to the game. Your leader is like the one is Civ. There's no corresponding unit to your leader. You make the executive decisions, what to build, what units to create, diplomatic relations and running the economy. You have basic resources of food, money, mana, and territory. Territory is divided into hexes and expands as your cities grow until it reaches a foreign border. Of course, cities grow when they have surplus food. Food comes from farms and mana comes from mana farms. You can build structures that increase the output of your farms. Money is more complex but you probably know the basics (income based on population and resources minus expenses).
Your tech tree is more like a RTS. You need to build structures to unlock new units. Your research is directed towards learning new spells. I haven't done much spell casting since I've had problems keeping my mana reserves growing. This might be due to my choice to use the high priestess of Krypta as my warlock. I think all those undead units have a mana cost.
There are independent city states around the world in addition to your opponents countries. I've also run into some packs of wild animals. I've seen some minor demons running around, but I don't know if they're coming through a gate or if my undiscovered opponent is of the demonic faction.
Thus far there are no stacks so each unit holds a hex. Ranged units can fire at range. Otherwise combat is bumping into another unit. You get a tool tip battle projection before you engage an enemy. Thus far, early in my game, I've conquered a city state that attacked me. I had a brief war with the Rat King when he plopped a settlement down right in my expansion area. I conquered that settlement and then bought peace with gold since I didn't want a major war too early.
I had a little extra gold due to quests. Your adviser will bring you quests from time to time. They are timed goals. Some have penalties if you fail. I've only had simple quests with money rewards thus far. The adviser mentioned that you can also get quests from the gods. The gods don't like it when you refuse or fail their quests. Your warlock actually has a relationship standing with each of the gods. Naturally, my priestess has a good relationship with Krypta (death) and is opposed by Agrela (life). I'm not sure how that will play out later, but it sound interesting.
Let's see. The city state I conquered lets me build lizardmen and goblin units. The rat settlement seems to open up rat units, but I haven't explored it yet. I've researched buff spells, summoning spells and attack spells. In addition to attacking, combat units can be ordered to rest (heal) or defend. Towns have a basic defense value based on size and will range attack after your turn ends. I also saw a fort structure that attacked independently from the town to make it harder for a small army to take a town. AI on normal hasn't been noticeably weak or impressive. It does seem fairly aggressive.
Overall, the 'just one more turn' factor has been impressively high. Combined with the Majesty setting, I'm enjoying the beta and the game.

I have a minisuit case. I wasn't sure I liked it at first, but now that I've gotten used to it, I really like it. I had planned to use a smart cover around the house and the heavier cover when traveling, but now I just leave the minisuit cover on all the time. I haven't had any magnet problems with either one.

You were in the military, right? I believe USAA still offers free financial assessments. No doubt they try to steer you towards their products, but you'll have a contact for basic questions. They offer their own mutual funds and brokerage services.

I admit I still don't understand the funding they're planning. They posted this on the update page: Next, we have lots of meetings with investors in the next few weeks. The great news is that the attention paid to the Kickstarter project has drawn the attention of multiple different investor groups, so instead of a few as we had before, now can shop around for the best deal with the understanding that they will allow us to make the kind of game we know you want. In fact I am flying out tomorrow to meet with one.

Well, the game is now called Takedown. However, they're down to the last two days and are just closing in on three quarters of their requested funding. Of course, none of the money goes in if they don't make their goal. They've done a ton of updates trying to drum up support, but perhaps there really isn't a market for a hardcore tactical shooter anymore. Sad kitty would be sad if Activision is right.

Although I'll take constant Niners updates to the still inconceivable fascination with a quarterback who can't seem to play the position of quarterback.
Hey, Vick wasn't the problem last year. It was mostly the utterly confused Eagles defense.

Moving is basically a 'no' for me because I don't want to live in Cheyenne, Ken.
There's bound to be places to live that are closer without being inside the city. We've had friends move to Australia, the Netherlands and Singapore recently for their jobs so my perspective may not be the best. Still, I wouldn't rule out all options that could improve the commute.

Some people mentioned productivity as a plus. The consumption/entertainment value is obvious, but what productivity apps/features do you use? Do you need a keyboard or is the dictation really good enough to do without? Thanks.

If it makes you feel any better, the draft 'experts' claim that an out year draft pick is reduced a level for each year. So you can think of it as a first, two seconds and a third.

Yes, another one. This one is a CQB Tactical Shooter from a former Ghost Recon developer. This game will get back to the core of what is loved about the tac-shooter, featuring realistic weapon modeling, outfitting and commanding your squad, objective-based, non-linear missions set in real-world locations around the world, single player, co-op, and multiplayer. I'm not sure it will get funded given the slow start, but I'm willing to put some money behind it. Here's the link. They're also looking for people work on crowd sourced parts of the project (maps, models, etc.)

Hey I have a wimpy question: If you order something from Apple, does it come in a box festooned with "Apple" and the iconic logos on it? Not that I don't trust my condo building neighbors but... I don't trust them if I have an iPad-sized box that screams "Apple" on it laying in front of my door all day. I didn't see this get answered. As I recall, the boxes are pretty discrete. It's usually clear they're shipping from China. However, it doesn't matter about neighbors since, unless they've changed their policy, Apple doesn't allow deliveries without a signature. Someone has to be there and sign for it, or you'll be heading off to the Fedex depot to pick it up after hours.

GoG does have Mob Rule and Gangland if someone else is looking to scratch that itch. Of course, the two Mafia games or the two Godfather games might work as well.
I've been alternating between Homeworld 2 and Star Wars: Empire at War recently.
My kids have been playing Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat on the Gamecube. They really enjoy the bongos. They're now better at the game than I ever was.

I tried both demos. They both had silky smooth controls, but the PS3 graphics looked better. It's odd because usually the PS3 looks like the port, but this time it's the 360 that doesn't look as sharp. I might still go 360 since there was a huge amount more ridernet activity on Live.
It did feel like SSX. I did have fun. I'll probably pick it up soon.

I guess my favorite is the De Beers conspiracy. It's basically that not only are the diamond cartels withholding vast supplies of mined diamonds to keep prices artificially high, but are also suppressing through threats, court and legislative action the production and marketing of synthetic jewelry grade diamonds. Sure it could just be a difficult technology to master, but that's not as much fun as a global monopoly conspiracy.
