The other one crapped out over the weekend:(.

What's the warranty on the PS4s? Were you able to replace it for free?

Nope... But i did bark at best buy because they made it sound like my warranty would provide a new system, not a refurb. So, I grabbed one at gamespot, then got best buy to refund my warranty and give me a new system which I am going to return instantly. I can't believe best buy used to be good...

Sony itself provides a 1 year warranty on the system. I had to use it when mine got hit by lightening.

It was just past the one year mark.

Yeah, hopes all works out. If you still have any issues, please call tech. They were, when I had to use them, a group of individuals that were totally committed to solving my problems....

Mine is really silent. And on top of it, I also fully power it down whenever I'm done playing...mainly as I don't play it all that often. Why use power?

That's my thing. On ps4 updates are super quick. I don't really NEED to have this on at all times. Seriously Google ps4 click... Most people, including myself had/ have one that does that. Think it's the power supply firing up and down. This one, silent almost.

Sure there are more bounties from that new female character but really?

Lame.
Ugh...that's what I was afraid of.  Thanks for taking one for the team.  I'll buy an expansion when they really put some effort and content into it.  Have a full new planet with a new story arch for starters.  Maybe introduce a new class.

I'm really glad I ditched this game. There is no reason to support this business model. Ever.

So does the 1st expansion add more missions where you travel deeper and deeper into a cave/complex and end up in a large room/area where your Ghost then spends minutes trying to hack/analyze/open an important object while waves and waves of evil enemies attack you and you have to hold them off?

Because I never get tired of those levels. Never.

Wasn't that the entire game structure?😁

Analyzing things! I'm good at that! So, I've noticed that my "old" ps4 made a "click" when it shut off and that was well documented to be fine. This one is silent at that point. Haven't played anything on it yet, had to get shit done before bed. But thus far, super quiet. Does anyone have a ps4 like mine where no clicking occurs? Also, standby or off? I'm worries about power even if it's on a ups. Yeah, I'm neurotic. The other one crapped out over the weekend:(.

I was rather shocked by how bland Destiny turned out to be.  I knew it wasn't a full SP game but I expected something better than just re-running the same patrol missions in the hope of getting better loot, just to get better loot so I can re-run the same patrol missions to get better loot, etc.

It sure it pretty though.
This sums it up pretty well.  Pretty/bland

My lightbulb moment came after spending an hour in front of the loot cave.  I played for an hour, got a few blues and more greens, and went from level 20 to level 20 with ~10  more light points .  I looked back and thought what I could be playing instead that I would actually enjoy and everything was more enticing.

Just traded it today. Same exact feeling about it. Every time I was playing it, it felt like I should be playing or doing something else. Same for watchdogs. Just not very good games. I also vote for Diablo ps4. I've pkayed this on Mac and 360 and love it EVEN more on ps4. The game is phenomenal. I just started dragon age on ps4. Wow. Seriously as much as people like to bitch about the lack of games, I enjoyed a ton this year. Last of us, tomb raider, gta5, cod aw and so on. Kept me busy.

They might play smooth, but the issue is when you have someone lined up center mass in your sights, pull the trigger, don't kill him, and die after.

Or die when someone melees you after they've run past you.

That's where the server and lag issues pop up.

I really haven't seen much of that. Cross my fingers.

Does that mean everyone is equally suffering from the crazy lag issues? Last night was the worst I've seen in a long while. I recorded some clips and replayed them today as saw such a great disparity ingame versus kill cam

My experience so far is that, the games play is smooth but if you look at the ping, they read horribly. Even the though the game seems to run really smooth. Actually enjoying my time with COD again.

just as an fyi, there have to be some dedicated servers going on because I've seen all 12 players have bad ping numerous times.  This can't happen in the old system since one person is the host.  I think the problems are more related to being thrown to distant servers and individual player lag + lag compensation instead.

I connected to a french host yesterday...at least i think so. Everyone speaking in french was kind of a give away i think..also they spent the whole game running away.

I laughed

Same.

Played about an hour or so of the sp and so far it's pretty neat. Lots of gadgets being thrown at you and it can be pretty overwhelming.

Did 3 or 4 mp matches and I really have no idea what I'm doing with anything.  I'm randomly turning on gadgets and when I mean to be throwing nades and having shields pop out of my arm when i mean to be meleeing.

It feels really tight so far and no issues with servers.  Got a 12 kill streak and used the UAV, remote turret and the Vulcan drone.  The turret was pretty spray and pray and seemed to take a lot of hits to kill a guy.  The Vulcan overheated  quickly and as a result of these limitations at least these two killstreaks seemed to be pretty balanced the one time I got to use them.  Seems like knife kills are just as op as always

Escaped with a 1.86 KD over this handful of matches.

Overall first blush impressions are quite good.

I feel pretty similar about this game so far. Liking it a lot.

I mean it's only been one business day since I ordered it, so I have quite a while to wait, but it would be neat to know where in the process the build is. They don't offer much in a website though, I was looking around on it last night and they were recommending Norton Anti-Virus 2010 in their FAQ section. Its a good thing they have a good reputation, off of website alone, I wouldn't be so trusting.
Any questions, call them. They went above and beyond for me. Numerous times.

I don't use sleep mode. Ever.

You're losing out on some of the more handy features of the PS4, then. Mine downloads patches whenever it feels like it, and I routinely purchase new games from my web browser (often while at work, since that's when the store updates), which makes the PS4 turn itself on and make sure they're downloaded by the time I get home. It also allows my Vita to turn on and off the PS4 if I decide to use Remote Play.

I know. Maybe I'll start checking it out once this is resolved.

Ditto. I pretty much *only* use sleep mode on my PS4. It's only ever fully powered down if I am moving it.

Oh, that kind of backup. Yes. I've got a small APC UPS supporting all that (receiver included) and it works just fine. However, I'm not looking for any kind of extended "play during the outage" coverage, more like enough time to calmly wind things down and shut'er down.

Same here. Whatcha using? Also, how that damn joules conversion work again? It's been years since I've bought a new ups. I'll want a ps4, 47" lg led and a , I believe a 500 watt receiver on it. Any help is welcomed and appreciated. I think I am finally setting up my living room 5 weeks later after the move... The electrical work seems to mostly be done in the house and completely done in that room so I wanna play!
36  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Backup on living room entertainment center? on: October 30, 2014, 05:32:04 AM
Long story short...I am looking into using a backup on my, as noted above , living room entertainment center. I've used one on my pc/Mac for years but want to add one to this setup. I'll only hookup the tv and ps4 on it. The receiver would take too much power. So, does anyone have any experience with this? Should I treat it just like a PC backup UPS? Note what draw I need to satisfy? And go forth?🎃
37  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Money pit so it seems. on: October 29, 2014, 04:01:29 AM
So, the electrical should be mostly, if not completley, done tomorrow. If anything I might run a few new circuits off the new box for a few key areas. Might not be necessary after I find out everything tomorrow. Though, really hoping that's the case so I can hook up my ps4 then my Mac! And for other more adult like reasons... We are going after the money from the seller bc it was in the contract that "some of this" should have been done. I won't bore anyone with the details, but "most of it" should have been done, it turns out. Things might be looking up. I hope.
