Guys, where did you go? I'm depending on your continued martyring sacrifice impressions to tell me if I should play this! I am at the point of figuring what game in my massive backlog to play, and you are the Obi-One-Kenobi to my Princess Leia.

Hi all
I have been having difficulty d/l'ing a large file from various sites because I keep getting time out errors. I have a cable modem. I am not sure what other info to share. Anyone have ideas?
Thanks Jonathan

I have a pristine GC2 CE that I would like to sell for $35 shipped. The box is open so I could pet the manual and tech tree, but the disk is still shrinkwrapped. Basically, I played the Download while awaiting my order, and I just can't get into it.

I'll wait a while. I remember all the hype surrounding Europa 1400. And while it was a decent game, it was hard to find, WAY too buggy, and overpriced for what I received.
If the concensus is that it lives up to the hype in six months, I'll get it. I purchased this the day it came out in the European world. I put more hours into this than I have Civ 4. It was so captivating that my wife, a diehard non-gamer became addicted. Consider yourself hyped. Jonathan

Greetings all. I have, through vigorous counseling and gentle battering by my wife's rolling pin, come to the conclusion I have too much stuff. And of course I want more new stuff (Hey, I didn't say I was completely cured!). So, welcome to my "Best Offer" sale, where you admire the goods and send me your best offer. If I love it, we're set. If I like it, allow me 24 hours to see if anyone else beats it. If neither, well, I will still appreciate the email/PM's. All games have boxes and manuals unless otherwise specified, and everything is in spectacular shape unless otherwise specified. Thank you!

I have nearly given up on the RTS genre. I just cannot seem to get any excitement about making units, lassoing them, and sending them to a point on the map. Rinse, repeat. I have enjoyed AOE II, RoN and TA, but every other RTS has been a bust. I have not even played the WCIII on this list, although it is opened (obtained in a trade). I hope you find something that interests you. Prices include shipping, and will be less for multiple purchases. Some trade wants are listed too.
Have
-Nexus the Jupiter Incident ($25) -Armies of Exigo ($25) --TAKEN -Battlecruiser Millennium (Eight dollars) -Big Mutha Truckers ($11 -Comand and Conquerors Generals ($15) -Comand and Conquerors Generals: Zero Hour ($9) -I Was An Atomic Mutant! ($9) -Kohan II: Kings of War ($20) -WarCraft III ($12) -WarCraft III: Frozen Throne ($10) -World War I: The Great War ($15) -Zoo Empire ($12)
Want
-Sacred -Chronicles of Riddick, Developers Cut -Pirates! -Silent Storm: Sentinels -Codename Panzers -Call of Duty: United Offensive
You are welcome to suggest others.
Thanks

Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Can you fry just your AGP slot? (also a 'beep' question)
|
on: January 27, 2005, 06:11:48 AM

Okay, as it turns out, the beep was for a keyboard error: My wife convinced me to plug in her board using the PSP attachment and it works fine. I thought I had a bad usp plug, but it just doesnt work at all anymore. However, using the secondary PSP attachment, again all is well. My son briefly was tapping on the keyboard during the TV experiment, but I cannot imagine how he would have caused this problem. Weirdness.
Thanks for replying!

Hi All.
I have a Gainward Geoforce FX Ultra 5900XT, which is supposed to support TV-Out. I tried this for the first time, and I received a flickering picture on my TV. This happened two more times. I decided to try a different cord, and I received two quick beeps and then 6 spaced evenly short beeps, with no display. I then had this happen with the first cord. I then had this happen downstairs, hooked back up in my PC lair. Thinking I had fried the card, I changed it out for an old ATI 9000 Pro, but I got the same beeps! I have since tried replacing the MB memory to ensure I didn't injure those chips, and I get the same error. I have also 'dusted' all the slots and replaced the hardware, just in case.
My MB is an Intel Board, and I do not remember the Bios.
Any help would be appreciated... I am a computer game addict and I can already feel the walls closing in on me. It is only by using my wife to prop them apart that I still survive!

So is the interface still as crappy and unexplained as it was in pretty much every demo/beta released of this game (in the few names it has had)? Great looking game with some cool features, but the interface.... Erg? What in any of the above posts confirmed your concern about the interface?

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 Level Help Thread

Sorry if this was covered guys, but I started seeing spoilers about things I have yet to reach, so I stopped skimming.
SPOILER QUESTION
I am at the dam attached to the 'garage'. I have slaughtered all who opposed me, but I cannot figure out how I am supposed to get the dam open, as the obvious wheel is shorted out. I have tried various ways of stacking barrels to try getting above the situation, but it has been fruitless. What am I missing?
Thanks Jonathan

Do they ever explain why Xen creatures are running amok on Earth? If so, ya don't need to say why, I will get it when I get to it. But not knowing if they talk about is really eating at me.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Some advice for Half-life installation from EB games.
|
on: November 17, 2004, 02:58:07 AM
|
|
Please forgive me if this was mentioned in one of the many threads about HL2 installation problems; if it was, and the mods would like, this thread can be deleted.
Here is a cut/paste of an email I received today:
Dear EBgames.com customer,
Vivendi Universal Games has announced two important updates regarding the product installation for Half-Life 2.
1. Half-Life 2 CD Installation error when Counter-strike: Source is not selected
The following has been identified as a known issue with Half-Life 2 Standard Edition (not Collector's or European DVD editions):
Problem: If during the initial installation process the option to install "Counter-Strike: Source" is NOT selected, an error may occur during installation. The message will be: cabinet file error, fatal disk error, or something similar.
Solution: Cancel the current installation process and reinstall the game from the beginning, starting with Disk #1. Make certain to select the option to install both Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source.
Note: If you prefer not to retain the Counter-Strike: Source program on your system AFTER INSTALLATION, you can remove it using the following procedure: * After Half-Life 2 has been successfully installed, open up the Steam client. * Select the Play Games list * RIGHT click on Counter-Strike: Source and select Properties * Select "Delete Local Content."
2. Product Authentication Delay When Installing Half-Life 2
Some consumers may experience delays in authenticating Half-Life 2 during the installation process. This is due to the high volume of consumers who have purchased Half-Life 2 and are installing the game, which is causing high traffic on the Steam authentication servers. Please keep trying, as this is a temporary delay.

Actually, I mean that for the whole dang series, but I am particularly annoyed at Battlefront. I want to know how the hell you can get into a fricken' gunport on a given vehicle. I mean, those clonewar transport ships have cool side car lasers, but do I get to get into one of them? Nooooooo. Automatically the pilot. Oh look, an empty six-legged thingamajig! Lets get into the turret! Nope again. Pisses me off.
Any work arounds?
