161  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/Ps3] Dead Island Riptide on: April 22, 2013, 03:05:47 PM
While I understand all the negatives listed and admit they are all fairly accurate, I really enjoyed the first game. It looks like Riptide is more of the same. In that case I'm sure I will have a blast playing this as well, as soon as the price drops into my range.
162  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bethesda's new game project on: April 19, 2013, 06:39:51 PM
I played Amnesia. That was pretty creepy. Being a powerless character didn't help either. Fun game.
163  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bethesda's new game project on: April 19, 2013, 05:32:48 PM
I don't know if a game has ever "scared" me. I'm PC only and have never played the Silent hill game. I liked the good Clive Barker game but it didn't scare me. I've been startled by monster closet stuff back in the day, but not scared. Dead space was creepy. Maybe I'm splitting hairs.

Wife has preconfirmation duties with her Goddaughter this Sat. so I should have lots of free time with Deus Ex HR. Once I became used to all the systems and how the game works, it's a great deal of fun. I'm sure I'll head right to the DLC when I'm done. Only downer is the AI. Usually if you run around the corner to another room in the middle of a firefight they can't follow you.
165  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 04/12/13 - Tax Day Edition on: April 12, 2013, 04:28:22 PM
Deus Ex Human Revolution. Really enjoying this but apparently it's been a long time since I played a difficult game. I'm dying a lot. And trying to find stuff using the map just had me flummoxed in China. But I'm getting the hang of it and having fun in the process.
166  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/Ps3] Dark Souls 2 on: April 11, 2013, 04:55:58 AM
Wow. I'm actually intimidated to try DS1 and that video didn't help much. It would not be fun to just have to die and reload  100's of times. Still, I'm intrigued enough that when DS1 hits my price point I will get it immediately.

and done.  pretty fun game.  at some point, maybe next year, I'll replay the game to pick the choices I didn't take.

I wonder what direction the DLC will take.

I have said this in the past, like Witcher 2, and the ME games, and Fallout 3 NV and yet, I have never gone back. There is always something new and shiny waiting.

Since I finished Kingdoms of Amalur yesterday it was going to be FEAR 3, but it would hang every time in the opening video. A hard crash that made me reboot the rig. Then trying to verify the file on steam also hung up. So I hit uninstall. Have to try and redownload it to see if my download was corrupted. But decide to change up and am downloading Deus EX Revolution from Steam.
169  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Thief 4? on: April 02, 2013, 12:35:55 PM
looked awesome to me. Thought it had all the elements. This game could make me break my not paying more than $10 for a game rule.
170  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 03/29/13 - Easter Edition on: March 29, 2013, 06:09:26 PM
Kingdoms of Amalur. Got my skills upgraded so I can see where all the statues are on the map. Had a blast running around finishing all the ones I missed. Probably have around the last 25% of the world map to finish.
171  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Old school Dungeon crawl: 'Legend of Grimrock' on: March 27, 2013, 06:00:11 PM
While I loved the gameplay and graphics and the storyline, the puzzles were just too hard and I was lost. Had to play the second half of the game looking up solutions on line. If the LoG 2 is that hard, I'm out.
172  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassin's Creed 4,next year? and with Co-Op? on: March 25, 2013, 06:39:00 PM
Looks great to me! But I'm a fanboy of the series. Haven't played AC3 yet because it hasn't reached my price point, but I really liked all the others. And I really like the pirate setting.
173  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 3/22/13 on: March 22, 2013, 06:24:46 PM
Still playing through kingdoms of Amalur. Still enjoying it. Getting a bit close to the end, last cities over to the right anyway.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, he presided over Warhammer online, SWTOR, and the fact that Origin on line has not made a dent in Valve. 3 pretty big failures.
176  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 3/15/13 on: March 15, 2013, 05:53:03 PM
Still playing Kingdom of Amalur. Lots of content in this game and bug free so far. Not the most thrilling game I've ever played but it is fun.
177  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 3/8/13 on: March 08, 2013, 06:43:56 PM
Kingdoms of Amalur. This game is solid in all areas but not terribly exciting. Still, I'm always hooked on these skill tree games. I always want the next skill.
178  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: So are micro transactions the wave of the future? on: March 03, 2013, 01:04:03 PM
It seems like it is but not for me. I'll never pay one. I think if there comes a day where I can't find a single game that I enjoy without micrtransactions, I'm done with the hobby. But I don't think that will happen.
179  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: System Shock 2 is returning! on: March 02, 2013, 03:20:45 PM
No wonder I got stuck so near the end. That body of the Many level was just brutal. Had to turn the difficulty down to easy to get the final brain thing down. But at least I finished. Always bugged the crap out of me that I never had. The early creepy levels were some of the finest moments in gaming, imho.

I'm right at the final battle in SystemShock 2, so I will finish that in 15-20 minutes. Then it's on to Kingdom of Amular.

System Shock 2. Although not a ton of time as I have a seminar on Sunday.
182  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Old school Dungeon crawl: 'Legend of Grimrock' on: February 22, 2013, 06:05:55 AM
While I really enjoyed a lot of things about the game, the puzzles just got way to hard and I had to use a walkthrough for most of the second half. So it's not for me.
183  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Oldest save game you have installed on: February 20, 2013, 01:15:48 PM
Mass effect 1 as I'm still waiting to play ME 3.

Dishonored...on the third mission and loving everything about the game so far  icon_cool

I'm jealous. I have a self imposed limit of $10 for games because I have a great backlog and I know they will all get to that price eventually. But Dishonored along with X-com sorely tempted me. I figure maybe Steam sale this summer, if not, then Christmas.
I just saw Mass Effect 3 on sale for 9.99 so I'll get to see the ending that everybody hates.

Oh god am I dying a lot in this! So weak early on. But I'm having a blast as well! Mr. specter is of course more than entitled to do whatever makes him happy and whatever makes him money, but it makes me sad that he went from the likes of this and Deus Ex, to Mickey Mouse, but that's just me.

I saw some screens that looked okay to me. This game is so atmospheric I can cut it some slack. I will download the higher rez mod though.
189  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: System Shock 2 is returning! on: February 13, 2013, 05:38:39 PM
I'm very excited about this! I played it years ago and it was one of the few games I never finished. This was before walkthroughs were all over the web(or at least I didn't know of them) and I got stuck in a spot low on health and something kept respawning  enemies. Don't even remember exactly where it was. I just kept dying over and over and just had to move on. I'm more than up for trying this again.

Finishing up KB Warriors of the North. Then starting up Kingdoms of Amalur.

Morrowind - PC - Started this back up after a long hiatus. Off to see the wizard clans.
Metro 2033 - 360 - Continuing onwards in this a little at a time.

So people are playing my faves this weekend. While really hard and frustrating in a couple of places, Metro 2033 is really great. I'm kinda worried about the sequel with the bankruptcy stuff. Hoping it doesn't get messed up.

I got hit by a bad storm here in Georgia Wednesday, power is back but Internet has been inconsistent.

Looking forward to playing ad catching up on my single player games, but if my Internet behaves I'll be playing some Dungeonland, Far Cry 3, Dead Island, Diablo 3.

Although some people got bored with it, I really enjoyed Dead island all the way through.

Nice to see this back, I missed it last week. Playing KB Warriors of the North. Typical KB game. I love them myself. It's fun to get some dragon units and go on a rampage. And the game is so pretty. Some of the quests are rather clever. Some are frustratingly vague, or won' open up til you do something else in the game, but I'm having fun clearing out the map.
196  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Games finished in 2013 ALL GAMING PLATFORMS (including Mobile Games) on: January 26, 2013, 03:46:19 PM
Kotor 2 with tsl 1.8 mod. Great game!
Kings Bounty Warriors of the North.
System Shock 2-only took me 14 yrs to finish! I got stuck back in 1999. Thank you GOG
Kingdoms of Amalur. Solid game. Sad what happened to Big Huge Games.
Deus Ex Human revolution. Great game. Liked it so much I thought it was a little short. Didn't think the boss battles were quite as horrible as many others, but the second one was quite a pain. Doing the DLC now.
Finished the DLC Missing link. Surprised there was no more extra content for Deus EX HR.
Game of Thrones RPG. Fun game. Wish it had done better. Combat was a bit bland but still enjoyed the game. Don't know why they made every ending sad though.
Venetica-fun action RPG. And I got it for free on a New Egg deal
Torchlight 2-pretty fun, but just when I got going it was over, and I don't replay games.
Risen 2. Decent, but not quite up to PB specialness. Something was missing
AC3-worst game of the series by far imho, but I still had some fun playing it. Don't get the hatred for the Desmond parts. It also ran like a pig on my modest system.
ME3-most fun I've had with a game this year.
Tomb Raider 3. At least as good and maybe better than ME3!
X-Comm, Enemy Unknown. Continues my roll of excellent games. 3 in a row now. Really enjoyed it.
Dishonored-another great game, will play the DLC for sure when the price comes down.
Max Payne 3. Hated the check point save system at the start but got into it more as I went. They nailed the vibe perfectly imho. Sorry to hear this tanked in sales, I had a blast.
Vampire the Masqurade: Redemption. Too funny, thought I was buying Bloodlines. Kept wondering when I could change my clan. Duh. Oh well. It was ok for what it was.
Bioshock Infinite. Rather disappointed and let down by this game.
197  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dragon Age II - Impressions! Mods! New Patch! on: January 21, 2013, 04:27:08 PM
I just played and finished this a couple of months ago. I thought it was fine and failed to see what all the gnashing of teeth was about. Had a fun time. I thought that was the point. Then again I tend to be more forgiving and less critical that most on gaming forums.

Finishing up Kotor 2. Good game, but ready for it to be over. Anxious to start Kings bounty:Warriors of the North. I have really enjoyed and been hooked on all the previous KB games.

I tried going back to KOTOR II with the restoration mod recently, but it just felt kinda boring.  Maybe it's just basis of comparison with modern games, but all the environments looked so sparse and dull, and the initial set of missions on the mining facility weren't terribly compelling.

I'm getting near the end of Kotor 2. I have really enjoyed it. Stay with it. The mining level stuff is by far the worst part of the game. It gets much better after that.

Continuing on Kotor 2 with TSL mod. Finally got my light saber and am laying waste. Also really into the story.
