42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 7/17/15 - Ant-Man Edition on: July 19, 2015, 12:58:32 PM
Rocket League, Path of Exile and a bit of Ant-Man in Marvel Heroes

edit: Gratch, X-Wing really is amazing and I wish I had more people to play with.  Haven't played in 6 months or so. frown  I am staying away from the 'epic' ships and rules, but the other stuff still counts and is a blast.  Love the Falcon in all it's OP goodness
43  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: July 18, 2015, 09:51:01 PM
everytime I come back to either GD or TQ I have to readjust
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: July 18, 2015, 11:08:23 AM
I went back and played some TQ last week when I was checking my memory on things Blackjack was mentioning and it very much felt about the same on the hit or missing of me running past things.  What I tend to do when playing, whether melee or ranged is liberal use of the shift key to force stationary.  If melee I do it right when I get near them, if ranged I use it pretty much whenever clicking an enemy.

Getting a dash or charge can also help.  It's a bit clunky overall, but if you enjoyed TQ I don't see any disconnect between the games personally.  I do think Diablo and Path of Exile do the precision controls more smoothly though.
45  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Do you like bananas? (NSFK) on: July 18, 2015, 11:05:27 AM
Are you trying to convince yourself that it IS fake as in it could never happen or just that you think this particular video is fake.  Because it very much does happen that spiders hitch rides inside and around bananas to the US from South America

I'm not sure this video is real or fake, but it could very well be real since I didn't see anything obviously fake and the incident being filmed has been documented as happening.
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: July 18, 2015, 07:11:40 AM
to me it feels just like TQ and has the same problems (such as the awkward inventory, limited info and tiny font)

I haven't had that issue with running past an enemy except for when I actually missed and thought I had clicked on them and hadn't since their 'click boxes' are really tiny.

I'm not sure most of your complaints are going to change at any point before this is 'done'.
47  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Do you like bananas? (NSFK) on: July 18, 2015, 12:03:53 AM
I worked at a food plant for one day... one day slywink

Last thing they had me do on my 12 hour shift was unload a banana truck and it was horrible for a few reasons.  I wasn't in great shape and it required 2 people to move 1000 boxes weighing 40 pounds each in an hour for one.  We had to stack them on pallets over head high as well which wasn't fun either.  So as I was nearing completion of my 10 tons of banana moving by myself a spider the size of my face casually came out of one of the boxes and ran across my hand, arm and into the building from the truck.

The other guy unloading just said 'that's why we're wearing these gloves!' and kept working.  My shift ended shortly after and we were told that it was going to be a mandatory double and we'd have a break between.  24 hours of hard physical labor and giant spiders is not for me, I told them so and walked across the lot to a payphone and called the other company that had offered me a job the same day and accepted it after all.  Configuring computers was a much better gig.

50  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Women in combat on: July 11, 2015, 03:01:04 AM
to be fair, ranger training isn't the same as regular training and lots of people perfectly fit for combat probably would fail if they tried it.  Hope at least one of them makes it though.

52  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: [ios] Magic Duels: Origins on: July 08, 2015, 07:28:12 PM
It's definitely more complicated and not really 'better' either.  It's worth checking out since it's free, but Magic has it's own problems that Hearthstone has largely avoided.  from instants to mana screw
53  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / [ios] Magic Duels: Origins on: July 08, 2015, 05:45:16 PM
It's out now for iOS and I'm sad because my ipad isn't new enough to support it. frown  PC/Xbox won't be for another week or so.

looks like the steam version has/had multiplayer post gamespy  and Hamachi works still with the others
55  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: July 07, 2015, 09:06:33 PM
haven't checked multiplayer since then, but LAN was an option so you can always use Hamachi or something similar
56  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Revisiting Titan Quest and Immortal Throne on: July 07, 2015, 12:59:55 PM
Tq had bows, but doesn't GD have a gun related mastery?
57  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: July 06, 2015, 04:06:39 AM
TQ definitely had the ability to filter what you see on the ground, I think it was even in by default.  Ctrl was one rarity filter, alt was another and you could change it.  In fact it was the first game to allow this type of loot filter and it was sorely missed by me in other games.  Thankfully most of them have adopted it now.

the loot being shared from all people was a by-product of a feature I loved in TQ that isn't in GD which was that if a critter had special loot, they were usually using it and it showed.  I'd much rather have that than instanced loot.

Multiplayer still worked last I tried it, which was less than a year ago and well after the gamespy demise.

I do find that most people that talk about someone being 'out of touch with reality' are in fact themselves 'out of touch with reality'.

I hate halo, but there is literally nothing else to play so I might get this.

I've always hated Halo as well, but I was pleasantly surprised with Halo 5's beta.  Played a lot like a mix of Halo and CoD.

Why remove it? It's simply not funny but I wouldn't go so far as to remove it. Lets post some more pics and get to a new page so we don't have to look at it.

because at any rate it's a political/religious joke and should probably be in the thread specificallly made for such things

Culver's burgers are amazing and nothing at all like any fast food place I've been to.  Shame you had one you'd put below McD.  Either they really fucked up your burger or you have no taste.

72  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Battlefront 3 finally announced! on: April 17, 2015, 10:50:01 PM
it's not about whether I can play first person, it's that third is an option.  If third person is an option it allows you to see over and around things.  This makes it the objectively better choice between the two.  I would prefer first person only which also means if you are sneaking up on someone or ambushing them, you know they can't see you.

so the choice is there, but for people who like to win, it's not really a choice.  I feel the same way about third person vehicle view in battlefield.  Piloting a vehicle in first person through streets is so much more challenging and rewarding.  Affects situational awareness quite a bit and immersion as well.

Since previous Battlefront's were third person I figured it would happen anyway and they would probably be burned at the stake if they cut it.
73  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Battlefront 3 finally announced! on: April 17, 2015, 09:27:56 PM
I'm fine with 40 players, I tend to hate the 64 player servers anyway.  bummed about third person though

that would make me poor.  My 5 year old and 2 year old would be pressing that just to press it.  Before I know it, I have 48 containers of paper towels at my door.

first thing I saw when I looked at the link is where it says that repeat presses do nothing until delivery confirmation of the previous press.

Tons of things have potential here, but K-Cups is one that we might actually use

take it

If you have to be there more than one day in a row, just stay at a motel nearby

If it was an everyday commute it could be different, but those kinds of savings should make up for it even if it's a couple times a week
