This game is exactly what I was looking for. It's charming, deep(yet VERY user friendly), intuitive, and seriously the most fun have had in a long while. Anyone out there still playing this regularly?

And I forgot to mention the value here... $20 day one and now $15. And I got it on sale for $7.50!!!

Ahh... But according to Apple, there IS a difference between a PC and a MAC... So by your logic, no he is not allowed here anymore!  icon_twisted

So far I REALLY like(love) this machine. But, there is one aggravating bug with the os. Sometimes it boots to safe mode for NO REASON. The part of the story I failed to mention was...

After two days of having this machine. I, on rare occasion, got boot into safe mode. Randomly. Well instead of looking on the net for info( that would have been too difficult!), I freaked out and called the apple store. This was just 48hrs after buying it. They had never heard of this and recommended I come in. They never heard of this before and we swapped it out for a new system and a day later I saw it again. A little light research gave me an answer. This is a common bug with the newest OS and to avoid it, just sync up the k/b after the system starts booting. I believe apple will fix this. Bluetooth issue is what I found out. I drink too much, goodnight!

You better check yourself before you wreck yourself!

PS, I thought apple store peeps would have know of this, but...I was just as "dumb"!!! icon_lol

first western release to score a perfect 40/40 from Famitsu
CVG

Quote
Skyrim is the 17th title to receive the accolade, joining classics such as Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy XII and erm, Nintendogs.

A few Western titles have come close in the past, with Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, COD: Black Ops, Gears of War 3, and FIFA 12 all nabbing 39/40 scores.

I won't take them seriously. Really nintendogs!!! Perfect!?! Oh my!

So, after having my current PC for about 5 years now, it looks like we will be upgrading on Black Friday. While a few months ago this wouldn't have been a question, I am now trying to decide whether I should get an iMac or a Dell tower. I have become a fan of the iMac form factor, OSX Lion, and working on it in general. That being said, I still run everything on a PC save a few iOS devices in my house, and I can get a much more powerful machine for $200 less.

27" iMac
  • 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
  • 4GB RAM
  • 1TB Serial ATA Drive

Just picked that same machine up last night, awesome!!!!
  • AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5

Wife's education discount: $100
Black Friday discount: $101
Final Price: $1498

Dell XPS 830
  • Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor
  • 12GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM
  • DELL UltraSharp™ U2412M 24" Monitor
  • Nvidia® Geforce® GT530 1GB
  • 1.5 TB Performance RAID 0

Price after discounts: $1299.99 (This does not include any Black Friday discounts should there be any)

So, apples to apples, I get much more machine going with a Dell, but I'm still torn. Thoughts?

Quote from: rittchard on November 23, 2011, 07:44:24 PM

Yeah you need to reconfigure the Dell if you want "apples to apples".  The 27" iMac monitor is absolutely fantastic as gellar mentioned, one of the biggest factors for me.  Of course you could just buy their monitor on its own but if you like iMac form factor I think it's a better deal this way.

This is the thing that sells it for me, though: you can always run Bootcamp on your iMac and you get the best of both worlds.  It's so easy to do these days.  Since I bought my iMac I've used it about 99% as a PC with absolutely no issues.  I run Skyrim on Ultra-High without a hiccup, and the fan doesn't even come on.

The other day for the first time in a long while I switched back to Mac mode and updated everything, I had almost forgotten it was a Mac lol.
What are the specs on your Mac?

Seriously what a hell of a machine this is. Keep in mind my last pc was a 3ghz P4. with a gb of ram and a 64 Meg nvidia. So this 2.7 quad core with 4 gb
And a 512 card is a HUGE upgrade.

I really just wanted something different, most of
My gaming is ps3. So, this is just well, icing on the cake.

Only problem is, my wife might like it too much and want to share..slywink

Island worth a peek on ps3?

I don't really NEED any games now as I'm still chipping away at my backlog... But I do have a addictive personality!

that's because playing games on a cell phone fucking sucks. I'm dumb founded any time someone says that's the future of gaming. No, it's not and for clearly obvious reasons that anyone with a small particle of a brain can see.

also, most of them are awful.

I thought it would be bad playing games on iPhone.... Key word is thought. Sure some games suck on a phone, but there alot that are incredible considering the platform. They are not equivalent to consoles or pcs but iPhone beats the hell outta psp or ds in SOME situations. I guess you don't like orgasms and cupcakes. I've heard from three unrelated people, all of whom are primarily console gamers, that the PC version is vastly superior to the console ports.  One said that after comparing all three, he'd rather not play it at all than be stuck with the 360/PS3 version.

Since you have them both, how would you compare them?

Really "being stuck with it"!?! Wow, spoiled...
That might be a stretch... I'm playing the ps3 version and while it may not be
The most impressive visuals or tech ever, it's MORE than serviceable. In fact, aside from a few quirks it's quite impressive. Choose to not play it on a console, but you'll be REALLY missing out...
