Just had a thought. My next play through will be an evil unarmed guy. I plan to use the power fist but it just struck me tat in my current game Ive only found 2 of them. How te heck would I be able to keep it repaired??

I'm currently playing as evil unarmed and find that you don't really do that poorly with worn out equipment or no weapon at all.  Iron fist means you still do decent damage and with all the crit bonuses I'm doing crits more often than not and crits do a lot more due to other perks.

I've been finding that Hardcore mode in CoD5 is actually much easier than normal mode.  kinda backwards intuitively, but I usually get the first shot off on someone and in normal mode it gets frustrating how many times I'll hit someone first then they turn around and I'm dead.  In hardcore mode they are dead before they turn around.

I'm working on my review, but I'll say that the part that most people are interested in is rock solid- the multiplayer.  It plays almost exactly like COD4 but with a few improvements and is just as addictive.  It isn't 10/10 but I could certainly say 9/10.  I too was pleasantly surprised.

heh, thanks for the invites to the retail version that only you have  ninja  payback for all the times I've invited someone knowing they didn't have a game just to tempt them to buy it.  Between that and the GoW2 invite spam, I am converted!
8364  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: nice suprise or BS?...[email protected] gets 10/10 on: November 09, 2008, 05:12:59 PM
After putting in over 24 hours of gameplay in the demo then playing CoD4 for a few hours last night I have to say that from what the demo shows I prefer CoD4.  There are things that are better in CoD:WaW, but the experience was more enjoyable in CoD4.  I think a large amount of this is the fact that from the time you know you are being shot to the time you are dead in CoD:WaW is so short you can't react.  In CoD4 if I come around a corner and there is someone all the way on the other side of a room and they start shooting, I have time to panic turn around and get out taking some damage but I'll still be alive.  In CoD:WaW, I'll be dead as soon as I round that corner.

I definitely prefer the dogs to heli's though, people shoot dogs, they don't ignore them like the heli.

For the love of all that is holy, would you people PLEASE stop using the 'invite all friends' or whatever is causing me to receive literally 100 invite msgs in a 12 hours period?

this is way more than the occasional 'you should have bought this' nudge that an invite gives on a game that I don't own.

Most games only get about a month of heavy GT use.

This is both a blessing and a curse.  On one hand if I pick up Gears 2 on release I'll have a good month of heavy-duty MP action.  But that's another game added to my ridiculous backlog and yet another $60 out of pocket following the purchase of Stars Wars:TFU and Fallout 3.  But if I manage to hold out for a bit I unfortunately miss the MP rush, but I save myself $60 as I felt the SP campaign in the first Gears was a bit repetitive and I'm not so anxious for the SP campaign in the sequel.  But then I miss out on the Gears experience, and since the MP portion is such a blast while it lasts, simply getting the game for SP is such a letdown if I miss the initial MP popularity.

This could be an exception with GoW2, L4D and CoD5 all coming within 2 weeks of each other and all very much focused on MP as well as CoOp.

8371  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Left 4 Dead. You are not ready. on: November 06, 2008, 05:01:04 PM
Although I own both and will play some on the PC, I'm having more fun on the 360 version.  The auto-aim more than makes up for the lack of precision on the control pad and I feel much less like I'm playing a game and more like I'm 'there' with the gamepad.  I might try the PC version with the gamepad to see the best of both worlds.

It's kind of irritating that the 360 touts 'HD 1080p' for their games but they aren't really running at that resolution, they are obviously upscaled.  Difference in graphics is pretty huge.  glowy effects are strangely better on the 360.

Hark, you are posting the worst first impressions ever! smile

hehehe biggrin

Most of the time that's how my impressions are. smile  By the time I can take my time and write up impressions I'm either over the game and it's negative stuff or I didn't like the game and it's negative stuff.  I like the game so much that it hurts to take the time to type this. Tongue

I will say that having played on both 360 and PC I actually prefer the 360.  Having some freezing and other issues with the PC version.  First time I've played the same game on both platforms and I have to say that although the game looks much better with everythign cranked on PC, I'm preferring the play on the 360 which shocks me as a long time PC user.

Having played both quite a bit now, I'd have to say you should get RB2.  I agree that some of the song choices for GHWT are 'better' but the game simply isn't as fun for me.  I have a much better time when playing songs in RB/RB2.

It really is interesting to compare the impressions on this site with ones on the no mutants allowed site.  I swear everyone there absolutely hates the game.  I understand the dynamics behind this (sort of), but it's still amazing to actually read.

Some people are more willnig to look at a game for what it is rather than what they wanted it to be. I would absolutely love another RPG with turn-based strategic combat in the fallout universe (or Jagged Alliance universe)... but I also love the hell out of Fallout 3.

+1

Most of the people over there aren't really fans of 'Fallout' the universe so much as 'Fallout 1/2' the games.

I kinda know how they feel though, I love the old pen and paper Battletech, but I hate the miniatures version.

The day/night cycles seem to last awhile.  Since I can't see shit at night, I use that time to listen to the radio stations, go through my inventory, sell things, and talk to people.  During the day, (when I can actually see), is when I do my exploring.  When I see the sun starting to go down I think, "Hmmm... sun's about to set, I better get back to someplace safe."  I actually said that out loud while playing last night and my friend looked at me and laughed.  I'm a big dork, but I don't really give a crap.  I'm loving it!

heh, I'm the exact opposite.  Since I'm playing a stealthy hand-to-hand character I love the night.  I feel naked and vulnerable out in the open during the day and usually use daytime to do other things.

Question regarding Animal Friend.  If you have level 2 of this perk, do the animals follow you around like a pet, or do they just help out if you happen to be near them?  I found a trader that had a Yao Guai as a pet.  If it's like that, I'm all over it.  If it's just that they will help if you happen near them while fighting something else, I'd rather not waste my perks.

I really think they should offer it as a standalone game and as downloadable content. They are missing out on some money otherwise.  I am not very interested in having to load up any other games to get my music groove on.  One disk should do it all and is pretty much what Harmonix promised with the whole Rock Band concept.
