Will the NPC's still lok really creepy?  That's the least of my issues but I wonder. Darn it, despite my doubts I'm starting to get excited for this. Massive RPG's are so like crack to me.

Damn those floating fortresses are hard! Really. They kinda throw you into thedeep end in terms of how to play them too.
443  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on: December 12, 2010, 05:49:45 PM
Ohh, and Oblvion had pretty bad loot drops, or loot at the end of a dungeon or whatever. I know ES is not exactly that kind of game and I know that balancing that kind of stuff must be a complete nightmare but if I find some creepy out of the way dungeon and work hard and clear it out it would be nice to get some shiny cool thing for it. Sounds like I hated Oblivion yet I played for over 100 hrs.

I wonder if Hetz will resurface icon_biggrin
I love me some dragons, and dragon killing, allthough I'm sure some will find that a bit stale. Skill advancement through reps is not ideal but not a deal breaker if it returns. Cookie cutter dungeons not ideal, but not a deal breaker either. Auto leveling of enemies would be a no go for me. Now that they should start dribbling out info for the game in the comming months it will be interesting to see if/how they address that.

Bingo-that's it.

They nerfed my sword as well. Probably the same weapon you were using. Right at a point where I really needed it.  I really need to use my potions now. I think I will be fine doing Aleroth. Mission is pretty simple, just frustrating.
448  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/ Flames of Vengeance add-on/ Dragon Knight Saga info! on: December 07, 2010, 04:55:17 PM
Me too. ooops. Anyone know if you should finish the fjords before going to Aleroth? I kinda think that might be the case but it did let me ride the airship so I wonder.
449  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/ Flames of Vengeance add-on/ Dragon Knight Saga info! on: December 06, 2010, 04:36:41 PM
What the hell is going on in Aleroth? My frame rate just went to hell.

I found a key at the bottom of a cauldron that was full of lettuce. It seemed to be an odd place for a key.

That was in the mill and if you read the miller's mind he said he hid it there to keep it away from his wife-I forget why. But yeah, most of the key stuff is illogical.
I have to admit The next area after you get the tower is a bit frustrating. I can't for the life of me keep track of the main quest. Invisable barriers are annoying. I then got all the seeds and then got blocked inside that temple and couldn't figure out why. Had to go online for that answer. So I just defaulted to my usual in rpgs in that I just go everywhere I can and clean out every area I can and then most things work themselves out.
452  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/ Flames of Vengeance add-on/ Dragon Knight Saga info! on: December 01, 2010, 07:17:09 PM
It is definitly capped at 30 which according to the forums just bugs the crap out of some people. I sure can't notice anything. The devs have said they cap it to keep all the game threads synched up and in some instances uncapping it can increase stuttering. just fyi.

Put in about 90 minutes last night.  I have a i750 with an nvidia 470 so I pumped the graphics option to Extreme to see what would happen.  It ran like a champ, I'm happy to report.  A little bit of choppiness, but not enough to spoil the experience.

The game itself is just as fun as the console version I played a while ago.  I started with Ego Draconis because I never finished it, and because I want to see the changes in the "remastered" version.  So far I haven't noticed any big changes, but it's still early.  The leveling mechanic is just as addictive as I remembered, thankfully.  And combat is fun without being too twitchy.  I'm really enjoying it so far.

Anyone know an option I can get rid of in graphics that I wouldn't really notice yet would maybe push me to smooth as butter status from the aforementioned slightly choppy?
I don't know for sure as I'm running maxed on my 460 without stutter but usually shadows are the culprit. try pegging them down a notch.

finally got a chance to get back to this last night for a little bit.  I had to give up my plans to go melee only and start using a bow occasonally for the ranged enemies.  I think I found the dungeon with the poison traps that was mentioned a few posts up; was it the 'temple' in the bandit camp?
Yup. I do enjoy some of the bow stuff. Hopefully you will as well.

Just keeps getting better!
Spoiler for Hiden:
Loved the island and "one guy lives and one guy dies set up. The choices seemed kinda obvious to me so I worry a bit I was fooled. Could have looked it up on line but that's not how I play. The battle tower is also pretty cool. Nice to unload all my crap. Haven't visited all the levels yet as stupid work got in the way icon_biggrin Can't wait to get back home and continue. The cut scene where Damien's bad girlfriend gets the axe was pretty graphic. I can kinda see why he is rather pissed.
456  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/ Flames of Vengeance add-on/ Dragon Knight Saga info! on: November 24, 2010, 06:45:15 PM
I have a few annoyances but nothing dealbreaking. Some of the puzzles can be obtuse. And there is some pain in the butt insta-death. The dungeon that was half poison releasing causing your character to die over and over until you figured out what to do was not fun.
Shooting the bow is a blast however. And in most rpgs I kinda like to do all the side quests before proceding on the main, if possible. It just cracked me up that the disembodied voice helping me kept nagging me to go do the main thing. This game is very funny.
457  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V on: November 23, 2010, 10:10:19 PM
After playing Nehrim and Divine Divinity 2 as well as the Arcania demo I also feel the graphics in Oblivion are somewhat dated. Be interesting to see what the new game looks like. Yes, I felt Oblivion had problems, but every new ES game needs to be looked at and considered. Sounds like it's still a ways off though.
458  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis/ Flames of Vengeance add-on/ Dragon Knight Saga info! on: November 22, 2010, 04:37:15 PM
I'm totally hooked on this game! but then I'm an rpg fanboy from way back. Start me off weak, with juicy skill trees to dream about and stats to build up and I'm good to go. I like the animation and the game looks quite pretty to me. Able to play it maxed on my aging C2D and nvidia460 at 1680X1050. Love the humor. Lots of little touches. two gripes. Quick save takes about 20 seconds. And sometimes lining up the hot spot so you can use "e" to pick something up can be very finicky. There was a key in an early dungeon that was all sparkly so I knew I was supposed to pick it up, but I could never get the hot spot. I guess three complaints. The manual is not completely helpful. How to apply charms is not explained. maybe they will explain that once I get to my tower. Also, is there no way to drag potions down to the hot bar? A bit clumsy to use pause. But those are minor niggles. Found a stronger weapon and am just tearing through some Minor enemies, so much fun.

I have a steam file but nothing called steam apps in it. weird. I got the manual now and can just enjoy the game. Which I am.

I'm liking this, even with the big markers over characters heads. I got this on steam and I cannot find the freaking manual. Haven't been able to google the manual either. Steam forum said it's under steam apps and I can't find that. Making me a bit crazy. A little help would be greatly appreciated.

Not completely, but it was better. However, that's a different game so I don't take that as a guarentee that they will get rid of it in the next ES.
463  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: A Plea for Another Elder Scrolls on: November 08, 2010, 05:25:51 PM
Meh. Only if they hire the Nehrim boys to write the quests and ditch the enemies level with you crap.

It is excellent.  No fiddling required either. Simple .exe install.

Yup. It's a bit fiddly. Save often as it likes the occasional ctd. And for god sakes enter tll on the console when in the dark forrest. But besides that it is so sweet. And there is a lot of quest help if you get stuck at Nehrim.com. I give Bethesda tons of credit for the engine and all the systems and the basic artwork. But these German boys just beat their brains in when it comes to quest writting. I've already had four side quests that I consider quite epic.
465  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: God help me I'm restarting Oblivion on: October 25, 2010, 05:42:44 PM
Stop! Immediatley! Have you heard/tried the complete mod Nehrim? So much better than oblivion ever dreamed of being. All new locals and quests. Enemies do not auto level with you. Trust me, quests are epic. Just about every one. Only draw back is it's entierly in german with English subtitles. I don't care. Yes I played Oblivion and finished all the major quest lines. Still the game was a major disappointment for me. To the extent that I'm going to wait on the next Elder scrolls and if they use the same lammo auto leveling I'm out. This Nehrim game is really something. I've hardly done the main quest line because I keep getting sidetracked by awesome sidequests. it's hard though, especially in the begining. Once you get to the upper teens in level though you can start laying waste. Just no way I can exaggerate how much better I love this game than Oblivion.

I give Gothic a slight edge over Nehrim, just because the NPC's in Gothic have better personality. However, Nehrim is very, very good. Lot's of people didn't like G3 very much. While I found having to clear out the cities kind of repetitive 2/3 of the way through the game, it's still a Gothic game and enjoyable. I somehow avoided the bugs that plagued many people.

clearing out the cities were what made the game a blast for me.  I loved the orcish bodies piling up around me like cordwood as I found  choke point and annihilated their tyranny.
Yeah Ceekay it was a blast for me as well. At least the first 4-5 times. After that, it was a kinda been there done that. It did not stop me from clearing every city on the map though.

In PBs Gothic games, youd be lucky to get out of the second chapter by 15 hrs. Except Risen, which was a bit shorter. Right now, I am more than happy with Nehrim.

So far it's been my experience that out side of trainers and shopkeepers,  nobody you have not been sent to directly will talk to you. I guess they didn't want the world to be empty, but it's a bit pointless if they don't say anything. Oh well, nobody's perfect, still love the game.

Aye, its awesome - What sidequests do you refer to? I cant talk to practically anyone since they say I'm an aeterna or whatever they are called

Spoiler for Hiden:
The best one has been the Steel rail mine. I believe you find a note about this around Gilead. If not there are old tracks leading north out of Gilead that lead to the mine. You get a great axe at the end of it. Another quest you get around Sildon saying there is some ruins that contain powerful family heirlooms. Most quests I have found with notes, not talking to people. The quest board out of Gilead has a lot of nice quests as well. "The Butcher" ends with a very tough boss. He kept wasting me until I gave up finished the steel rail quest and got that axe. Went up to Erothin and found a note for a guy looking for adventurers. He wants me to go up north. Can't wait to start up that one. Gilead also want's me to go far east where I haven't been yet. So much cool stuff to do.

The latest patch is out.http://www.sureai.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=3467   If you have the bug where messages stopped appearing in the upper left corner this fixes it. Man I am loving this mod/game. Leveled up enough to be dangerous. Haven't touched the main quest in a while. Side quests are great little adventures on their own. I got a really great weapon from one of them, had an end boss I could barely scratch in another one-had to run away. Then I got said weapon from the other quest, came back and wasted him. Now I have some side quests sending me off to new areas. Can't wait for work to be over so I can continue. And Razgon, I've finally learned how to use block effectively, it's a great help. To anyone just picking this up: the first couple of hours are the worst part of the game.It gets way better as you go.
473  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Nehrim-Oblivion total conversion mod on: October 09, 2010, 03:41:23 PM
it seems around level 8 I started to hit the sweet spot. Enough into strength and my weapon and I can do some serious damage so I can explore a bit and not get smoked where ever I go. Hitting the board in Gillead trying to level up a bit so i can do a juicy side quest I need to be a certain level for. Great mod, can't believe it's free.

478  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Nehrim-Oblivion total conversion mod on: October 04, 2010, 03:50:01 PM
Yeah my only gripe with this is how hard it is. SSo yeah I got sent to a city and the forrest I have to go through is for 7-14 and I was a 5 and got up to 6. So if you are walking along and find something cool you can't really investigate because you will die over and over. It has taken me a long time to get that through my pointy head. Further along I have to go to another city-I'm being vauge on purpose-the forrest I go through is rated 14-24. I'm a 7. I died, a lot. So I have resigned myself to just sticking to the main quest for a good while. If this goes like just about every other rpg I have played there will come a tipping point where I can start laying waste most everywhere.
