The day/night cycles seem to last awhile.  Since I can't see shit at night, I use that time to listen to the radio stations, go through my inventory, sell things, and talk to people.  During the day, (when I can actually see), is when I do my exploring.  When I see the sun starting to go down I think, "Hmmm... sun's about to set, I better get back to someplace safe."  I actually said that out loud while playing last night and my friend looked at me and laughed.  I'm a big dork, but I don't really give a crap.  I'm loving it!

heh, I'm the exact opposite.  Since I'm playing a stealthy hand-to-hand character I love the night.  I feel naked and vulnerable out in the open during the day and usually use daytime to do other things.

BTW if you don't have a spare and really need to repair something, you can do it with the help of some NPCs (Moira in Megaton for example). You'll have to pay some serious cash though.

Question regarding Animal Friend.  If you have level 2 of this perk, do the animals follow you around like a pet, or do they just help out if you happen to be near them?  I found a trader that had a Yao Guai as a pet.  If it's like that, I'm all over it.  If it's just that they will help if you happen near them while fighting something else, I'd rather not waste my perks.

I really think they should offer it as a standalone game and as downloadable content. They are missing out on some money otherwise.  I am not very interested in having to load up any other games to get my music groove on.  One disk should do it all and is pretty much what Harmonix promised with the whole Rock Band concept.

Works fine so far, I take a fair amount of damage though.

If you're just comparing graphics, it's slightly inferior.  If you also throw in glitches and  lack of achievements, then it becomes shocking.

Only to people who expect the PS3 version to work well.  Sad that so many of the PS3 versions of games seem to get less focus during creation.  It's almost like the devs dont' want it to succeed as a game platform. frown

Is there any way to charge up a spell without standing around like a mannequin and letting baddies whomp on you?  I've maxed out Inferno, but rarely use it because it takes so damn long to charge and I hate being used as a tackling dummy while it's revving up.

That is supposed to be the trade off for using more powerful spells (similarly for the melee charge attack).  The easiest way to handle that may be to have a force push or time slowdown at a lower level so you can use that and then while the enemies are trying to recover you can charge up your big spell.  I'm not a full-time caster, but that seems like the logical solution to me.

i only end up using inferno at higher levels when i first start out a fight.  i can stand up to a few hits if they still need a moment to approach me.  beware though, because despite what the game says, i have been knocked back (and out of a spell charging) with a power attack.

Level 1 Time Stop, then Level 3 Vortex followed by level 4 or 5 Inferno or Shock.  Works like a charm and you rarely get much damage at all.

A few tidbits:

5) Stealth works GREAT for initial shots, as you have a guaranteed critical hit if you hit them with your first shot out of stealth. Sneaking around is very useful.

the game says this, the manual says this, and the guide says this.... but it isn't true. frown  Seems there is a high chance of stealth critical hit if you aren't detected, but I've had many (MANY) times when I was still undetected and failed to get a stealth critical.  I'm almost always sneaking and I have almost 100 in sneaking and it's still the same.

I haven't seen any bartending jobs yet but I'm keeping an eye out.  Last night I re-upped my gold access and saw all kinds of globes (and said hello, but later relaized I had mute on) and heard some mic clicks but found the game seemed to be kinda laggy, so I turned off the globes and everything went back to normal.

I bought up most of the Gypsy camp and a bunch of stalls in Bowerstone Market to start my real estate mogul phase.  I'm just keeping the rents at their default.   I've also discovered the gargoyles.  I hate those things, and don't like that you can hear them nice and clear when they are inside a house and you are outside.  I spent about 15 minutes running around one part of the market trying to find one, and it ended up being on the inside of someones house.

My quest for the perfect boots continues.  I didn't find the stripper boots mentioned before at the Skirt shop but did find a nice pair of Adventurers boots with a boot knife in them for looks only.  I only wish they had made the dye use easier instead of having to exit out using one color and picking another.

I haven't had a problem with telling where the gargoyles are with 5.1 surround.  They sound properly muffled outside buildings and I can definitely home in on them strictly from sound.

I liked the original, I guess, but the combat got too hard for me.

Think I am missing somthing

I've found a ton of things to do and found myself finally 'forcing' myself to get back on the main quest.  Not sure what game you're playing.

Bolt action rifles can be quite frustrating, especially without the scope. frown  Went from a game a 35-6 to 5-20 when switching from the overpowered smg's to the bolt action.  I'd almost always hit the guy first, but it's not a one shot kill and then the long rechambering time would mean I'm dead.  I did finish with a crazy amount of assists though.  icon_lol

SMG with silencer can be quite effective this time around, especially with the shadows you can hide in. Looking forward to the ability to also hide from recon planes.  Eventually you can add a sniper scope to the 'normal' (semi-auto) rifles as well.

The rifle grenades aka WWII Noob Tube, works great.  Very fun, powerful.

Bouncing betties are pretty annoying, more so than claymores ever were since they aren't directional AND are much harder to spot.

I think the scene with Sylar 'out of hearing range' was just portrayed wrong.  It's obvious from the way he acts later that he actually did know what was being said, I think his expression was supposed to convey 'why the F is he doing this?' and 'what am I supposed to do about it' type confusion, rather than the 'I wonder what they are talking about since I can't quite make it out' type confusion.

I'm rather enjoying how they are mixing things up and keeping things moving.  People take shows too seriously anyway.
From what I've learned since I made this post...

First - the scene was (if you re-watch, you may end up agreeing) done in the traditional way a show will demonstrate someone can't hear the conversation.  They show the conversation, then cut to Sylar's point of view, but with No sound, just the talking mouths.  Then they show him, from their point of view.  It's pretty much a device meant to say "he can't hear this."

However, I think once the Vortex guy killed himself - Sylar put 2 and 2 together and knew what was up....  Hence his being knowledgable in the car.

Anyhow - From the Sylar wiki
Quote
After being injected with the Shanti virus by the Company, Sylar loses all of his abilities. After he is cured at the end of the second season, he only regains his abilities of intuitive aptitude and telekinesis
(I don't remember thinking that was the case, but perhaps I just spaced it.)

As much as the show frustrates me from time to time, I still like watching it... but not as much out of love for the show these days, as it is just to see what the hell they will pull next.

I know people have been saying he lost all abilities except a few, but he used other abilities other than telekinetics and the int apt.  I'll rewatch to see which one, but I remember when I saw it thinking those people were wrong.

Sounds good but I hope the two other melee dps classes don't get swept under the rug because I really want to play a Hammerer.

Hammerer and Choppa are mechanics unique to those two classes.  Black Guard and KotBS both share mechanics with existing classes.  I'm pretty confident the only reason these two classes were held back was minor mastery tree tweaking and artistic asset creation/refining.
