I'm on XB1, but I find matches almost instantly and it does fill in during a match as people quit.  My problem is after a match when people leave it doesn't fill in the slots.  It's baffling to me, but the end result is that most of the time you have to back out after a match and queue up again (which then works quickly).  It's just weird to me that the join in progress works so flawlessly except at a natural stopping point.

likely to be an open one right before launch
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: February 14, 2017, 02:50:26 PM
I enjoy the 2v2 and the 1v1 a bit more probably than the 4v4 modes.  Two of them have powerups which I'm not a huge fan of and the other is a lot of fun, but can involve a fair amount of time playing the objective and not fighting.  I don't mind that, but I assume a lot of people who play a game like this want to swing their sword slywink

In Dominion, often times sitting by yourself on a point is the proper play and it's not terribly exciting.
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: February 14, 2017, 12:21:37 AM
It's a lot higher skill level than shooters.  Quick reactions and knowing your moveset and your opponent's moveset are key.  It's more like a fighting game in that regard.

Here's what can happen when you understand the revenge system and your opponents don't.  Surprise Mother

sadly these are the same type of people that will then either say the game sucks or that the character I was playing was OP simply because they don't know what they are doing frown

It was just a hypothetical 'if we were to allow you to keep playing what you played, which of these would you rather see?'

Atlas Reactor, Conan and For Honor this weekend.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: February 09, 2017, 04:25:34 PM
Streaming this for most of the beta and launch.  Trying to do a bit of all the modes, but mostly with one character this time to try to get high enough to try out the other gear.
14  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elite: Dangerous on: February 08, 2017, 07:52:45 PM
I need to get back into this myself, will definitely stick with the PC though since the TrackIR is just way too fun for me.

As far as I could tell the AI are completely invisible to the enemy until you engage without suppressor, are seen or tell them to open fire.  They were almost invisible to me in the sense that I rarely noticed them when I wasn't deliberately trying to take advantage of them.  Also unlike other games with AI squadmates that follow you, these guys actually kill stuff.

playing with two others some more, game is quite fun and has a lot of potential.  It also sets up lots of funny moments when people make mistakes.  It's easy to make mistakes in this game. lol
19  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (from Tom Clancy's Ubisoft) on: February 03, 2017, 10:28:18 PM
I'm liking it.  few small complaints, but overall really enjoyed it.  gunplay felt good with the exception of hipfire aiming feeling super clunky.

edit: oh yeah, and flying felt really bad
20  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (from Tom Clancy's Ubisoft) on: February 03, 2017, 04:35:43 PM
thanks.  I think my issue is my home xbox is in the other room and out of space.  I should have put the code in on this xbox instead of xbox.com frown
21  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (from Tom Clancy's Ubisoft) on: February 03, 2017, 04:11:42 PM
put my code in for the xbox version, game isn't showing on my list to download or my queue.  I see no way to get the game. frown  If one of you is on and playing, invite me to the game and maybe it will trigger the download.
22  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Conan Exiles on: February 03, 2017, 09:59:20 AM
I'm playing on the Qt3 private server. It's open pvp, but we pretty much only do it when consenting.  Otherwise we are all one big team and settlement.
23  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: January 31, 2017, 07:16:15 PM
The core of the game feels a lot like Street Fighter to me, thought you might dig that.  Thought you used to play quarter matches with us in the day
24  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: January 29, 2017, 04:14:31 PM
edit: removing what I put because it could be taken aggressively.  Just been rubbed the wrong way by the sheer numbers of friends/people not 'getting' the game and how it works.
25  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: January 28, 2017, 05:48:03 PM
I'm guessing that single player won't be worth a purchase.  It's likely to be a lot like R6:Siege with a huge focus on multiplayer.

Loving the game though
26  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anything you're looking forward to playing this year? on: January 23, 2017, 01:35:05 PM
For Honor is my current big excitement.  Otherwise I'm just excited to finally have someone playing R6:Siege and Atlas Reactor with me.
27  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Star Wars Force Arena on: January 21, 2017, 12:07:54 PM
I really like this game, I just dislike how important uniques are compared to how hard to get.  Also wish there was a way to directly get a hero if you trade X others for the same reason.

Only other issue is the imbalance between factions.  They have changed a small amount of the disparity, but the range + hp benefits of the rebels is still there.
28  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: 2017: Traveling Through Marvel's Cinematic Universe on: January 15, 2017, 05:55:31 PM
though the netflix series haven't had any direct connection plot wise as of yet, the tv show did and there are small things around Winter Soldier that might make more sense if you were watching the show as well just fyi.  (though season one is kinda lame imo)

Gigantic, Fractured Space, Heroes of the Storm, Paladins beta on xbox.
30  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (CoD goes Halo) on: December 18, 2016, 11:32:04 AM
I own it, but honestly get more of a CoD feel from Titanfall 2.  I saw Drifter playing though.  I haven't revisited since launch but it felt clunky on the controls to me this time.  I preferred BO3
31  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [Movie] Rogue One - A Star Wars Story on: December 16, 2016, 10:32:59 PM
The first CGI enhanced character didn't bother me at all.  Funny enough, the eyes were real if I remember correctly so the blinking was probably not cgi like the rest.  that one was an actor with CGI touch up rather than fully CGI motion captured.  The other CGI person did bug me though
32  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: For Honor [PC/XB1/PS4] - Ubisoft melee battlefield game on: December 16, 2016, 04:04:08 PM
I'm not sure what you are asking for, this is a melee combat action game as well.  Do you want more 'God of War' like action?  Not sure that's really doable with multiplayer in a way that would be fun.

If you want melee combat, you have to have some sort of blocking/parry system and that's what is providing the complexity.

For Honor tech test, Heroes of the Storm event, Hearthstone a tad, Overwatch a bit, Gigantic for awhile, Dreadnought event for some.  https://www.greybox.com/dreadnought/en/news/update-14-sands-mars/

Lots to do

I've got 2 more invites to send out to be able to play in the event this weekend mentioned above.  PM me email address if interested, first come first serve.  Not sure if these let you keep playing afterwards but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

I still have a couple 'real' invites as well that give loot for the full game when released, but holding on to those for people who plan to play longer.  Don't want to 'waste' them on a try out.  If you end up really liking the game let me know and I might hook ya up.  icon_cool

I am so in love with this game, hoping it works out ok in the end.

Did you also enjoy the previous test they did?  It felt far too nuanced and hardcore to me at that point to be enjoyable.

I did, It's still a game that has a higher skill floor than many games are willing to.  I don't find it any harder to grasp than most fighting games though and is a similar style of thinking so it worked quickly for me.  If you simplify how combat works, you can kinda break it down to a rough rps system, just with a lot more choices and freedom.  3 directions to choose from, gotta match the enemy to block, gotta not match to get through.  Also grab/guardbreak beats block, fast hits can interupt, heavy hits can parry, etc.  Each move of each character has counters/weaknesses to learn and exploit while you work to cover up your classes' weakness or leverage the things it excels at.

It's not a game you can just fire up, smash buttons and do well at.  It's part of why I love it so much.  I've always been someone who likes to look deeper at game systems and figure out how they work best and max that.

uplay harkonis7, anyone in the tech test friend me up for some headbashy

Saw it and loved it.  I'm sure someone can pick apart something about it, but on first viewing while just enjoying it nothing stood out and I love that.
