121  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: February 02, 2016, 08:46:05 AM
always watch out for people that aren't obviously in a group AND have nothing in their loot pack that are hanging around the extraction zone.  Also any group of 3-4 is enough to worry about just because people tend to get froggy when they know they have backup.

I had a lot of fun in the DZ, and it was mostly friendly or at least neutral people.  People band together pretty quickly vs rogues and seemed mostly tolerant even if you go rogue accidentally while helping.  Had several times I accidentally went red for 20 seconds and the neutrals nearby didn't do anything since they knew how it happened.

I do wish that if someone routinely goes rogue they would be marked in some way and you wouldn't be penalized as much if you shoot first next time.  A few people were gaming the system to always get you in a situation where you know they are going to kill you but can't shoot first or you go rogue and not them.

what would increased player count have to do with it? darkzones are capped instances to prevent that
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: January 29, 2016, 01:01:03 AM
Most of the time randoms seem to be friendly and just trying to get their loot out safely.  Just don't hang out at extraction and it works well.
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: January 28, 2016, 10:03:22 PM
enjoying this so far.  The beta seems quite limited though, more so than most demos or betas imo.  Dark Zone seems to have more potential than I expected.  With a bit of tweaking they might be able to make it work with strong penalties for being a dick, yet good rewards as well to keep it tempting.

excited about hand of fate, I've played quite a bit on pc and wanted it on xb1 also but didn't want to double pay
126  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: January 27, 2016, 06:41:39 PM
I'll be playing and hopefully streaming starting at 4am EST

the one survivor of the original group took out his teammates after they were weakened and/or downed by the other team.

It's probably more along the lines if your friends are ganking you, you should have other friends.

I'm on one of the lower pop servers fwiw, they all get packed at various times
130  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Blade and Soul on: January 20, 2016, 11:02:04 AM
Been pretty hooked by this one.  Kato, Mikagami and I have been playing.  It's a f2p converted from a Korean MMO and they seem to have done a pretty good job of converting it to western design.  They took what was a seriously grindy game and inverted xp so that quests provide plenty and you don't need to grind.  This could change eventually, but so far (about level 30 of 45) I'm ahead of the xp curve just by questing.  They also stripped out the p2w aspects and made sure it's pretty much all cosmetic and convenience.

Inventory space is about the only frustrating part if you are truly f2p, but the ability to easily get to bank and shops and back help alleviate it.  Also free respecs anywhere anytime other than combat helps a lot.

The combat feels pretty amazing to me

We are on the Old Man Cho server.  Keep in mind that for launch they occasionally lock a server to new players to keep people spreading out, but that if you see the server locked it will be unlocked within 6 hours since that's the current rotation

Ripper is ridiculous and is typically always available.  I love it and find it very effective.  Also Rejack was recently buffed and went from trash to at least usable.

This is on sale right now for Xbox Gold members, not sure of the discount since I already own it and it won't show me.  Haven't played much at all since I don't want or enjoy playing alone.  Love what I have played so far though, think it's criminally underrated around here.
135  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty: BlOps 3 on: December 29, 2015, 02:42:42 PM
It's my favorite, basically all  my complaints about it are things that have always been an issue with CoD.  (like head glitching and side strafe/backwards movement speed)

btw, here's 'official' call outs for map spots so we can stop calling locations 'that place with the thing'

Heck of a few days.  Finished Dark Matter camo, only two Hero armor left, got Master Killer calling card and 4 other Master cards, and hit Master Prestige.

I love open PvP, but it definitely needs some restrictions and penalties otherwise it becomes a 'why not shoot everyone?'
139  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Star Wars Episode VII Director Revealed on: December 19, 2015, 01:33:40 PM
Spoiler for Hiden:
I think Finn almost has to be to last as long as he did against Ren, even if Ren didn't have much training with the blade AND was severely wounded, you'd think he'd kill a non-force using lightsaber user easily.  Same with the fight versus the CQB trooper earlier
140  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: December 17, 2015, 09:07:44 PM
I'm looking forward to more of this

https://battle.net/recruit/VGHRBSXXXD is my recruit link

I know most of my friends who would play this already are, since I invited people when I started. However Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided to not be retroactive with the rewards for inviting people and so we are at this. Feel free to create a new account (a Smurf account) and play to level 10 and I can do the same for you. I really want the mount you get for recruiting 4 friends to level 10 and it really blows that I've already invited well over that but whatever.

Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes has it's grip on me.  Turn based combat with a F2P system like Future Fight.

Magic the Gathering: Puzzle Quest also seems quite fun.

Warhammer 40k: Freeblade is a nice on rails RPG shooter.
143  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: December 10, 2015, 04:38:51 PM
I would be playing but for some idiotic reason they decided only physical preorders can play and not digital ones and I have no desire to buy anything physical for xbox.

But I see how it is, you'll play a game like this, but not CoD, Battlefront or even Rainbow Six with us. pfft   crybaby
144  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1]Rainbow 6: Siege on: December 09, 2015, 01:17:29 PM
I really think the default settings are causing some of the problems on console, they have a very odd deadzone setting that was causing jumpy aim.  Thankfully it's fully adjustable
145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty: BlOps 3 on: December 08, 2015, 12:33:24 PM
W/L is largely a part of who you play with.  If you play with competent friends you will win far more often than not in any game mode.

I am always amused by SPM vs K/D though, since a high K/D but low SPM tends to mean a camper who gets few kills per match but rarely dies.  I usually lead in kills, but also in deaths.   icon_lol

Kill Confirmed is my highest SPM, but I tend to play more TDM for the simple reason that I don't have to watch and scream at wtf my teammates are doing while we lose.  In TDM I usually don't know how awful they are doing until it's all mercifully over.  crybaby
146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty: BlOps 3 on: December 07, 2015, 03:02:41 PM
I gave up on K/D many years ago, wish the game had a different system that included SPM and KDA.  Either way camo challenges and now specialist challenges kill my k/d anyway.  Double kills after rejack?  Let me know your K/D when you finish all Rejack related challenges without boosting...  ninja

I'm happy for this as long as the baseline requirements are not lowered to meet any silly quotas.

Once I turned the right stick deadzone down it felt very smooth.

I'm not sure what they could do to a shooter to help you Ritt.  Defiance is probably the closest to a less-twitchy shooter I've played and it's got plenty of twitch.

I'm about 99% sure that in this version LMG's move at the exact same speed as AR's (except the XR-2 which gets a mobility bonus).

The Gorgon is pretty much the most OP thing in the game at the moment (followed closely by the Purifier imo)

Takes some getting used to, but two shot kill, full auto is a rough combo.

156  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: XB1 Elite controller - mecca of console control, or ridiculously overpriced? on: November 05, 2015, 05:07:34 AM
Neat little trick specifically for Halo is that if you set the hair trigger stop on the right trigger to on, then go in the software and change the deadzone and max stick settings to 50, you can get the full effects of holding all the way in without having to press the trigger much.  This is really only relevant because if you use the plasma pistol and have the trigger stops on you can't charge it up normally.
157  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: XB1 Elite controller - mecca of console control, or ridiculously overpriced? on: November 04, 2015, 04:08:23 PM
So far in Halo I use a paddle for melee, a paddle for boost and a paddle for jump.  Not sure how I'll do BO3 yet, need to check the controls again.  Likely need melee, jump and switch weapon (for Y-Y cancels since I have to unlearn sprint cancels which no longer work)
158  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: XB1 Elite controller - mecca of console control, or ridiculously overpriced? on: November 04, 2015, 02:26:00 PM
I'm in love with mine.  I took one paddle off, just the bottom right.  Hand got fatigued and painful too fast holding it so I didn't hit that one on accident.  The other three paddles work like a charm and go a long way towards what I love about it.  The material feels amazing, the dpad is amazing, the sticks are amazing.  It's expensive, but for anyone who cares about any of these things it's worth the price imo.

edit:  If you aren't using ANY of the paddles though, not sure it's worth the price.  Might still be because of high quality construction, but a big draw is the ability to have an official non-modded version of the scuf controllers and with higher quality at that.
159  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox One Discussion on: November 03, 2015, 12:23:32 AM
Mine had always been super accurate with one glaring exception (other than the stupid fact that whoever decided the keyword should be the name of the console should be slapped).  That exception is anytime I say 'that Sucks' it would open the listening menu and screw up my game if in multiplayer.  Hint:  I say 'that sucks' a lot while doing multiplayer gaming so this sucks.
160  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox One Discussion on: November 01, 2015, 04:39:59 AM
I'm curious if the new voice recognition isn't fully using the kinect processor for some reason.  Seems odd it went from spot on most of the time with the occasional hiccup to mostly wrong with some hilariously misheard things.
