Well the title says it all. I`m looking to pick up a 2nd DS so the wife can have her own. Animal crossing is gonna make that happen Tongue . I`ve heard a few things about this, but never more than just a few words. Any REAL answers to this question?
1963  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / M and L: partners in time! on: November 30, 2005, 05:52:31 AM

I finally finished Psychonauts (XB).  What an excellent game!

My wife and I LOVE that game. Funny though, I got it whn it first came out, and we are only now getting near the end. Great game though!
1966  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / M and L: partners in time! on: November 29, 2005, 08:33:49 AM

Well, they seemed to like it. I`ll prolly grab this one at christmas sometime from someone. Animal crossing:DS is already my next purchase in line. But, wow. This M&L game looks to be a good sequel to the first one. Any get an early copy???? Any impressions...?

warning, like a lot of the other smaller places DON'T LET THEM GIVE YOU THE OPENED "NEW" COPIES!!!

i have a not so hot gamestop nearby and they always try to pull the "its our last copy" bit.

Oh how I HATE the opened "new" copy bullshit. I am angry now!

Well, maybe not, now...but I once was.

the save points are mostly nicely placed so don't let that turn you away.

I agree. This is NOT a valid reason for me at least. I played on normal and hard, and no complaints at all. MAYBE there was one or two through the whole game(on hard) that gave me any trouble at all. And on hard, isn`t it supposed to be hard???
1969  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / If the DS goes down to $99.99.... on: November 23, 2005, 10:52:31 AM
The wife will surely get one sooner than thought before. Animal crossing is looking like the one game that will make me and my wife spend HOURS and HOURS on the couch with the DS. Plus most games I already have support the one card play stuff. I sure hope this is true!

1972  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Anyway to cancel "the long diskcheck"? on: November 23, 2005, 08:22:55 AM
It doesn`t run it at startup (unless I tell it to), there`s no bug or anything . Well, as part of my upkeep of the PC, I run a checkdisk. I`ve done it for some time, and well...I guess I just like the peace of mind it brings me  . I was just curious how I could cancel out of it, if I wanted or needed to. Anyone? Anyone?

Disc swapping in 2005/2006?  Please.  I didn't mind for the Final Fantasy games but that was in the late 90's.

As much as I love the 360's hardware (and I'll be getting one eventually) I do think Microsoft dropped the ball on disc medium and (partially) on backward compatibility.

Wow, I guess you don't play PC games that much?  They are only just now  figuring out that everybody has a dvd drive nowdays.  I'll play a good game regardless of how many disks it comes on.

Well that's not really a fair comparison.  When I installed the CD version of FEAR it came on 5 CD's.  I had to swap them all once to install the game then I only used one CD after that.  With console games the disc has to be swapped mid-game.  Six of one and half of the other.

Except I don't want to have to swap discs on consoles anymore now that we have incredibly huge storage capacity.

If it keeps the cost down(as it seemed to), I`ll switch a disk. I did for RE4 on the cube, and I was fine with it. I did it once, I don`t find that hard to do.
1974  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Anyway to cancel "the long diskcheck"? on: November 23, 2005, 06:54:16 AM
The title says it all. Is there any way to cancel the long checkdisk. The one that takes you out of windows. I know you can in the first 5 seconds or so, but after that?

Amazon and other places have some rather negative comments about the latest version (v5) of the WRT54G, so do your research.

Bingo. Now that`s what I`m talking about. I heard it`s a great router, just this revision blows!
1977  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Should I sell my PSP - I am becoming one of those people! on: November 23, 2005, 06:32:40 AM

Thanks guys. This game rocks! This is my sanity to keep me away from the 360 for a few months  . I`m getting a router soon, so then it`s even MORE fun. I also like dry bones, heh, and well...luigi. I`ve heard some of the unlockables are great, and there`s lots of `em. I can`t wait to see!!!

So has everyone finished this game already?  What's the final verdict?  Was the ending satisfactory?

Hopefully it will be heading for the bargain bins pretty soon as I'm interested in picking it up!

I played through it twice. This one is more a game than the first one. Play like a hybrid of city building game and RTS lite.

Mine went back. Buggy piece of shit. Hehe, well it was for me. And I REALLY wanted to play it badly...oh well.

Well for general usage, almost any 802.11b/g router will work good.  I've been using a NetGear router for a few years.  My friend has a Belkin one which... while I dislike configuring it, and you can't do much with it aside from using it as a broadband router, it is functionally fine.

However, if the question is what is the best one, there is a clear winner in that category, and that is the WRT54G (or GS, which is the same except it can use LinkSys's 'SpeedBoost' compression algorithm).  The article I posted has a link to one of the alternative firmware sites- take a look.  You can add tons of features to the router just by using one of the alternative firmwares: we are talking functions only available on $600 business class routers.  I guess the real difference is that you can turn a piece of commercial grade equipment into the equivalent of an enterprise class wireless router as far as features are concerned.

I got the WRT54G just because I'm a geek; I really haven't even done anything with it yet     I have a lot of hardware that ends up like that: lots of cool potential uses I don't put it to.

See I`ve read ALOT of people are having issues with nintendo wifi with the wrt54g, just the newer revision I guess...go figure.

I have the 32" (non-widescreen) version of that Sony, and I love it. Keep in mind when deciding on Normal vs widescreen that a 32" TV gives you a widescreen picture equivalent to a 29" widescreen. Whereas, a 30" widescreen's SD pictures is equivalent to around a 24" regular TV. Just something to consider.

I also have this TV biggrin , and I`m very happy with it as you can see  .
1983  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / MKDS unlockables on: November 21, 2005, 08:11:43 AM
So I`ve put some decent time into this. I`ve unlocked a few things. 2 new characters, some other things too. But where is the meat of the unlockables? I did the 50cc and half of the 100cc so far. Some missions too. Also what`s with the ranks? What exactly dictates the rank? Lot of questions for a GREAT game! Thx.
1984  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Anyone have one of these? on: November 21, 2005, 08:06:59 AM
Thanks guys. I`d prolly go with bb because when i bought my tv there i got the rewards zone stuff, but ill def look elsewhere to see if its worth it, thx for the heads up. I did see that new revisions of the linksys router being dissussed had quite a few issues with both live! and nintendo w-fi though  .

This looks to be issue-free(well...) with both live and nintendo wi-fi.

Does it beat this one?

Ouch. Well, no... but it`s bad. Sorry to hear all of that, I really am. It does seem that unfortunately almost everyone does have alot of bad stories frown .
We`ve spent over $10,000 on a young dog and he is doing better, which is great Tongue . Then we really didn`t have the funds to help out our kitten (18 months old) that we had to put down a few weeks ago. The money it would`ve costed was really up there, and there wasn`t a very good chance he would have made it even with the operation. Also, the problem is known to come back. And that`s only a tiny bit of my issues... frown
But, I was only joking about the 360 as you know  , and we are hear to talk about games and games systems damnit! . On another side note, a good one, that`s a really nice site you have crayolasmoker. Nice clean look to it.

I agree with the DS rocking. I have Metoes(It SMOKES lumines!), mario 64, warioware touched, nintendogs, metroid pinball, and a few gba games, and wow! There all keepers, usually one of my games for a system is on the way to be traded, not on the DS, all keepers for me. A great system it is.

Anybody know how robust the online mode is?  Is it a persistent world or do you just hook up your neighbourhood for others to visit?

I think it was on gamespot where I read some previews, and there`s quite a bit to the online mode in this game. You can have other players come to visit your town and vice versa. Nintendo is also going to "mail" (In the game that is) you things from time to time that you can`t get in the game otherwise I think to. Lookin` good!
1994  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Metroid Prime Pinball is actually good on: November 07, 2005, 07:23:19 AM
I`m really suprised how good this is. After reading the good reviews, and really good user reviews I decided to grab this one. And what a good choice.
Obviously if you don`t like pinball, well then...Otherwise this is a great handheld pinball game, not alot of content, but enough. And what there is REALLY good and lots of fun to play over and over again so it seems.
Anyone else here in love with this game?
1995  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Animal Crossing DS! on: November 07, 2005, 05:59:09 AM
This is only a month away. When I saw the box art at toys r us, I felt like a kid again. I`m thinking of picking up a 2nd DS for the wife for this game. Both of us playing with the wi-fi support=loads of fun I would think.
Is anyone else REALLY looking forward to this?

1998  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Here`s a wierd windows xp question on: November 04, 2005, 06:50:06 AM
I`ve run XP Home and Pro on numerous machines and I`m pretty sure this has happened on all of them at one time or another. It`s not a big deal by any stretch of the imigination, but still annoying it is.

Anywho, in the start menu, where it says your most used programs in that list. I think there`s 5 of em. Well, mine aren`t correct sometimes. Some games and stuff are all accurate, but then some aren`t at all really. For instance right now I`m playing FEAR and COD2, it says fear and all is good. For COD2 it says safe mode...I`m not running it in safe mode and I never have...For painkiller it would say dedicated server, and I never ran it, just the game was ran but it showed up as that.

Any ideas on this one. I`m assuming it`s well know, but who know. Is the path right and just the shortcut wrong or the other way around? Any way around this nonsense  .

 No bites?

I consider it a superior game in almost every way, short of controls.

Hmm, I`ve only heard good things like this about it. And that is a bargain...

I have a BFG card. I`d personally go that route. It has a LIFETIME warranty, and when I called them for something simple...get this, they seemed to actually know what they are doing. One more fact. BFG is the Nvidia card Falcon Northwest uses. I`m assuming they do that because of the reasons listed above and because they must have less issues with them over other cards. Who know. I have one though and love it!

The eVGA card I ordered has a lifetime warranty as well and thier support is great as I've had one of thier 6800GT's for over a year now.
I also believe the eVGA 7800 GT CO is clocked at 470Mhz/1100Mhz which is higher than the BFG.

I have heard good things about those cards too. I`m not sure about the clock speeds on those ones specifically but...BFG overclocks theirs cards right out of the box. I wasn`t aware that eVGA did the same, but I never really looked into it  .
