161  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [Steam] Guns and Robots (F2P) on: August 08, 2014, 02:57:33 PM
This game has me hooked hardcore.  I played about 30 hours in 3 days and still want more smile

It's a round based arena shooter where you build your own robot tank out of parts.  Game structure is like World of Tanks overall.  Inventory space is the biggest limitation to F2P users and it's mostly not P2W.

At any rate the game is a complete blast for me.  If you start playing hit me up for a guild invite, guilds get tiny bonuses but they can add up.

Here's a clip of me playing.  This is three matches first is a Tier 2 fast robot with 2 arms, next is a Tier 2 medium speed with 4 arms, then my Tier 4 medium-fast with 2 arms.

Youtube

Here's some more help, not sure it's all up to date.  I'll be streaming a lot of this, along with some Firefall and some ZMR this weekend (will have some item giveaway keys for ZMR)

What exactly DID Jesus teach, though?  All we have are the written words of so many people...most with agendas...that it's become impossible to know what Christianity really stands for.

I think we should start our own care bear style church.  Keep out the evil PvP'ers and just be content with PvE.

I would burn that church down to the ground, then collect my xp

I hadn't been aware that Fillion was in GotG either.

I thought the VO in the beta was fine, he IS a robot after all.  The alpha VO though was cheesy and hilarious

For me the gameplay felt so good and responsive I couldn't care less about the story.  Almost wish they had kept the bad voice over so I could fight through a campy moon wizard MST3000 voice over.

I still want another Carnage Heart, but the fact is that even if we got it the internet would mean everyone would have really good AI even if they had no clue.  Copy paste for the lose. frown

I prefer Gear Up over Robocraft for now except for the crashes.

Most of what you have mentioned for endgame can be done throughout from what I've read, with the exception of the weekly events and raids.

oh yeah, I forgot.  I had created a group during beta for my stream.

Here it is  http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/150403

You can be in multiple, mine will likely have people not from here so I'll be in both.

Interesting, I thought Drax worked well and Gamora didn't quite work for me.

My non-comic fiancee loved it and thought Nebulae was amazing.

fwiw, Firefall has been scratching my Destiny itch.  Gameplay is similar enough to keep me happy while I wait.

Evolve, and Firefall
176  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Destiny -Bungie's new game with Activision on: August 01, 2014, 10:45:17 AM
I agree with you for the most part, but where I think I feel it's different is I don't think it's a bad thing to force gamers who want something to work for it.  Make some real friends if you want the content, don't hide behind the social crutch of match making.  (and I'm super socially repressed/loner, but it will force me to be more outgoing so I think it's a positive thing)
177  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elite: Dangerous on: July 31, 2014, 09:48:50 PM
I've worn a demo unit, between the inability to quickly and easily check a second monitor and the lowered resolution it would force my streaming, I'm not too interested in it overall.

Also I already sit entirely too close to my screen slywink  I'm less than 3 feet from it.

Basically the fact that I stream definitely affects my opinion, but even without I think I don't really WANT that much immersion since I want to stay aware of what's around me in real life.  I do however want the freedom of head tracking which is why I want a TrackIR.  Checking twitch chat to interact with viewers is an important part of being a 'good' streamer.
178  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elite: Dangerous on: July 31, 2014, 08:21:47 PM
I still think I would prefer to play on my 46" tv and stream with a TrackIR, than play on a Rift

How so?  It didn't seem that there was branches to the powers. You got what you got when you got it. Did I miss this customization capability?

yes, you completely missed this important aspect of the game

I don't find it silly at all and I hope they don't change it.

It's not that hard to make friends and invite people, and they are talking a level of teamwork and trust that would just be too frustrating with randoms.  Play with randoms in the rest of the game, make your friends, then use them to do this.

the comment that 'most action movies don't have things that don't make sense' confuses me.  Action movies are the genre that tends to have the most things that make no sense to me.  It's the type of movie I feel can get away with absurd stuff.

187  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XB1] EA Access on: July 29, 2014, 05:42:51 PM
I know a lot of people will shit on this idea, but I think it's a great thing.  There are plenty of titles (and a lot of them happen to be EA titles) that I only want to play for a short while.

the real kicker will be how limiting are they.  If they only offer gimped versions of new games and older games, it will be a fail for me.  Only way I'd get value from this is if I could play new games or fairly new games on it.

The wording of the release though seems to imply that many games will be a crippled trial to get you to buy the game, in which case this is really just them gating demos behind a paywall.

haven't seen the ps4 version but it looks good on the xb1.  Had a couple people on my stream say they thought it looked better than the ps4, but that might just be because I stream at high quality and maybe the ps4 doesn't.

Gonna be playing and streaming mostly Destiny, but probably a bit of Hex Sat due to free tourney.  Sun I will be at the Brickyard 400 most of the day, so no gaming frown

Twitch highlight

Youtube link, same match

yep, can get quite hairy.

Here's more pimping of myself, put the whole thing here.  There are a few good moments in there definitely.  Will be editing some of my matches tonight I think.

Youtube link for same match, might still be encoding

some people inside might pop old school style, but a lot of times the ships will drop them off on the other side and they run in the back.  It's quite nice from a realism standpoint.  Had some fun moments where people were clearing the zone almost too quickly and the result was tons of dropships bombarding as they dropped of reinforcements.
195  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Destiny -Bungie's new game with Activision on: July 25, 2014, 12:12:47 PM
Set up your party chat before launching the game.  Make sure you actually quit Destiny, not just minimize.  Then it works fine.  It's a known issue that they are working to fix for launch.  Something about thier proprietary voice chat system is conflicting at the moment.  Their system is pretty cool with positional and distance related chat effects, but we're quite spoiled wtih party chat slywink

The network issues are likely because they just opened the beta to everyone to intentionally flood their system and see what it can take.

You can watch the respawns, giant transports warp in and the troops drop out, it's quite frequently.

I think the rights cover all use of the characters.  I don't believe it stipulates only film appearances.  Here's a handy chart of all the characters and their rights by studio. I honestly thought Sony owned more than two characters.  It also is interesting that the rights to Man-Thing were sold to Lionsgate.  I would love to see a film adaptation of that character...and yes, I'm discounting the SyFy feature from a few years ago.

man-thing was mentioned on SHIELD by name.  BTW, I'm about 99% certain of the character rights being movie specific and not just media.  This is also how they keep all the characters on the cartoons (and likely why the rights were worded the way they were).

On that chart at the bottom, should Iron Man and Avengers just be together (and thus in first place) since it's all part of the same series?

When I moved from Boston to Albuquerque, I had an initial culture shock adjustment period to the different level of public friendliness between strangers.  The level of inquisitiveness and smalltalk you get from, say, a grocery bagger in ABQ, is just alien weirdo bizarre in Boston culture.  What does this person want?!  Why are they so curious how I'm going to cook these steaks?  Should I hand over my wallet?!

I'm always wary of this when I travel outside of New England, or even just to western Mass. Friendly strangers creep me out. Takes a few days to realize they aren't after your money or your soul.

ah, but they are..., they are

I hated Chic Fil-A forever since I love their food and they aren't open Sundays which was the day I was most likely to be near the only location we had at the time.  I'd finish playing games at the arcade, run across the hall of the mall and FUCKING SHIT IT'S CLOSED TODAY, STUPID RELIGION!
