2121  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / What Should I Upgrade? on: November 03, 2005, 10:13:48 PM

I have a BFG card. I`d personally go that route. It has a LIFETIME warranty, and when I called them for something simple...get this, they seemed to actually know what they are doing. One more fact. BFG is the Nvidia card Falcon Northwest uses. I`m assuming they do that because of the reasons listed above and because they must have less issues with them over other cards. Who know. I have one though and love it!

The eVGA card I ordered has a lifetime warranty as well and thier support is great as I've had one of thier 6800GT's for over a year now.
I also believe the eVGA 7800 GT CO is clocked at 470Mhz/1100Mhz which is higher than the BFG.

I have heard good things about those cards too. I`m not sure about the clock speeds on those ones specifically but...BFG overclocks theirs cards right out of the box. I wasn`t aware that eVGA did the same, but I never really looked into it  .

I`m gonna either start F.E.A.R. or this over again, just not sure which one...hmm. :?

That`s all I`m saying. Like I said after bf 2 and that damn recall of that patch...I`ll give this some time before I grab it. I can`t mention enough how much I hate reinstalling 5 DISCS!!!  :x
2127  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I`d stay away from the F.E.A.R. patch... on: November 03, 2005, 05:21:16 AM
I`m not exactly what it does, I just know alot of people are seeming to have issues with it, and I wanted to get the word out. Reinstalling 5 discs would NOT be fun...I figured I`d lay low for a few days and see what happens.
2128  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / What Should I Upgrade? on: November 01, 2005, 11:00:12 PM
I`m running a 6800gt 256 card and I love it. I`m running a p4 3.0ghz, 1gb ddr etc. I went from a 9800pro 128mb card to this 6800gt 256 card and wow!

As a counter point, I married a "first nighter" and we've been together for 14 years and have 3 children.

I`ll agree on both sides. Me and my wife didnt wait really long...at all...and we have been together for 10 years. But like I said I see both sides of this.
2131  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 will help pc gaming on: November 01, 2005, 10:28:20 PM
Not this again  ... .

I see both sides. I have a p4 3.0 ghz, 6800 gt 256mb card, 1 gb ddr etc. It runs everything really good still, to my suprise. But when it starts to fall further behind the tech curve, that`s when the 360 will strike! For the price I paid for this video card ($399.99, last year) you can get a entire console! I`m gonna try and get in a cycle of playing console games when they are newer and my pc isn`t, then when the console shows it`s age buy a monster PC! I simply can`t keep both going ALL of the time anymore. Too much money, time and effort for me anymore.

I`d love to grab this day one, but I`m gonna wait. I`m still playing F.E.A.R., COD 2, BF2, DOD:S, WOW and a few others. I don`t NEED another game right now. Plus I`d like to see what people think in a few weeks from release on this one.

2134  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Countdown to Nov 8th: "The Movies" Updated SUN on: November 01, 2005, 10:08:19 PM
A few months ago I would have bought this...now...not sure. Black and white 2, while fun for me(if I could play it...) , it is a mess for me on the tech side. Just lots of wierd behavior and buggy!!! Fable on the console was fun...and I mean that. But B&W(the 1st), I loved it too...but also a tech mess for me...
Will the movies be a mess on the consoles?
2135  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I`d stay away from the F.E.A.R. patch... on: November 01, 2005, 10:04:39 PM
It looks like ALOT of people are having issues with this 1.02 patch. I`ll stay away from it and see what happens in a few days, it looks like most  everyone is doing this so it shouldn`t be an issue to find a 1.01 server, and 1.01 runs great for me. This reminds me of the first bf2 patch, and it`s recall...ick.

Anyone here already try it? Any luck? Just curious. Thanks.

I just started my 2nd play though. This time I went with the hardened difficulty level. The normal wasn`t easy, but I figure this should be more of a challenge(In a good way). I`d love to play some MP of this with you guys sometime. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Wow, not alot of impressions flowing on this one. Well, I played the SP all the way through the Mp for a few hours and what a great game, a really great game! I`m running a p4 3.0 ghz, 1gb ddr, 6800gt 256mb card( 81.85, newest official ones) and it runs great. I just keep the setting at the auto config settings besides I turned fsaa to 2x, and the resolution to 1024x768. It runs and looks GREAT! This was a nicely timed pick-me-up for me. Great game.

Thanks guys, alot of you sure are up late  . Ya, it sucks bigtime. It`s horrible, and on top of that it`s SUPER expensive, and there`s really not much more to say other than how much it sucks. Maybe I`ll show off some pictures when I get the chance. I`ve been busy with alot of stuff on top of this too frown .

 . He was only 18 months old. He had lower urinary track disease(NOT infection). It just popped up one day, and literally a week later he is gone. He spent 5 days at the vet and nothing really helped. So even though it was the worst thing ive ever had to do, he wasnt going to get any better...so I guess we did make the right choice.

We have a dog with liver disease that`s not even 6. He had a blood transfusion, cancer treatment, he had a problem were he couldn`t walk temporarily completely out of the blue. After all of that, he is doing great, and we hope he continues that route.

Sorry, I sound like a little kid, and I`m rambling...but, wow. Sometimes things just suck.    Well, I feel better after getting that out. Anyone else have any horrid "luck"  with animals? I don`t really want to turn this into the world most depressing thread, but I`m interested.

I`ll be 30 early next year, and while that is only somewhat old  , it`s still the same effect.

Things either suck and take forever or are enjoyable and fly by WAY too fast.

Don`t mind me it`s way too early, but yes I do certainly agree with you  .

I just finished this game. Holy shit! I haven`t done this before...well in a long while anyways...
I bought it on tuesday. I played on tuesday(5 hours), wednesday(3 hours), and thurday(tonight, 3 more...). I have the urge to boot it up again and restart it on a higher difficulty level tomarrow night too! .
What a truely awesome game, seriously. Like the Max Payne series, it wasn`t the longest game...BUT, also like that series(for me at least) the replayability is/was rather high. Just plain fun, fun, fun!

Seems a bit high to me personally....but I didn't price anything.

If you happen to price anything in this neighborhood, you might be in for a rude awakening. smile  These suckers are beginning to cost real money.

Falcon Northwest/Alienware for comparable rig's invites serious sticker shock. smile

I`m not going to deny that^, but this FNW has served me reallllllllll good over the years  . They know how to sell, build, and support them like no other it seems.

Wow, I`ve played this ALOT in the last two night. I NEVER sit down and play a game for 5 hours at a time...but I managed to do just that, and then 3 more tonight...I`ve still got a little ways to go, and I`ll fire this right up after I beat it on a hard difficulty level. I NEVER do that!

The MP demo ran fine, but the first and only time I tried the retail mp It gave me an error right in the browser :x , but I haven`t tried it again and the SP game runs GREAT! I`d assume that new drivers or a patch will kill that bug.
I`m running it on a 3.0ghz, 1gb ddr, 6800gt, and it runs really well, better than I had guessed it would. This ones a keeper!
2150  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Need a good computer, that can run WoW with NO problems on: October 13, 2005, 10:27:57 PM
I`d recommend a falcon northwest. Look at the prebuilt ones, not the others. I can`t comment on those specifically, but the support and sales there is very good. It might be too much to spend, but like I said I haven`t really looked into those. Worth a look.
2151  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Creative Audigy 2 driver issues!!! Can anyone help? on: October 13, 2005, 10:22:40 PM
Ok, here`s the deal...

This PC is a falcon northwest, I`ve been very happy with it, but that`s beside the point  .

Last time after I ran my rescue disk, I went to update my sound drivers just like many times before. This time it says it cannot detect my card...even though windows sees it, and even though it works fine with the drivers that are currently installed. This was through the auto-update feature on the creative site. So, I tried the manual update...the same thing. I looked on the forums and this is definately a widespread issue.

I spoke with the excellent support at falcon(and I`m waiting to hear from them as we speak) and the one guy said he has seen this 2 dozen times! . He says( I think so anywho, that`s what I am waiting to confirm) that a full reinstall of windows did the trick. Well, I`d obviously rather just run the rescue disk, cuz it`s ALOT less work and the drivers on there seem good enough...for now...Then I look around at the creative forums and lots of people have reinstalled windows etc, and still no luck. I don`t want to do MORE work and have no drivers at all, but I don`t want to run the rescue disk and be "stuck" with dated drivers...

Any ideas? Has anyone here heard of this, or witnessed this themselves?

On top of all of that I tried some work around on the forums and it gave me a blue screen and my sound drivers are now corrupted or missing...and my pc beeps...Which is fine since I`m going to redo everything one way or another, BUT, I`d like some plan of attack here so I only redo things once. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
