1801  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Anyone still play CS:S? on: December 03, 2005, 06:10:00 AM
Quote from: "Creepy_Smell"
I used to play a lot but haven't played much since the old server I played on for years died. It died a bit before CS:S came out and had a semi revival but never recovered as most of use moved to other games or new servers but not just 1 server.

I like playing with the same group and not just totally random people. I played a bit of CS:S on another server I liked but havent played in months. If I play a multi FPS lately I've mainly been playing Coop (JoinOps or Raven Shield).

I wouldnt mind playing a few rounds again though.

When is good for you? I`m all CS:S right now!  :?  It got me again.

I agree though, I played on the same server for YEARS with the same people with beta 3ish through the release of cs:s. It`s great to play this game with the same people day in and day out. A way better experience than random servers. But, i`ve been suprisingly interested in finding a decent server that is well populated to settle in to once again.

Already December. WTF? Wow, time does move faster as I get older. If it keep the acceleration at this rate, I`m screwed. heh. Anyone else REALLY feeling this lately?
1803  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / We just got a Gamestop in town - a good thing? on: December 02, 2005, 09:18:25 AM
I brought home rallisport for xbox when it came out. NEW, or so I thought. I looked at the disc in the store but i saw mothing. I get home under different light I saw LOTS of scatches and deep enough too! I heard "sorry we must of mixed it up with a used one". NO SHIT! And I didn`t buy the "mixed it up" happened on accident. ARGH!

WOW!

If you liked de_nuke before or not, I think you`ll like this remake. The graphics are crazy when CS:S uses that new lighting. I`ll be playing alot of that map for sure!

I played from beta 3 to that release i think was 1.0. I got tired of all the cheating and it got kinda boring. I was always number 1 or 2 and never below 4th place. So I left. Over the years since Ive gone back for a few rounds..even CS:S but two things keep me from enjoying it like I did.

1. Its still filled with jerks and cheaters and people who bitch STILL if you're bad or good.

2. I seem to suck now. I get killed from nowhere, around corners, hell I could die in an enclosed room and not know who shot me or from where.

I agree with ALL of the negative. I`ve played since beta 2 or 3, can`t remember  . Still, it is fun!

I can`t sleep, anyone on? After my steam and its game are updated, ill pop back. If anyone wants to join me...?

I like Tim Burton, but I'm not a huge Jim Carrey fan although he was great in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.  It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

He was GREAT!!! in that movie. One of my favorite movies of all time. I just saw it a few months back. I could on for hours on how much I loved that movie!

1810  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Anyone still play CS:S? on: December 01, 2005, 07:55:27 AM
After YEARS of playing cs in one form or another, I quit, or so it seemed...I`ve been busy with BF2, COD2, WOW, ALOT of stuff. For some reason I started to play cs:s again, just here and there though. Well, I realised that I`ve played it every night this week. My addiction has started again!
So, anyone here up for some cs:s sometime? I`m usually on pretty late. Post if your up for it!

1813  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / We just got a Gamestop in town - a good thing? on: November 30, 2005, 11:50:45 PM
I didn`t read all of the above, just skimmed it. If I were to read it all, the anger would come out  . GAMESPOT AND EB YOU SUCK  !!!

Ok, I`m better now. Here is MY beef with the "fake new stuff"  If I buy a game and open it, then return it...it`s used. If I buy a "new" game from them sometimes it`s open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand why this is for the most part. But it still frickin` makes me angry!
1814  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / DS @ target for $99??? Is that gonna happen??? on: November 30, 2005, 11:46:33 PM
Quote from: "ericb"
Well I just back from Target with a printout from the ad.  No go at all.  Guy shut me down and insisted it was a web only price even though it says in store only.  So I strolled over to Circuit City and got them to verify the price on Target's site and walked out with a blue $99 DS.  Not a bad deal at all especially since it also plays all of my GBA games plus I get Animal Crossing next week smile

 Must do this...Must do this...soon...soon...

Great idea, if I can do this, I will...

I don`t know that much about business, or do I care THAT much. BUT... Simply put, Microsoft isn`t really in a bad place at all, from my view that is.
There is a HUGE demand for the new system, quite a few good games for it on day one and many more coming. The systems will be on store shelves soon enough. I just saw that gamespot is getting their second shipment.
The defects are just that. Day one defects. You buy a warranty for that sort of thing and it =peace of mind. These defect numbers will only go down from here.
Last but not least, Ill still get one in a few months when I can swing the dough for one  .

I agree. This is NOT a valid reason for me at least. I played on normal and hard, and no complaints at all. MAYBE there was one or two through the whole game(on hard) that gave me any trouble at all. And on hard, isn`t it supposed to be hard???
1827  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / If the DS goes down to $99.99.... on: November 23, 2005, 10:52:31 AM
The wife will surely get one sooner than thought before. Animal crossing is looking like the one game that will make me and my wife spend HOURS and HOURS on the couch with the DS. Plus most games I already have support the one card play stuff. I sure hope this is true!

It doesn`t run it at startup (unless I tell it to), there`s no bug or anything . Well, as part of my upkeep of the PC, I run a checkdisk. I`ve done it for some time, and well...I guess I just like the peace of mind it brings me  . I was just curious how I could cancel out of it, if I wanted or needed to. Anyone? Anyone?

Disc swapping in 2005/2006?  Please.  I didn't mind for the Final Fantasy games but that was in the late 90's.

As much as I love the 360's hardware (and I'll be getting one eventually) I do think Microsoft dropped the ball on disc medium and (partially) on backward compatibility.

Wow, I guess you don't play PC games that much?  They are only just now  figuring out that everybody has a dvd drive nowdays.  I'll play a good game regardless of how many disks it comes on.

Well that's not really a fair comparison.  When I installed the CD version of FEAR it came on 5 CD's.  I had to swap them all once to install the game then I only used one CD after that.  With console games the disc has to be swapped mid-game.  Six of one and half of the other.

Except I don't want to have to swap discs on consoles anymore now that we have incredibly huge storage capacity.

If it keeps the cost down(as it seemed to), I`ll switch a disk. I did for RE4 on the cube, and I was fine with it. I did it once, I don`t find that hard to do.

The title says it all. Is there any way to cancel the long checkdisk. The one that takes you out of windows. I know you can in the first 5 seconds or so, but after that?

I played through it twice. This one is more a game than the first one. Play like a hybrid of city building game and RTS lite.

Well for general usage, almost any 802.11b/g router will work good.  I've been using a NetGear router for a few years.  My friend has a Belkin one which... while I dislike configuring it, and you can't do much with it aside from using it as a broadband router, it is functionally fine.

However, if the question is what is the best one, there is a clear winner in that category, and that is the WRT54G (or GS, which is the same except it can use LinkSys's 'SpeedBoost' compression algorithm).  The article I posted has a link to one of the alternative firmware sites- take a look.  You can add tons of features to the router just by using one of the alternative firmwares: we are talking functions only available on $600 business class routers.  I guess the real difference is that you can turn a piece of commercial grade equipment into the equivalent of an enterprise class wireless router as far as features are concerned.

I got the WRT54G just because I'm a geek; I really haven't even done anything with it yet     I have a lot of hardware that ends up like that: lots of cool potential uses I don't put it to.

See I`ve read ALOT of people are having issues with nintendo wifi with the wrt54g, just the newer revision I guess...go figure.

I have the 32" (non-widescreen) version of that Sony, and I love it. Keep in mind when deciding on Normal vs widescreen that a 32" TV gives you a widescreen picture equivalent to a 29" widescreen. Whereas, a 30" widescreen's SD pictures is equivalent to around a 24" regular TV. Just something to consider.

I also have this TV biggrin , and I`m very happy with it as you can see  .
