it does look like a lot of fun. It depends on the puzzles. It says they are logical, but I have heard that before. If it's tear your hair out stuff it would not be fun.

Well, I'm going to take it upon myself to review the game.   biggrin  You'll get my full take on it soon!

Very cool. Looking forward to reading this since I have to finish Nehrim before I start PS:T up.
483  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Planescaope Torment NOW ON GOG!!!!!!!1! on: September 28, 2010, 10:27:27 PM
Does most of this "talk your way out of fights" and get XP for certain conversation choices happen a bit into the game? I started PS:T once and got a few hrs in before I got stuck and I don't remember any of that happening.

how is the game? I've never tried it, but always been somewhat interested.

It is possibly the best RPG ever made.  Ever.

I'd have to concur here.

I just have to add a counterpoint here. It seems it gets a lot of people calling it the best thing ever, but I disagree. To me it was more like a video game novel than a video game. There is a LOT of reading and you can actually go 5-8 hours without any action. The story is great, no doubt. But if you like actual gameplay in your games then you might be better off with something else.
5-8 hrs with no action?! Really? Interesting. I see these two divergent views all over the net when it comes to this game. Makes me can't wait to try it and see which side of the fence I wind up on.
485  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Two Worlds: The Temptation now Two Worlds 2 on: September 28, 2010, 04:02:22 PM
This just became okay. I will play Arcania. But I just discovered Nehrim and after that I will Play PS:T which just showed up on GOG. I missed it back in the day. So now I actually have a backlog.
486  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Planescaope Torment NOW ON GOG!!!!!!!1! on: September 28, 2010, 03:58:13 PM
I tried this once and got completely stuck. Can't remember what year it was. I know the game had allready been out for a while. I can't imagine it was before walkthroughs were all over the net. But I remeber a point where I had absolutely no idea of where to go next or what to do next. Very odd. That never happens to me. I just discovered Nehrim so it will be a while. But this is next up. Yay-cheap gaming!
487  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Arcania: Gothic 4 - Demo released! on: September 27, 2010, 03:53:29 PM
Finally got this to run. Had to turn down my sound acceleration. Wow, this is very vanilla. I didn't really expect this to be a Gothic but the demo didn't have much personality at all. It did look great. The lighting is also very nice. fire flickering, shadows, sunrise and sunset, very nice. Combat was simple and easy but the animations were very fluid. I can see where they might have made things easy and linear for the demo but I'm sure all the quests will have those big arrows everywhere on the map telling you where to go. And Will all quest enemies really have exclemation points over their heads? Bleah. The voice acting was also uniformly bad and the witch was embarrasing. Where the demo turns you loose into the "dark forrest" I would have been scared spitless with a Gothic game.  No worries in this game. I guess this is how the masses like it though. i've read on forums where many people who play WoW never read a scrap of text or lore. They just sprint around following the arrows and then kill what ever is at the end of the trail. Sigh....I will still pick up Arcania 4 because I still just love rpgs. Starting with nothing, going through the skill tree and discovering the land. 30+ yrs and that basic formula still works for me. Won't be as fun as Gothic, but for me it will still be fun.
488  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Nehrim-Oblivion total conversion mod on: September 27, 2010, 03:41:40 PM
Sorry if this has been posted but search hasn't turned up anything.  These guys have been working on this conversion for 4.5 years. It's out now for free. German with English subtitles. A complete rpg with main quest and side quests. No auto leveling of enemies. Leveling up by repitition has been greatly toned down. Now you get experience by completing quests and can't spend upgrade points until you find a trainer. All new weapons and armor and magic, etc. You can tell Germans did this. Very little hand holding and some insta death lurking around. I just love me some RPG and here is a fully fleshed out game for free. I've been enjoying it so far.G
489  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Arcania: Gothic 4 - Demo released! on: September 23, 2010, 10:29:18 PM
Thanks CeeKay! I so want to see if my C2D that powers through everything else can run this or not.
490  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elemental: War of Magic on: September 12, 2010, 11:18:46 PM
I'm glad they are going to fix the game. Sounds like it will be quite a few months before I will be playing it, but I will play it eventually.
491  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elemental: War of Magic on: September 10, 2010, 08:11:48 PM
I'm not worried about the balancing stuff, it's just the poor manual and campaign that doesn't really explain things like it was supposed to that concern me. i'm not that hard to please, but it is rather frustrating when you can't even figure out how to play. I think I will go with something safer. I don't know what yet.
492  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elemental: War of Magic on: September 10, 2010, 05:55:16 PM
I need a new game today. How hard is it to learn Elemental?
493  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassin's creed: Brotherhood on: September 10, 2010, 05:53:35 PM
I hope that's not true but it probably is. I just finished up AC2 and I had it was my game of the year. What a run I have been on. ME2, BS2, AC2 in a row. I loved all three, but Liked AC2 the best. I just had to complete that glyph video.
494  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Arcania: Gothic 4 on: September 07, 2010, 04:08:21 AM
The devs came back since Desslock posted that and said there is some weird bug that is only apparent on certain lines of c2d's, like Desslocks. They are working to fix it by release and the game should run fine on lower cpu specs.

Risen 2 is going to be 2012 at the earliest.
496  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Risen 2 on: August 19, 2010, 06:03:34 PM
PB is awesome in my book. Although I agree that last boss fight was lame. Then again, I think all boss fights are lame. These guys are as slow as the Stalker guys so I'm sure it will be a while before we see it.
497  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on: August 13, 2010, 08:22:41 PM
Yay and boo both. This is currently my favorite series by a wide margin. However these guys build games at the speed of glaciers and if they are starting with a new engine it will be quite a while before we see this.
498  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mafia II on: August 13, 2010, 08:18:39 PM
I played the first one for well over ten hrs I can tell you that. I have never played a game in as little time as the reviewers suggest is the length of the game. Maybe it depends on how you play.

500  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassins Creed 2 on: August 11, 2010, 06:08:54 PM
Okay but what did you think of the difficulty of AC1? Another way friendly thing they did was not put in difficulty levels. I try not to complain about DRM because I do sympathize with their situation. But apparently the pirates cracked this anyway and then last night I couldn't play.
501  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassins Creed 2 on: August 11, 2010, 04:57:30 PM
I forgot to add the other joy in that last night I couldn't play because Ubi's server was down. Bleah. But yeah, I think I will really enjoy the game. My only real fear is it will get way too twitchy for me and I will not be able to finish it. That happened with AC1. I got to the 9th mission that forced you to kill multiple guards at once and I never got good enought o do it.
502  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Assassins Creed 2 on: August 11, 2010, 04:27:48 PM
I wish I would have remembered the reviews when this came out. This game just wants to piss me off. First off, the sound bug. All this time and no fix? I had to turn my 5.1 sound to stereo so I could hear dialog. Then the tutorial starts. It wants you to hit certain controls but doesn't tell you what they are. Like space bar for move legs. They just have a symbol for legs, space bar isn't mentioned. Okay, I will just follow along with the manual. Oh wait, no printed manual. So I have to stop the game and print the manual out. I think there is a fun game here, but man they sure put a ton of hurdles in front of me to start with. I need this to hold me over til the 24th and Mafia 2.
503  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age 2 on: August 11, 2010, 04:16:44 PM
Those things are still funny. Here's the thing for me and games. While sometimes I will wonder why a dev did things a certain way because it makes some things quite a bit annoying while I'm playing, for the most part I just want a fun game. I don't spend much energy tweezing things apart thinking it would be more fun if they had done b instead of a. I just want to have a good time while I'm playing. Yes I'm simplistic.
504  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / please help a noob overclock on: August 10, 2010, 02:20:13 AM
my system with a core 2 duo [email protected] was factory overclocked to 3.0 on fan cooling. Rock stable for 2+ yrs. Then the mobo died. Local shop diagnosed and fixed the problem but A, did not even load drivers for my new nvidia 460 so when I got the system home it was using-gasp-on board video. That was an easy fix. But my cpus are back to 2.2 and I have never overclocked in my life. The board is an ASUS P5N-D. The Bios had an overclocking section but though I clicked on the 10% increase option and rebooted it did not do anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My shop that built the rig-Uberclock, sadly went out of buisness so there is no help there.
505  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: SLI: do the cards still have to be the same? on: August 07, 2010, 04:13:11 PM
I can't believe I'm getting into this just to see some papers fly around but how does this work? Do both cards need a 16x lane? Does the game allow you to set up which card does which? Would this set up mess up other games?
506  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / SLI: do the cards still have to be the same? on: August 07, 2010, 02:26:43 PM
I haven't been keeping up with this. I noticed for Mafia 2 the specs for using the advanced physics stuff was one card for the game and one card for the physics. They cited differnt cards with one of them being noticably weaker. I thought in SLI both had to be the same. Or is this some different set up from SLI.
507  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Nvidia 8800GTS Dying, Dead? on: August 04, 2010, 03:16:37 PM
What a timely thread! it appears my 8800gt just died. This has been brought up earlier but not answered. Can you run a pci 2.0 card in a 1.0 slot? Obviously you won't get the benefits of 2.0 but will it at least run at 1.0 speeds or did they change the slot?

One of the best ever. Just let us know if the check point system drives you insane at one or two points. You will know when you get there.
509  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bioshock 2 teaser site up on: July 19, 2010, 04:44:09 PM
another lttp post. Enjoying this as much as the first game but some inconsistances are annoying/puzzling. You can search SOME desks and file cabinets but not all. Yes there is a prompt but it still bugs me. And little sisters can suck the adam out of some dead splicers but only certain ones. Not one you just fresh killed. I don't get why they mapped the drill to the lmb and the plasmids to the rmb. Why switch them? I remapped those guys right away. Still, a great game. I'm hooked. Playing this right after ME2 and I think the world is just full of great games.
510  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Asylum on: July 17, 2010, 03:44:26 PM
I would enjoy them if they had logical puzzles and some sort of help system for those that get stuck. When everything just grinds to a complete halt because you have no idea what pixel to combine with another pixel, it ceases to be fun. For me anyway.
511  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Asylum on: July 16, 2010, 05:20:49 AM
oh I played Scratches. If this is like that I would avoid it like the plague. Scratches was a typical hunt all over the screen for the one pixle that activates game. Yes it was creepy and a decent story but the puzzles made zero sense and you got no help at all. Finally resorted to a walkthrough and spent the whole time wondering if a single person alive could finish the game unaided. Besides, static screens where you just mouse over the active points are rather dated.

My wild-ass guess right now would be that you'll encounter Morrigan and her young child in some capacity in DA 2, with the child growing up and eventually becoming the main villain of DA 3.

That would be cool!
515  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mafia II on: July 09, 2010, 04:25:02 PM
I bet that physics stuff adds very little. I still can't see anything really cool in DX10 or 11. Mafia games are more for the story, at least for me anyway.
516  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age 2 on: July 09, 2010, 04:22:19 PM
Yeah the whole thing with Morrigan's child was creepy-in a good way. I would hope that that part of the story is continued in some way. But if you aren't importing a save from Origins, I can't see how that would fit in.
517  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: BFG going out of business? on: July 08, 2010, 02:13:24 PM
They were discussing this over at Hard OCP. Apparently nvidea just really screwed things up. They had a 6 month gap with no new tech, then when they did get it out they made vendors buy tons of old cards to get supplies of the new stuff, at least at first. BFG was in no position to do that and had no new tech to sell for almost a year. Combined with fact that PC games are no longer on the crazy need to upgrade and there you go. I will miss them. Still using a BFG 8800gt and am able to play everything at 1680 with no problem.
518  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: ME2 question on: July 07, 2010, 04:15:16 PM
Thanks Caine! Bioware really packed a ton of content into this game!
519  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / ME2 question on: July 07, 2010, 03:33:06 PM
I know I am lttp on this. I am really enjoying this more than any game since Bioshock 1. I feel kinda guilty because I feel like I am only seeing about 30% of all the content they have packed in. Anyway, my question is this. There are tons of of links to other systems every time you go to one system. Are there missions out there? Or are the only missions the ones you get added to your journal during the course of play. I know talking to everybody you can on your team and on your ship adds a lot of missions. Are there missions hidden in places that have never been mentioned?
Martin Sheen's character and voice acting are the best.
