Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [Movie] Next Bond Movie - Skyfall!

Skyfall isn't a send off for Daniel Craig. He's under contract for two more movies.
And the two next are supposedly going to be the first time in Bond history where a movie will end with something akin to "to be continued". In other words, the next storyline will be split over two movies. I keep hearing that, but QoS was a continuation from casino royal, more or less. Also, Skyfall was awesome.

Finding the doors to OO locked, I buttoned my jacket up to my neck and hurried through the chilly Santa Fe streets - a light snow falling gently around me in the darkness, streetlights casting an indifferent illumination as I passed dark corners of the web - 'cause I need to read some GamingTrend gaming trend info. Glad it's always open.
IS it really snowing in Santa Fe today? I was supposed to be there this week

I'll remove the two cars I put in there. I just constantly see 'new car', 'new car' then go look and they are all stock and it is a bit irritating on my pet peeves, that's all. The club interface can be a bit clunky in multiplayer games to begin with, but when we have tons of trash to go through it's much harder.
I'm not sure how my playstyle would be changing what cars should be in the garage differently than yours. Do you not like having cars of highest PI for a class? That's really the most important part. After that at least a basic tune would be useful. It's all I'm asking. You can get a basic tune from a number of tuning calculators. I know jztemple has been using the same one as Kato and I to get a good baseline.
It's quick and easy. Pick a car, put parts on it, type data into calculator, it gives you numbers for the tune.
FWIW Temple the auto upgrade seems to favor tires, then power/handling. It does a bit of everything, but the biggest jump on most cars is grip.
As it should be

Thanks guys, some excellent ideas in there. As for the workout, I kinda stopped that when I lost my job, but I'll start monday back on my three times a week in a fitness center - Great idea.
As for charity....not a bad idea, I'll have to look into that. Not sure what options there are though, but then again, its a pretty good way to use ones time.
I did briefly consider edumiduciating myself further, but not quite sure what and how. I've been in the marketing /costumer / sales / telemarketing business all of my life, even though I have a computer degree.
Its easy to become lost in doing nothing every day though, which is why I get up early every day and do the daily stuff, and now with training as well :-)
As for reading all of Ceekays post? I'm unemployed, not immortal.
I must admit, I *have* been playing Mount and Blade Warband (Prophecy of Pendor) a LOT though...which also gets kinda boring in the long run!
If you've ever been so inclined, it's a great time (for you personally, I mean, but maybe not necessarily in the grand scheme of things) to start a company and/or examine self-employment options. You might hate it, or it might not work for you, but you'll probably never have a better opportunity than you do right now to examine the possibility. Also, do keep up on the fitness thing. I'm convinced that getting lazy and feeling bored begets more of the same and is an ugly cycle to fall into.

I use a Canon 7D DSLR, but I have a NEX-5 that I use as a travel camera, and it's never let me down. It's tiny, user friendly once you learn the menus, and, if you ever want to get more ambitious with your photography, there are several NEX-specific and, via adapter, a wide range of Sony Alpha lenses that you can use with it. Autofocus is fast and accurate. This was the only camera I took on a 3 week European vacation last year, and it never, ever let me down. Here are a couple of sample shots from that trip:

Good point people are making about series longer than trilogies - other than the Thin Man from the 30's-40's, I can't think of many where a majority of the films were consistently good. I just wish that instead of shoveling $ towards a Matrix trilogy that's concluded, someone could find the $ to make sequels or prequels for Dark City or the The 13th Floor. I enjoyed those 2 every bit as much as the original Matrix and it seems like there's better possibilities with them for extensions. Bond. James Bond.

Well that's fine, but personally I think horror movies, as a genre, suck! (PR walks into the thread, reads thru the hilarity, sees the ashes of the Hindenburg-styled flame-out still smoldering) Damn it! I missed the fun! I'm PuertoRican and I'm not offended by this thread. Someone offend me and get banned, pronto!

If the op is a fan of Japanese cars, I might suggest that while actual mechanical quality of domestics has improved significantly, the aesthetics and the quality of the "touch surfaces" and the interior design may not be to his liking.

We always spend the week of thanksgiving in New York City. The first part of the week is spent wandering the city and usually do two nights of dinners and shows. We spend Thanksgiving day watching football and doing the turkey thing then spend Friday checking out NYC holiday traditions like skating at rockefeller center, looking at the macy's windows and catching a Christmas show at radio city music hall. Then we go home and set the Christmas tree up on Sunday. One of the best weeks of the year for me

I thought last night's ep was hands down the best of the season. I didn't realize how much I missed having Puck in the show, but he's a hoot for sure. Some great moments with Bieste and of course Kurt, and they mixed humor well with the song numbers. The Teenage Dream sequence was fantastic, not just the singing and performance, which was tons of fun and only a little bit gay lol, but mostly for watching Kurt's reactions and feeling like there's actually some hope for the character to finally find some happiness. I do like that they've found a way to address the "gay bullying" issue without being too preachy, and used it as a vehicle to advance Kurt's storyline. Also, I was actually quite surprised by the "twist" even though in retrospect it seemed telegraphed all the way, curious if others found it obvious or not. All in all a strong episode with some very cool mash-ups on top of great dialog, heart, humor and plot advancements.
It did dawn on me how much they've expanded the show to be more of a true ensemble, there's much less focus on the "core" characters (Finn, Rachel, Schuster) this season, for better or worse. While it's nice to see everyone get their turn in the spotlight, I do wonder if it's making the show seem a little less coherent. Or maybe it's just with all the excessive hype and guest stars, I almost feel like the show lost some of its charm from last year.
Speaking of which, next week - Academy Award Winner Gwyneth Paltrow singing Umbrella!?!?! I'm there with bells on!!! Seriously, I'm going to wear bells and nothing else while I watch this episode.
Agree with you 100%. I'm usually the first to gag at "...a very SPECIAL episode of..." but I thought this was well crafted and sympathetic without actually being to preachy. Also very much liked the music. I do wish the show would get back to some of it's snark and the very subtle humor of the "Heathers" variety that it had in abundance last season.

Wow, that sucks. There is very little that eats away at you like someone disrupting your life like that, and then is gleeful about the hardship they cause.
Has the internet made kids like this? No discipline at any point in the lives up to that point?
Indeed. When I *really* want to screw with someone... I PARK IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE.. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! (seriously. this seems like a lot of drama over walking an extra 50 feet)

Being almost as much of a Bond freak as PeteRock is a Rocky freak (well, probably not, but still) I picked this up last night. It caused me to finally unbox the never-used Wii I have had in my closet for over a year now So obviously I have never played an FPS on the Wii and I figured that actually aiming at bad guys with a "gun" would be pretty cool. But my God, the Wii pointer thingy is horribly imprecise. Is it just a learning curve or does the Wii pointer in fact suck for precision uses like shooting evil henchmen? Also I hate the way the screen slews around when I get to close to the edge of the screen with my targeting pipper thing.. Tell me it gets better. Please. Maybe you need the MotionPlus attachment? Didn't even know about it Will try adjusting sensitivity in the console, then give this a whirl. Thanks for the heads-up!

10 miles from my house. Gonna be epic! (if it happens). I've seen reports in the world F1 news that there is concern that the Austin traffic infrastructure won't be ready to support the traffic the new track will bring. Any info you can pass on about that? Apparently a company that specializes in major event traffic logistics has been hired to examine the issue as of a week or so ago. There is a faction here that is very, very against the race coming to Austin and is throwing every problem they can think of at the wall in an attempt to sway public sentiment against it.

Am I the only one that isn't a huge fan of how the new bimmers look? One of the few cars that looked good in the 90s. I like the new Bimmers quite a bit, but there is no denying the excellence of the original M3

Test drove both the 135i (DCT) and 335i (crappy steptronic automagic) today. Immediately smitten by the 135i - the DCT on that thing is phenomenal and the steering feel is about perfect. Not as fast as my STi, but miles more comfortable and, most importantly, QUIET. Drove the 335i after and didn't like it nearly as much. The ride was slightly better, but everything else was worse. The transmission was not at all impressive.
Dealer offered me at least Fair Blue Book value for my STi (so that'd be around $16K) and would sell me an ordered 135i at near invoice. I think I'm going to make the order later this week.
Nice. What color? Space Grey or White, still trying to decide. However I am going to try a lowball offer on the Sedona Red they have in stock. I have a white car. It's a pain in the ass to keep it clean. Also, I remember bringing up the 135 in IRC, but you were all about "may as well just get the 335." But the test drive convinced you otherwise. And, did you drive the 335d? My dad has one, and freaking loves it. White isn't nearly as hard as black... I actually don't find it too difficult to keep clean. That being said, I decided on grey. The primary selling point of the 135i (and thus not the 335i or 335d) is the 7-speed DCT. The automatic on the 3 series felt like utter trash relative to that thing. After driving the 135i first and then moving to the 335, the two things I realized on the 335i were: 1) I hate the transmission, and 2) the steering rack is a little too lose. Neither of these would be resolved with the 335d, so I didn't bother. I really still do prefer the 335 looks and the ride itself was a bit better (probably due to the longer wheelbase). If the DCT weren't available on the 135i, I'd definitely be buying a 335. Also, if I was willing to buy another standard transmission, I'd heavily consider the 335 again. But I'm not. Not even a little bit. Now the 335is can be had with the DCT, but it's out of my price range. When I was sedan shopping a few months back I looked at the 335is. Really nice car on the outside, but I thought the interior was a little bit of a letdown for what turned out to be a 56K car. That said, I thought the price vector between the '35is and the M3 was goofy and in that light the 35 starts to look a little better. Overall though, I really think the 135 DCT is the sweet spot for Bimmer sport sedans now - at least 'till the 1M coupe comes out next year. And I agree that white isn't so bad to keep clean. It also shows paint swirls and other imperfections less than other colors.

If I was in that price range, I'd have a hard time not choosing the Aston Martin Vantage. Good lord that is one gorgeous looking car.
Funny -- Just this evening I was at the local MB dealer exploring a trade on my Vantage for the aforementioned AMG. The Vantage is achingly, wonderfully beautiful, but the truth is that it just doesn't drive great. The engine sounds incredible, but doesn't like to rev. The interior is opulent, but not comfortable. The suspension is hard, but not confidence-inspiring. If I was content to stare at it in my garage, there's absolutely nothing better, but the car is compromised as a sports car and compromised as a GT. Some cars, like a Viper, for example, are bigger cars but drive small (which is good). The Vantage is small, but drives big, which for me is a negative. Heh. All I said is that it's gorgeous. Car like that is a work of art more than it is just a car. I'm getting brainwashed by watching Top Gear I think! Insurance is a BITCH on the Aston. There's no way I could make sense out of paying it. Sadly I think the leader in the clubhouse is a BMW 135i with the new 7 speed flappy paddle gearbox. There's GOTTA be a better (less douchey) option. I like the idea of the 1 series a lot...but what I don't like is how tall it is compared to the 3 series. It's freaking bizarre. The interior is smaller though right? I need something that is at least kid tolerable. The wife is picking up the X5 this week for the bus driving. We are officially a 2 bimmer family :gag: Naw. A 1er is fine for a family, especially if you have a bus on the side Seriously - my best friend is getting ready to get one and he has figured out that both his wife's wheelchair and his daughter's carseat will be accommodated just fine. He's coming from a VW R32, FWIW, and feels the 1 will have enough space to be as practical as the Golf. Also, Kudos for not getting a soulless, nose-heavy Audi.
