Graphics seem very crisp for me.  Are you guys running any options in your drivers?  I force anistropic (sp?) and aliasing on since hte game doesn't have settings for it, makes a big difference in visual quality for me.

I have never gotten the live headset to work through the adapter, on either the RB guitar or drumset.

So how does one ever communicate via voice? I'm not too interested in shredding my cables by modding.

In theory, you should just plug in the adapter, then plug the 360 headset into it.  Unfortunately, I've tried 2 different adapters and I couldn't hear or be heard with either one.  I know it's not my headset, as it works just fine when I plug in into either the Xplorer guitar or the regular 360 controller.

I did, however, pick up a wireless headset, and it worked just fine with the drumset.   I sold it because I wasn't using it enough to warrant the $60, but I think I might need to pick up another one for RB2.

I'll also add that the newer model of microsoft wired headset doesn't need the adapter, it has a different type of plug on the end and works with the instruments straight up.

My headset has worked fine on all my instruments.  You could always get a wireless mic though if that's an option for you.

Though it's not getting much publicity, don't forget the 'normal' RB2 drumkit also has optional cymbals that you can add just like the ion's standard ones.  It also has an optional second bass pedal.

Ceekay, your creature is positively scary! Let me guess, Herbivore? ;-)

anyways, as I posted over at OO, the game has faded a bit on me, space section was, boring and repetitive, and without charm once I played it for a few hours...

The dumping down of the games depth has made this a bit too, well, empty for me - the only thing that matters in your  creature design, seems to be the poison and the spike thing, all other things is purely cosmetic, since having a trillion legs doenst make your creature go faster, or anything else at all...

On the other hand, some people are incredible at this - at my last game, I ran into a christmas gnoe thingie that scared me a LOT!

Rewatching videos of the game from 2 years ago and such, it's a shame to see so many aspects 'dumbed down' from what they were trying to do.  They showed off the procedural animation so much on the creature stage and then in the release you can't actually do the eating/dragging of meat and such.  Now it just eats when you click and if you move it stops.

More impressions. I don't like Space Stage at all. I can see why many people would, and I'm not saying it's bad, but it's my least favorite stage. The learning curve is a cliff.

When I get home from work later I'm going to start a new game and try being a herbivore this time smile

So for me

1) Creature
2) Cell
3) Civilization
4) Tribe
5) Space

Although Space will probably get better as they patch, update and expand the game. Just needs some more tool tips and better mission information. "Return to Bladoo" What? Where in the universe is Bladoo? Turns out it's a planet. In what system? Sorry we're not going to tell you, you have to search 45,000 systems to find it.  disgust

Otherwise the game is terrific!

So far every mission I've had that says to go to a planet tells me the system in the mission details.  Also, if you turn on the travel trails (which the tutorial tells you how to do) the path to your mission planets/systems is highlighted as a giant line. slywink

I'm not digging the combat interface of space mode, but I've had no problems finding my way around.

'Open' beta is still a beta and they will be bringing stuff down and testing the whole time.  Lots of issues still to resolve, but it's kinda normal for them to reboot and tweak often at this point.  Hope the pathing is fixed soon though, i think part of the problem is their reluctance to treat the pet as something other than a mob.  If it used it's own pathing things would work better, as it is the mobs are now sticking to people like pets to their masters and when they can't we get 'target not attackable' do to anti-kiting code

I've owned and worked on many systems over the last 15 years and I've never seen one that sleep/hibernate worked well enough on that I could suggest it's use to anyone.  I always disable that feature on my own systems and suggest my clients do the same.  When brand new with hardly anything loaded it sometimes works fine, but once you start installing and running programs it's often a headache for support.

The Wanderers are a casual guild, I don't see why anyone that doesn't have an issue with them play with them if you're going to play order.

Destruction could be a little different, they will be playing Dest on an Open server.

I'll be playing with a bunch of people on Destruction side of a Core server though, and more are always welcome.

I just don't really see the reason for everyone to start their own guild though, short of the hardcore raiding, tight schedule type people.

I have 10-15 people planning on playing with me, if we get more of the small groups like that together we'll have a large enough pool that everyone should have someone to group with if they want to.  I'd just hate to see us end up like we did with every other mmo with people scattered on 10 different servers between the 4 websites I frequent.

This game alone makes me want to pickup another XBL card to play with you guys again.
don't feel bad, no one can play online with all the broken netcode and bugs that plague this. i seriously want to know how this passed MS' QA. i thought they were to so anal about that stuff. no word on anything is really frustrating everyone.

it's a good game, just by the time i can actually play online i'll have UI and rock band 2. and this game will be once in a while if i feel like it.

I've had a blast and played for many hours with both Leo and Wonderpug.  No problems playing with those two, I have had problems with several other people and all ranked/random matches though.

While a lot of guilds will put together ideal groups for the city content, as far as I know it will still have the open party system which is an easy way for people to get in there and get some action.

Also we don't know yet if the gear you get from those raids is any better than the high level pvp gear (which is only purchasable when your side owns the city).

Well the important thing is that gear is easy to get even for casual players.  You don't have to belong to some uber raiding guild.

Depends on how they flesh things out. You might need to be in an uber PvP group/guild to obtain certain gear, which can be just as time-consuming as being in an uber raiding guild.
Not true, it's not nearly as time consuming for one major reason.  To get gear in this game you can log in, play for 15-30 minutes and have made progress.  There's no way in hell you can do that in any game I've seen with Raids.

Ok, fill me in on how the best PvP gear is obtained because honestly I have not heard. I was comparing it to DaoC, which had uber guilds dominating everyone else due to the amount of time they could invest in the game compared to others.

BTW, in WoW all the PvP gear can be obtained solely through PvPing. You never have to raid a single PvE instance.

My comment was directly to your comment that needing the best pvp gear can be as time consuming as an uber raid, I was merely pointing out that the blocks of time needed are in no way comparable to a raid.  you can play in pretty much any block of time in WAR and make progress.  In a raid you can spend enough time organizing, grouping up and travelling there to eat up a casual players block of time available.

PVP gear is bought with cash, you just have to have a high enough pvp rank.  Since you get pvp xp (renown) for any pvp activity, it all adds up no matter how little you do per session.  This means that given enough time anyone can have the best gear, it will just take them a hell of a lot longer than someone who is really good and has good support.

how much impact does gear have in a game like this?

I'm thinking melee healer to be main, since I love the rp behind them, and then a few alts, with money from the main, since this IS a competetive game, I'm assuming you need good gear to be able to survive?

it helps, but seeing how the game doesn't revolve around 1v1. it won't hurt either. obviously you always want the best. will the battles be decided on gear? hell no, not at all. gear enhances a player in this game.

i'll say it again, this is nothing like your kiddie pvp found in wow. anything you thought you knew about pvp is basically out the door.

Nah, its all button-mashing, reaction time, knowing your skills when it comes down to the nuts and bolts. A good pvper is going to be good regardless of the MMO he is playing. Its not rocket science ya know. smile

Actually battles are sometimes decided by gear.  If you don't have the same tier of pvp equipment as someone else, you're going to get smoked regardless of how good you are.  One set of armor in particular almost triples your effective power level compared to what most people of that level are wearing.  If everyone knew to get that armor asap you'd be right, but right now gear makes a huge difference.

There's a picture of a guy with the armor mentioned holding off (and he ended up beating down everyone pictured and 2 more) more than a full group of people who don't have the equipment.  It's not even close.  He was laughing and emoting the whole time he slaughtered us.  When I got the gear I could do the same on pretty much every class.

One on one will always be apart of MMO's...........EVERYTHING can't be about the perfect group dynamic RvR..

You play a healer, I'll play a tank...2 months into the game lets do a dance...You game?

Sure, I like those odds!  Maybe just maybe a Melee DPS had a chance but not a tank.  They are tanks after all and can't dishout the damage to keep up with heals.  Even a dps spec tank doesn't have the utility skills that melee dps have (heal debuff, silence etc).  And I don't think they will change it in 2 months and probably not in 2 years.

Yeah, yeah.......you keep telling yourself that young un...........see ya soon.... icon_lol

My money is on Sky, having played all the classes at each tier I don't see how a tank is going to solo a healer... period.  I've taken out tanks +5 to me when I didn't even have most of my skills yet. It might take him a 10 minute fight, but it will be lopsided from the beginning.  ESPECIALLY if it's a melee healer

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed Dark Knight. So did I, really, and I believe it's a fine film in terms of entertainment. Does it belong where the hype originally placed it (No. 1 on IMDB)? No, and you all know it. I haven't checked the score, but I'm pretty sure it'll end up below top 10 - which is somewhat more realistic.

your original statements implied that anyone who thought the story in The Dark Knight had any depth was a 10 year old child.  Now you're simply saying it's not the best movie ever made.   Problem is, no one took issue with the idea that it wasn't the greatest film ever made.  You're just hoping to get SOMEONE to agree with you, it appears.

Try this statement next:  "It's got people in it!  And there's talking!".  You may get someone on board after that.   icon_lol

Some people simply can't be happy if they find themselves liking what 'everyone' likes and they subconsciously 'make' themselves like stuff that few people like so they feel different.  I had a friend who used to be like this until we spent a couple weeks pointing out all the little bits of proof.  He had a huge 'omfg' moment and realized that he didn't really like some of the things he thought he did. The mind is a powerful thing and sometimes people are so against comforming that they can't even enjoy things that are popular.
