I haven't been this giddy over a game in a LONG time. It's all I think about.. Today is my anniversary and I'm trying to think of what to cook for dinner. Something that makes her sleepy...so I can play more! slywink

some more details:

Quote
The 27-page agreement calls for Bungie to develop four "sci-fantasy, action shooter games," code-named "Destiny," released every other year, beginning in the fall of 2013. Bungie also agreed to put out four downloadable expansion packs code-named "Comet," every other year beginning in the fall of 2014. Activision has never disclosed release plans for Bungie's titles.

The first Destiny game will initially only be available on Microsoft's Xbox 360 consoles, as well as its potential successor, which the contract refers to as the "Xbox 720." Later games would be made for Xbox consoles as well as Sony Corp.'s expected successor to the PlayStation 3, and on personal computers.

I take 'initially only be available' to mean 'timed exclusive'.

That what I read as well.

The problem I'm seeing/having is when I need to step away for a bit.
If l go to ESC, it disconnects.
If I just leave my toon standing there, it disconnects.

So it looks like I cant be comfortable walking away for a few minutes without losing my progress.

That, is not acceptable, whether it be a single player/multiplayer/MMO game.

I haven't had any of these problems. frown

Between frequent checkpoints and just porting to town so I don't die, I'm able to still get stuff around the house done while playing.

Once on day one I got dropped in a similar situation. Since then not at all, in fact when we are playing my buddy and I just leave it on and take a break and sit down and there it is still connected and running.

Btw, the frogs from the witch doctor are rather comical;).

Same here. Tl1 is phenomenal!

How do the mechanics work at finding co-op?  Easy to play with others in PUG fashion?  Or do you need to know other people playing?  I've always been the nerdiest of my close group of friends, so I rarely get to play with people I know.   slywink

I've found it VERY easy to play with friends. Also seems easy to play with strangers if you want to do so.

Diablo3, then more d3, followed by more d3. Then a game called apology, it's where you tell your wife how Srry you are for neglecting her since d3 came out, then more d3... Maybe some max Payne 3!

if you buy this via PSN you will be able to pre-load the game:

Quote
Sony has introduced a pre-buy system to its PlayStation Store, allowing PSN users to purchase and download certain games in preparation for release day.

With the new initiative, PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to download games prior to the release date, and play the moment the game is made available. The first game to use this new system is PlayStation Move-enabled Sorcery, due to be released next week.

Good move Sony.

The move is similar to digital distribution platform Steam's own pre-loading capabilities, by which PC gamers can download games before official release dates to ensure they are playable from the moment the game goes live.

I'm still loving it.  Totally hooked.

My only gripe with the cutscenes is they sometimes overuse the text bit.

To me, they've totally captured the Max Payne spirit and updated it.

I definatly agree. This game rocks. There is alot of holding your hand thru the game, but it's awesome.

For me, having an economy that isn't completely broken is totally worth it.

I agree, and this isn't on the same scale as D1 or D2.  It's much easier to have a smoother launch with a fraction of the players even if it's 12 years earlier.

This would be a whole lot easier on people if they stop even referring to it as 'single player'.  there IS NO SINGLE PLAYER MODE.  You can group with yourself and go solo, but it's still not single player mode.  More like an instanced MMO.  The mindset makes all the difference in frustration. It's not like you're playing Super Mario Bros and get disconnected right before you jump on the flag post.

Agreed, this definitely should have been made clear.  I wouldn't have paid any attention at all to the hype or been disappointed if I had known this was not a single player game.  I have zero interest in playing Diablo online or with other people.  Between the SC2 cash grab of splitting one game into three and now this...  Blizzard has thrown away the credit they had built up for so many years.  Very sad.

Funny how BioWare tanks when EA gets involved.... now Blizzard has missteps in the first two games since Activision got involved.

You don't have to play with anyone, you can choose to keep your games private.

Every Blizzard launch is like this, even before Activision got involved.

Except with Diablo 2 there was less rage because we could at least play offline singleplayer while b.net is down.  Not sure why they didn't include an offline mode with D3?
I agree with that though.

Aside from my buddy in colorada, whom will be getting this on Thursday, I have no others willing I play coop with me. I'm assuming it's fun as all hell, so I wanna try it!

Does d3 have voice chat built right into it? Pretty easy to set up parties? Throw some info to me! Also, and the main reason I posted, who wants to play coop late night? I will even tonight probably!

Edit: I found my one answer... No VoIP. Wierd. I am a fan of Skype if anyone is down. Skype on my iPhone is a godsend at times.
1588  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Had anyone tried out diablo 3 on a mac? on: May 16, 2012, 04:20:28 PM
I just posted in the d3 thread that I also have good performance on my Mac thus far. Really happy about that. Too bad Starcraft 2 didn't run that well for me. Oh well, this is more up my alley anyways!
1589  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 16, 2012, 04:17:55 PM
Yeah, I don't serve the issue with coop. I only played by myself so far, but I'm super stoked to play coop! But, you DON'T have to..

To recap for us Mac players out there, I'm running a 2.8, 512mb ati, 4 gb at mostly high settings with vsync and fsaa on and it runs great @ 1920x 1080 16:9. Very little slowdown at all actually. I'm sure I could tweak it a bit more for a few more fps, but it doesn't seem needed at all.

As far as gameplay goes, it's absolutely awesome. I had to force myself to go to bed at 5 am, then force myself to not call off work to play more...

To run well on my Mac. Seems this will be a ton o fun!

I can't decide which character to press on with but I'm really digging the monk.

Edit: I'm playing on a 27" iMac and it's running really well at full rez. I have shadows turned down but that's the only thing I tweaked.

I'm curious to hear from anyone playing the SP campaign how it compares with the 1st 2 games. I loved the comic book approach to telling the story in those games and I'm wondering if that's back and if so, is it done as well?

I'm interested in this as well. I would only be getting the game for the SP campaign and I'd like to know if it's worth it.

Well, I'll post later today. After the gamespot and ign review I'm sold. Looks awesome. I'm grabbing it on the way home from work and will play later tonight I'm sure of it.

Wife doesn't do sea food, and no alcohol is allowed in our house, any recipes for chicken?

Think about a potential menu or ideas/likes/dislikes you both have and I'd be more than happy to provide suggestions, options, and step-by-step recipes should you be interested.   icon_biggrin

My wife is of Welsh decent and I am Polish/German, so we have a definite appreciation for foods from those geographic regions, and then just general American Farmer's cuisine, if that makes sense.  If we eat meat we eat pork, chicken and beef.  I personally will eat pretty much any type of meat, but those are the ones my wife eats.

What about an herb and mustard crusted pork loin (very German) roasted over locally grown root vegetables (the Farmer's element)?  Even if they're not locally grown per se, you can get creative by using things like fennel, parsnips, celery root, rutabaga, but the old standbys work very well also (carrots, potatoes, onions, etc).  Prep is simple, mostly involving peeling and chopping vegetables, but once that's finished the oven does the rest of the work.  Plus, as everything roasts for over an hour you'll have free time to relax together while the wonderful scents permeate the kitchen.  You could even add a side salad of fresh ingredients and your own homemade vinaigrette with whatever flavors you choose.

And as apples compliment pork very well, a sparkling non-alcoholic cider would be the perfect beverage to accompany the meal (for some reason a type of bubbly always makes a meal feel more special).

EDIT:  I also just thought of some dessert ideas.  If you have a farmer's market in the area, think about getting your root vegetables there, but for dessert you could also pick up some fresh fruit, grill it with a sprinkle of brown sugar, and then top with a yogurt-honey-mint sauce while still warm.  Plums, peaches, and nectarines grill well as does pineapple, and even watermelon.

There you go.  German mixed with a little American Farmer FTW.   thumbsup

Awesome sounding! Not to derail thread even after mothers day is over, but... :nod:The forums here need more food talk!!!
