Lucky guy! Yeah, lots of people have the game early it seems from a certain seller on eBay. Though, when I saw the listing he was selling it for $10 over retail price. There are already two people on my friends list playing it.

So, I work with a guy who's a staunch tea party member.  I get along with him because I avoid getting into political discussions with him.  Work and politics, that's a bad combo.

However, he friended me on facebook soon after I started with the company.  Not knowing any better, I accepted (saying no would've been kind of rude, I believed).  After about the 37th status update that found its way to my facebook update page detailing how Obama was evil, the liberals were trying to destroy the country and how guns should be mandatory for every citizen, I set up a filter so I wouldn't see them anymore.

Before I did so though, I noticed that his 10 year old son was spouting an awful lot of the same rhetoric as his father in the replies to these updates on his dad's page...and I mean a lot.

Flash foward to this week.  My coworker informs me that his son (now 12) is being suspended yet again because he's been acting up.  I ask what he's been doing and he informs that it was all bullshit.  He's been bullying some kids he feels are "inferior" (the kid's words, I guess).  Then he tells me that his son was also telling his teachers that some of the text books they were using in class couldn't be trusted because they were written by Muslims.  Then he laughed while regaling me about how his son was chastised for telling another kid to "stop acting like a chink".

I'm flabbergasted because he seems genuinely amused by these actions.  Of course he's upset that his son is being punished, but he seems to feel the kid is just being precocious.

I know he loves his kids, but how could he possibly feel that he's not failing as a parent right now?

Not the right answer, but...It sounds like they are two individuals that need the shit beat out of them. You know, to reset their moral compass.

If you haven't played it yet, Tomb Raider was excellent.  Cool story, tight shooting mechanics, and some of the most intricately designed environments this side of The Witcher 2.

There's no harm in waiting for a discount if you're having fun with the stuff you're playing now, but I'd be surprised if you ever feel you paid too much for it.

I actually have been feeling the same way.  Approaching 40 this year and feel like I need a change.  One thing I can recommend is reading The Nerdist Way by Chris Hardwick.  He's the guy that does the Talking Dead/ Talking Bad shows on AMC as well as the Nerdist podcasts.  Anyway his book really details out how to organize yourself and set goals.  Much along the line of what Wonderpug is recommending.  It's helped me feel like I'm getting some goals done and getting on track with making a career change (hopefully!).

I think I'll look into that. Good call.

Thanks for at least making me feel young.  Tongue Thinking of therapy. Just seems like every year goes by and nothing gets accomplished. I would love to get back to working in the field I adore. Quit smoking and never start again is up there on the list. Eat better, play more music, get into a new house etc. All seems so overwhelming.

The best thing to do when youre overwhelmed with the need for a ton of changes is to break things down into manageable bits.  The sum of all the things you want to do is overwhelming but instead of focusing on the big picture and all of those issues as a whole, make small changes.  Pick one issue and focus on that.  Once you have that handled, go on to the next.  Its like crossing a room and youre focused on doing it in one big leap.  You dont believe its possible to do so and that keeps you from even trying.  You just have to realize that you can easily cross that room one step at a time. No superhuman leap is required.

I appreciate that. I know that seems like common sense, but for awhile I've lacked the focus to see it through. Like today on my day off, I should have been looking for a new job etc., instead I just did a few things around the house and now I just don't feel like doing anything more.

Simply can't get anything accomplished besides day to day stuff. I don't wanna just rant like this, but I need some help so I figured it wouldn't hurt to post. (My PSP is dead as Fred and I can't find the power cord...can't charge USB without it having some life in it. Thing never held a charge long...)

I've been playing through Panzer Tactics and the screens are still still bright and clear and I'm very much enjoying this reunion.

I have so many games that I never finished (though I got close to the end on all of them): Panzer Tactics, The Zelda game that I can't remember the name of, Fire Emblem (GBA), Advance Wars II, etc...

Remains to be seen if I can fit back into the portable gaming demo again. Wish it had bluetooth slywink

They still have a decent number of players judging just from the Steam stats, and since you can still play through the old launcher not on Steam I imagine totals may be double that.

I think once they finally get this ready and launched on the PS4 there will be another huge influx of players.

Seltzer is far cheaper in 2-liter bottles than in single-serving cans. My seltzer habit only costs me 40 cents a day.

Have you ever thought about getting a kegerator? I've built two out of old refrigerators and it's not as difficult as it seems. A 5 gallon keg from the local brewery is $75 and a 7.5g is $90. The 5 gal one lasts my wife and I just about a month drinking one or two beers per night each.

Phenomenal idea.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_HEeHUmzjI&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DL_HEeHUmzjI&has_verified=1

Some of it seems decent, but other things make me scoff or laugh. Mostly its the violence approach I guess. One of the things that was unique to thief was the horror of being discovered. If the guards found you, you had to be lucky to escape with your life. Here, you can just kill everyone and be done with it it seems. That takes away a great deal of the tension. Imagine Cradle level where you could just slaugther everything - fun? Not really.

That's the trailer that Ron posted yesterday.

Its new to this page of the thread though.

No, it's not.

Like many, I've been nervous about this new Thief.  At first because it was going to be some futuristic thing, then because it was supposedly more action-oriented and most recently because of reports that it was all small spaces with little choice about where to go or what to do.

I have to say that trailer would only feel more like Thief if someone called Garrett a taffer.  That doesn't mean it'll be good, of course, but I'm certainly more interested.  That said, I do hope they maintain the rich world with its steampunky feel and the various factions (Order of the Hammer and whatnot), even if it's evolved in time slightly.

I'm a Thief purist.  I'll be making sure this game is "Thiefy" enough before you have to put down your cash.

I wonder how many reviewers will savage this game because it's not "Thief-y enough" as compared to the previous entries in the series?    Even if it's a solid game in its own right (which remains to be seen), I suspect there are lots of folks who will be judging it against the other titles instead of reviewing this game on its own merit.  Can't imagine it'll fare well through that lens.
