The CIA mission=the best mission of all SC games so far. I have only played the demo of CT so far, so whos knows if that will hold.

I LOVE mvp on xbox. But it was $30.00 and it`s $50.00 on psp. I simply don`t like baseball THAT much. If it plays like the one I know, that will be one sweet game!

Wipeout Pure looks awesome.  I'd play it an hour and stop though, can't get into the arcade racers.

The Gamespot review of Metal Gear Acid probably means I'll grab the PSP and Acid.

I based the Nintendo DS because I think it is shitty hardware running 10 year old games.

I'm bashing the PSP games because I think some of them are sloppy ports.  Some are pretty solid though, like Wipeout and Ridge Racer.

There are no excuses for sloppy controls though.

That's killing me for NFL Street.  I want it, but don't want hand cramps playing it.  Same with Fifa, I'd rather get the console version fo good control.  Of course, Winning Eleven on the PSP I'll get no matter what!

I wouldn`t call dual screens and one being a touchscreen exactly shitty 10 year old hardware.

And I`m NOT going to try and persuade anyone on anything but, from what I played, wipeout pure is the best game out there for psp right now and gamerankings seems to agree-->
If you don`tl ike arcade racers though, you simply don`t like `em. I`m not a huge fan of arcady racers. PGR2 is as arcady as I *usually* like `em. Burnout 2 was too arcady for me(Never played 3 even though I heard it rocks). For some reason though, wipeout pure was lots of fun for me and I didn`t even know what buttons did what  .

Gamespy has this stuff up now
It`s a bunch of reviews etc. Great info. Wipeout pure got 5 starts! Further proving I`m making the right choice for me!

Well, Scott, to be fair, launch titles have sucked for every system since cartridges died out.  I mean, you don't hear a ton of people singing the praises of Fantavision these days, do you?

I`m not going to get into this again, but he`s right  . I think people thought "wow, look at all of those games for psp on day one!" They didn`t think that half or more of them would blow, like they do...

I think this launch is better than the ds`s BUT...the DS is trying something completely new, where the psp is not. I`ve been thinking of grabbing twisted metal or thug2 along with wipeout pure. Not sure yet though. I figure I *should* just grab WOP now, then get mercury in a week or two rather than grabbing one of above tomarrow. TM and thug2 aren`t going anywhere  .

Why doesn`t anyone want wipeout pure. It`s not a port, it IS fun as hell and it`s looks FREAKING AMAZING!!!

Some of you guys that don`t want a psp anymore where the same guys bashing the DS for the same reasons you don`t want a PSP.<--long, bad sentence!

I went into EB on tuesday and grabbed a preorder slot for launch day because someone cancelled. You might get lucky too. If not, bestbuy is opening @ 8 am like others said. When I was going to go that route, I went to BB and I believe they said they had over 200! I`m near cleveland Ohio if that helps. Not a huge city, but not as small as it get either. Hope that helps.

Well let's see.

I just picked up (just got back from lunch):

A Nintendo DS System! biggrin

I also grabbed the Minish Cap (for me) & Yoshi Touch & Go (for my son - Easter gift).

I've been dying to get this system and I love the fact that I picked it up on the eve of the PSP release.  I got it at Circuit City and with its purchase got a $15 gift card that I immediately applied to the two games, which were also 15% off.

I don't plan on getting a PSP.  I already have a PS2.

Now, to start saving for Xbox 360.

My Condolences.

You will realise your mistake soon enough. It took me about 5 days.

Shoosh  ! You crazy people  ! I have  DS and LOVE IT!!! I`m getting a PSP tomarrow and I`m assuming I`ll love it too! Spread the love around people! Not only one thing is good in this world!

After seeing that untold legends review, I`m going to stick with grabbing wipeout pure(unless there are lots of good reviews for untold legends tonight). Wipeout pure looks like a safe bet.

Here`s some stuff on wipeout pure

 Gameplay: 9.5
I'm like a bird in a tree, singing its happy song on a warm summer morning just before the sun comes up. Wipeout Pure is quintessential. It's PSP racing in its purest form. If you don't buy it, you will rent it, play it in-store or at a friend's house. The first thought that will come to mind: "Why didn't I buy this at launch?" Nothing you buy could better – just different. No game is faster, we know that for certain. The controls are so good that it's hard to imagine that another PSP racer controls better. This is the leader of the pack; the king that all other racing games must bow to. And it will wear this crown until Burnout arrives. That's when the real battle begins.

Graphics: 9.5
Jaw-dropping. I know PSP games will only get better – by the time Christmas comes we'll be playing games that look twice as good as most of the launch titles. This makes me hate to give out a high score like a 9.5 to any game for its graphics. Wipeout Pure is beautiful though, so beautiful in fact that it will shock you. I've played five of the 15+ launch titles. I've seen videos of almost all of them. From what I know thus far, none can compare to Wipeout Pure. If nothing else, this game moves faster than any other PSP launch title. The polygon count must be unreal, though I'm sure it's the frame rate that will impress you the most.

Sound: 8.5
The king of techno is back. Repetition is not a part of this soundtrack, except for one annoying song. The rest is pure ear-pleasing bliss, pumping original beat-filled tracks through the PSP's tiny speakers. Fans will not be disappointed. The rest of you will be amazed that, with the right composer, techno music can actually be good.

Difficulty: Med/Easy
Step right up, step right up. Watch in amusement as this volunteer gamer tries to conquer Wipeout Pure but can't. It's a rare site folks, to watch a gamer not beat a racing game immediately after purchasing it. Only $5 to see it all happen at the Carnival of Weirdness.

Concept: 8.5
Wipeout for the small screen. It didn't take a rocket scientist to come up with that one. The PS2-quality gameplay, the near-PS2-quality graphics, the amazing sound, the unforgettable course creations ... Wipeout Pure is out of this world.  Lucky for you, you don't have to leave the galaxy to get it.

Multiplayer: 9.0
WiFi-connected gamers can race up to seven opponents in multiplayer. With many airports, cyber cafes and even Panera Bread offering free WiFi access, the PSP is becoming a true portable multiplayer gaming device.

Overall: 9.5
Pure gets props for being just as good on the PSP as it is on PS2. It gets props for having incredible graphics, for moving at lightning-fast speeds, and for never, ever showing signs of technological inferiority (gimmicks like fog, slowdown, etc., are not a part of Wipeout Pure's beautiful world). It gets major props for having great controls without the use of a true analog stick. The PSP sliding-thumbstick thingy is more sensitive than it appears at first. No one will walk away unimpressed.

That was from gamezone, but pretty much everyone says the same. I think I have to get this one tomarrow. I`m hoping there is a review of untold legends before tomarrow so I`ll know whether or not to grab it.
2577  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PSP Questions on: March 23, 2005, 05:16:45 AM
One more thing to add. I`ve heard that the US psp comes with an extra battery, is this true?
2578  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What games are everyone getting at launch for the PSP? on: March 23, 2005, 04:44:52 AM
I really didn`t want a psp until recently. Now I really want it! I`m starting to think people really want to get their hopes up, just to be lets down.
There is a point to this, believe it or not...

Halo 2 did NOT suck, it could have been better, but it was a great game. Mainly the multiplayer.
Doom 3 did NOT suck. Id said doom3 will be a retelling of the original. WTF was it? A retelling of the original. Id didn`t claim it to be the next coming, YOU did!!!
The DS rocks, don`t let anyone else tell you otherwise. It`s a new system, it will have good games. Give it some freaking time!!! Oh, well it`s been out, what...4-5 months, and boohoo, where`s all my games!
And here we go with the PSP, "this game sucks, then this must too, I hate psp I don`t want one!!!!"
I see people go from super happy to buy something, to "I`ll get something else cuz this sucks" direction in days, maybe even hours or minutes.

This really has nothing to do with anyone in specific, really it doesn`t. And in contrast to other forums, you guys are level headed  ...  But, don`t hype stuff up to super crazy levels, just to burst your bubble if it isn`t perfect.

More on topic. I was in EB today and grabbed a flyer that says, trade in 3 xbox or ps2 games and get one of these free. There`s like 6 or 9 psp games to pick from. Too bad I already cleared out my selection just a week or two ago... . Maybe I`ll look through my collection again...

Don`t mind me. I quit smoking...11 months ago  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I have a few more questions for you guys. Does the psp connect to the pc via a normal usb cable? Or is something special required? What other options do I have as far as connecting to the internet, other than buying a whole wireless setup. I have a wired router, would a wireless entrypoint do the job? I`ve heard you can connect to your pc to use you internet connection for mp games etc, if you don`t have any wireless stuff. Is that true? Thanks again!
2580  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What games are everyone getting at launch for the PSP? on: March 23, 2005, 03:56:45 AM
Yeah, I`ve witnessed this game in motion and, it didnt impress me at all. The graphics aren`t bad, just the gameplay appears to be  . I know of some people that love it though, go figure.

I`m looking at wipeout pure and untold legends. I think I`m going to grab probably just one...I`m not sure which yet though.

I played wipeout pure for a few minutes today at EB. It was fun. Spectatular graphics combined with really fast smooth gameplay. I`m thinking I`ll go this route. My wife would probably enjoy it as well, which always helps  . But untold legends, if done properly, could be tons of fun.
Untold legends comes out tomarrow, so hopefully there will be a review up before thurday. I would sure think so.

Well some people like having their nipples clipped with there isn't much suffering that someone doesn't like.

For me I like it easy.  I know that is what I like so I look for games that meet that criteria and this isn't one of them.

*Sigh* Is it possible to get thru one thread that contains Nintendo related information without Rage + Hetz getting in their "OMG NINTENDO SUXORS SONY/MS RuL3z!!!111oneone"

Didn't think so...

Lol. I`m not saying I remember those two guys being especially negative towards nintendo, BUT...there`s always someone saying something negative about something! Even me sometimes!!

Also...there`s always lots of angles to a story. The PSP can NOT do anything like those mini games. No touch screen=no games like that...or like starcraft etc, which are possible only on the ds. Nintendo tried something new, which more people should try. The same old, same old, doesn`t get me too far anymore. Plus like someone mentioned the psp games cost more, the system costs more. Don`t get me wrong the more I look at the psp, I think I might want one, but not to replace my ds, but in addition to my ds.
Last night the wife and I had some adult beverages and played warioware touched and mario 64DS. You simply can NOT get that experience anywhere else. The graphics are good on the ds, just not great...yet. I`m sure there will be a few games out later this year and later in the generation that REALLY look nice on the ds. I`m done shooting out my random comments.
2589  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / mmmmm...good food indeed, have you guys been here? on: March 18, 2005, 10:18:17 PM

Good stuff. We try and go about once a year(maybe a few more times than that). It`s so good tasting, but so bad for you with all the salt etc. Everything from watching some dude that barely speak english throw knives around and cook right infront of you, to eating the food is pure joy.  Anyone else here a big fan of this, or any other similar places?
2590  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any other console gamers not care a whit about handhelds? on: March 18, 2005, 09:19:47 PM
I really never had one until somewhat recently, and I NEVER thought I would want one.
Well, to make a long story short about 2 years ago, I had ALOT of store credit at EB, and I finally decided to grab a (at the time) new model of the gba, the gba sp. I loved the idea of the battery being built in and rechargable. I played the crap out of that thing , and so did my wife thanks to wario ware and mario golf etc. I sold it to grab a DS, and we love it too. Mario 64ds and warioware touched, both keep us very busy and have been a TON of fun so far.
It`s great for me. Alot of the snes games I never played before, and same with some of the 64 ports(M64 etc.). I rented mario 64 on the 64, but I didn`t even scratch the surface.
I might grab a psp down the road when there are games that interest me, but right now the price is too high, and the games aren`t really my cup of tea.
After having these handhelds though, it really opened my eyes on how fun a handheld can be. Sitting on the porch, consuming some beverages, playing a game of baseball, or m64 etc. Good fun.

I am very very happy with it.

Thumbs up!

Good to hear that. I`ve heard good things about PNY stuff. I have a BFG, and I have to say I`m very happy with it as well.

the best thing about BFG is their lifetime warranty that isn't invalidated when the card becomes outdated.  supposedly, if you have an old card that goes bad, they'll actually replace it with a current card of the same value you initially paid.  i've seen reports of people with cards that are a couple years old getting replaced with shiny new top-of-the-line models.  you can't be that for customer support.

Yea, I`ve read/heard/saw similar things before too. I had to call them once for something and get this...they seemed to know what they were doing  . That`s a rare thing these days  .

I forgot the really obvious. I`ve played counterstrike for 5 or 6 years!!! I seriously have invested some sick amount of time into this game. I used to play it for hours on end. Hours and hours. I absolutely LOVE the humor in this game. They make jokes about themselves and the game left and right. Funny stuff. If my wife and I weren`t in the middle of playing other stuff, I`d play this with her alongside my ongoing game. She`d love it, it`s just so entertaining as a whole. I`d really recommend this to anyone who does/or doesn`t normally like turn-based games. I`m really picky w/ my selection of turn-based games.
Kotor, I tried TWICE to get into...I didn`t like it.
Mario and Luigi:superstar saga...I loved it, and still am. I`m not done w/
 it yet!
Final fantasy tactics for gba I LOVE!
Advanced wars 2, I liked quite a bit too.

I guess this PM2 is the first non-handheld turnbased game I`ve enjoyed in years! It is simply a GREAT game.

All joking aside...I did like the first season, then I got bored of it. But last time it was on, I got into it a bit (to my surprise). They mixed up enough stuff to make it a bit more fresh, for me at least. I`ll probably give it a go more often now because of that.

-XCOM (PC) - uncountable
-Blaster Master (NES) - uncountable

These are honorable mentions:
-Star Control 2 - 8 times

-Master of Orion 1,2 - uncountable
-Master of Magic - uncountable
-CIV series - uncountable
-Wing Commander series - 5 or 6 times each
-Planet's Edge - 4 times
-Gran Turismo 2 (PS) - uncountable
-Monster Rancher series (PS and PS2) - uncountable
-Final Fantasy Tactics (PS) (never finished) - 10 times
-Mario 64 (N64) - 15 times
-Zelda (NES) - 10 times

-Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (NES) - 12 times
-Warp Factor (Apple II) - uncountable
-Phantasie Series (Apple II) - uncountable
-Wizards Crown (Apple II) - uncountable
-Legacy of the Ancients (C64)  (played a ton of times but never finished) - 20 times
-Eamon Adventures (Apple II) (anyone remember these?) - uncountable

I better stop now...

Everything is approximate and uncountable is over 20 or 25 times.
These prolly dont count:
Tactical Ops
Counter Strike: Source

Ok so that may be a little much to mention here BUT... It sure seems like games can't keep my attention as well as they used to...  They just don't make em like they used to.

And now you've forced me to get emulators... Right this second.

OH and..... Starcraft SUCKS!!!!   *ducks*

Wow, and I thought I replayed stuff alot...

Both max paynes I replayed 3 times I believe. Half-life 1 twice I think, and HL2 almost through my 2nd playthrough of it. The original halo on xbox 2 or 3 times, between co-op and just me playing. Prince of persia:sot, once myself and once w/ my wife. I`m sure I will play RE4 once more at least! I know there`s more, I just can`t think of them right now.

Wow, this game really takes off once you get down the road a bit, so to speak.

Once I finished the first chapter this game really takes off. I like how you control the princess and other characters. It`s almost like a interactive cut-scene, where you control other characters but only to advance the story. I loved everything up to this point so far, BUT really seems to go places after the first chapter. Great game so far!
