For you I recommend 'The Spider'.

Damn, dude. That is pretty messed up.  How big of an animal was it and how bad was your car damaged?

Sorry to hear about all these issues going on right now. I hope you get a good run of luck soon.

Thanks man. Probably 300lb or so. Not a huge buck but not a baby either. Surprisingly not much damage. It shot straight out when I hit the brakes. So thankfully it didn't fly up over on the hood. It died instantly at least. I feel pretty shitty about killing a animal though.  icon_frown

So ready for this? Quite possibly unrelated but still related again somehow. I hit and killed a deer on my way home from work tonight. Awesome! I feel horribly shitty about killing a animal then on top of it having to fix my car. It could have been SO much worse, but still unpleasant at a bad time. Did I also mention that my wife's grandmother pasted away the same day we got the quote of thousands of dollars? Ack! I just want a break from horseshit about now.

doesn't having a leaky roof for that long lead to mold growth?

Id wonder about that too.

Wiring is on our maybe-eventually-someday list. They told us when we bought the house 25 years ago that it needed to be updated. We have an old-school fuse box with some knob & tube wiring still in place. The house is 102 years old.

Five years of un- and underemployment set us back a long way on home maintenance as we cannibalized all of our short-term savings and most of our home equity line. Finally bought a new $8,000 roof last week -- I can take the bucket out of my office, hooray! Now saving aggressively for a paint job next year because the house looks like hell. After that, we can start to think about some of the cosmetic improvements that we've wanted for years, maybe even a kitchen or bathroom makeover. My wife is a year and a half away from the magical age of 59-1/2 when she can access a long-stagnant Roth that's got home improvements written all over it.

Wiring? Yeah, wiring comes sometime after that unless a renovator simply can't work with what we have.
Thx man. Perspective is everything. You can laugh or cry in these situations. Im choosing laughing.

Loving the new house with the new roof, new windows, new driveway, new kitchen, nice hardwood floors( despite the fur control), all good. But! I need to redo ALL of the electrical. Almost EVERYTHING! There's 8k gone. I'm sick to my stomach. I wanted to just throw this out there and get a discussion going because if I state everything now I will explode or implode. Not sure which one, but I need forum therapy.

Since we moved into the new home and are continually setting stuff Up Im constantly battling fur. Now once all is done and clean it clearly will be easier to mantain, but still I wanna figure this one sooner than later. Any input besides/ in addition to mad vacuuming? On a side note things are progressing and it's getting less stressful everyday so that's a plus. I think by this weekend I should be able to have the living room setup which means I can play my ps4 again! Yay! nod

I did this as well 2 weeks ago now and had some of your same fears.  We're now 90% unpacked, which is due to my lovely wife a lot more than me.   I  went with a moving company, but still on the day of the move I was stressed and exhausted.  It gets better, just look forward to enjoying you're new home.

We are having a birthday here tomorrow for an 82 year old with 15 guests , so it's possible to get it all done!

I agree with you about repairs though....  I made the mistake of utilize our realtors "home services" department, which claim they will handle they setup of all utilities.  Let's just leave it at that department didn't do shit and I wish I'd gone with my guy and done it all myself.  All are setup now, but the water was cut off for a brief moment, which now results in a fog horn sound when we flush the master toilet.  Ugh.

Congrats! Painting now. No fun. This home better be more fun:).

I think he sounds more afraid of home ownership than the move itself.

If you're afraid of home repairs, check out this thread from Teggy asking for advice on tools and items every home owner should have.

If you're afraid of paying for home repairs, be sure to set aside money every month for the home repair fund.  Expect that you're going to have to pay for stuff now, rather than hoping it doesn't and then having to scramble to find funds

If you're afraid of the mountain of paperwork of home purchasing, be sure to save all your receipts! Get ready for itemizing your tax return if you've never done it before, because from here on out it will probably be worth it.  Make sure you're doing all the things you're supposed to be doing regarding property taxes, and if the taxes aren't being handled as part of your mortgage payments, be sure you set aside 1/12 of your expected tax payment every month.

If you're afraid of your neighbors, build your fence higher.

Thank you.

I'm not arguing with you first of all . I like playing nice so I'm glad we can keep it that way. Also I'm glad you are enjoying it, as I really want to a lot more. But this could have been so much more. It's really a tiny world.

Not sure why you would think we aren't keeping it nice?

Anyways - I never played Halo, so perhaps I don't have the warm fuzzy memories I keep hearing people talk about and thats probably also a factor. Did Halo feature a large open world? I remember trying a Halo once, where I was on a spaceship, got shot down, and had to go...somewhere?

May I also ask what level you are? Since you say its a tiny world? I actually find some of the worlds pretty big - Venus is enormous! I do dislike the moon, though - so damn boring.

I think the reason I like it, is the minimalistic rpg systems it has actually. I love levelling up skills and weapons, and the hunt for better weapons, for more light on armor at lvl 20 (I'm level 22 right now) is pretty fun as well, IF you like this kind of gameplay. It is, like Tilt says, an MMO at heart, with all the great and bad stuff that comes along with that.

I do enjoy the PVP A lot as well - Control has been fun to play, which is the only pvp I've tried. That has 5 different maps I've seen so far, and there are 4 (5?) different pvp style of matches in right now. The vehicular combat is probably another. If each pvp style has 4 or 5 maps, thats already a LOT of content, especially for a game, where this is only one half of the game.

Strikes are really, really fun to play - So intense and dependent on good gameplay that I'm happy most of those I've teamed up with have been competent. I can't wait to try out a raid as well!

As you can probably tell, I really like the game, and the different stuff I can do in it. I'll never be the one to have 100 marks in crucible and vanguard each week, but I'll still have a ton of fun playing it.

I honestly meant we were keeping it nice. Sorry my wording was a bit off , I'll agree, wanna fight?  :PThere wasn't any sarcasm or anything, rather a compliment .

That being said I'm gonna wait til the move is over and I'm setup again with some free time and try to play a ton of this with my buddy and see if my opinion changes. I guess I've never really had a game let me down so much only to do a 180 and have me love it. There's a first for everything!

Eh no? Did anyone say anything about charging for it?

Content will be released piecemeal this month, and for free.

That's cool and all , really free content is good . But, that doesn't change the fact that the game I paid for was severely lacking in multiple ways when I picked up my copy. Also, if this is more "missions" that reuse the same assets/watch the cube hack whilst I protect it. The formula has to be deeper. Trust me, I really want to like this game. It is just so limited in scope which is the opposite of what we expected based on everything bungie said..
159  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Destiny -Bungie's new game with Activision on: September 16, 2014, 06:03:51 AM
So they will charge me again to play through some of the same areas again! I already bought those! Insane . I already played those too many times already. I can see the argument about it being like a mmo , but they stated it wasn't, and either way, the game has shitty minimal content. Period . Potential it has , I hope they get even close after this sucky launch.
160  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Destiny -Bungie's new game with Activision on: September 15, 2014, 10:20:42 PM
Okay, this game *almost* completely sucks. While fun with groups, playing solo is a joke. THIS FULL PRICED GAME feels like a extended beta or something. They literally cut and copied almost every single mission. No story. Wtf bungie?!! Activision!?! Someone!?! I read something from bungie today that said the players don't understand this game and it take about 20 hrs to get interesting. Well there's a fucking design flaw! My buddy is getting tonight via a late arrival preorder. Once he decides to let it go, you know in a day or two, mines gone. Bestbuy is offering 47 for the trade still around here I think. I hope. I just don't understand how they thought his would fly w consumers. At. All. Unless something "magical" happens soon ... I'll shooty face a few more days and cut it loose.
