Give us whatever information of his you can and you'll probably have a google streetview screenshot of him within a half hour.  Bored people with internet access are unstoppable.

LOL. You're probably right about that. But I like to think my Google-Fu is pretty good (brown belt, maybe?). As far as Google is concerned, he doesn't exist. 411 says he doesn't exist. His phones say he doesn't exist.

Though his name is common (Bill on our invoice) and may be listed as the formal version.

Methinks small claims may be in my future.

There are address finders out there that help you begin to trace people:

For example

Also what does the bank that is allowing him to bounce checks say?  Do they gauruntee a right to privacy for what amounts to check fraud?  $4,000 in bad checks is pretty serious isn't it?  The PoPo might end up taking it pretty seriously too, if he's easy to track.

This is true, you need to get the bank and the police working together with you ASAP.  Putting a stop payment on an item you purchased is a form of fraud and I know it's a felony in this state.  The quicker you get both of those involved the more likely you are to get it resolved.

I'm always a sucker for trying the new MMORPGs out.  I think I just barely got my money's worth out of AoC for the first 20 levels of content.  However, in all the time I played, I don't think I got invited to a group once even with my LFG flag on.  Oh well.

AoC made grouping pointless for most PvE.  The elite zones designed for groups was another laughable hack that they tacked on last moment.  You won't ever have trouble finding a group in WAR.  Yeah I know that's a bold statement, but it's true.  The only exception being if you are playing at 4am and there are 10 people on the server, then it might be hard.

I don't think there will be a problem finding a group even then slywink  If I can find a group with limited population of late night closed beta, should be fine on release.

I'd like to add the disclaimer since I apparently pissed off a few people..

If you play with me (as destruction) on the same server as the Wanderers, you can't have any characters on the other team (order).  This means that you will not be able to group with them at all.

I'm offering this option because I have no desire to play Order at all, but I still want to have contact with the guys I used to play with from the Wanderers.  I'd rather see them on the other side of the battle then not at all.

I'd only suggest joining me if you truly must play Destruction or otherwise would not be grouping with them at all.

Thought I made this clear with the way I had worded things, but apparently it wasn't clear enough and panties were in fact in a wad.  ninja

I'll be playing Order/Core, mainly focusing on the PvE areas.  too bad they are only letting you create toons in exclusively Order or Destruction on any given server though-  if I decide to try a Disciple it'll have to be on another core server.

It has to be that way though, or cross faction cheating would be far worse than it will be.  Logging in your Order toon to find out where all the order peeps are so that you can log in your destruction guy and take advantage of that info is something that can ruin a game completely.

Some guy got his head chopped off in front of a bunch of innocent people and this forum makes jokes?

The joke has nothing to do with the actual event, the joke has everything to do with the complete inability of anyone who wants to post interesting news to read the forum for that information first.  There is also the problem that thread titles often tell nothing at all about what's actual in the thread.

Being able to see the humor isn't about the decapitation (which is an awful, and very disturbing story) is a very important part of fitting into a community filled with so many cynical and sarcastic numbnuts (such as meself).

Holy crap.

I remember something like this back in the EQ1 days. Basically, the client was sending FAR more information than what you could see around you, and an overlay was designed to not only show you that information, but to allow you to have an automap of sorts (the zones had to be designed first) no matter where you went.

The devs changed it around after a few months of use so that your client only got the information it needed at the time. As a plus, modem users didn't crash out as often anymore due to information overload.

I'm rather shocked that Conan is sending this much information. That's one hell of a no-no by a design standpoint.

EDIT: Personally, I'd remove the link to the site out of your post. While quite informative, you could also be somebody trying to show that information to others, as people have to purchase the bots within.

I don't think it is unlikely that the OP, post count of 1, is a viral marketer for the AOC radar.

Beware downloading this type of software or you might find yourself with a keylogger on your computer

This is one series that, though the movies do lose something in the translation, they are still fully enjoyable as a whole.

I'd suggest reading all the books, then watching the movies second.  both should be enjoyable experiences, just slightly different.

I was quite surprised how deep the books were, many people kinda gloss over the depth and focus on the frivolity.

I have found that if you work or frequent a place with bad reception, you'll lose a lot more charge than if you get reception all day.  Not sure of the logic behind it though, guessing maybe it's more active in searching for a signal than in maintaining one.  On days I work (in a school building that most of it is a dead zone) when I leave I'll have lost a bar of battery, sometimes two (of 5).  On days I'm not there I'll rarely lose a bar all day even if I make or receive calls.
8639  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Updated: Sad day for a friend on: July 29, 2008, 03:08:10 PM
In my personal experience (which sadly is far too much) most addicts won't want help until they are unable to ask for it.  You can't really make them see that, they have to hit that point themselves.  The best you can do is make sure that they know where to get the help and what the help involves and try to at least keep in touch so that when/if they do hit the point that they are willing to get help they can.

It can be tough to be there for someone and not be there for them at the same time, that's the hardest part imo.  It can take quite a bit out of you which is another reason I'd suggest you work through it with others who can help you.
