Something like below should do well. I have one on my wish list for my HTPC setup.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FBK3QK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2AR5CRWHKQOS4&coliid=IB4EZ1SB25S9H&psc=1

I'm looking a similar APC one. About the same price.

Should I treat it just like a PC backup UPS?

Oh, that kind of backup. Yes. I've got a small APC UPS supporting all that (receiver included) and it works just fine. However, I'm not looking for any kind of extended "play during the outage" coverage, more like enough time to calmly wind things down and shut'er down.

Same here. Whatcha using? Also, how that damn joules conversion work again? It's been years since I've bought a new ups. I'll want a ps4, 47" lg led and a , I believe a 500 watt receiver on it. Any help is welcomed and appreciated. I think I am finally setting up my living room 5 weeks later after the move... The electrical work seems to mostly be done in the house and completely done in that room so I wanna play!
126  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Backup on living room entertainment center? on: October 30, 2014, 05:32:04 AM
Long story short...I am looking into using a backup on my, as noted above , living room entertainment center. I've used one on my pc/Mac for years but want to add one to this setup. I'll only hookup the tv and ps4 on it. The receiver would take too much power. So, does anyone have any experience with this? Should I treat it just like a PC backup UPS? Note what draw I need to satisfy? And go forth?🎃
127  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Money pit so it seems. on: October 29, 2014, 04:01:29 AM
So, the electrical should be mostly, if not completley, done tomorrow. If anything I might run a few new circuits off the new box for a few key areas. Might not be necessary after I find out everything tomorrow. Though, really hoping that's the case so I can hook up my ps4 then my Mac! And for other more adult like reasons... We are going after the money from the seller bc it was in the contract that "some of this" should have been done. I won't bore anyone with the details, but "most of it" should have been done, it turns out. Things might be looking up. I hope.

That's been what Ive been thinking. I think I'll scrap this for whatever it's worth. Not enough time in the day to waste it doing the same thing over and over again, then up charge me for even more of the same..

There are many games where people enjoy doing the same thing over and over again. Instead of trying to figure out if you'll enjoy Destiny, why not just play it for as long as you find you're having fun, then stop playing when you're no longer enjoying it?

That's pretty much what I decided. I'll come back for the DLC, but I'm off the grind.  The game is tons of fun especially in a group, but the repetition can be taxing

I guess I'll leave it up to if my friends still want to play it or if I can find peeps to play with.

I bought destiny. I moved 6 days later. Only played for 2 or 3 light gaming session days. Should I just ignore it and sell it off after just reading bitchings and moaning about it. All were a concern. No story. Super repetitive. But yet I enjoyed the beta. Anyone wanna play in the next 2 weeks when I get my whole house rewired? Ha! Or should I ditch it or play it?

I like what they doing. But, it isn't much. I've been happy w ps4 since launch so no biggy here despite the lack of common sense on their part. I pick my battles. Now only til my electrical gets fixed I will use it again! Two weeks or so! Don't wany to derail the thread, but I'll be gamer happy soon and wanna play. Anything.

Sorry to hear about all these issues going on right now. I hope you get a good run of luck soon.

Thanks man. Probably 300lb or so. Not a huge buck but not a baby either. Surprisingly not much damage. It shot straight out when I hit the brakes. So thankfully it didn't fly up over on the hood. It died instantly at least. I feel pretty shitty about killing a animal though.  icon_frown

So ready for this? Quite possibly unrelated but still related again somehow. I hit and killed a deer on my way home from work tonight. Awesome! I feel horribly shitty about killing a animal then on top of it having to fix my car. It could have been SO much worse, but still unpleasant at a bad time. Did I also mention that my wife's grandmother pasted away the same day we got the quote of thousands of dollars? Ack! I just want a break from horseshit about now.

doesn't having a leaky roof for that long lead to mold growth?

Wiring is on our maybe-eventually-someday list. They told us when we bought the house 25 years ago that it needed to be updated. We have an old-school fuse box with some knob & tube wiring still in place. The house is 102 years old.

Five years of un- and underemployment set us back a long way on home maintenance as we cannibalized all of our short-term savings and most of our home equity line. Finally bought a new $8,000 roof last week -- I can take the bucket out of my office, hooray! Now saving aggressively for a paint job next year because the house looks like hell. After that, we can start to think about some of the cosmetic improvements that we've wanted for years, maybe even a kitchen or bathroom makeover. My wife is a year and a half away from the magical age of 59-1/2 when she can access a long-stagnant Roth that's got home improvements written all over it.

Wiring? Yeah, wiring comes sometime after that unless a renovator simply can't work with what we have.
Thx man. Perspective is everything. You can laugh or cry in these situations. Im choosing laughing.

Loving the new house with the new roof, new windows, new driveway, new kitchen, nice hardwood floors( despite the fur control), all good. But! I need to redo ALL of the electrical. Almost EVERYTHING! There's 8k gone. I'm sick to my stomach. I wanted to just throw this out there and get a discussion going because if I state everything now I will explode or implode. Since we moved into the new home and are continually setting stuff Up Im constantly battling fur. Now once all is done and clean it clearly will be easier to mantain, but still I wanna figure this one sooner than later. Any input besides/ in addition to mad vacuuming? On a side note things are progressing and it's getting less stressful everyday so that's a plus. I think by this weekend I should be able to have the living room setup which means I can play my ps4 again! Yay! nod
