Wanderers are usually on a RP PvP server right? Least thats the way I recall WoW and possibly EQ2..been a while. I loved that RPPvP WoW server. Its the only place I max capped a character. Lots of fun battles and got my own fair share of ganked done to me. Loved it all the time.

Hmmm you may have got us mixed up with someone else.  We generally play on a standard server (largest remaining contingent continues on a standard WoW server), though have been known to splinter off onto other server types.  I don't think a group of us has ever done RP PvP.  The guild was formed in DAOC during the Gone Gold days (close to 7 years ago I think) so for some years was kind of known as the unofficial official GG guild.

We have always had a splinter group that do PvP servers, but it's generally been under 5-10 people depending on the game.

Nonexistent blockade aside, there certainly WAS a desire in some factions of the US govt. to prod Japan into some action that would justify/initiate war.

Anyway.. carry on smile

Yeah there was a desire by some to do that - but if I remember our original argument the issue was if the government itself attempted to initiate war which I don't think is reasonable to assume.

They just needed to get the Japanese into the Peach Orchard

The only other option for me to get the PS3 collector's edition would be to cancel my EBgames preorder and order online.....  But then ebgames.com is charging 17.00 shipping and handling for this thing.    So I guess I have to stick to my 360 collector's edition instead.    I'll be able to play with you guys after all assuming my LAUNCH 360 holds up to this game.      Screw you Microsoft for making such a POS quality console.

The evil side of me (which is quite well endowed) is hoping your 360 dies just because you're so damned paranoid about it and mention it in every frickin post man!

Ok ok... that's it.   I'm switching to PS3.

Sorry regular multiplayer gang.  I just don't trust my 360 launch unit to live up to the marathon sessions I'm going to put into this title.   It's due to go red rings, and I'm sure it will do so as soon as I bring this thing home.    frown    And yes Yellowking, maybe it's a little of me justifying my purchase of a PS3.   It's high time I got some use out of it other than Uncharted.

What is puzzling is that I called up to check if it was too late to do it, and the ebgames guy sounded like he worked for Microsoft.   He told me that the PS3 version frame rates are far worse than the 360 version.     It's almost like ebgames pushes 360 over PS3 nowadays because this isn't the first time I've run into this.     Wierd.

Yet another thing that shows how different opinions can be.  I find the M16 one of the top 5-6 iron sights.

My worst 3 are:

M14 hands down
M60
G36

Best:

AK47/ak74
RPD
MP5
G3
M16/M4

Even though the M16 has an enclosed iron sights, it's not nearly as obstrusive as the G36

On a completely unrelated rant, I was taking the written test for my motorcycle permit today and am very irritated with the test creators.  Half the questions are completely ambiguous and it's really hard to see what they are asking.  I doubt I could pass with the manual in front of me since the lady administering the test couldn't find the correct answers afterwards when I asked her what they were.

Many times there were 2 or 3 of the 4 answers that were in the manual, ALL were correct but apparently there is one magical answer that I'm supposed to know the dipshit that put the questions in thought was the right one.  Thankfully taking it is free and can be done daily, but they will be sick of seeing me soon.  First time I've ever failed a written test in my life and really pissed me off.

Evul bastard! I know your type from WoW!!! ;-)

Well, I agree actually, RP servers have less idiots, although that makes them more obvious, but, I've always thouroughly enjoyed RP servers, since people seem to genuinly care about the world, the guild and the people in it... the PVP option is just to make the world more deadly and interesting to be in - although., depends entirely on the system I guess..

but, I'm definitely going to try out an RP-PVP server...will probably be making a guild called "Gank Harkonis" as well ;-)

I checked and that name was already taken.

Another thing to remember is that due to the slower levelling up, most companies will let you move a character FROM a pvp server eventually, but almost none ever let you move TO a pvp server, ever.

I want to jump into multiplayer as soon as I can but I predict that XBOX Live will be down again due to GTA4.  And when that happens, I'll play the singleplayer campaign.

I think it'll work fine even when 'down' since we won't be using the matchmaking abilities which is the part that throws fits usually.  Remember that we could always do private matches in COD4 even when ranked was worthless.

i really want a racing simulator more than a driving simulator.   not sure if theres anything else for the PS3 right now.   i'm really tempted to get Forza 2 and a wheel.

Forza's going to give you more options and such, but the single player AI is almost as lacking as the GT5P one.  It's slow to a fault (though it's actually more apt to wreck you in a low speed turn).  Really the only races I enjoyed in Forza 2 were the series where all the cars were identical on the hardest difficulty.  Those were by far the most fun.  Other than that, you spend the rest of the time doing what you do in Gran Turismo: intentionally handicapping yourself with a slow enough car for the race that it makes it a challenge.

gellar

If you don't intend on running some mp racing, you might be disappointed with Forza 2 in the long run.  It really shines online though and is my favorite 360 game hands down, I just have trouble finding people to play with.  (friends that is, plenty of people play online)

That's a shame really, part of what I didn't like about 2 compared to 1 was the move from realistic towards COD4 in damage.  If they took it further it would destroy it's uniqueness even more.  I think if they had fixed the net issues along with moving back to the lethality and lower armor values of the first then I'd probably be playing it instead of COD4

I was going to be a dick and say forza 2, but Xmann beat me there and wasn't being a dick about it. slywink

For using the wheel on ps2 or ps3 I'm not sure what I could suggest other than the F1 game.  Most of the available games play better with the stick sadly.

If you like racing, have a 360 and can afford the now-pretty-cheap wheel though, Forza 2 is the racing game to beat for wheel use.

Sorry I couldn't add more, but I'm at a loss on wheel usage for these systems.  Hopefully once GT5 comes out there will be more use for the wheel on the ps3, but I'm not sure it'll be better than Forza 2 either.

We did hunter/hunted in COD4 many times when live was acting up and it was a blast.  Would be fun with vehicles too slywink

I think the key is developing the right "feel".  It needs to feel like a game of cat and mouse with one heavily-armed team looking to hunt down unarmed people in the city.  The game should start with everyone in the same area and the hunted will have a head start of just a few moments.  They'll have to frantically put some distance between themselves and the hunters while also trying to find usable weapons and areas ideal for setting up a defensive position or going on the attack.

The hunters, once the time limit is up and they're free to begin hunting, can work together, go off separately, grab a vehicle, or head out on foot.  At this point all vehicles, which will all be located at the game's starting point, will become unlocked.  Some might even decide to use a helicopter for a bird's-eye view, but if vehicles are left behind, perhaps someone on the run will circle back around and grab a vehicle for more mobility.  One thing to consider: if hunting alone, there's always the possibility that the hunted are working together, and instead of finding one target you may be met with three heavily armed pissed off "deer."  And when fleeing, do you stay close and wait for an opportunity to pick off a few of the hunters as they get mobilized and risk the rath of those left standing, or do you try to find a safe spot to hole up before you develop a better plan.  Do you enlist the help of your fellow hunted or do you risk going at it alone?

Depending on how realistic the game feels, this type of gameplay may bring out true real-life tendencies of players.  Are some more interested in working as a team, do they question their own skill and hope to find a protector of sorts, or will we have loners that don't want to feel hampered by a bothersome tag-along, worrying that the tag-along will draw too much attention or give away their position.

It has potential if we can get the feel and the gameplay right.

I had a lot more fun when we did it in the reverse, with very few heavily armed and many not quite as well armed since teamwork became more important, but I guess that's more like the zombie idea.

I'm confused how some people keep making claims, not backing them up, then accusing others of making claims and not backing them up when they didn't.

Incredibly short-sighted people that are completely full of themselves, good times.

Vietnam, the first Gulf War and WWI aren't a case of a pre-emptive war, since a war was already happening numbnuts.  Our involvement was to aid allies and/or to prevent further aggressions.

Unbreakable seems to have some serious issues with basic definitions of terms if not outright facts.

Define a Blockade

Define a Pre-emptive War

Then maybe we can see where you're coming from and you won't sound so g'damn crazy when you talk

It's like you randomly substitute the definition that suits you to whatever words you choose.

Btw, my definition of 'crazy' above is 'not well informed' as opposed to 'bat shit crazy'  finger
