 I could not agree more...

There`s ALOT more fuss over this than there is over suicide bombers killing innocent people  ...go figure.

People suck  , well most of `em anyway  .
1967  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Waves riding across your monitor screen.. on: February 09, 2006, 10:29:51 AM
Unfortunatley I had a monitor that did that. It`s in the closet now. Is still works fine, but that drove me NUTS :x . So I grabbed a new one and never looked back. I`m not saying that`s the same thing, just sharing my experience with you.

I keep my refresh rate at 85 and I`m happy with it. I can go higher, but I have no problem with 85. I go below that, and my eyes bleed... Well, not really, but it gives me a eyestrain and headaches etc.

But you're really talking about snakes here.  And snakes and I do not go well together.

Lol, same thoughts here too Tongue !

1971  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / My XB360: I've lost all interest on: February 09, 2006, 10:11:53 AM
Well, I do see your point but...if you don`t want it, I sure as hell do! I was trying to get a 360 before my 30th b-day, but...it ain`t gonna happen frown . I`ve been playing games that are on the cheap recently on the xbox and gcube to occupy me until I can get a 360 though. Plus the wife and I both have a DS with Animal crossing and MarioKart so that keeps us busy. That`s not to say when I see my friends on Live! with their 360s I don`t get sad  frown . I do...Oh well, soon enough I`ll have a 360...Oh and BTW, I did sell my PSP, and I really don`t regret it at all, really...I regret buying it and not saving up for a 360 though!!! :x

1974  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I picked up ANOTHER great oldie... on: February 06, 2006, 06:44:13 AM
Well, it`s not OLD, OLD, but about a year I think...

Mercenaries is fantastic! This game is crazy long first of all, and it`s seems to be fun the whole way through too! The graphics and sound are good enough, but the real meat here is obviously the gameplay. Holy hell is it fun! I grabbed this for $30 last week. So are the different characters that much different? Just curious. I`m so loving this so far though, great game!

1977  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Farcry Instincts, anyone? on: February 06, 2006, 06:31:06 AM
So I grabbed this for $15.00 at circuit city. Holy shit this game is great so far. I just got the feral abilities and I`m LOVING that  .  This seems ALOT better than the PC version aside from the graphics, and I loved the PC version so...

The graphics are great on the xbox for the most part, considering the age of the hardware. Some things looks fantastic like the effect on your eyes as you come out of the water, and some things don`t look so good, like some of the textures.

The audio is very impressive so far it seems to. Good 3d position audio with good music makes this a winner in that department too  .

For 15 bucks, wow did I make a great choice!
1978  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Farcry Instincts, anyone? on: February 04, 2006, 08:30:18 PM
I found that circuit city has it for $15 this week, so I`m grabbing it there in a few hours I think. Thanks for the offer though  . I`ll let you know what I think of it soon enough.

I was just wondering what some of you guys thought of this game. The gaming trend reviewer was obviously enjoying the game  . I`ve read that it`s a buggy game, anyone here have any issues with bugs and whatnot? And anyone here play the mp on live!? Fill me in!
1982  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / My PC wierdness...Please peek in... on: February 02, 2006, 08:04:05 AM
Well, I`m going to paste this in from my email to falcon northwest. So here it goes...

I recently had to reinstall everything from the rescue disk. Ever since then, I`ve noticed some wierd behavior with my PC. I`m running the same software as before ( as on the rescue disk ) other than audio and video driver upgrades ( and obviously my programs ).

One time Battlefield 2 just did nothing when I went to boot it up, then the cpu usage went to 100% and stayed there or close and I eventually had to just press the reset button. The same thing happened with World of Warcaft and Steam. Then just today Call of Duty 2 locked and when I brought up task manager it said the game stopped responding. Luckily this time the operating system seems normal at this point so I at least could shut down the PC correctly. In each situation the game worked fine after I reboot the pc , and when call of duty 2 did it, I only had to reboot the game and it worked fine.

I was instructed to reseat my video card and my hard drive cables. I have not done this yet because I was hoping this was a fluke  (or maybe a software issue) and I was hoping that stuff was not needed to be done. I`m definately going to do this if need be, but I was curious if anyone had any other thoughts about this issue. It seems odd that I really didn`t notice this before I did the reinstall and whatnot. It also seems odd that it`s only happened to games. Could this possibly be a issue with the new drivers off of nvidia`s site? Any other ideas on that?

On a side note...Do you know about any issues with direct access  (a nvidia driver setting) and crt monitors? I`ve come across ALOT if people seeming to have issues with those things that resulted in monitor damage. Any ideas of that?

Wow, so any ideas? I`m waiting to hear back from them today. So far they have been very helpful. Let`s hope either someone here or there has some idea. Thanks.

Oh and BTW I`m running a p4 3.0ghz, 256mb 6800 gt, audigy 2 and one gb of ddr. This is on XP Home SP2.

This thread proves something else too... This is really not directed at anyone at all, really I mean that. But, wow this post got all "crazy" too. What about this subject matter makes people go nuts ( sorry guys  )?

That`s what I didn`t get about it in the first place.

1986  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Book Of Daniel... on: January 30, 2006, 09:26:58 AM
Well, first of all... I didn`t plan on watching this until I heard some people crying over it before the first episode aired. I watched and enjoyed the full 2 hours of its premiere. Great show. Funny, interesting, easy timeslot to keep ( one would think...). The wife and I watching 2 or 3 more hour long weeks of this very intertaining show. After last years episode they advertised for next weeks. Next week comes around, and ... they say "catch the remaining episodes on nbc.com"... Uggg.

If you poke around the forums over there on NBC, or watch the news...you`ll see all of the crazy people that bitched about this show and got it canned. It showed a family with religion in their lives, but the catch was the family wan`t perfect. The Dad, addiction to "pills", and talks to Jesus...literally. Jesus`s part is/was written well, funny, and tasteful. The daughter got caught selling pot. The one kid is gay, and the another is asian and adopted. The house keeper smokes pot for her medical condition. The mom drinks boatloads... The whole show was very tastleful though, and very entertaining.

Anyone else like this show until they pulled it? Oh and BTW you can watch all of the unaired episodes on nbc.com every friday night I believe until they are all gone. I`m suprised there hasn`t been a topic of this here yet.

Don`t like it, don`t watch it...right? You`d think so anyway...

Thanks for the caring words all. It helps me feel better seeing them. I almost did'nt write it. Posting something like that on a public msg board is a little strange. But Im glad I did after all.

First of all, I`m sorry to hear about you lose as it`s clear he`ll be missed. While I agree with you about posting that on a public msg board is a bit strange, but who cares. I`ve done it. If it makes you feel better, than what else matters. This place is not-quite-like-your-ordinary-msg-board kinda place anyways  . One thing to think about too... I can say that if I live to 90 I`ll be pretty happy, not too bad at all. Sorry to hear that though.

I was going to grab this on the 360, but I`m not getting one of those for awhile still...but my B-day is in March...Hmmm...I think my system can run this good enough. Is there anyone here that plans on grabbing the PC version of this that has a similar system as mine? Here it is-> p4 3.0ghz, 1gb ddr, 6800gt 256mb, sb audigy 2 etc. If so, I`ll be thrilled to here how it plays on it once this game comes out. I`ll wait for the me to get a 360 if I need to...BUT, if it runs good enough on this, well then...I obviously grab it on PC  .

2000  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Dogs - What Breed? on: January 12, 2006, 08:02:23 AM
Quote from: "Darren8r"
Not to discourage you, but dont get a dog........... Right away.

I have a dog, but to keep him alive, he costs my family the same as a child. And more, I have to clean up his own crap, feed him 3 times a day, fill his water atleast 6 times a day, give him his innsoline shot at 8am and 8pm(daily) and if I miss giving him that i come home to step in a puddle of urine on the floor, and I get blamed for it! Anyways, thats just the daily routine. And I noticed you and your wife want to get dogs, in your new house, like that carpet you got there? Not for long, you'll have to replace it in a week.

ANYWAYS, I love dogs, ^^^^ all that must make it sound like I hate them, but I love them, my dog is apart of the family.

Ok so maybe I'm just suggesting, break in your new home before you start putting other things on your plate.

I also agree here on some points. My dog takes medicine 3 times a day. It costs alot of money, and effort. He goes to the Vet for bloodwork frequently. It used to be every month, but since he is more stable it is less often. He had a blood transfusion, cancer treatment, a nervous system problem. That was alot of money, and effort, and heartache...

Now don`t get me wrong, I`m thrilled he`s here and doing good and we love him a crazy amount, but that`s alot of work. That`s not as "fun" as it sounds when you first think of getting a dog. We had a 18 month kitty we had to put down almost 3 months ago, and that was brutal.

My point is that it is great to have pets. I freakin` love mine, don`t get me wrong. But they are a HUGE responsibility. HUGE. I don`t have kids so I can`t compare...but...Pets are a HUGE responsibilty, with lots of rewards!

That just seems like alot on your plate at once.

Sorry to be so negative Tongue
