Lucas Arts sent my ISP a letter asking them to ban me from the internets after i installed a pirated copy of 'star wars: empire at war'.  my ISP sent me a letter saying "it probably was an accident because of a file sharing program, make sure the game isnt on your computer".  i had already deleted that crappy game at that point, but i dont download much plundered software anymore.

You did?  Bwahahahahahaha.

This should make for some Pr0ner fun at the next family get together slywink

ToS are considered imbalanced right now mostly due to the lack of a limit on their Idols.  You are supposed to only have one at a time with a 60 second timer and people are placing 6+ down so that any mob that comes near gets obliterated.

Regarding the large numbers of spells, combos and abilities, generally speaking you only need access to a few at a time.  Part of the joy for me is that different people playing the same class use different combo chains and spell attack chains.  You can pick and choose.

As posted in the other thread, I use the www.n52te.com so I have access at my fingertips to quite a few combos.

I just use the mouse to click on a combo and then the 1-3 keys to hit the directional attacks.  Hasn't been too difficult for me so far.
+ 3

I laugh at all the 'clickers' slywink

BTW, I use this http://www.n52te.com/ for my left hand and this http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/product.aspx?view=22&pcid=10426173-9aba-45eb-b7ce-af9ef9724d3d&type=ovr for my right hand.

Gives me access to all the combos, all the combat moves and very good precision with my thumbs smile  I used to play FPS' competively so I got used to the trackball for that (plus it's awesome for my carpal tunnel)

Teh n52te takes some getting used to and I hated it at first, hated it with a passion.  But people have sworn by it so I stuck to it and now don't see how I could live without.

This game is almost to the point of pushing me to buy a new computer.  My home system is now crapping out with texture corruption and lock-ups (in both Conan and LOTRO) so not being able to play it when I have time is killing me.

If you can be patient it may pay off.  a LOT of the problems are game and programming related and not really equipment.  Unless you have really old stuff.  People with decent rigs are having problems that just shouldn't be happening.

So with all this stuff I can't use at the moment do we have storage we can use yet?

That's a list of every pre-order and CE item, they are probably just saying that if you have one of those to claim that you should, not that you have all of them.

For anyone curious about the problem I was experiencing:

I've made a little video of the disappearing model bug - and remember that I run with highest possible settings!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NCgdTiZxus

Have you tried backing off the LoD settings or view distance settings?  I run on low settings and have never seen anything like this happen.  Are you trying to run the DX10 client?

Believe me, I've tried everything there is to try in terms of settings. From other angles, I can see those NPCs from "miles" away.

I'm willing to bet you that you have the EXACT same issue, you just haven't noticed it yet. Eventually, you will, believe me.

I've spoken to dozens of people about this, and while some were sceptical, they've all noticed it after checking for it.

I didn't see it myself until I left Tortage and started grouping or PvP'ing - and since I'm on an FFA PvP server it's especially problematic to have people popping in and out of sight at random.

I didn't have this problem until last night, now I'm seeing it as well.  I'm also now getting freezes fairly often.  Not sure if it's server side or client side, but nothing changes on my end.

Servers weren't just taken down to prepare for launch apparently.

There was a quest exploit that you could basically just keep turning in the same quest for large amounts of xp every 5 minutes.  There are now people from level 45-80 running around that exploited before they could shut it down.  Will be interesting to see how they fix it, how long it takes, and whether they do something to the people who are already 80 and cheated to get there.

Why would anyone want to play a game without factions on a pvp server? It'd be just a mess of people ganking each other over and over again with no allies to really count on.

"LOLZ LETZ GROUPZ KAYZ LOLZ I LIE!"

There are many factions forming and alliances, they just aren't enforced by the game engine.  There is a very social RP crowd that is doing a good job at responding to campers and generally as long as you aren't a rpk dick you can walk around unstealthed past most guilds and be fine.

Quick update: guild is up as mentioned, any game guild officer can invite you in.   So post your character name in the roster and send a tell in-game and that's it.

Classes: while I still adhere to the "play what's most fun for you" rule of thumb, it does appear we are a bit short on 2 of the thief classes: ranger and assassin.  Which is kind of odd because usually people love those, oh well.

The people that like Rangers and Assassins are the same people that like pvp servers slywink

Crap, so they apparently took the servers down again today?  I just drove to work so I could play on a good computer and find out that it will be down for another hour at least.

I understand they are "constantly upgrading and tweaking our servers to get everything ready for the big launch" and I didn't mind it so much yesterday for the first launch but now I'm getting a bit annoyed.  I paid for these early days of playing so I could get some hours in on the weekend when I have free time, not so I could sit here in the middle of the day playing the waiting game.  Hopefully they compensate with some free time at least.

Well, on the other hand, I think majority of the players would prefer them to do whatever they need to do with their servers at 2pm rather than having the servers crash in the evening. It gave me the opportunity to watch the hockey World Cup finals, so I am not complaining. biggrin

The game is awesome, the complain I currently have is that as much as melee is different from other MMO's, spellcasting is 100% the same. Being a necro, I keep thinking I am missing a lot of the game, playing a spellcasting char.

Spellweaving supposedly changes all this but I have no clue when you can use it or if it's in yet.

And as far as paying for Early Access goes - technically your $5 went towards playing the game 3 days early, as well as playing for 10 extra days beyond your 30 day trial. Or at least that's what I thought it was.

Well, it's 10 days total.  3 days early access and 7 onto the end of your first month.

I guess I just wish if they were taking the servers down that they would do it at 6am or something, not in the middle of the day.

They should treat the early access days just like normal days since they are billing them like normal days slywink

So, I have to use log me in to access my home computer from my work pc. It makes the screen very small if want to fit inside the web browser and the refresh time is horrible so just scrolling a page is like sheer torture. I dont want to look at it any more than I have to so Im not reading most of the message very hard and I am not taking very good notes.

I apologize for being lazy about this but until we get back onto OO im basically going to be like this unless I decide to skip the game during work and only read and night and that just means I have an avalanche of posts to sift though in an evening and still give me girlfriend the attention demands and probably deserves.

Thats an apology to you guys and not an excuse for the mistakes. I probably should be taking notes.

non-game related note:

I can read the forums fine on my cell phone, just can't post.  Maybe you could use a phone to read from work, then only use the slow-ass login work around to do the posting.  Hope you figure something out.

Any updates on the horrible client? The open beta ran like complete crap, totally turned me off. I learned from AO shenanigans that funcom can't be trusted in what they say. So just looking to see if they actually runs now. I don't have a horrible system by any means.

Thankfully it's nothing like the Open Beta client.  They really made a mistake ever letting people see that horrid thing.

In OB I crashed every 10-20 minutes, pretty much every time a new area would load.  Mem crashes, random crashes, you name it.  Thus far in this client I played 4 hours straight without a single crash, played solo and in group, zoned back and forth many times, keeping fingers crossed this will last.

Not that I want to re-hash this, but again I will point out the Open BETA is/was still a beta, not a DEMO (nor was it advertised as such), and they were very clear they were testing lots of different things with that particular client.  And it appears whatever it was they were testing was fixed.  Miracles do happen!  It's too common these days to go into any sort of beta test and subconsciously treat it like a demo, then get bitchy and disappointed when it's buggy.  Was it a mistake to do that?  Only time will tell - if this release client is any indication, then it was probably worth their while to make whatever adjustments were necessary from what they learned at OB.

Of course I understand what and how an open beta is, but when you put it up on a place like file planet, no matter what you call it, it's a demo.  People will see it as a demo and treat it as a demo.  You're much better off having it a completely closed beta if it's in the state that this OB was.  If I wasn't bored and looking for an MMO right now I would have passed based on what I saw combined with their history.  Instead I took a chance and am having a blast with a mostly smooth experience now that the servers are up.
