I just picked up a PS3 finally a few days ago.  If you're looking to part with some games, I'd be interested in seeing what you have...

Playing the only game I have right now:  MLB 12: The Show.

I'm still going through tons of reviews to find out what are the PS3 must-haves I've missed over the last several years...

Now buy her a life insurance policy with yourself as the beneficiary. That'll add excitement.

Hehe.

From what I know of her, she strikes me as the type of person that would be amused by that.   smile

I chose the Christmas lights night flight in a Cessna 172RG...

We'll be flying over Chickasha, OK for their Festival of Lights.

I've been playfully giving her small clues to build up her anticipation.  So far, she's been given the following clues (she did not get the info in parentheses, of course):

18th century Dutch mathematician (Daniel Bernoulli/Bernoulli's Principle)
Wichita, Kansas (home of Cessna)
Chickasha, OK (self-explanatory)
ARROW (acronym used to ensure the proper documentation is aboard each flight)

She's perplexed, but is getting pretty warm.

Crossposted from OO:

I have been involved with sugar babies as a sugar daddy for the past 7 months (I'm divorced now). My most recent arrangement ended amicably a month ago and I have been "interviewing" suitable candidates. I found a young lady who is a Political Science major at a local university and we've hit it off rather well via emails and phone calls. We are meeting next Wednesday for dinner, and I'd like to surprise her with something unique. She's in her early 20's, no kids and is looking for a long-term arrangement while she finishes her bachelor's.

She's articulate, intelligent, and beautiful. Not sure what else I can tell you...

Price range?  $200-$300
51  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Unique gift ideas? on: December 21, 2011, 01:13:23 AM
Throwin' this out there to the masses for ideas...

I'm looking for a unique gift idea for a young lady I'm seeing.  I don't want to do anything cliche like a mani/pedi, spa day, flowers, perfume, etc.  I want something that will capture her attention and make her squeal with delight (no adult toys, lol).

I won't go into the details of the relationship other than to say it's not traditional...hence the "no flowers" thing.   Roll Eyes

So what do you guys have?  I need something by the 28th.

55  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: LF: PCI-E Video Card on: November 06, 2011, 07:17:55 PM
The power supply in this Dell is a measly 300w.  It used to be a government computer...the power supply in my dead rig is 420w.  Looks like a PSU of 450w+ is recommended for the 1900XT.  Regardless, I can probably find a larger power supply on the cheap with Black Friday approaching.

Can both of you PM me your addresses and I'll mail out a MO to you each for $10 for shipping?

57  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / LF: PCI-E Video Card on: November 06, 2011, 03:16:54 AM
My 7 year old rig (AGP!) finally died. Money's tight right now (in the middle of a divorce), but I managed to get my hands on an older Dell rig from a local computer shop for $50.  It came without a HDD or memory, but I was able to scavenge those locally.  I need a low end PCI-E video card to replace the integrated video on the mobo.

If you've got an old one laying around that you'd like to see get a new home, LMK what you want for it and I'll see if I can swing it.  I might have to wait until the 15th depending on the price, but I need one regardless.

Thanks.

59  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Too late for a PS3? on: June 28, 2011, 12:55:59 AM
I'm considering purchasing a PS3 in lieu of upgrading my computer rig.  Basically, it' a cheaper option at this point.  I can comfortably drop $350 right now, but not $1350.  I haven't really kept up on any new console developments so I'm not sure if a PS3 purchase is a wise move if there's something else in the channel soon.

Is a PS3 purchase a good move this far into its life?

65  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / [Seriously?] Looking for an (*hangs head in shame*) AGP card *FOUND* on: March 02, 2011, 12:28:14 AM
My AGP Geforce 7600GT gave up the ghost two days ago after about 4 years of use.  I'm still waiting on the Injured Spouse settlement on my income tax return (still about 4 weeks to go) so I'm not in a position to spring for a new rig yet.  Luckily I had an old 32mb TNT card laying around that still works and is now being used as a stopgap.

Just curious if anyone had an old AGP card better than a TNT that they'd like to sell on the cheap.  This TNT is barely serviceable, and scrolling on a website is like watching a slide show.

PM me or post of you got something, please.  smile

It just pisses me off that in the letter from the Department of the Treasury we received on Monday that outlines the offset states:

"The Agency had previously sent notice to you at the last known address known to the Agency.  That notice explained the amount and type of debt you owe, the rights available to you, and that the Agency intended to collect the debt by intercepting any Federal payments made to you, including tax refunds.

They sent it to me AT THE LAST FUCKING ADDRESS THEY HAD ON FILE.   mad

THIS letter we get.   mad
68  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [IRS] Injured Spouse on: February 01, 2011, 01:26:18 AM
Has anyone ever filed as an injured spouse?

My wife has school loans that we thought were on a deferment...turns out they apparently aren't.  Her loan account was delinquent, yet we never received a notice.  We filed our taxes last week with an expected return of around $2600.  That entire amount was offset to Sallie Mae last Friday.  As I am the only wage-earner in our family, how much of the refund can I expect to recover?  She had zero reportable income last year...

*sigh*

I guess replacing my 6 year old rig (with the AGP slot) is going to have to wait a few months.   icon_neutral

If you've got a tube of thermal paste nearby, it may be worthwhile to remove the CPU, clean the old paste off, re-apply new paste, and reseat it. Possible that the old paste is no longer making proper contact, resulting in a fast overheat. I had this symptom exactly once, and this took care of it, however mine would go like two or three minutes before the shutdown (a few times much less than that though).

By 'powers itself down', do you mean it actually goes through the shutdown routine, or does it just suddenly switch off?

It just suddenly and unceremoniously turns off.  No splash screen, no nothing...
71  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Haven't seen this before... on: January 13, 2011, 11:25:08 PM
The rig has been off for the last 24 hours. I opened up the case, used compressed air to clean out what dust there was, and made sure everything was snug in place. I started the rig with case open, and the fan over the CPU works. The machine still shuts down in less than 30 seconds.

When it first boots up, it gives me 30 seconds (roughly) via a timer to select a normal startup vs the repair utility. I've let it run to zero, after which it defaults to the repair utility. Thirty seconds later, it shuts down.

Sounds more like a mobo issue? Would a bad HDD cause a shut down?  Might be cheaper just to replace it with another low-end rig...
72  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Haven't seen this before... on: January 12, 2011, 09:48:23 PM
I bought my son a low-end e-Machine almost three years ago for his first computer (he's now 9).  It's run flawlessly up until two days ago.   Video and audio are integrated on the board...

Upon our return from a three week vacation in Arizona, he booted it up and it ran for two days.  The next day he booted it up, it got to the Win 7 splash screen and then the system powered itself down.  I cold booted it back up, and it did it again.

I've tried running the repair utility that it prompts me too, and it also ends up powering the computer down after about 30 seconds.  I've tried booting in safe mode, with the same results.

Any ideas what would be causing it to power down?  If it's not an easy fix, I'll simply replace the rig, considering I only paid $300 for it in '08.  Probably cheaper than repairs...

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
