The Wanderers will have an 'official' guild on a Destruction/open server in addition to the Order/core server.

I just want to play against them specifically slywink

It's also entirely possible that the e: isn't damaged at all if it's a separate physical drive.

The joke has nothing to do with the actual event, the joke has everything to do with the complete inability of anyone who wants to post interesting news to read the forum for that information first.  There is also the problem that thread titles often tell nothing at all about what's actual in the thread.

Being able to see the humor isn't about the decapitation (which is an awful, and very disturbing story) is a very important part of fitting into a community filled with so many cynical and sarcastic numbnuts (such as meself).

Holy crap.

I remember something like this back in the EQ1 days. Basically, the client was sending FAR more information than what you could see around you, and an overlay was designed to not only show you that information, but to allow you to have an automap of sorts (the zones had to be designed first) no matter where you went.

The devs changed it around after a few months of use so that your client only got the information it needed at the time. As a plus, modem users didn't crash out as often anymore due to information overload.

I'm rather shocked that Conan is sending this much information. That's one hell of a no-no by a design standpoint.

EDIT: Personally, I'd remove the link to the site out of your post. While quite informative, you could also be somebody trying to show that information to others, as people have to purchase the bots within.

I don't think it is unlikely that the OP, post count of 1, is a viral marketer for the AOC radar.

This is one series that, though the movies do lose something in the translation, they are still fully enjoyable as a whole.

I'd suggest reading all the books, then watching the movies second.  both should be enjoyable experiences, just slightly different.

I was quite surprised how deep the books were, many people kinda gloss over the depth and focus on the frivolity.

I have found that if you work or frequent a place with bad reception, you'll lose a lot more charge than if you get reception all day.  Not sure of the logic behind it though, guessing maybe it's more active in searching for a signal than in maintaining one.  On days I work (in a school building that most of it is a dead zone) when I leave I'll have lost a bar of battery, sometimes two (of 5).  On days I'm not there I'll rarely lose a bar all day even if I make or receive calls.
8503  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Updated: Sad day for a friend on: July 29, 2008, 03:08:10 PM
In my personal experience (which sadly is far too much) most addicts won't want help until they are unable to ask for it.  You can't really make them see that, they have to hit that point themselves.  The best you can do is make sure that they know where to get the help and what the help involves and try to at least keep in touch so that when/if they do hit the point that they are willing to get help they can.

It can be tough to be there for someone and not be there for them at the same time, that's the hardest part imo.  It can take quite a bit out of you which is another reason I'd suggest you work through it with others who can help you.

Getting to this thread a bit late, missed it the first time around.  You did the right thing in the first case, hell most people I know would have folded, takes a real friend to not imo.  Sad that things didn't get better for him.  Sometimes people have to hit bottom before they realize they have to change and for some people the bottom is so far down they won't survive hitting it.

I'll second Purge's suggestion that you yourself check out a support group if for nothing else than to get more information on how to help and deal withit without putting yourself off, either emotionally or otherwise.  I think you've done a great job of not being codependant, but don't know what to tell you other than that.

Hope things look up for your friend and I hope you don't let it get you down too much, you can only do so much.  Thankfully it sounds like many of his friends understand that helping him in the easy ways could be a detriment to his well-being.  I do wish he'd move in with his family as was suggested though, that would at least be a step in the right direction if they wouldn't be enablers.

I'll be playing definitely.

I prefer Destruction over Order for faction choice.

I'm leaning towards Open for server type, depending on how they handle the ganking prevention.  If they get too strict then I'll just go Core and make sure I kick more ass in RvR to make up for it.

No offense, man, but those things are ugly...and they're only so good if you lose some of the bounce already lacking from the drums.

These covers, however, not only are great for muffling the clacking sound from the drums, but they also ADD bounce so make your drumming career easier by a country mile...

these are what I ordered

Yeah, I've had those for a little over a month now, and my playing has improved dramatically.  I can pass all but one song on hard, and that's RttH, so it's not due to the equipment, but the player.  smile

I've also started going through expert, though that's an entirely different animal altogether.

I HIGHLY recommend these covers.

It's a race to see if my drums get back from repair or my pads show up first.

Just thought I'd post my impressions of the Premium Drum Covers:

I got the premium drum covers today and put it on my EL drums.  As per a suggestion on the web, I put 2 pads to start with (for EL) and took it for a spin (it came with 4 pads for each colors).  What a difference.  With 2 pads, it muffled the tapping sounds quite a bit, however, since the covers are made of felt, the drums do lose a bit of bounce but the sensitivity is still there for each drum.  When you hit the rims, they will miss notes but if you stick to the inside of the drums, no notes are missed.

Another good thing about these covers is that they're not permanent.  There's no adhesive, the cover has strings that you tie to the underside of the drum set.  So if you happen to have to RMA your drums, you won't lose your covers.

So aside from the loss of bounce, I'm pretty happy with the covers.  The craftmanship is pretty good and it arrived pretty fast.  I ordered it Wednesday night of last week, it was shipped by Thursday morning and got to my office on Saturday, since no one was at the office, USPS took it back and redelivered Monday morning.  Definitely worth the $44 ($34 + $10 shipping).

Here's the website if any of you are interested in purchasing one:

I have a MotoRizr Z3 and I have to say I don't like it that much and if I had to choose again I'd go with another flip phone instead of the slide thingy.  I also had one of them crap out on me after only a couple months and had to get it replaced.

The one thing I do like about the Motorola phones is that you can also use a USB mini cable as a power source (and of course trasferring photos, videos, music, etc).  There have been times I've needed to charge the phone at work or on the road and was very happy to be able to do so from my laptop.

I agree that being able to use the micro-usb is very nice.  the env2 has that feature as well.

I have the env2 and couldn't be happier.  The screen inside is pretty large and the only use for the one outside is to see the number you're dialing or who is calling.

In 3 weeks I'm averaging about 5 people a week asking me what the name of the phone is and where they can get one.

just finished Titan Quest on 'normal' tonight...decent enough game, but i did feel like it was getting a little monotonous toward the end.  by the time i was halfway through Egypt i had most of the equipment that i used through to the end of the game thanks to a few lucky loot drops , and my Ranger (hunter/nature) was pretty much unstoppable up until the final battle with his bow and two feral wolf helpers.  the variation in enemies and scenery helped me push on to the end, but i can't see myself playing it again on the harder difficulties any time soon.  even if they do change up the enemies and loot quite a bit, it's still just more clicking on enemies for another 30 hours.

as for the ending, the final boss fight was pretty lame...one enemy that throws a few big attacks that can kill almost instantly, can leech your health and energy, and who has a ton of hit points is not my idea of fun.  there really wasn't any strategy involved other than using statues as cover and drinking somewhere around 50 greater health potions as i ran in circles to keep from getting hit.  i heard they changed the final battle with a patch because people complained it was too easy...would much rather have fought it the original way when you could actually weaken the onslaught a bit.

i will admit that it was worth finishing just to hear Bang Camaro's Rock of Mages playing over the credits though

Sounds like you don't have the expansion.  IMO the game gets drastically better in Act IV and then again through epic.  The biggest downpoint of each run through is always the boss of the original game.

Regarding the ferry scene; did you guys think that even though he said the other ferry would explode when the switch was pulled, it would actually blow up their own ship?  That's what I figured was going to happen.  The ol' Joker switch-a-roo.

No, that doesn't work. The Joker spends most of the movie trying to get people to willfully commit evil deeds. The (relatively) evil thing to do is to blow up the other boat.  If you want to encourage chaos and selfishness, you have to reward it; not punish it.

Agreed, but when I was watching the film I did indeed have the same guess that leo did.

same here.  I was hoping that idiot guy on the non-prison ship would grab the remote and hit it only to blow himself up after the prisoner threw out their remote.  It still would have been an evil deed because whoever triggered the remote would be killing others while trying to save their own ass.

I was kinda hoping that the detonator itself was the only thing rigged to blow and it would kill whoever pushed the button smile
