I stopped watching any of these previews as I have preordered the game and no longer want any spoilers. It does seem like I may be able to play through this more than once which will be the first time I have ever done that.
602  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Avatar! on: August 21, 2009, 09:43:16 PM
pretty impressive,that.
603  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Wolfenstein : Impressions incoming! on: August 19, 2009, 08:08:17 PM
No save anywhere =epic fail for me. Unless everything else about the game is really compelling. This isn't.
604  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 'Call of Pripyat' on: August 11, 2009, 06:12:59 PM
Looking forward to this even though imho they are 0-2 on endings. If this is more like the first game with a real ending it will be great.
605  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Risen from Pirhana Bytes on: August 10, 2009, 05:00:47 PM
That's not going to help me much as my system is not near that. The one interesting thing was that rez didn't effect frame rate much. I'm sure I'll be able to run this. Looking way forward to it especially since Dragon Age just got pushed back 2 weeks. And the screen shots look like a typical gothic game. I have really liked all 3 of these so far. Don't see how it can miss.
606  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age is looking good! on: August 08, 2009, 04:18:47 PM
2 weeks will not bother me in the least. Besides, Risen is out Oct 2nd and I know that will keep me occupied.
607  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Risen from Pirhana Bytes on: July 31, 2009, 05:12:29 PM
Interesting. Kinda modest specs. Weren't the first two games system pushers? I think this is a day one purchase for me.

I thought they were making DX11 available for other OS's? They going to make the same dumb ass mistake again? DX10 was worth nothing so I'm not exactly bummed.
610  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age is looking good! on: July 16, 2009, 08:01:01 PM
Yeah it pisses me off as well. I bought the CE for Oblivion but never looked at the bonus disk. I just couldn't wait to start playing and then when I finished the game I was no longer interested.  However, I really want the quest, cloth map-god I love cloth maps, and the extra healing ring. I think I'm going to have to do this. I do commend them for coming up with decent CE content. I hate the fact that some of it is in game stuff.
611  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Chrome Engine 4 on: July 14, 2009, 06:24:40 PM
That looked very cool. Yet in the CoJ Bound in Blood threat they kept complaining that the games has you always running forward and really discourages exploration. Seems like a waste to me. To me, the Gothic worlds have always looked kinda like clip.
612  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age is looking good! on: July 11, 2009, 01:50:24 PM
I don't know. Choice is always better. Suppose by chance you lose the chance to play a character that you really wanted. It would nice to be able to be able to change your mind. I can't see them doing this for every character, just some really special/unique ones. My point was that hands on sounded more encouraging for the game than a lot of other stuff that has come out recently.

A hands on review that sounds pretty cool. I really like the part where a character that could have joined your party and you wind up picking a fight and killing them instead. In this case you got shown a small cut scene showing you what you missed out on and how they could have helped you.

And sometimes even though they say it doesn't support 64 bit, that just means they haven't extensivly tested it. It may still work. Rise of Flight is like that. 64 bit is not supported but it runs fine.

No thanks.  Better people a plenty to give my money to.

HHMMMM. I'm on 64 Vista now. Thanks for the heads up. Have to make sure this will run on it before I get it.

I can just see this hitting in October with Risen and Dragon Age. From famish to feast again.
617  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rise of Flight - Out tomorrow? on: June 20, 2009, 02:21:54 PM
No dynamic campaign but there is a linked series of canned missions. More planes will be released(for a fee-yet to be announced how much) as time goes on. I haven't played it yet because it's not out in the states but those that have say it's got the best physics ever by a wide margin. Pretty much the best graphics as well. # of planes doesn't really bother me as I would be unlikely to replay it 20 times just to fly a bunch of similar planes but I would like to try the triplane and some other famous ones.
618  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rise of Flight - Out tomorrow? on: June 17, 2009, 06:30:11 PM
I have been following the developement of this for over a year. Yes, even for the single player game you need to connect to the net at the start and be connected at the end to advance to the next mission. There seems to be a debate as to weather you can disconnect in the middle and reconnect before the end. I think you basicaly need to be connected the whole time. A deal breaker for some, I'm sure.

I don't have a quad core but I beat everything else. I'm not anticipating any issues.
620  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Alan Wake: the next DNF? on: June 05, 2009, 09:45:29 PM
looked really sharp and different but also looked like it was on rails. Also the "TV Episode Feel" is going to keep pulling me out of the world. I remember when it was first announced and they said multicore only. I had a smoking single core and was bummed. It has taken so long to come out i've upgraded but now I'm not sure I want it. The character standing to the side of the screen with a controller? What the hell is that.?

622  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Drakensang english demo (win a copy!) on: April 09, 2009, 07:23:42 PM
I'm an idiot. I never noticed the box to click on that selects the entire party. Funny how it never made much difference until the caves. they still followed me until then. Enjoying this part of the game.
623  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Drakensang english demo (win a copy!) on: April 08, 2009, 04:20:12 PM
Anyone else having pathfinding issues in the deep caves? My party hangs to far back and encounters with enemys can then be a problem. I can get around it by manualy moving everyone up as we go along but it's a minor pain.

Anybody win the trial? I thought the way they did that was pretty cool. And how you got out of it if you lost.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Are you talking the one in the dwarf town?  Because yeah, I did win that.  Collect enough evidence, state your case well enough, and it's a slam dunk.
Spoiler for Hiden:
Yup that's the one. it said I had collected enough evidence but I could probably get more. I figured I had enough. Maybe I gave some of the wrong answers in wrong places. If you lose you get a nice cut scene of the mountback being led off and she is slumped over and really looks dejected. Then as soon as you get outside, a dwarf tells you of a secret way into the prision. As you break her out you encounter Alissa's minion who you kill. He has evidence that gets you out of the whole thing. I thought it was a good way to get you back on track into the main quest.

I'm sure I could prowl around some message boards and find out how long the game is but I don't want to. I just want to follow the story until it ends. Been playing since it first came out and I think I still have a few areas to unlock. Still enjoying it.

I heard about this one last year. The last game was just so....average. Not bad, but not really exciting either. Probably pick this up but it's hardly a "day 1 gobble up all the news I can till it comes out" title. The only one of those i currently have is Dragon Age. I was kinda like that about Bioshock 2 but playing as a big Daddy doesn't really do it for me.
631  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Drakensang english demo (win a copy!) on: March 18, 2009, 03:53:30 PM
Yay! No more plinking! My ranger bowman felt kinda weak even with double shot. Bu now I have an improved bow, war arrows and I kicked strength up a notch. Very nice damage dealing now. The game is a bit harder than if I had played my usual melee tank guy, but I am enjoying doing something different. And Fez, it seems to me so far that each area has a different monster/enemy set.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I went with the witches, although I apparently got dinged for shedding blood when getting the cooking pot back, not sure how I could have sneaked in.[/spoiler

Spoiler for Hiden:
Witches for me as well. I have since seen on boards that it is possible to sneak out the pot. No idea how. Apparently we missed a good melee trainer by dissing the ray of light. That's okay. No way I'm signing with the inqusition.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Where is the missing woodcutter in the blood mountains? I've cleared the whole area.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Hmm, I remember freeing him.  He was surrounded by some thugs, not actually too far from his buddies.  In the forest.  Now that I think about it, he may have been near the Estate, but I can't recall.

Re; The missing woodcutter:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Due east of the loggers camp - top left corner of the F in The Dark Forest on the map

Thank you. I finally got them to spawn for me. I swear I had been over that area more than once and nothing. I give it one last look around and suddenly-there the group is.
634  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Drakensang english demo (win a copy!) on: March 13, 2009, 08:35:42 PM
I am in know way an expert on this as I just want to play the game not spend time researching the perfect build. I'm up to level eight and for my ranger I have been doing skills and talents mostly. It seems so far I can't improve the bow skill more than one or 2 a level as it hits "max". I did put a point into constitution as I wanted to get an endurance skill that required it. I'm cranking up willpower as fast as I can as well. For my gang I'm putting most of the points into skills and talents as well. Seems okay so far
635  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Drakensang english demo (win a copy!) on: March 13, 2009, 03:48:55 PM
Thanks for checking in Eightball. Did not get a hammer in that battle. Will look once more for the woodcutter but I'm pretty good at crisscrossing. I so wish there was an english language walkthrough for this. Especially since it locks out an area when you are done with it. Still having fun. And allthough the story is nothing groundbreaking, I'm enjoying it. I'm sure Lizard boy is going to get it eventually.

Found a new very tough battle
Spoiler for Hiden:
In the blood mountains. Of all things trying to pick up the stupid frog for the witch. Not the guy you give a bracelet to that turns him into a frog, the other one sitting on a stump by the pond. When you come back there are 6 warriors and I kept getting sliced and diced. I had to try and lure them into the other toads as they would leave me and start attacking them but it still took me like 20 tries. Brutal.

Unrelated-double shot arrows is really nice!

Spoiler for Hiden:
Lol, you can talk your way out of that one...and actually, I found out later (because I did exactly what you did; i.e., I chopped them to pieces)...if you resolve it bloodlessly, you get a better reward!

Spoiler for Hiden:
HOW! The seargent made one comment and then I went straight into the pause before battle. Did I fail some sort of check? It took me forever to win that battle.

There was a point in the first section that I was getting zero for some rats I killed. But I never got a large amount for things like Harpys that were really hard for me to kill at level 4. Maybe it only adjusts downward? Still love the game and the artwork. The gloomy forrest really was dark and shadowy. I look forward to each new section of the map that I'm sent to. Still in the early part of the game too.

I have a question before I buy this game. Do any enemies respawn? This is always a game-killer for me. As soon as Thugs started respawning in NWN2, I lost interest. The same issue ruined Stalker for me, Sacred 2, and probably a few more games as well. There have been a few games that had well placed and rare respawns that were good, but most games seem to overdo it. Its like they put those in there to slow you down so they can advertise 60 hours of gameplay as if respawns were content.

I agree with you. Really hate repawns allthough I got through Far Cry 2 gritting my teeth because I liked the rest of the game so well. With regaurds to Drakensang, there is some mild respawning in some areas, no repawning in some areas and I have not noticed any respawning in quest "dungeon like areas" like the brewery rat quest. Plus the monsters that respawn appear on your map and are easily avoidable if so desired.
