holy shit, really, you spent over $1000 on a game thats not even out yet, yet alone we don't even know if it's going to be good or work.  Crazy

Damn straight.   slywink

I've spent more money on cheaper women, so I see this as a bargain.   icon_razz

Plus, this game looks so freaking amazing.  It is just what I was looking for in a space sim.

Welcome to the club of needing RSI to lock your account before they release any more ships!

Well, that didn't work out too well.  Upgraded to Rear Admiral, which added the Constellation.  Kept (rebought) my Hornet and also added:

* Avenger
* Cutlass

So far, I'm $1050 in.  As I tell my fellow male compadres.....I don't golf and I don't bowl (and I know damn well they spend a fortune on both), but I do love my gaming.
84  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Star Citizen, space combat simulation game (Chris Roberts' latest) on: July 07, 2013, 09:48:45 PM
RSI just hit $14 million dollars in pledges.

I'm hoping that the alpha will be out in time for me to at least try a Freelancer or an Origin 315p before I sink the cash on one of them

That brings up a question.  Will you be able to fly any ship in the Alpha or are you limited to flying the ships you own?

More pron.......the Origin 350r Racer:

I almost went with the Retaliator, but wanted something a bit more maneuverable.  The Starfarer isn't all that bad in looks IMHO.  Plus I'll be the ExxonMobil in the sky making record profits each quarter!   icon_razz

Well I went bat-shit crazy and upgraded my initial $30 pledge to the $125 Colonel level, which includes the Hornet.  I also picked up these ships (which are gone after today):

* Aurora LX
* Gladiator Bomber
* M50 Interceptor
* Starfarer Tanker
* 350r Racer

Not buying a PS4 or XBone.  Absolutely no reason to at this point.  The 360 and PS3 (plus my PC) totally fulfill my needs.

Yep....they used the same excuse with that abomination called Metro in Windows 8.

Wow. For those who didn't see the livestream, go watch this video when they announced 'no restrictions on used games and everything else that Microsoft fucked up on and hard':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-To7WJyWs

Sony KNOWS they have Microsoft beat. Totally beat. Right there.

LOL, what an obscene beatdown of Microsoft. Tretton looked like the cat that swallowed the canary.

Seriously.  Who the fuck is running the show over at Microsoft?  Windows 8 Metro debacle, the over-priced Surface that no one bought, and now the XBone DRM restrictions/higher price.  All within 12 months.  Could they possibly fuck up any more major decisions by year's end?

I don't think we'll see a jump to $70 games. Inflation hasn't gotten high enough to justify it yet in the States.

Actually it has.  In 2013 it now takes $71.44 to buy the same $60 game from 2005.
98  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Based entirely on the 1st presentations of the PS4 / XBOne, which would you buy? on: May 28, 2013, 03:04:09 PM
Right now, I see absolutely no reason to upgrade to either.  My gaming time on the 360 and PS3 is basically down to zero.  I do watch Blu Rays and Netflix on the PS3.  But what little gaming time I do have is basically on the PC.  Games are much, much cheaper through Steam sales, GMG discounts, and Amazon sales.

Each service will be charged with developing policies to integrate women into every military job. For instance, the defense official said, it's likely the Army will establish a set of physical requirements for infantry soldiers. The candidate, man or woman, will have to lift a certain amount of weight in order to qualify. The standards will be gender neutral.

Seems to me that the women that qualify will have no problem pulling their own weight, as it were.

Yep and it is also time for them to start registering for Selective Service.

Today (the Wednesday before Turkey Day every year) always holds a special place in my gaming heart. Sixteen years ago back in 1996, this was the day that I received my first 3D video card, the Intergraph Rendition Reactor.

I waited all day at my job for the card. Seconds were minutes, minutes were hours, hours were days. I visited the mail room every 10 minutes, so frequent that when FedEx did show up at 2:30, the mail room boss was just as excited for me (or he was happy he didn't have to deal with me anymore).

I zoomed home, installed the card and drivers and fired up Indycar Racing 2, one of two games included (the other was Quake). My jaw hit the floor as I appeared in my pit stall at Michigan International Speedway. All the jaggies were.........gone. I couldn't believe the ultra-fast frame rate or gorgeous picture. I played ICR2 all weekend, marveling at the scenery and watching hours upon hours of my replays. It was that Wednesday my life really did change to a degree.

This started a personal tradition and I continued to use Thanksgiving weekend as a HUGE gaming time for me. That Wednesday in 1996 will forever be special to me and always an anniversary of sorts.   I seriously cannot believe it has been sixteen years since then.
