Once the Black Ops beta is over I'll be getting a guy to 70 on PC.  Then my diablo time will be back on console.

You might need to check some videos.  There are some insane wall traversal opportunities that you may be missing.

Slowly regaining some shooter skill.  I'm definitely past my prime but having a ton of fun with this.

Liking it so far.  Very smooth and little lag.  Sadly I am now violently ill and cant play.  Also sadly it seems I have become lactose intolerant

they are talking about adding seasons, but not changing the fact that the game is easily hackable locally.  Seasons will be dominated by hackers.
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 21, 2015, 01:05:41 AM
Patches are being released same day for all platforms

Seasons only work when the data is secure, consoles don't do that so no seasons.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 20, 2015, 04:41:46 PM
It's definitely still worth picking up and has evolved quite a bit since launch.  I'm partial to the console versions due to the feel of the controls, the nemesis system and the gifting of loot system.  If you want to play with randoms though, PC is a better bet since there is no cheat/hack prevention on consoles.  (info is stored locally not on their servers)
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Black Ops III on: August 19, 2015, 11:34:39 AM
I'm still of the camp that quick death times are an advantage for 'less skilled' players (those who have trouble keeping the crosshairs on a target).  You have to shoot them less, it's a good thing.  This is why I find it funny when people think hardcore mode is harder.  It's so much easier to get a lucky kill by sweeping over a target.  It's a lot harder to keep the crosshair on a target steadily for a couple seconds than half a second, especially if recoil is enough.

It's a fine balance that COD gets too quickly and Halo too slowly imo.  Though Halo 5 seemed to split the difference in the beta so I'm hopeful.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 18, 2015, 01:47:10 PM
the game would have to be reworked.  For the console version they had to change how many mobs are where and the overall feel of the game because on console you get a soft lock on mobs as opposed to being able to click wherever you want.  as a result some abilities are better, some are worse from one to another.  Console also has the dodge roll to avoid getting hit.

It would have been much smoother if they had just done it with gamepad in mind originally then adapted the m/kb to it like Victor Vran did imo.

In addition to the control feeling better to me, consoles also have the gift system and the nemesis system.  Both of those are pretty awesome.  Sadly they don't store the data on their servers though, so playing with strangers (and some of my friends) is out of the question due to cheaters.  Had a friend try to convince me his legendary rings with 3 gem slots weren't hacked....

(thanks for all the gifts Cov slywink )
14  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: August 18, 2015, 11:59:17 AM
I played the first two before discovering how much less the console version hurt me and how much more control I felt I had with it.  Directly controlling the character just felt so much better to me.

Part of seasons allure is that there is always new stuff you can't get yet otherwise, part is some people like to race to the goal, some people like the incentive to start fresh since the build up is what they enjoy in the first place.

I'll be playing season 4, but only to get to 70 ASAP for the mount in Heroes of the Storm.  then back to console for me.  Blizzard's got it made this month and next with the big patch and changes to Heroes, Hearthstone AND Diablo all coming together.  Quite the draw.

so in this future world where everyone has super high reflexes, nobody can react to being under fire?  you're grasping here.

If you can actually run up a wall or slide in response to taking fire and not die doing so, lemme know.  I doubt it since every previous COD you are dead no matter what you do barring luck/lag.  I'd be fine with having the ability to boost up in the air to avoid fire too, or turn invisible and dart away, all things we don't do in real life.  The point was that there is nothing you can do in COD once you know you are tkaing fire before you die.  Even when you have a ballistic shield in COD, you can't even raise it before you die due to the ttk vs lag.

Man, who pissed in your cheerios?

The point is they designed this game for the soldiers to constantly be in motion, so it makes more sense to run up a wall or slide through a doorway when faced with fire then to stop and hit the ground. You can also float in the air and thrust in a direction to avoid fire.
nobody pissed in my anything, it just seems like you aren't even reading what I post that's all.  I never said anything about stopping or hitting hte ground.  I was talking about being able to react to coming under fire.  You'll also notice that in the video you posted not one person being shot at survives long enough to go up a wall, jump away, or break line of sight.  Even with this super high mobility, it's irrelevant.  See first, shoot, dead.

I'd be happy playing CoD4 again with the only addition being able to actually take cover when fire starts. Doesn't even need a cover system, just give me an quick adrenaline burst to the side once every now and then.  Dying before you can react is the killer of game fun for me.

Most of these shooters are missing the type of movement people really do when under fire.  Quick reactionary dives to cover or bursts forward to the next area.

I think the fact that you can run on walls indicates they weren't really going for a realistic feel slywink

I realize you're making a joke, but this type of comment/attitude is really stupid.  That's like saying if a game has lasers or fireballs they simply shouldn't try to do ANYTHING realistic.  That's bullshit.  You don't have to go 'one shot kills you' realistic, but you can still make a game FEEL realistic with plenty of non-realistic stuff in it.  I guarantee I could make a game with superheroes feel realistic if I had the money to do so.  More importantly it would feel realistic AND fun which is something that seems foreign to anyone these days.
20  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Black Ops III on: August 14, 2015, 02:05:15 PM
the movement in that video looked far slower (both on the ground and in the air) than AW is.  Sprinting isn't the problem in COD, it's the actual movespeed.  If anything the unlimited sprint along with gun being available while sprinting and mantling just means you won't die because you are sprinting.

Personally I'd rather have sprint be unlimited but limit your maneuverability, so you can't really turn and aim while sprinting.  Make it much faster and used as a burst type escape move.  Most of these shooters are missing the type of movement people really do when under fire.  Quick reactionary dives to cover or bursts forward to the next area.  At this point I doubt we'll ever get that so I'd rather at least have smooth movement which this seems to do.  The limit to sprint duration never really served a purpose to me in the first place. Sprinting was a bad thing in COD since you couldn't shoot while doing it and would die before raising your gun if caught while sprinting.

I always felt like a third of my deaths were lag, a third were while reloading and a third were while sprinting.  Now I should die 33% less!  ninja

This is my last COD unless it's amazing.  Only trying it because Treyarch hasn't had a shot yet this gen.  I'm tentatively excited since it looks like it has the mobility of AW and then some, without the crazy speed.  Bit bummed both this and Battlefront are same month though.

I'll play Gauntlet on pc, but not ps4 slywink

I'll probably be picking up Toy Soldiers if I can find enough people for some coop.   Previous ones were quite fun that way.  Also likely to pick up the monk in Heroes of the Storm.  Rest of my time will be on the never ending stream of betas/alphas, which always seem to be more mobas anymore.

I've had great luck with the voice commands and the dance games.  I use them as exercise.

I never keep my xbox in sleep mode.  It's either on, or off.  If you're using the always on mode, you're doing it wrong.  So many games mess up with that mode as well since it doesn't re-initiate network connections properly or handle memory well in that mode.  Half the time you have to restart anyway.  Only downside is you can't download updates automatically this way and they will kick off when you turn it on if one is available.

Every time I've had to use my XB1 without voice available (I take it to my sister's and don't take Kinect) I realize just how useful the feature is as I often find myself saying the commands anyway then having to remember the other way to do it.

I upgraded and it's been super smooth so far, I also enjoy the xbox integration.

Moving windows from one monitor to another is a bit trickier for seemingly no reason, but that's the only issue I've had.  I'll have more time to mess with things after Gencon

I like match 3, I don't really care for the 'slide the whole row/column' variety of match 3 though.
31  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Swerve or Stay In Your Lane? on: July 27, 2015, 06:41:55 PM
My natural instinct is always to avoid the hit, so I would probably swerve.  Not swerving is the 'correct' answer though, but even in games where the object is to hit things (whether chaining coin pickups or hitting other drivers) I tend to 'skillfully' avoid hitting the things I'm supposed to be collecting.

Look forward to some coop

Rocket League, Path of Exile and a bit of Ant-Man in Marvel Heroes

edit: Gratch, X-Wing really is amazing and I wish I had more people to play with.  Haven't played in 6 months or so. frown  I am staying away from the 'epic' ships and rules, but the other stuff still counts and is a blast.  Love the Falcon in all it's OP goodness
