Wife doesn't do sea food, and no alcohol is allowed in our house, any recipes for chicken?

Think about a potential menu or ideas/likes/dislikes you both have and I'd be more than happy to provide suggestions, options, and step-by-step recipes should you be interested.   icon_biggrin

My wife is of Welsh decent and I am Polish/German, so we have a definite appreciation for foods from those geographic regions, and then just general American Farmer's cuisine, if that makes sense.  If we eat meat we eat pork, chicken and beef.  I personally will eat pretty much any type of meat, but those are the ones my wife eats.

What about an herb and mustard crusted pork loin (very German) roasted over locally grown root vegetables (the Farmer's element)?  Even if they're not locally grown per se, you can get creative by using things like fennel, parsnips, celery root, rutabaga, but the old standbys work very well also (carrots, potatoes, onions, etc).  Prep is simple, mostly involving peeling and chopping vegetables, but once that's finished the oven does the rest of the work.  Plus, as everything roasts for over an hour you'll have free time to relax together while the wonderful scents permeate the kitchen.  You could even add a side salad of fresh ingredients and your own homemade vinaigrette with whatever flavors you choose.

And as apples compliment pork very well, a sparkling non-alcoholic cider would be the perfect beverage to accompany the meal (for some reason a type of bubbly always makes a meal feel more special).

EDIT:  I also just thought of some dessert ideas.  If you have a farmer's market in the area, think about getting your root vegetables there, but for dessert you could also pick up some fresh fruit, grill it with a sprinkle of brown sugar, and then top with a yogurt-honey-mint sauce while still warm.  Plums, peaches, and nectarines grill well as does pineapple, and even watermelon.

There you go.  German mixed with a little American Farmer FTW.   thumbsup

Awesome sounding! Not to derail thread even after mothers day is over, but... :nod:The forums here need more food talk!!!

So, I'm new to this, I've been posting here for years but never traded anything. I did sell some GameCube av cables to someone years ago, but that was it. So any tips on this process? Btw, everything is in great
Shape, I really would call it just like new. Being as I installed the game and never touched it then uninstalled it...

Since it's on special, and I've had it in the backlog for a while, I fired up Company of Heroes.  I'm hooked.  Between the voice of Steve Blum in the tutorial and the combat through the first two missions, I really like it.

I saw that on steam and was about to grab it for 1.99 then realized it was only the pc version and not Mac... The Mac version is still 50 on app store!!!!  finger

Didn't play much this weekend yet...@ all... Probably some torchlight later and some hotshot golf on vita as well. Still debating on either getting max Payne 3 on ps3 or diablo on Mac... Can't do both his week or the wife will shoot me..

Just finished watching Giant Bombs 42 minute quick look, and I must admit it looks pretty good. However it unfortunate that it's out right before a bunch of major game releases.

I would really like to get this if I had more time to play, seems fairly innovative. Reminds me of a more polished and expansive version of the game Section 8

That's my issue as well. A huge backlog, numerous titles coming out that I want, not enough time or money to get all of them...then this game comes out...

I'm about three missions into the SP campaign, and it's a lot cooler than I was expecting, honestly.  It doesn't feel tacked on.  Sure, each new mission is easing you into a new facet of gameplay, so it's like an extended tutorial, but they seemed to have put a lot of effort into it.  There's a decent story that's been animated in a stylized way.  And I'm finding the AI to be entertaining.

Please stop talking... I already want this too much...

BTW, weirdly enough I had "I Am The Slime" in my head this morning before even opening up this thread.

It's happening!!!! As mentioned above, overnite sensation is a short, but awesome point of entry. Hot rats is easily one of my favs. Almost all instrumental. And totally phenomenal musically. I could go on and on... Off to the show!!!!

Are the bots? I never cared for SP anyway, but like the way games like Unreal Tournament and Brink take games - awesome online multiplayer with an offline practice where you can play any of the multiplayer maps/modes offline with AI bots.

Even if it doesn't have bots I'll still probably buy it anyway.. as soon as someone runs a $39.99 special for it.

Same here. I really want it.. For 40 bucks..

Anyone else here have a love for (almost) anything frank Zappa? it's a shame I never got to see him, and that he passed so relatively young. During his career that lasted a few decades he released over 80 albums! Holy-shit-fuck! Anywho, I've seen Zappa play Zappa numerous times before with his son dweezel and others that played with Zappa and its always been awesome. Then I saw "project object" which also has ray white and a few others of Zappa's players. So tomorrow I'm seeing a third celebration of his music in the form of "the grandmothers of invention" featuring nepolion Murphy Brock, Tim fowler and others, who also played with Zappa for many years. So any love for fz found around here?

The beta ran just fine for me with a 3 yr old iMac (27", if that matters).  3.06ghz, 4GB.  I ran it at a lower res but full screen, not for performance, but so I could see everything a bit better (larger).  In multiplayer, I only played with 1 other, so not sure what a full team would be like.

Good to know.

I really only have one quick question on this subject matter. Is it possible to use my iMac's gorgeous monitor as a monitor for a windows machine? I absolutely love my Mac, and it's plan was to be utilized as a "family pc". Movies, music, and actually alot of gaming has been done on it! I would just love to be able to plop a gaming windows machine down below the desk and use the iMac's monitor with it. That beautiful screen would make me happy! It has a thunderbolt connection. Is that already an option? Maybe down the road?
