The 9800pro is taken. It`s about to be shipped out to someone that I made a deal with. Sorry. I`ll check my mail  .
2562  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Second sight. Cheap and good! on: February 24, 2005, 11:40:25 AM
I just grabbed this while looking for psi ops. I`m still looking for that, but this one is fun stuff. Great story so far, and the action/stealth is put together good enough. It`s not perfect, but it is pretty fun stuff! Anyone else really like this one?

I still have the 9700pro available. To tell you the truth I got it off of newegg.com and I`m not sure of the manufacter. I know that it IS a 9700pro128mb card. I still have the box it came in(not a big video card box but a shipping box they used for it),the cables, the instruction manual, and the driver disk etc.
 Here`s that info.

I agree with everything you said there. It is a bit on the easy side compared to the gba game. To be fair though, I did the same thing that you said with the gba game on a few of the games(going for ever without any challenge after a certain point). I just finished the main story stuff too with the wife last night. And I have unlocked some of the other stuff, but not nearly all. To me though, this is a game that I`ll play over and over again, even after everything is unlocked.

Also scott, there is a thumb thingie so you dont have to use the stylus

So every mini-game for DS games can use both the stylus and digital control?  All the Wario mini games, etc.?  I was under the impression that the games defined the control, and could do pure stylus control, or just digital, etc.  I'd bet a lot of the DS games make use of the stylus input.  Otherwise, just make it a GBA game.  I still haven't seen a great use of the second screen either.

I just looked at the reviews for the DS games.  They all apparently suck.  IGN and Gamespot are very critical of the DS games it seems, as well as some other sites.  Maybe suck is too strong a word, but it doesn't look like a solid library of games at all.

Quote
I can't see getting a PSP if you already own a PS2. If they are close in quaility why would you spend $250 for a PSP plus $40-$50 for games that you may have already played, or are available for, the PS2??? It makes no sense to me. Unless of course you are a world traveler and then I understand.

The libraries are a bit different for one.  It is also nice to play in the car, at the gym, in bed, on the couch while your wife watches Apprentice, etc.  Also save me taking out my PS2 to play for 20 minutes, then spend about as much time cleaning up and putting it away so my kids don't get it.  There are tons of reasons to get the PSP for people.

I also could never sit down and watch a movie on a handheld device when I can watch it on my widescreen tv with surround sound. If I'm going to spend $20 on a DVD I'm going to buy a regular one for my regular DVD player and not a proprietary one for a handheld.

I can't take my HDTV and surround sound to the gym, or in the car smile.

Hmm, are the DS screens scratching? Ive only seen one extensively andit hasnt scratched yet even though it is from launch.

Scratching has to be a problem.  I admit, I haven't looked at the screen in detail, but the second you get a piece of dirt between the stylus and DS, you are in trouble.  All of the demo units I've seen have been badly scratched.  I'm the type of person that one of two scratches would drive me crazy.

Why only 14 or so games for the DS?  Hasn't it been out since November?  Where are all the cool DS games?  Is this another Nintendo product that people have to wait forever for each new game that takes advantage of the hardware?   It looks like 20+ PSP games at launch as a comparison.

UG! Where to  begin ??? .

The DS has been out for only a few months...Don`t you think these things take time. The PSP lauch games are mostly shit anyway. Both systems will have good games in time. Plus the DS does have afew great games right now. I like how you say all the games suck because you read reviews at ign etc. Ign gave warioware touched a 85. And M64DS a high score too...
And I have zero scratches on my screen...And as for the ones at the stores getting scratched...Everytime I go into eb or a store with a ds on display. Some idiot kid is jabbing the stylus into the screen...certainly not being used correctly...

Yeah , the GBA is still quite nice. But my DS gets lots of play so far. All the GBA games look a tad better than the GBA, and the two(well, 3 if you count the demo)are great. On par with what I expected. Could their be a  better  seleection of AAA games? Sure. Are the 2 I have great and original? Hell yes! I think Warioware Touched is amazing. M64DS is also fun, and the mini games are a hoot! The metroid demo shows how capable this DS thingy is, with graphics and controls. They set out to make something different and they sure did. I`m not nintendo fanboy, but this thing rocks. It has serious potential. If your not impressed at all by the DS, you confues me  .  It`s not perfect but it sure is interesting and great so far and only looks to get better. Sorry to hijack the thread a bit.

I`m starting to wonder if scott sells these things... I`m starting to see why games etc. don`t evolve very much. Everyone bitches about anything new and complains about things taking a little time.
I`m glad you guys can find some games you like for the psp, cuz none seem to look good to me. I`m not saying that the DS had a great launch lineup either...but saying the psp has a better lineup for launch is like saying the bigger pile of shit tastes better  . And I still don`t see how you say the DS doesn`t use the screens good...M64DS mini games, Warioware touched...etc. You simply CAN`T play those games on any other system because they use the screens so effectively. Oh, well. To each his own.

My only complaint is that the non-sensical cutscenes are disproportionately longer than the gameplay.  Granted, after you get through a story level, there are many more games to play with no story at all, so this problem will seem moot eventually, but I'm not enjoying the story stuff as much as I did in the first GBA game.

I actually like the story more in this one than the GBA one. They both are pretty wierd to say the least.

But now how about a more fair comparison of the DS to the PSP? The GBA isnt the one meant to compete with the PSP.

Okay, the DS adds another crappy screen that isn't really used well in any game I've seen.  The two DS screens still don't have the overall resolution of the one PSP screen, and still can't compare graphically.  I mean, one beautiful screen, or 10 year old graphics and a mini-map?  Easy choice to me.

I loved the design of the older GBA, the small one with the flip open screen.  The DS leaves me cold.  It is ugly, and to big for the small screen it has.  I really don't want or need the extra screen.  I want to focus on one nice area at a time.

Wow, what did nintendo do to you?  To each his/her won I guess. I guess the DS screen in warioware isn`t really used well...

This game rocks. I grabbed it earlier today. Fun stuff, really fun stuff. I`d say if you liked the other wariowares, you`d have to like this. Now that`s just my opinion, but I`m pretty sure that`s the truth. After two minutes of it I was convinced. I`d almost go as far to stay that if you don`t like this game, you don`t like fun. IMO.
Graphics are actually a bit better than the gba game. Not great techically(but good enough, and bright and vibrant), but the artwork is good and funny.
Sound, also better than the gba game. Every song/sound effect, etc. sounds great ...Everything sounds like it should. Some of the songs are rather funny.
And the controls really do make it different in a good way. You don`t use any buttons for this game. Only turning it on or off uses a button.
I`m sure it is shorter than the other ww games, but who cares when it`s this fun.

I have a 3.0 ghz p4, 1024mb ddr, 6800gt 256mb, sb audigy2, etc. I`ve always ran 1024x768x32bit@85hz(sp?) , well not always but recently with this setup. I use some fsaa etc. But I always want to run higher resolution, but I like to have the same res/refresh rate for games and desktop etc. Here`s the question, what`s a resolution that popular and most if not all games support it? That`s why I stick with this. Every single game I`ve played in the last 5 years support this res. If i don`t stick with the same res, I have to always re-center the image on the monitor, and I`m lazy  . And obviously I don`t wan to go to high, cuz then when something comes out more taxing...I`ll have to readjust everything. I know that a wierd request/question...but nevertheless does anyone have any ideas/answers? Thanks.

Well seriously though...I`ll play both sides here. There`s plenty of I hate/love steam threads around so I won`t do that. I`m sure some people have issues with steam just like anything else out there. I`m sure some people don`t, just like anything else out there. Steam isn`t perfect, it`s nice to have easy patching through it but it is still cumbersome IMHO, but it certaintly NOT the devil like some make it sound. Have you used steam? If not, how do YOU know what it`s like? I`d hate for someone to miss a game like this, because of these reasons...Game this good only come out every few years. I`d think about it before you do it, that`s all. I`m certainly not going to try and change your mind. But I would think more about it, since you have to wait anyways. Just my opinion, Later.

One more review is up. http://gba.gamespy.com/nintendo-ds/wario-ware-ds/587485p1.html 4.5 outta 5 is good stuff!

Pros
It's more WarioWare!; seriously, do you know how addictive these games are?
Cons
Slightly fewer microgames than the original; the unlockable goodies are kinda lame.

The WarioWare series is really the ideal portable game -- they're incredibly easy to pick up and play for two minutes, but engrossing enough to keep you occupied for hours.

I`m even more sold!
