Just ran the two tutorials, and it's typical TW stuff. I do like the fact you can garrison buildings and that cover is useful.

I just started the land engagement to check performance...and it seems fine. Well, it actually seems to run a bit better on my machine than TW:M2, even with the new eye-candy options on. I've got to run out for a bit, but I'm eager to get back and play out the land battle to see how it goes...then give my opinions on it. smile

Hey Booner...your screenshots look awesome in your other post. What are your pc specs? I'm running the demo on a Win XP, E6600(2.4 Ghz) Core 2 Duo, GeForce 7950 GT KO. The demo runs like total crap. I need a serious upgrade.

i haven't sent this to admins yet, but one of my buddies at work also worked for MS' flight sim group.  that part of the games division has been eliminated and the current project (FS 11) has been canceled.

not sure if this has hit the news sites yet.

I have heard these rumors also. That would really bum me out as it was MS Flight Sim, many releases ago, that inspired me to purchase my first pc and eventually pursue computer science as a way of life.

I think the only thing that will get me back into serious flight simming is helicopters and the only one I know of that's coming soon is DCS: BlackShark.

I believe it is out already. You can check at www.simhq.com. They have a dedicated forum for it.

I love this game. As I have been playing Fallout 3 the last couple of nights I think to myself "this is the game that I have been waiting for to be made for the last 20 years or so".

It's Friday morning. I am at work sitting in my cube. I am a senior programmer/analyst with major project deadlines staring me in the face. And you know what? I couldn't give a flying rat's ass!!! I am in my cube, drinking my coffee and thinking about the Fallout 3 universe.

My wife and 3 kids will surely miss me. See ya in the spring  thumbsup.

That is beyond comprehension for me  eek It takes me longer to eat my lunch than for you to start & finish Bioshock.
27  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist: Memorial Day Edition on: May 27, 2008, 03:31:17 PM
Despite my wishes, there were no excessive gaming binges for me this past weekend .

However, I did manage to squeeze in some time with Bioshock on the 360, Thief DS and Star Wars KOTOR on the pc.

It's time to wrap up Bioshock. I have been playing this game since launch, which was what...last August eek. That is 8 freakin months ago!

Thief DS and SWKOTOR were both repurchases for me. Why do I bother to sell or trade games? It is almost 98% guaranteed that I will repurchase that game.

And I'm done.  It's up for grabs if anyone wants it.

GTA IV did lead to minor epiphany regarding my gaming tastes.  I tried to think back over the hundreds of games I've played, and think of one "realistic" game that I truly enjoyed.   Not a single game came to mind.  For me, playing a game needs to be a complete and total escape from reality.  If there is even a touch of the real world in a game, I completely lose interest.  Which would explain why I have never been able to get into any of the military FPS or RTS, the GTA games, real-world action titles (i.e. Splinter Cell, Max Payne, Stranglehold, etc.), or a multitude of other games.  If it doesn't have some element of the ridiculous, fantastic, or completely unbelievable, it just doesn't float my boat.  One of the big problems with GTA IV is that, in the end, I'm playing as a thug living in New York City.  Put that same thug and gameplay into Faerie, or Middle-Earth, or Westeros, or Ivalice, and it would keep my interest for hours on end.

This is what makes the world go around and define us as individuals. I am the complete opposite of you. The more real-world the game is, the more immersed I become in it. However, sometimes I do need the sci-fi and fantasy settings to take me out of reality for a while.

I don't know for sure, but maybe it is an age thing. I will be 48 this July. I am reaching a point in my life where I feel it is up to my 3 kids to fight off the Sith and leave the Nazis for me to deal with. Hmmmmm, now where the f*** is my lightsaber.

I returned my RR'ed 360 to Costco last week. They let me swap out the new drive and keep my old one.

I wanted to keep my old drive because even though I have all my 360 save games backed-up on a memory stick, my kids original Xbox saves can't be backed up. They would have lost all their progress, and that really, really sux.
32  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GTA4 Hints and Tips? on: May 10, 2008, 07:45:22 PM
Where are you supposed to park the cars that you acquire? I usually leave mine in that reserved spot in front of Niko's apartment;however, more often than not, they usually disappear after awhile. What gives???
33  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Backup original Xbox saves from 360 HDD??? on: May 05, 2008, 07:35:10 PM
Thanks for that info!

I bought that 360 from Costco. I am hoping that they let me keep the HDD after they swap me for a new machine.

Even if they let me keep the old HDD I think that I will probably purchase that XSATA anyway. Our family plays alot of original Xbox games on the 360. That would be a great backup mechanism.

Play Asia carries it. Man-oh-man, these consoles are getting to be a real pain in my frackin ass. This is something that should have been built into the system by MS.

34  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Backup original Xbox saves from 360 HDD??? on: May 05, 2008, 06:13:36 PM
Since my 360 is starting to die (I am on my second one) ...

My kids are playing a bunch of original Xbox games on my 360. How can I backup their saved games from the 360 HDD. They have made a lot of progress on these games and I would hate to loose the saved game files.

I tried copying the save files to a memory stick;however, the option to copy is not there. WTF is the point of backwards compatability then?

In GTA San Andreas, can you still keep playing the game after you finish the main story line? I'm still in the San Fiero missions;however, I am curious!

i just loaded up San Andreas a couple days ago and finished the last few missions, so i can confirm that the game drops you right back at your grove street house as soon as the final cutscene and credits are done.  that was the first time i've played a GTA game in almost two years, and it's still every bit as awesome as i remembered icon_cool
