Pretty great looking videos. Sound is good as well. Picked up a couple of annoying things. Combat phrases are going to get old quickly. As in "right in the face" Which I heard 3 ti-4 times just in the clip. And "I need healing".  These are just quibbles though. Day 1 purchase for me. I'm a one game at a time kinda guy, but if I'm in the middle of a game when this comes out, I'm dropping that and starting this. Unless it overlaps with Fallout 3 and F3 really has a hold on me.

Recommended requirements:  All you got...

Recommended requirements:  If you have to ask...

I'll be shocked if it is playable on anything less than a Core 2 Duo and 8800GT.

Why would you say that when the listed spec clearly say something different? In the article that posted the specs they say they worked hard to optimize it so as many people as possible could play it. CeeKay brings up a great point though. Recommended spec should come with a given rez. Not that you would have to list specs for every rez, just pick one in the middle. People who are gamers can figure out the rest. The tough thing would be which rez to pick. Does Valve ask people what rez they play at along with everything else they ask? I have no idea what the "avg" rez would be. I know until a month ago I had a 4 yr old rig and I was playing a ton of games at 1024. some people said they would "never" play that low. Made me feel they thought it was "wire frame" or something Roll Eyes
I would guess it would be fluid at 1280X1024 but what the heck do I know.
683  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect..wheres that patch? on: July 25, 2008, 04:58:50 PM
That's interesting Daehawk. Right near the end I had a crash to desktop. Only issue I had with the entire game. I finally beat it. After about 10 tries I bumped the difficulty down to casual. Still took me about 10 tries. I did figure out a system that probably would have worked on normal but by then, what's the point. I thought the game was a tad short but that's only because I was enjoying it so much. So now I'm gameless. I have a couple oldies I missed coming from gogamer but that's with dirt cheap shipping so it will take a few more days. The shakes are starting.

Yeah, I know what I have to do. And I'm level 50 myself. But I'm just not great and the strafe and dodge stuff, so it's gonna take me several tries. Sigh....
685  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect..wheres that patch? on: July 25, 2008, 12:45:05 AM
Okay I have to take some marks off. I'm at what I believe to be the final boss battle. it's way tough and appears to consist of multiple stages with no way to save in between. Looks like many repeats. God I hate when devs do this.

The trigens were the mutants. I'm psyched for FC2.
687  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect..wheres that patch? on: July 24, 2008, 08:28:45 PM
Do they tell you how many quick saves you have used? I just pump F6 like a monkey. I'm getting near the end( I think) still having fun. I have done every side mission given but I don't think I have been to all the clusters. Any reason to go to them unasked? I will be bummed when this game is over.
688  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect..wheres that patch? on: July 21, 2008, 03:02:50 PM
I'm pretty far into the game. Not sure what level but I stopped getting 2 skill points per level and only get one. Anyway, outside of giving my team strong weapons that I find I don't manage them at all. So far I have done fine on normal setting. My character is pretty strong and can take care of just about everything as long as my sidekicks occupy the bad guys attention from time to time. Still my game of the year. Some people have complained the side missions are "samey" but I am enjoying them all.
689  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Farcry 2 thread on: July 20, 2008, 03:23:03 AM
I hope it winds up like neither. People hated the mutagens in Far Cry just as much as the Aliens in Crysis. Ubisoft has promised no mutagens or aliens. The guy at Tom's hardware played FC2 on a 360 at E3 and was underwhelmed. Still looks great to me.
690  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Farcry 2 thread on: July 19, 2008, 04:32:48 PM
Ummm Wow. It cracks me up that some people in other threads are dismissing this as a simple Far Cry sequel. I think only the name has anything to do with the origonal. This looks like a blast to play and is #1 on my list for fall.
691  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: (Hellgate: London) Who's in? on: July 12, 2008, 02:02:56 PM
Or maybe not final.   The CEO claims everything is great, never better. Interesting, both sides can't be correct. I'm sure the truth will play out. The people who can no longer cancel their subscriptions aren't making that up.
692  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Forget Diablo III, Dragon Age is coming. on: July 12, 2008, 01:28:16 PM
Silly me. I guess I don't get the nuance between in engine cut scene and pre rendered CGI. Okay, so it's a cut scene. Still tells us nothing about any gameplay what so ever. Hopefully we get more info next week.

Fuck. FMV prerender; no gameplay.

Kinda weak.

That doesn't look like CGI to me... looks in-engine.

If it is pre-rendered CGI, then it's pretty shitty quality.

There is no way in hell that was in engine. And that showed nothing of actual gameplay. Wait all week for that? What a joke. The entire marketing staff should be sacked.  And the CGI was boring as well. Oh well, maybe some real details will be revealed next week. Can't really tell a thing about the game from this.
694  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Forget Diablo III, Dragon Age is coming. on: July 07, 2008, 06:21:57 PM
Hi Kathode! Looking forward to Fallout 3 as well. It's true that we don't really know a single thing about the game and I believe they made an engine change somewhere along the line. However to me "Bioware RPG"  and Dragon in the title are good enough. To me there is zero chance this isn't a good game. One can allways argue good vs great but I'm sure this will be fun.
695  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Forget Diablo III, Dragon Age is coming. on: July 07, 2008, 05:30:11 PM
All I know is I really want to play this and Wednesday will be a cool day. This was #1 on my list the day it was announced, even though I knew it was years away. I hope they put lots of info up. Funny but in all the DD like games, no one has really done Dragons that great. I suppose Gothic games came closest.

Damn Rain-where were you 3 days ago! That does sound like a sweet deal. Well, I spent more than that, but I do have a sound card and 3 years worth of support, so I will live. Funny you bring up Crysis, that will be my first game on the new rig. Now I just have to survive no gaming for 13 days.

My four yr old one time monster machine went tits up this am. Will no longer even post. Pretty sure it's either the mobo or cpu and not really worth repairing.
There is a new outfit in Chicago that seems pretty cool called Uberclok. Due to money issues I need to go kinda midrange. What do you think of an E4500 oc'd to 3.0? Decent chip? XFX 8800gt 512 card a good performer? I have heard good things about 8800gt's in general. I gather from another thread that Vista 64 bit is pretty stable now. Do you think I would get more bang from Vista 64 and 4gig of Ram or Vista 32 and 2gig but a faster cpu-maybe a quad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice to see a thread about Stalker. I thought I was the last person left still tracking this. I guess I'm just a glass half full kinda guy. This is still my most anticipated game. Still looks great to me. Setting still the most origional to me. I just can't wait to crawl around inside that ruined reactor. Of course 2-3 delays ago it stopped being a day one purchase. I have to make sure it dosen't ship completely borked. But if it dosen't, I'm all over it.

Does this mean the various sites will have their benchmark stuff up on Monday? I've forgotten how soon that stuff all went up for FEAR, HL2, and Doom3. It would be fun to look at while stuck at work waiting to get home.

Funny the 30 sec movies make waiting more bearable for me. A little taste to look forward to every day. Seems they are hugely popular. Hetz I hope you are right. Here in Chicago the BB's said the 21st early last week. I have a ton of computer stores to try Monday though. Of course unlucky me had to schedule my tax visit with my cpa monday night. This was long before the game went gold. Wonder how late I can stay up at night adjusting sliders. How sweet it would be to set it to max and let fly!

Yeah I'm going no where near that thing. In some ways I feel I know too much allready but in truth I'm sure it's about 1% of the game.
