I just got mine this morning, been updating, playing with settings, messed with Mario and Nintendo Land. I'm impressed. The screen works very well, and it's cool to be able to play console games without even having to turn the TV on. Out of the promised TV functionality, the only video app available at the moment is Netflix, and it works really well. Switching between watching on TV and watching on the Gamepad is instantaneous, and when you're watching on TV, the Gamepad functions as a way to access different options like Closed Captioning, or manage where you are in the show/movie. Nice touches here.
Nintendo Land and Mario U both are tons of fun. Played them both with my girlfriend and I found myself enraptured with a Mario game for the first time since Mario Galaxy. Nintendo Land has lots of stuff to do, the minigames are pretty fleshed out, and most have a bunch of levels and options available, giving that one some actual lasting power. Granted, console launches are usually the worst time to buy a system, as anyone who got an Xbox 360 at launch can attest to. But once a few of the other games start hitting and developers stop porting and start getting real (by making games that actually take advantage of the system), I think this thing can be magical given a few months. I can't wait for Pikmin 3, that's for sure.
I'm planning on picking up Zombi U and COD: BLOPS 2 at Toys R Us today, as they're having a buy 1 get 1 40% sale on Wii U games. I hear good things about BLOPS 2, both in general and with the Wii U version, so I'm excited about that.
If anyone wants to friend me, my Nintendo ID is davidrobots. Add me and I'll add you back. Hope to see you guys in the Miiverse!
Added you as a friend! Anyone else get the Wii U today and has a Nintendo ID yet?

So I'm torn....part of me says "you have to buy it - product will arrive and you can't review it without the hardware" but recent hands-on time left me cold. ZombiU turned out to be less fun than I thought, NintendoLand is essentially Wii Sports (minus the Luigi's Mansion portion which is a blast to play), The Wonderful 101 was amusing for a short while but got VERY repetitive after only 5 minutes, I don't sing so Wii U Sing is out, I beat Assassin's Creed III, Darksiders II, and Batman: Arkham City, I don't care about FIFA13, I already own CODBLOPS2, and I'm not interested in Skylanders Giants.
This leaves.... Scribblenauts Unlimited New Super Mario Bros U Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
One of those I can pick up on another platform, Scribblenauts is a passing fancy, leaving only one game I'm interested in. Granted, when I played it, it was fantastic. I will absolutely buy it when other titles fill out my interest range, but as this launch list stands, this is one console I can't honestly either recommend or justify to myself. Just my 2 cents...
For what it is worth.....I hear that CODBOPS2 is very impressive on the WiiU. I held off getting it for the PS3 and Xbox because of what I was hearing and it seems to be well worth the week wait. I haven't played yet, but from people that have....they say it looks just as good as the 360 version, if not a bit better. You can also play entirely on the Gamepad screen, while someone else plays on the TV, for multiplayer over the internet. That alone, makes me really excited for this.

My understanding is that the developers got less than a year of development time on this title from Activision. There's no way you can deliver quality in that time, particularly not when you're developing for a new platform. Compare that with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which apparently had nearly 3 years.
Yeah, I heard that they got a whole 5 months to work on the game....and it shows. I can't believe that they have the balls to charge $50 for this! I mean come on. It's absolute garbage.

Watched the Gametrailers live WiiU event yesterday and other than the moron host ("WiiU games are on Dual-Layer DVD!!!" Uhhh...no they are not. They are 25GB Blu-Ray like discs. Tekken Tag 2 is a 18GB download on the Nintendo Network, so how the heck would it fit on one disc, if it was a DVD!?!?) it was pretty cool. The controler is freaking awesome. I am really impressed with the off screen play thing.
I am really nervous though about the Day 1 system update thing. Gametrailers revealed that it was supposed to be out on Wednesday, but it still isn't out yet. It enables all the online features like Miiverse, the e-Shop, Nintendo Network online play, etc....not exactly inspiring confidence.

I picked up Assassins Creed 3 and Madden 13 at Toys R Us yesterday with their $30 off two $59 games. I am really excited about being able to play Assassins Creed 3 directly on the Gamepad, while someone else is watching TV. I think that this is one of the coolest things about the WiiU gamepad. I know not every game supports it, but the ones that do are a pretty impressive list: Call of Duty: BO2, AC3, Arkham City, Darksiders 2, Super Mario Bros U...etc... It basically makes the WiiU the most advanced portable system on the planet! Anyway, in addition to the games I got....I will be picking up Mario and Black Ops 2 on Sunday. I also confirmed with the manager at Best Buy that my preorder is ready to go. They got the systems in yesterday and got enough to cover all preorders (all 7 of them) plus a bunch extra.

It sucks that this was delayed until Nov 13th for the Xbox/PS3/Wii and PC. It did come out today for the Vita, DS and 3DS. I got the Vita version and it is pretty cool. It has the free-roam world just like the console/PC version. I don't know if the 3DS and DS versions have that though.

So, this came out today for the Vita (as well as the DS and 3DS) and it seems like it is pretty much the same as the console versions. I got to Bree in the story mode, then fast-traveled back to the Shire. I could run around the Shire. From the shire I could walk to Bree through free-roam, but the distance was almost non-existent. Still, at least it does have free-roam like the consoles.
I don't know if it is the same as the 3DS and DS versions....but it seems the Vita version is pretty much the same as the PS3/Xbox versions! Of course, the console versions have been delayed until the middle of November for some reason....so I don't know if they are 100% the same.
Anyone else pick this up?

I do not believe you have my psn name. Harpua33 it is. Ill be on checking it out later, probably a few single player races til the wife goes to bed. Then some online fun! Sent out a friend request to you! Thanks!

Gotta wait until I get power, but I'm wondering if there's any final word on 360 vs PS3 for this. Not pre-release forum buzz, but solid info.
Same. In general I like Xbox for any multiplayer(and chevos!), but an hour of content for PS3 plus the extra mission from the PS Vita link makes it tempting. It seems like they are both pretty much identical, except maybe a bit more tearing on the 360. All things being equal, get it for the PS3. The extra story stuff is pretty meaty....I mean come on, it's Benedict Arnold and his whole betrayal of us at West Point! true, but it's only an hour of meat that might pale in comparison to many more hours of MP meat with friends depending how many people you have on your friends lists. Very true as well. I've got about the same amount of friends on both consoles....so it came down to the extra single player stuff for me.

I am now feeling even better about playing it on the PS3....from those that have it already, lot of reports going around that the 360 version is a mess visually and performance wise. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic that Ubisoft worked....but the PS3 and Xbox seem to be reversed this time. Must be the new engine.
I've seen this stuff on NeoGAF as well and not sure whether to believe it yet. People just love to release false info to try to further their fanboyism, for some reason. I was getting PS3 version anyway. Very true. Guess we will all see soon enough. I am sure it will look pretty much the same on each console in the end, just like the last games.

Impressions: After playing a while last night, it looks like the single player campaign is a fully fledged "big console" campaign. Main story, side missions, collectables, weapons, inventory, pickpocketing, etc... Plenty of things to do. The world feels alive and populated. Sometimes you'll see more than 20 civilians on screen at once, in other zones it will feel more deserted: it just feels right. It's more than people walking directionless. There are plenty of animations like dogs scratching their backs, leaves falling, dust, people working in the street. There is plenty of attention to detail. Parcouring has many different animations, zones where you can climb, vistas, etc... I like the jump button. It is not needed when parcouring, it is used to enlarge the movements Aveline can do. Multiplayer still not active, so i can't tell you. There are near goodies. There are some framerate dips. For the most sensitive of you, this could be a problem. It's not for me. The only negative for me, is the compression of audio. The OS is excellent, voices, sounds and ambiental noises are well designed, but with compression they lack punch and the whole package feels less epic. Of course, this will mostly be appreciated if you play with headphones. Definitely a must buy. More pics Remember, it will look even better on the Vita screen! Next Tuesday is going to be huge!

I'll just Youtube the PS3 missions if I feel they're that important. it's not enough to get me to rebuy the PS3 or pay for the eventual 360 DLC. of course I'm planning on getting the Wii U version, so I should say Wii U DLC. Liberation though, that's got the potential to sell me a Vita. The thing about Assassins Creed 3 Exclusive Missions are, they are never coming to the 360. The other exclusive mission series, "The Copernicus Conspiracy" for AC: Brotherhood was never released for the 360. This is going to be the same type of thing. Myself, I would not buy a PS3 just for this...but it does make me happy that I have the ability to experience this for free....though I think it should be available to all. It seems pretty cool. Agree with you about Liberation. It's pretty amazing that they were able to cram all of it onto the Vita. It's a real Assassins Creed game, not some watered down crap like Call of Duty: Black Ops looks like for the Vita. PS3 exclusive missions are all well and good, but did they remember to get the engine running well on the PS3? The entire AC2 series looked worse, played slower and had a shorter draw distance on the PS3 compared to the 360. If the engines run the same, of course, I'll take the extra missions. Good question. I played through the series on both the Xbox and PS3. Honestly, I didn't notice much of a difference between the two systems, but I have heard that the PS3 version ran a bit worse from other people. Maybe it's because I played the 360 versions quite a bit before the PS3 versions....but I honestly didn't notice any problems on the PS3 version. AC3 has an entirely new engine though.....so I hope they have made things better. Even if things are the same as before....I'd still get the PS3 version, due to: 1) I didn't notice a difference anyway 2) Extra story content 3)Liberation for the Vita and it unlocking extra content in AC3 for the PS3.
